How do I get commands to show in stock recovery - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a stock update zip for 6.0 and I'm trying to flash from stock recovery... I get thru bootloader into recovery but no commands show up... Just the android with the red exclamation point on a black screen... Is there a button combination I need to hold to show commands for flashing the update zip? I've tried most of them I can think of for 5 seconds any that involve the power button turn off the phone

[Q] Recovery mode black screen

I have a Nexus 4 with 4.2.2. I was following this guide to root:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/nex...t-4-2-2-a.html
On step 10, after choosing recovery, my phone is stuck at a blank & black screen. If I hold down power, power + volume down, or power + volume up, it just boots back into a black screen. It vibrates as if it's rebooting but won't get out of the black screen. Any ideas?

Page not found. The easiest way to root your phone is to use the chainfire auto root. You need the Google SDK package installed for the ADB commands, unlock your bootloader, then run the auto root. You can flash CWM recovery or TWRP through the Rom manager app, or Goo manager app available via playstore. It sounds like you may have soft bricked it somehow.
did you ever figure this out?
Download a recovery (CWM)
Download and install the Android SDK if you haven't already (Or at least fastboot.exe)
Paste the recovery into the folder with fastboot.exe
Navigate to the folder with fastboot.exe in CMD (Command Line)
Plug in your phone
Boot into fastboot (I'm assuming your bootloader is unlocked)
Type in fastboot flash recovery (Recovery file name EXACTLY with the file extension, which should be .img I think)
Should have a working recovery

[Q] Cyanogenmod 10.1(or 10.2) stuck in bootloop? D:

So about a few hours ago I saw that I could download the new 10.2 cyanogenmod. I wanted it because it was Android 4.3, so I downloaded it. I tried watching flash movies and stuff, and the browsers and stuff kept crashing, and the internet didn't work completely. So, I downloaded 10.1 again, and installed it. It rebooted to the teamwin thing, and then rebooted again. A few minutes after, I was curious as to why it was still loading. Waited a long time, and it still was on the CM boot logo thing. Im using the Nexus 7 toolkit (its called something else, but im not sure what. The icon is a red toolbox with 3 tools in it), and can't reboot into recovery or flash stock back on it. How can I get it out of bootloop? I really need help! D:
Press all the three buttons , power , volume up and volume down together and boot into bootloader. From boot loader use volume buttons to go onto recovery , do a clean wipe there and reflash a ROM. Another alternative is to use adb and type
Code:
adb reboot recovery
then wipe clean and reflash ROM.

You Probably forgot to do one or some of these steps before flashing, I had the same problem today trying to flash 10.2:

Hi Red Devil,
I just tried to install CM 10.1.3 on my Motorola Atrix HD.
I forgot to wipe data and cache before installing the ROM, and now it is stuck in the boot animation.
When I press the power and volume keys down together, it takes my phone to a black screen, and when I press them again on the black screen it gives me a brief menu that says
"Normal power up"
"Recovery"
"AP Fastboot"
"Factory"
and another one I can't recall.
This screen times out in about 3 seconds. and regardless of which item from the menu I select, it still shows my boot logo, then the CM animation. I cant boot into fastboot or recovery, and I can't find anything good online to help me.
Help! What do I do?

[Q] Problem when attempting to flash TWRP

Hello,
I rooted my phone with no issues. Then when preparing to get TWRP on my phone I was setting up ADB via this tutorial
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XslKnEE4Qo8
and got the phone to be recognized as device in the cmd window, but when doing the adb reboot bootloader step, the phone just reboots to vzw logo and then the home screen. After being stuck at that step I tried this method http://androidfannetwork.com/2013/09/18/twrp-recovery-available-for-lg-g2-att-and-verizon/ using flashify but after flashing and hitting the reboot button my phone wouldn't turn on and thought I bricked it until I waited a few and then had to hold the power button down for 15 seconds and it turned on. But now I can't get to the white screen reset menu (Stock recovery menu?) using the power+vol down method. Is my stock recovery borked? Any tips on how to get twrp on my phone, hoping it installs over the broken stock recovery. Thanks in advance for reading this.

Need a little bit of help, can't boot into stock recovery

So after flashing the kit kat factory images from here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occam I noticed my Nexus 4 was showing 5.67 gb free space instead of the 13+gb my 16 gb model should have. I tried following the guide mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2033692 but failed to even reboot into stock recovery.
I tried flashing stock recovery through fastboot and it showed no errors yet when I try booting into stock recovery, a screen with the android laying down and a red exclamation mark pops up.
Tried flashing all images again and still no success into booting into stock recovery OR fixing my free space. Any ideas what I can do?
Help is appreciated!
and to clarify, I am able to flash a custom recovery and boot into it but completely unable to boot into stock recovery. Only an Android with a red exclamation mark pops up but no menu. Any ideas? :-\
Are you pressing the power button then vol+ when yoy see the dead Android?
When you see the android laying down, use the volume button to scroll and the power button to select.

Recovery and the red triangle android

I've tried a few methods of getting recovery back but so far have failed. I always end up with that droid and a red warning triangle, which if left long enough it will boot into android on its own.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
what "few methods"?
I got it cleared up. Admins feel free to delete this thread. Thank you.
I'm actually having this issue as well, I'm curious what you did to solve it?
I flash twrp with fastboot and get the red triangle when I attempt to boot into recovery. However from fastboot if I do the boot recovery.img command, twrp will boot up and run fine, but I cannot boot back into recovery straight from the bootloader, without booting from fastboot.
When you get the Triangle press power then volume up.
Am I holding down the buttons until it reboots? Or just pressing the combo once?
I'm not sure what the true issue was in my case. I downloaded another copy of twrp, flashed it and everything worked out. Bad cable or corrupt file maybe. I'm not sure.
