Help rooting my device(I have tried everyting)

Hi this is my first thread but I have been reading this site for some time. Here is my problem.
I have an stock EC05 rom epic 4G recently adquired and I have tried to root it for some time but every method I tried proves to be unsuccesful(I have tried nopc method and oneclickroot) both
Of them finished unsuccesful my biggest problem with the oneclick method is that my computer(and any) can't detect my device as an pendrive, just as an modem so I'm enable to acces anything from my phone when is connected by usb(have tried usb debbuging mode on and off but nothing) I have the drivers installed I'm my pc but they don't seem to connect whit my phone(have reinstalled them but not working, the same as before) so I don't have a clue of what's wrong or missing if someone could help whit anything I would thank it a lot.
If you need to know something else I'm. Cheking contantly the thread to refresh it the quicker I can.

Did you try using bonsai master unlocker?

Have u tried all the USB ports? Also if u are using the stock Samsung USB cable. Try a different one.

Yup I have tried every usb port and a BB cable but nothing. Its the same whit the stock cable and no I never have read about the bonsai method I will try it.

Did you download the samsung drivers to your PC?
Sorry, I see you did that.
Keep trying different cables, it took me 3 to find the right one.

Did you let th drivers install the fist time you plugged it in?

Well in fact I think is not the cable because my computer is able to detect it but not as an usb mass storage when I plug it to my pc 3 drivers are loaded the cdma modem samsung usb modem and the theter one but no one is the android usb driver that I have seen in some videos and whit another android phones ohh and I have been trying to find the bonsai methhod but it seems that the thread have been deleted.

i had a very similar problem when rooting mine. do you have access to another os to try it on? when i was doing mine i had to do it on mac os . i was using the oneclick method but it took awhile as the newer models of the epic seem to hate windows 7......dunno why tho...lemme know how it goes and if its still not working i can send the exact programs i used.

well i have tried bonsai masterkey but no the same as the others I'm getting frustrated by this situation

You could also try rebooting your phone, computer, or both.

a great place for beginners to start at is theunlockr.com, if your not firmilliar with your phone and how the root process works they are great about holding your hand through the process and have some pretty good starting points for what roms to use so on and so forth...

Some of your wording is a little confusing, are you saying that you can't even get usb mass storage to work? (Meaning,are you able to transfer anything to your phone?)
If that's the case, then that honestly sounds like a faulty usb port on your phone and you might have to get it serviced.

Have u tried to see if Odin will recocnize the phone in download mode? If u can get it to show up you can Odin ef02. Then Odin clockwork, then flash superuser. Then u will be rooted.

i have used odin and it seem to reconized my phone but i havent found a guide to root using odin, I once tried to ask for one but they told me to use oneclick root but It was no use
and for the asking if i used debug mode yeah i tried in every form to connect it to the computer but the same. if some one could conduct me to a way to use odin i would be very greathful

Stuff you need and Odin instructions are in first post of link below. I would also read through thread if you run into any problems. If Odin shows "com 4,5 or 6" really any number it means it should be recognizing phone. That will show in left upper box on Odin program when u put phone in download mode and connect to PC.

Sir, if you can't transfer files to your phone, you need to go to a sprint store. It'll be free if you pay for TEP.
These are the exact same symptoms of my friend's phone. Can't mount SD to a computer, same drivers that end up installing, no one click or unlocker will work; but odin recognizes (and works). I'm having him come in to my store next week.

well it would be the best thing to do but I´m not able to do that because I´m not in the USA so it´s quite umprobable that I can do that i will try to use odin and see what happens thanks for your attention I appreciated

[Q] Stuck At samsung logo after formatting internal sd card :(((

i wanted to do a complete format to clean my i337'z internal sd card and start fresh. and i chose to do the format from TWRP recovery. After the format it does not go beyond the samsung galaxy s4 logo.
it boots in TWRP and also download mode with key combo.
i flashed different Custom roms, tried all the different wipes but no use.
odin also fails, (AUTH fail) dont know why! Everything fails, Also i tried to Odin with the pit file but all in vain.
and also it says on the download mode Write protection : Enable
Does anyone have any idea What is going on with the device?. i seriously need to get it working. I know it is not dead because all the recovery and download mode is working i m just missing something which your experience can point out.

