I flashed my SGS4 i9505 with new firmware (wrong firmware possibly).
It now shows as a GT-i9505G in About Phone.
Can't get PC to detect phone, in keis, Odin or in device manager.
Have installed the correct drivers, tried different PC, different USB cables, factory reset.
Phone is working apart from random reboots (every 30 minutes or so).
It is no longer rooted so I can't install a custom recovery and can't root it as PC not detecting it.
I'm thinking its fudged and considering getting a new phone but thought I'd see if anyone here had an idea on how to fix it.
Thanks in advance.

Are you sure your usb port isn't damaged? It should give a sign of life when connected.
How did you flash the firmware? Through Odin?
USB port was working okay when I flashed it. It charges okay.
Flashed it through custom recovery but phone is back to stock recovery now

Well then it's for sure one of these things:
- Something with the drivers on your pc.
- A faulty usb port
- Wrong usb port
- A faulty cable.
Your pc should detect it when connected in download mode.
ps how did you go back to stock recovery when you couldn't flash it? A nandroid will not bring your stock recovery back.
I've tried reinstalling drivers.
Tried different cables and even different PC.
After flashing it had stock recovery.
Can get it to boot to twrp.

Phone also randomly reboots after flashing iy which makes me think it's not a faulty port or driver issue but a software fault on the phone.

Hi everyone, I have a serious problem with my galaxy s2.
Two weeks ago I released my phone by odin, everything worked fine until I put CyanogenMod, my galaxy is not detected by any pc,it looks like the USB drive had been revoked, I have tried all ways (mass storage mode, activating and disabling USB debugging ...). I can not connect my galaxy to the computer in any way to recognize it. I have also tried several roms from ClockworkMod Kitchens. I'd go back to official rom but if the galaxy is not detected by my pc I can not (only by ClockworkMod).
If it's worth, when I go into recovery mode, I get: USB unmount
Is there any way to install a clean rom from Rom manager?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad English
Your USB ports might be broken, i had that problem on my laptop and changed the whole usb board just try on some other pc, laptop. Im sure it would work just install usb drivers from here http://www.mediafire.com/?1c3ca4117bm43n6

Thanks for your help, but the drivers are properly installed, the problem is when I connect the mobile to the PC, it does not detect it in any way, I've looked at system / file manager, when I connect the phone to the pc, it does not show anything. Before switching to CyanogenMod everything worked properly

Why are you using Rom Manager?
It's not compatible with SGSII and does more damage than good.
You can try to flash VillainROM via recovery to see if it works for you, just do a factory reset before flashing it.

Yes, the phone load normally, even I get mpt-usb initialized but when trying to access does nothing. And if I try to do it in mass storage mode, it does nothing.
I'm desperate...

guarantee your USB charging port is bad. do a search for just that and there is a thread with about 100 posts on it.

In CyanogenMod after you connect your phone via USB you have to lower the notifications , and select Enable USB storage, and then click OK ( or something like that , I probably forgot )
So i went to root my phone by flashing it to NJ$ and back to NC1. Now it's stuck in the dreaded boot loop and wont start. tried a factory reset and wiped the cache with no luck.
anyway to recover from it?
Flash the nb1 tar and start over.

same problem, but odin not recognize.. i tried with three cables and three USB ports.. but nothing
Try reinstalling the USB drivers, do you have kies installed? If something takes over mobile USB it can cause it to fail.

also try a different USB port. Thats what I did when it wasn't connecting for me.. try to avoid USB hubs like on the front of PC cases and plug it right into a main board USB port.
Also like behrensdtech said Kies can interfere with Odin so try uninstalling it.
Also i got it rooted via towel root once i flashed to ND1. its android version 4.4.2. So my question is can i upgrade to 4.4.4 kitkat and keep root? also ATT is asking me about a firmware update. what should I do with that?
Hey guys I installed the rom Super.Fast&LolliFamous™ (don't remember the exact version, but i can find this out), but a few days ago my phone started bugging out. It started lagging, vibrating and replaying sounds when going into lags, forcing me to reboot it. this helped the first time but an hour later it started again and now i can't boot it properly at all. I am able to get it into download mode and recovery with luck and a few tricks, but odin wont recognize the phone when connected to a pc (tried with 2 pc's and 6 different usb ports). I was able to flash another rom, but this did not fix the problem a bit (Alliance 2.2). With the same problem still there I tried flashing the stock rom over Odin, but as mentioned Odin won't recognize the phone. I have tried Installing/uninstalling Kies as well as Installing/uninstalling the samsung drivers on both pc's. Any help would be very appreciated!

try to remove the drivers, and let windows find the drivers.
i never installed the drivers myself, windows does it for me
I already tried this...
I have tried connecting my old Galaxy S2 to see if it was the pc which was the problem. Odin recognized my old S2, but not my Note 4. Any ideas? Can i flash something in recovery which makes Odin able to register the Note 4? Help is greatly appreciated!
try a different version of odin, remember to run it as admin, and check the cable
I have already tried all this...
Damn you still have not fixed this? Maybe try another computer?

No I miss my note 4 I have tried 2 different PCs (see my first post) I believe i have tried anything I can by playing with Odin
I am able to get into recovery though. Does anybody have an idea what i could flash in recovery that might fix the problem? Thanks in advance

Yeah man! Download cyanogenmod 12.1 or another rom and flash it! Then you should try it via Odin again

I already tried with Alliance 2.2. Would it be worth a try with Cyanogenmod 12.1? Link to the exact version? The newest nightly? Thanks!
When this has happened to me in the past Samsung's recovery software does the trick. Give it a try.

Thanks! Where can i install this? Do you mean the samsung recovery which you can boot into?
I got it to boot for some seconds but then it just turned off. I believe the battery to be the problem. Does anybody know how to test this? Else i'll just google
Have you tried install stock ROM ( or other ) via ADB sideload from recovery?

First thing I'd do is remove the ADB drivers. Install kies is the simplest way to have proper drivers. You must put this fw on by Odin so if your phone doesn't connect in download mode, that's your issue.
Connect Odin
Flash new fw
Flash rom

no kidding. it has to be a normal usb 2 cable a none powered usb port.
i was using the original fast charge usb cable, clearly that was a mistake.
anywho its at 6% hopefully this goes through and i can initialize the device.
oh since i have you guys is there any reason why my data only connects when wifi is connected?
i tried a variety of things and i cant seem to get thing to get service.
i have a ! by the rogers indicator.
it seems to work with my s4 just fine.
So here's the deal: My uncle gave me a very old chinese/korean variant Note 3 to fix and I thought it best to install CyanogenMod onto it. The USB port doesn't work so I installed Flashify to flash the recovery and rom. In the process somewhere, I seem to have messed up the recovery in the phone. I can't access it anymore. I literally cannot boot in recovery mode and probably because of that anytime I try to factory reset the phone, it just reboots back up just the way it was instead of wiping everything. I NEED to factory reset it somehow since I put in my GMail credentials in there for the time being and now I can't delete them from the phone. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks!
U need to permanent removed the battery and give it a cold rest for 10 minutes then u try it back. Its better to be in download mode via odin but seems ur usb port is faulty so its might a hard on it

It says GT N9000 in the settings. The recovery I installed was most probably the latest CyanogenMod 12.1 Nightly Recovery for Galaxy Note 3 (Unified) found here https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=hlte
I would boot into download mode and confirm the model number.
