I tried searching thorugh the xda forums for an original HTC Home Plugin thread, but couldn't locate one, so i'll start here and maybe someone can forward me to the right place.
I have contacts in my contact list that just have a Company name, and not a first or last name.
The problem is that these contacts cannot be added to the quick dial area of the HTC Home Plugin, it will allow you to select it, but it doesn't show up, and you are unable to click that entry to dial the number. However, if you go edit that contact and add a first / last name, then it magically shows up on the quick dial.
Does anyone know of a bug fix / workaround for getting contacts with just a company name to show up? (And please don't say add a first / last name, that's obviously a solution, but not a fix.)
Any way to also have the phone number displayed on the screen as well when selecting a contact?
If you have multiple numbers on a contact, it just lists the contact 3 times.

put the company name in the name field and then change file as: to the company name and it won't change it to look like a name
Hi guys, i'm having a really strange and very frustrating problem with my phone. I was out the other night and had had a few drinks and i tried to add a contact to my phone. I somehow got to a menu that had an option for a name, a number and a drop down menu for the type of contact info it was, 'Mobile' as it was this time. It also had at least 1 largish button that said something like 'add more'. I looked for the contact the next day but it wasn't there and it doesn't come up if i search for the name i inputted. Weirdly, the same menu came up when i sent a text earlier with all the info i'd input still there. I clicked the save button at the bottom left of the screen and assumed it would be saved to contacts but it wasn't. Its definitely not the normal contacts menu for either outlook or sim contacts.
Any ideas where this menu is guys? Its weird and really hard to describe and i could do with finding the contact details.

If its what I think you're talking about, go to contacts tab > all people > select a contact > edit contact > more > and then you should be presented with a large contact card with add more functions etc. Is this what you were talking about?
No its not that, its just a couple of boxes, a drop down menu and a button or two. Along with the 2 standard buttons bottom left and right. I've no idea where to find it. Its a much more graphics based interface than the fairly texty looking contacts page you described.
Thanks for the try though!
I have twice now gone through my contacts and set Mobile first, Home second, etc for several contacts. After my newest ROM flash, the order is all messed up again, even on the Google Contacts side of things.
Is there some feature I'm missing? Am I the only one that wants a predictable listing of phone numbers on my phone?
anyone? 10char
Someone must know...
I get very anoyed by the contact's numbers order.
In my country:
- the mobile numbers begin with 06...
- fixed line numbers depends of the town, but mostly are 011..., 021..., etc.
Now - it realy is a pain in the back to search for a person, and 99% of the time to scroll down to 2cond or third number to pick...
Even when I want to send a message - the same is needed, although in my country it is not possible to send a message to a fixed line number (I know in some countries it is possible).
Is there an app to choose the order of offered numbers to dial, send messages and similar?
Cheers
I found on another forum:
"If you do a long press on the office number, a menu will appear. From the menu, you can select "Make default number". This way, when you dial, it will automatically dial the office number."
But :
- it doesn't appy to message compose,
- it can be applyed to one number only - if someone have 2 mobile phones (personal and work) - it helps just 50%
- it has to be done person by person, and it is a pain...
- it doesn't apply to all the dialers (just to default one)
Hi XDA.
I'm working on a calendar/dayplanner app, with the ability to set the phone's ringer settings automatically built-in. Ultimately my intention is to extend functionality to the point that you can scan a QR code containing the calendar data and have the app set itself.
For example. I have a meeting from 2 to 4 on Wednesday, the 31st of July 2013. For that time I would like my phone to be set to vibrate.
Is this something that is possible to do? I've heard that the settings in question are protected.
Hello,
I used to join my contacts (facebook, linkedin, google plus, google) to one. After the join and when I an into the contact details If I pressed the "three dots" settings button I could see an option "mark as default". This option give me the opportunity to select the default name, photo, number of the contact... So for example I could use the photo from facebook, the name from google...
After updating to lollipop Poland SM-N910C I do not see this option anymore. Did samsung remove it ? Or is it just the specific CSC that disables this function?
Could anyone else see if this "Marked as default" exists into their phone....after lollipop update??
Thanks in advance
Hello,
I cannot really say anything about Note 4, but the same thing happened on my S4+ when I updated to Lollipop. The "mark as default" option is gone and I've yet to figure out how to actually do that.
I know this is not really helping with this problem at all, but at least others will now know that it's not something that has happened to just them.
Hi there,
the feature is stull there.
let say you have more than 2 numbers for one of your contact.
you have to long press on one of the number, then a pop-menu will appear, click the "set as default" if you wanr to make it a default number.
hopefully the above helps.
regards,
morisa

I am having the same problem. It is important feature and I cannot understand how it was taken away from the upgrade. Do disaapointed.

I think it is lollipop restriction... I do not know why.. It was a good feature!
This feature is also now missing on my Galaxy S5, after the Lollipop update.
I also really preferred this feature, being able to select which photo to use. There appears to be a heirarchy list, to which the Contact list will populate the photo, and it is as follows:
Self taken picture > LinkedIn > Google+ > Facebook
So, if the contact is being forced into an image I do not prefer, the only work-around that I have able to come up with is unlinking the connection with the contact. So, if said contact doesn't have a LinkedIn photo associated with their account, I have do disassociate it with the contact, lest be forced to see I grey blank picture icon.
Very annoying...wish they would fix this.
This feature is still there, but buggy.
Hello, I found this feature! But it looks like the update to Android 5.0.1 made it buggy.
I upgraded my AT&T S4 to 5.0.1 and the "Mark as Default" option went away but after trial and error I noticed it only went away for contacts that I had linked to a Facebook entry. If I un-linked a Facebook entry from a contact, the menu item came back. I could use it to set the defaults. Then I re-linked the Facebook entry and the defaults were preserved.
The looks like a bug to me but I'm not sure on what level it was changed (Samsung/Google/AT&T)

I found some kind of workaround, but it's very empirical:
- Go to the details of a contact you want to change the default name or picture of, and click on the link icon. You will be redirected to the list of linked contact for the person
- From there, just unlink the contacts who don't have the right name and picture, one by one, all except the one who has the name and picture you want to keep.
- Then, add back all the linked contacts again, one by one. The contact name and picture shouldn't change from the previous step.
It did work for me. The only issue I see is that you might not be able to mix the name of linked contact #1 with picture of contact #2 for example.
Found a work around
While in the edit menu of the contact simply click on each linked profile tab(ie facebook, google, linkedin) and hit the photo then remove photo for all the ones you dont want and it will go to the only available photo.
Work around solution

Go to the contact and hit edit. Add another phone number (you can make it 999-999-9999). Hit save. The phone should recognize this as a conflict and ask you "Mark as default - This contact has more than 1 phone number /email address. Select default?" Click OK. It should take you to a screen where you can then select the default Caller ID photo (facebook, google, linkedin, etc.) and other defaults (phone, email, etc.).
It's a hassle, but it works for me.
Nice one peep's, now at least we got back some control from this chaos of the Lollipop upgrade to 5.0.1.
Either unlink all, choose the one we want as default, then re-link. Or... un-link all, remove the other pictures or Names etc we don't want from the other accounts, then re-link keeping the default one we want as default.

This is a good work-around but they made our life harder by taking a simple good thing away. Unless of course it's a bug that should be fixed in Lollipop 5.1.
If you long hold the item that is currently set as default, you can choose to remove the default status. Then long hold the item that you want, and choose to mark it as default.
