sorry if this seems cluttered im at work and typed this out as fast as possible.
hope this helps some of you.
If I am not mistaken, is root required?
That method for pairing with Sixaxis is not required, can all be done on the tablet itself with a USB OTG cable.
Root is required however.

Well. Poop
yes root is required and you can use usb otg or do it through your pc if you dont have a usb otg.
i keep getting no controller found after going through all the steps.
Simultaneously connect to a bluetooth headset?
I got to pair my N7 and PS3 controller thru Sixaxis just fine. But it prevents me to simultaneously connect to a bluetooth headset. So I have to disconnect my bluetooth headset and connect my PS3 controller. Does anyone know which bluetooth headset would work simultaneously with the PS3 controller?
I can not get mine to pair. Keeps saying there is no controller found on the n7. I installed both version as stated on the website.
I changed the address from the n7 and put that on the program. Not really sure what is wrong
Got it working, just had to unplug the ps3 controller then start it up.

Good night. I started this post to share with you all hardware usb devices that i have tested and worked without problem into OUYA.
First, i get an usb host with 5 usb ports , because ouya just have one standard usb port,
Usb .host worked without problem, and connected to it:
Keyboard and wireless mouse: i have tried 3 different models of keyboard + mouse wireless combo and all worked very well. Instant response and now i can navigate trought ouya like in Pc hihi
Usb memory sticks: I tried 1gb capacity, and also 4,8,16 and 32gb and all worked witount problems. Take note that you first need to install any file manager to get into usb contents.
Xbox 360 wireless controller: as its seems not to pair, if you use it into any emulator you can pair and configure buttons with it
I tried to use my Logitech g930s and it actually detected it and it allowed to Moro reduce and increase the system volume. Sadly I couldn't hear anything out of them. I might try again some other time.
Glad to hear that multiple USB Devices are working with Ouya.
OP, the Xbox 360 controller is NOT Bluetooth, though the Wii/WiiU/PS3 controllers are.
Sabrent 32' active USB extender works
Logitech Trackman Wheel works
Logitech unifying receiver and MX515 couch mouse work, but is registered as controller 1 at boot. It locked up the OUYA when first tried hot plugging it in to extender. Works when installed before boot, and had been paired by PC.
Belkin 4 port USB hub works plugged in to active 32' cable with trackball and 2gb USB stick. Hot swapped after wireless mouse was unplugged from ouya. wireless Mouse works connected through hub on reconnect. Pushed it with a 32gb stick, which was not recognized. Rebooted and 32gb stick was recognized but not 2gb. Both mice worked but controller still shows up as 2 even though I turned off the mouse when booting.
So what is a good USB game controller available cheap? It is now the end of two business weeks that I requested a replacement controller and I still haven't received it
Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Toshiba 1tb capacity, in NTFS format and helped by an app called "Paragon NTFS&HFS+" worked witout problem, so ouya also has compatibility with high capacity ntfs formatted hard drives ))

Best USB controller hands down is the wired version of the Xbox 360 controller. In the UK its about £20. Very long cable on them with a breakpoint which is handy for kid sisters running through your room. Functions fine under android and windows, can be gotten to work on other Linux systems and Macs fine too. £20 from other brands seems to get you nothing in comparison. Also makes a good club for hitting people when they beat you although the wireless controller has more heft to it so is a bit better there
Nkte, common mistake I have seen people do. Do not buy the play and charge kit for a regular wireless controller thinking it allows you to use it via USB, it doesn't. Also the proper USB reciever for a wireless 360 controller doesn't work correctly on android systems.
Otherwise, Logitech might be your best bet but I personally swear by the wired 360 controllers. Hopefully when the one is released the 360 controllers will have a price crash, I'll probably stock up on a handful more.
I can confirm the PS3 Sixaxis Controller is working!
EDIT: Bluetooth & Wired-connection works fine.
Cool! We have now xbox360 and ps3 sisaxis fully working!!
I have a ps3 media remote but cant get the ouya to see it. Anyone else try this yet?
Update: I was able to see the remote under bluetooth devices but it asks me for a pin number. didnt see one in the manual
Does the xbox 360 wireless adapter (for PC) work for Ouya ?? I got one queued up in my Amazon cart but trying to get some feedback first. Wired 360 controller works great, acts just like an Ouya controller. Wiimote with Wiimote Controller is hit or miss on my programs. Don't have access to any PS3 controllers, but have lots of 360 controllers lying around.

Can you be more specific? So many threads are filled with poor information or redundant information. It would be great if we could all provide as much information as possible. The point of this thread is to inform others of what does and does not work so that they we don't all have to repeat the same trial and error process.

Yes it does. I cannot compare with a wired one, but for me it is working. The support on the games is not 100% but I dont think that this is a a receiver fault more than a implementation thing. AFAIK there are different input management APIs on ODK. It seems that some games uses hardcoded keycodes instead of new OUYA API for controller compatibility.
For exmplae, in Stalagfligt, none PS3 nor Xbox works, Ice Rage only works with PS3 controller and SCi-Fi fighters with Xbox one.

