So I'm getting a new phone for Christmas and I'd prefer not to spend more than 400 dollarsish. With that in mind the main phones I'm looking at are the LG g flex 2 ($300), the LG g4 ($430), and the moto x pure ($400). With the LG g flex 2 I'm wary of the last gen camera as well as some people complaining about graininess on the p-oled display. It is oled which I love. The overheating isn't a problem for me since I very very rarely game. The g4 has what I've heard is an amazing display but from what I've seen it looks a little blueish and it isn't that accurate. Plus, it's ips but I've heard it's contrast is excellent. Now, the moto x pure. I love the looks and supposed feel of this phone but there are two things keeping me from this phone as well. While it's display is bright and accurate, I worry about contrast ratios which seem pretty average. The second thing is that from what I've heard most if not all tempered glass screen protectors don't fit properly and leave a halo. If anyone's had any experience with any of these three you advice is welcome. Other suggestions are welcome but please try to keep it at around $400 or less
Do you like LG software? The Moto X is stock android which for folks that prefer that makes LG skin undesirable. My Moto X pure runs so smooth with very little lag (not specifically NO lag but it's few and far between) and I love the screen. Came from a 2013 x and galaxy s6 (both amoled) and I don't miss the technology at all. It's nice to have peace of mind that burn in isn't a worry and the brightness is absurd on this device. That said, I'm a bit annoyed at moto display, as you can see the whole screen turn on (since it's not amoled).
Finally, the larger screen with smaller form factor of the Moto X is a huge plus to me. The screen to body ratio is best between comparable phones. The bezels are small, the curved back gives it a nice feel and it's still one handable despite being so large.
Edit: I'm not using any case or screen protector and must day there's something about this device. The screen doesn't pick up finger prints like other phones. I find myself needing to clean this one off far less than other phones even with no screen protector.

Temp glass screen protector is a non issue mine was applied perfectly. Honestly I think people just don't know how to apply it properly sometimes. Mine looks perfect you wouldn't even be able to tell its on. I have to agree with MKBHD that this moto x pure is the best phone in its price range.

I had the G4 and loved it. My vision isn't that great so as long as there's no screen burn in I can't tell one display from another. I loved being able to swap batteries and of course the sd card slot. I'm on Verizon so the locked bootloader and lack of development eventually drove me away. I also had touchscreen issues. Sometimes touches didn't register at all or they did incorrectly. And LG has by far the worst stock keyboard I've ever used. It would autocorrect words that were typed correctly to gibberish. But that's an easy fix to change the keyboard. Even so, it would often miss keystrokes so a good keyboard would still be off sometimes.
I've been using a MXP since they released and I love it. I honestly have no major complaints. I sorta wish it had a fully functional notification light but I have a Wear watch so that's really not needed. I installed a $5 eBay glass screen protector and it fits like a glove. I paid extra for the 64gb and sorta wish I'd have saved money and got the 16gb. The imminent Marshmallow update will allow you to format an sd card to be used as internal memory.

Had the g4 and its a beauty especially the camera but I'm a sucker for stock Android and this moto is excellent . Bright high resolution screen and stock plus a few extra moto apps that make stock even better, love motos notifications ... I'd take the pure over the g4 I have not regretted it one bit. And moto maker is awesome I got Ref bezels and black leather it looks phenomenal

I just recently switched from an LG G3 to this phone. No regrets so far!
The screen is fine, might be better than my G3. Performance difference is almost night and day! The G3 is one of the most laggiest I've had. Even the LG G2 beats it in that regard.
As for the camera, I rarely use it, but it seems like it's on par with the G3.
As for the user experience, I might hand it to the G3 (or I'm still adjusting?). I miss the double tap to wake/sleep, ability to customize nav bar icons, organize quick toggles etc.
I just feel that stock android is too much restricted now (I'll definitely give CM13 a try in the future).
There's a major annoyance/bug in the Moto X Pure - the notification/ringtone sounds are buggy. They always fail to play the notif/ringtone sound. What an annoyance. I always miss texts/FB messages, you name it.
Lastly for the battery, it's slightly better. I'm always getting 4-5hrs of SoT compared to my G3 (3-4hrs max only).

Can you give me a link to your protector?
Thanks everybody for your replies I think I might go for the X pure if anyone has any other suggestions in this price range I'm still open to suggestions also, is it worth it to spend the extra $50 for the 32 gb version? I have a micro SD card so media storage won't be on the phone storage primarily. many thanks
Might be depending the SD card you have. Android mm can use SD as internal so the 16 might be on if you've got a big card. I personally went with 64 and I have 128 GB card so I'm maxed out.
Here is the link to the protector I got

I've also tried the skinomi in the past but I like this brand better

Sweet I've got a 32gb SD card from Samsung's evo line so I think I might go with the 32gb option just to play it safe. Thanks a bunch
The LG G3 skin is ugly. The dialer is the ugliest thing I have ever had to look at. Go with the Moto.