You have to flash everything as of this point I believe. Bootloader, kernal, .tar file, the whole works.

i m using a galaxy s4 canadian variant of i337. so can you please direct me to where can i find ALL the files bootloader, tar etc ?

Just use the search bar in the forum it will come up. I'm on my phone or I would screenshot where it is.

Did you install Kies in your computer? It's needed for some drivers so Odin can work. I was also getting an error until I installed it, then let the computer recognize the phone before clicking start in Odin.

What file in Odin did you try? Where did you get the pit file?

Or you can just download the Samsung drivers from Samsung.com

If he got the odin error he got Odin to recognize the device, so he's got the right drivers.

I'm sure he does. Some people think you need kies for the drivers. Do you agree with that or do you back my statement?

The Samsung usb drivers are all you need for Odin.

I saw those drivers on the website (for the AT&T version), didn't try them because them are dated November 2012, which means older than the device itself. But if you confirm they work, I'll give them a try. Thanks for the tip. No use in having Kies installed, since I don't use it.

Thank you. Of course it makes sense that the latest drivers are in Modaco and not in samsung.com.

I didn't know that. Used to you could get it right from Samsung.com. I guess that's changed, I haven't researched it.

Cant connect to Odin (searched)

Trying to Flash UCUAMDL Because im on MF3, but Odin refuses to recognize my device!
I have tried the following:
1. Tried two different samsung cables, wired directly to back of PC
2. Tried to different windows 7 PC's
3. Re-installed sammy usb drivers twice on both pc's and have even tried with/without kies
4. USB debugging is on
5. Cleared cache and temp files on PC's
6. Used two different Versions of Odin ( V1.85 and 3.04)
7. PC recognizes s4 when plugged in normally just fine in both USB modes
8. Took out the sim and sdcard as well for good measure...
Any ideas? Havent had problems like this since my HTC inspire days, ive been at it for the past 48 hours trying to figure this out, ive got nothing.

You can't go bsck to MDL if you get update to MF3

You can't use Odin if your on mf3. You probably just borked your recovery. Do some research before you do stuff like this

FML so is no option to flash a custom rom on this phone? If thats the case this thing is going back to the store asap for a moto-x or g2, this phone is so damn glitchy its insane.

Need advice, I flashed the ROM for another device!

I was updating my mdl s4 to a new build and flashed a rom for t0ltetmo, a T-Mobile note, by accident. I believe it updated the bootloader but not totally sure.
This is the error I get from TWRP when trying to flash a backup:
twrp E: unable ti mount ' /system'
If I go back to stock using kies can I then root with casual? Or will kies change my bootloader to something undesirable (mk1, nb1, etc.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried flashing the correct firmware in Odin? You may have bricked your device, but it's a good sign you can still get into twrp.

No haven't tried Odin. I only have a Mac, need to borrow a friends PC. Don't think it's bricked. I believe it has the note 2 bootloader, and that's why TWRP isn't flashing the backup

If odin doesnt work, check out mobiletechvideos.com they fixed my bricked S4.

You could try a Windows vm on the Mac

Will try running odin on windows vm. Do you know if I go back to stock using kies if the bootloader will update to something other than the original MDL?

If you use kies it'll force the latest firmware. You want to use Odin.

Thanks for all the support! That was a scary situation.
Got Odin to run on parallels. Before using Odin I gave twrp one last try. Factory reset and then flashed a rom I tried previously, but this time without the gapps. Success! Got very lucky on this mistake.
Word to the wise double check your rom before flashing.

No I definitely flashed a rom for the note 2.
Makes me think it's a sign that the software in our community is becoming more stable. Meaning that one can flash the incorrect ROM and potentially not destroy their device.

No, you got lucky. The partitions are different for different devices and that's what will get you. I.e.flash a boot img where system is supposed to be and you'll be hard bricked

I had a similar issue over the last couple of days.

I used Odin in VMWare Fusion and it would not work at all, except to flash bootloaders and kernels. I finally got it to work through using heimdall using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2374441

Help getting back to MM.

Awhile back I did the SD card update to Nougat and now I'm trying to downgrade and get back on the stock version of MM. I tried using Odin but my phone isn't popping up under ID.com. I just need help getting back to MM so I can update to the official version of Nougat. I tried a couple different versions of Odin and used different cables to try and fix it.

Might be a driver issue. Is the phone recognized by the os before launching Odin?