Do you have to have root for this?
Edit: Yes

Did you try 1234 or 0000? Those tend to be standards for pairing.

Hi guys, does anyone know if there's a way to alter the button functions of a USB mouse? I'm using a standard Dell mouse and left, right and middle click are all set to tap, it'd be nice to map right and middle click to different functions if possible, like back and menu.
Are the button functions baked in to the ROM? Or does it depend on which mouse you're using? I had a quick look for mouse button mapping apps but couldn't find anything, it was all virtual mouse apps for controlling PC etc.

Morning.
Last week or so I've been trying to get my PS3 Dualshock 3 Sixaxis controller working with my Nexus 7 via the Micro USB port, and I'm about to give up completely.
I've googled enough to make my head spin, so this is pretty much my last hope for a solution. I've tried with 4.1.1, 4.1.2 & 4.2.2.
I've mailed the developers of the apps mentioned below, but have yet to recieve any response. This was done more than just 1-2 days ago.
I've tried with & without rooting.
The controller works fine when connecting it to my computer & Transformer Prime. It's been close to fully charged all the time.
The Gameklip cable & the OTG-cable works. I can access HDD's, flashdrives & even the SD-card on my PSP.
While using the OTG-cable, I've tried with different USB - Mini USB cables.
Sixaxis Controller using Bluetooth works fine, not a single problem there. I can also add my Nexus 7's MAC-address to the controller via the app without any trouble.
USB/BT Joystick Center 8 finds the controller, but refuses to accept any input from it. The same developer has released a joystick analyzer, and it recognizes the correct vendor & product ID of the controller.
The keylayout file exists & is correctly mapped in my usr/keylayout directory. I've also tried using the Transformers keylayout on the Nexus 7.
And here's the kicker, the spare Gamestop Xbox 360 controller I've got laying around works without a problem. Which almost led to me frisbeeing this ****ing thing out the window. And even though it works, it's not a viable alternative for me since it doesn't fit in the Gameklip.
At this point I'm up for crazy ideas, so any help, no matter how far out there, is appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to read through this, and if you have any ideas that might help, thanks in advance!

Sorry for the thread resurrection here but I have searched high and low on the internet and this is the only thing that I find that comes close to the same exact problem I am having. The only difference is I have a galaxy s3 running cyanogenmod 10.2. Same issue on 10.1. I can get a wired 360 controller to work just fine and even a Wii classic controller with a USB adapter to work. No Dualshock 3 though. You ever able to fix this?
I have tried through bluetooth and the phone is unable to pair with the controller. Is there any other way to work around this issue and connect wirelessly? Also will a USB-C OTG cable work with the 6P?
I haven't received my 6P yet but on my 6 I use sixaxis controller with my ps3 controller. Not sure if ps4 controller does native Bluetooth gamepad or you need to use the app.
Use this to set the parent address to your nexus 6ps bluetooth mac address (you can find it in settings->about)
http://www.dancingpixelstudios.com/sixaxiscontroller/tool.html
Then connect it as a standard bluetooth device.
Unfortuantely after 30sec it starts lagging terribly
So I successfully got the ps4 controller to pair over Bluetooth without adjusting any settings. It wouldn't work at first but it added it as a device. Then when I tried again the next day after restarting the phone it connected.
you have to hold PS button and share at the same time until you get the flashing white light.
However, the triggers mapped weird for games and there is lag.
Does anyone know of a way to fix the mapping without root?
I also successfully used the OTG cable with the ps3 controller. This worked a lot better this works a lot faster then the Bluetooth ps4. And the mapping is correct.
Haven't tried usb to ps4 yet. UPDATE
So ps4 over otg also has some mapping issues. Tested this out in minecraft settings since you can customize controller mapping. For some reason on ps4 some buttons didn't seem to me recognized, everything was weird, like r2 was labeled as a button and triangle wasn't showing anything.
Tried to connect ps3 via Bluetooth but couldn't get it to work
Going crazy here trying to connect my wired knockoff PS3 Gamepad to the G4 ! The cable is good it seems as I can connect a thumbdrive and OTG Troubleshooter detect OTG when I plug in the Gamepad. Unfortunately is it NOT recognized by any games.
I found a Gamepad discussion for the Moto G and some people were having similar problems, one trick was to use USB Joystick Center 2015. That app is no longer on the Appstore for some reason but I found it on an APK repository. It did indeed find my Gamepad (MaxFire Blaze 2) but I can't really map keys automatically or manually.
Anyway, has anyone had more luck ? Thanks for any help !
PS - managed to connect a bluetooth Gamepad but that's creating massive interference with the WiFi connection to my drone , hence my quest to use a USB Gamepad.
Answering my own question, hopefully it will help someone, managed to get USB PS3 Gamepad native support by flashing the Pacman ROM here http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/development/rom-pac-rom-6-mm-moto-g4-g4-plus-t3453595
Well, it gets better, using the stock ROM and flashing the Elemental Kernel here http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/development/kernel-elementalx-g4-0-01-t3424836 actually adds USB PS3 Gamepad support, wonderful !