So through a whole of problems with the GS4, and a little stroke of luck, I happened upon a Moto X 2014. I must say, the phone is smooth as butter. But I still feel like something is missing. My battery isn't a great feet, my camera is poor at best. The phone however is the fastest and smoothest I've ever seen an android phone. It makes me melt. But after using the LG G2 which I had for 2 days before this....I miss it comparatively to this. Just as fast, much larger battery, beautiful screen. The Moto X doesn't even have a "power save" feature, and that would at lest be helpful. I almost want to wait for the Droid Turbo, but by then my 14 days would be up. I'm just not sure what to do. So my question to others.....Are you happy with this device? or would you switch, given the opportunity? If so, to what?
In happy, if the camera was better, I would be happier, but I'll hold out for L in hopes of improved camera performance. If not, I have another upgrade in April, maybe grab a turbo if it doesn't look as bad as it has in the leaked photos.
I'm think off going back the LG G2. The camera may be the breaking point for me.

I don't take many pictures, but the ones I have taken have been fine. On par with a majority of the smart phones I have owned except a few that were above average. Most of them are just "meh" and any difference is still not great so I just don't let it get to me. If pictures were priority I would still be on the Lumia 930 hands down, or maybe the iPhone 6 plus, but not most of the Android handsets available that's for sure.
Overall I love the phone though. It just a great phone to use and really when it comes down to it that is what matters. There are things that could use improvement (screen brightness, camera, battery life). But none of those factors are BAD, just not exceptional. I get through a day with ease and the screen is fine except in bright sunlight. The phone makes up for it with a great feel and ease of use. Its super fast and fluid, and little things like ActiveDisplay just make it all that much better of an experience. Of all the phones I have owned in the last year (a lot) it is the first one I feel content with and not pining for a new phone (which is rare for me). I am excited for Android L .
I love my Moto X. I too came from a Galaxy S4 running CyanogenMOD and this is so smooth without having to do any tweaking whatsoever. I've had this phone for 11 days and I already try to wave my hand over other people's phones and expect it to just turn on when I pick it up. These may be new features I can't live without.
Short answer....best phone I have ever owned
I came from the HTC One, HTC One M8, and LG G3. Also had the Nexus 5 as my daily driver before leaving it for LG G3. ... This phone trumps them all (still use m8 for low light photos)
The bad......nothing really. The camera and battery are decent enough.....just nothing to brag on.
As far as performance....nothing is close. So smooth...so fast.....so fluid.
The phone screen looks amazing and the stereo headphone jack is provides the best sound I have heard outside of the HTCOne.
No phone is perfect.....but this phone came very close
I think it's too top heavy and not comfortable to hold. Maybe cuz I got leather and have a subconscious fear of scratching it or something. Ultimately, its fate w/me is doomed due to no root on verizon.
I'll give up the X if nexus comes out on verizon.

This is the only downfall for me as well. I want gravitybox so bad. Just for the PIE controls so I can hide the nav bar. That extra screen real estate along with the one handed reachability would make this phone perfect for me.
I don't care about the camera quality, not a big deal for me. And the battery life is sufficient for me.

you'll be happy that L will bring this:
1. power saver built in
2. native code for camera stuff
3. project volt, which is supposed to help in battery
4. ...and much more
right now, there is nothing on the market that I want. so no, i would not switch. next year, maybe
after a week or so of using its okay. battery life sucks, i dont care about the camera, not sure why but many apps crash on it more than my nexus 5, and i can barely just barely see some hiccups/lag when navigating through the homescreen and some apps ill wait for android L tho

Do you have ART enabled?
This phone is not top heavy, the center of its mass is right in the middle of the phone.
Just balance it on the index finger and you will see.
Best phone I used so far as well. But I never had any flagship devices before. Just a last years moto x, moto g, galaxy i9070... and an HTC one m8 as a phone for work, that's it.
But I saw many friends struggling with flagships while I was enjoying my moto x 2013.
I gave the HTC one m8 back to my boss and use the mx2013 now for my work and the mx2014 for private uses.
The mx2013 gave me an excellent experience, so I had no other choice than buying its successor.
BTW I hated the m8 even compared to the mx2013.
If Motorola doesn't **** it up, I'll buy their devices for a long time.
I could not be happier
Battery life could be bettet but ive yet to run out of it after a full day of work

It's in developer options. Don't enable it. Several users have reported an increase in force closes.
It's a bigger, faster, smoother moto x. If you liked the 2013 x but wanted something bigger, this will make you happy.
I like it, originally I let all the negative reviews get to me and even went back to my nexus 5 for a day. Then I realized how much nicer the moto x is. Its a great well rounded device. Unlocked bootloader with full warranty in tact, good camera, decent battery life, fast updates, near aosp and other great specs. Oh, and every time I'm on the phone I can smell wonderful leather lol.

