Check SIM Lock status without foreign SIM - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to do this on this phone? Didn't find anything in the about menus or the system info code menu.

You don't need a foreign SIM. Any SIM from another Carrier (also Carriers from your country) will trigger the SIM lock.

Ah, that's what I meant -- without a SIM from another company.

Nope. Not on the X play unfortunately. You could ask your carrier if your phone is locked.

[Q] Sim unlock for T-mobile Nexus 4?

Hello everbody,
i read all threads related to SIM unlock on T-mobile nexus here on xda, and many people suggested that Nexus 4 comes factory unlocked, even from T-mobile, but it seems that's not true!?
I wrote about this in thread bellow,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38939958#post38939958
and many people there wrote that Nexus 4 is always factory unlocked, doesn't matter which GSM provider, but it seems that's not true!
When i inserted my european SIM card, here in Europe, in T-mobile Nexus 4, arrived today at me, GSM signal is locked !? Is there any solution for sim unlock?
Thanks!
Greetzz!

It`s not locked! Change your sim with a proper microsim!
It seems you didn't read my previous post, i wrote, micro-sim card is already used, but there is again GSM signal locked!

nexus 4 isnt sim locked. check to be sure that your APNs are set up right for your carrier. why do you think its locked? are you not getting a signal or do you get a locked message? have you checked with tmobile to make sure your account is set up right?

1) Can you take a screen shot of the message you get while on WiFi?
2) Are you sure it's Carrier SIM locked and not "SIM card lock"?
3) Was your SIM card cut down from mini to micro?
4) Are you sure it was not reported Lost / Stolen and it's IMEI blacklisted by the carrier?
5) Have you tried another SIM from a different carrier?
As far as I know, all GSM Nexus phones do not support the option for carriers to lock them to their networks.
I had a Nexus S that was subsidized by T-Mobile and it worked just fine on US AT&T, and France SFR networks.
The SFR SIM I used had a PIN on it, so I would have to enter the PIN on boot before I could use it.
Its an unlocked phone...
If it was locked, when you insert a foreign Sim into a carrier locked phone, it pops up a requester for an unlock code.

You are absolutey right my friend ! Hehe, yeah, but you know, when man feels like a lost , can't think with rationalism, so i was afraid i'm lost and there is phone sim locked, but there was stupid problem with sim card!
So to conclude, definetely no locked Nexus 4 with or without contract, it can be used with any sim card and GSM provider !
Once Big Tnx to all nice guys who participated in this thread to help me! Really i appreciate it!

Locked used phones and activation

Hi,
I'm about to buy a locked and used Note 3 and I'm planning to unlock it with a Sim unlock code from a website. The thing is, I don't know which models can be unlock through this method. Is there any limitation? For example, can I unlock a Sprint device to use on GSM carriers? Or T-Mobile/AT&T only?
Also, for carrier locked phones, do I need to activate it beforehand with the specific carrier Sim card? For example, do I need a T-Mobile Sim card, activate the T-mobile phone and then, use my unlock Sim code with my own Sim card? Or can I just skip the activation process and ?
Thank you so much for your time!

Is a SIM unlock code a 1-stop unlock fix?

Hi there,
Sorry to say that I'm sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't find the right search query to find a decent answer.
I'm curious what the value of a sim unlock from one of the many websites out there is? I don't mean the price, but will that code alone make my phone usable in a different region (assuming that the network type is supported?)
I've read a lot of information about region locks on phones, as well as SIM locks. I guess to simplify my question: Do I need to do both of these things, or is the SIM unlock sufficient?
Also, is there a site that sells these codes which XDA supports?
Thanks so much to anyone who can help or direct me to a decent answer.
Well, that depends on how your cell phone is locked. Some phones are locked to a region, let's say if it's region locked in europe it will work with any SIM card in europe, but some are SIM locked to a specific carrier and they will work only with SIM cards from that network and that country. The most unlocking websites on the market sell SIM unlock codes, because if one has an locked phone and whant to use another sim card, it's probably SIM locked. There are many reliable unlocking online services out there, like www.unlockradar.com or www.unlockbase.com

xt1609 won't give prompt for unlock code

I just bought an unlock code for this phone but when i put in a new sim it didn't ask for an unlock code, doesn't ask for anything actually, just gives me the 'sim card is not from Verizon' notification. Is there any other way to insert the unlock code?

What kind of SIM are you using? I used a Freedompop Global GSM SIM and didn't have that issue.
I had the same issue, I'm from Venezuela and my sim card is from Digitel, any help is welcome

Yes, you have to unlock it but you won't get any service with the FP Global SIM. At the time I unlocked, I only had the FP Global SIM and I've since got the FP LTE SIM.
You can get band 2 and band 4 LTE through AT&T with the FP LTE SIM and it works pretty well. You won't get GSM 3G (HSPA/UMTS) and you can't make phone calls* over cellular with this phone with a GSM SIM, but with the FP LTE SIM you can make calls and send texts over data using Google Voice and Hangouts/Hangouts Dialer or using the FP app.
* some people have reported that you can send texts over cellular with a GSM SIM.

Dual Lte don't work

I have in slot one O2 and in slot two a T-mobile card.
Standard network Slot is Slot one. Dual Lte is activated.
When I have a call from slot 1 I can use Internet during the call. When I use slot 2 for calls the Internet don't work during a call.
Someone a idea who I can use Internet too when I call whit Sim/Slot 2 card?
Thanks

I have the same settings. But both (call and Internet) I can use only the same time when the call start from the sim who stay in my "standard data", in this case sim 2.
So when I start a call from sim 1 I can't use the Internet during the call [emoji19]

I think you are misunderstanding the meaning of Dual 4G/LTE.
It's for VoLTE.
It's not for pure data connections.
You still need to chose an active SIM.
There is no auto switch data active. That sounds like what you want. LTE line with no call.
Doesn't work that way.

OK. Thank you. Yes, so I misunderstanding. But I remember my last Phone, the Mate 10 this works. So perhaps I must back to Huawei[emoji17] because its important for me.

VoLte active on both sim "Jio" and "Vodafone" but during call internet active only if the call n data Sim is same, if call n data on different sim then internet disconnected.
I was glad to hear that Google are adding dual sim support to Android Q.
I've only tried dual sim about 3 times and I didn't have a very good experience.
I might read it somewhere that SOC 845 doesn't support real 4g standby.