That's what I read from the Motorola feedback network administrator, he said they are "treating the pure edition like the 2013 Dev edition."
I love it, but I am interested in seeing what the Turbo and Nexus 6 bring to table, especially since it'll be on VZW. That being said, jumping to 5.2" from 4.7" was noticeable, can't really imagine carrying around 5.96"...
I'm very interested in buying the Droid Turbo but fear that the screen is small. What phones did everyone come from prior to having the Turbo? I've personally used the entire Note series and loved them, and currently own the LG G3. I love the specs of the Turbo, especially the battery, but fear the screen is just to small.
I'm coming from a G2. It's a comparable size to the G2 and the battery seems similar so far.

I had a Razr Maxx HD, 4.7" screen. My brother currently has a G3 and I have the Turbo. I feel the screens are almost the same size because of his on screen buttons, although they do go away sometimes. But I feel like it's more or less the same anyway.

Good point about the buttons!
Someone else posted the same exact thing. The biggest thing with Turbo is that it doesn't have on screen buttons, so it seems larger than the G3.
Does this help?

Droid Turbo is slightly shorter and narrower, but slightly thicker. The screen itself seems to be a bit shorter and narrower as well.
SGS3 user here. The Turbo is leaps and bounds better than my S3. My ultimate benchmark was to load GTA: San Andreas on both phones. The Turbo trounced the S3 in every aspect from installation time, to graphics settings. I had to run all low settings to even get a playable game on the S3 and the Turbo could max everything (except "car detail" was turned down to "normal" because I was getting a slight decrease in FPS). Installation time of apps in general is noticeably faster as well. The only bottleneck is my internet. The color on the Turbo is much better as well. I never noticed how blue the screen on my S3 was until I compared it to the Turbo. I have a mostly white wallpaper and the Turbos whites are outstanding. The only things I miss about my S3 are the removable battery (ZeroLemon 7000mAh battery FTW) and root capability. I love Xposed-- I stopped using custom ROMS because of Gravity Box paired with CM11. Hopefully someone will come out with a good root method. If that happens, I will never look back.

Only because I am a complete and absolute genius have I been able to solve your problem for you.... if the droid turbo screen is too small for you, buy a NEXUS 6.
... its the same phone, but bigger screen -- 6".
I'm coming from a Droid DNA.
And right now, I'm having buyer's remorse. Not loving it yet.
Just got the Turbo yesterday as a work phone, previous work phone being an HTC One M7. I like it a lot so far but I'm really hoping to see at least root on this.
Also own the G3 for a personal phone and still like it a lot more than my Turbo

I've heard a couple of people say this now, and it just sounds weird to me. Too small? Are you coming from a tablet?
IMHO, 5.2" is just marginally too large.
My criteria are, must be able to hold phone in one hand, supporting bottom with pinky (so it doesn't slide out) and reach 100% of screen surface area using only the thumb of the hand the phone is being held in.
If I ever have to use both hands in order to use my phone, I consider it to be a fail.
I got used to the LG G2's 5.2" screen before this, but reaching the far end (top opposite side of thumb) of the screen is a stretch without shifting the phone in my hand (and risking dropping it) even in my rather large hands.
An ideal screen size for my hands would probably be just a smidge smaller, in the 4.8" to 5.0" range somewhere.
I recall the 4.8" screen in my old Galaxy S3 feeling just about perfect in use.
I wish they would stop making the high end phones only in these crazy large tablet sizes. I was looking forward to the Nexus 6, but it was WAAAAAY too big. Settled on the Droid Turbo, even though it is a little large.
Came from the 2013 Moto G Verizon 3G 8GB variant.
Prior was
Droid 4
Droid 3
Droid 1
I'd get a Droid 5 if it came out >.>;;;

It's hard for me to find a phone I really like. I upgraded from the G3, but the battery life really isn't that much better. Granted my G3 was rooted, debloated, and had lots of battery life tweaks, the camera is worse on the Turbo and I prefer the more accurate LCD of the G3 over the oversaturated and warm Turbo.

Actually as soon as I got the phone I noticed that my S3 was brighter, by quite a bit. Inside, the turbo is fine, but I fear that it might be pretty terrible in sunlight.

What reasons do you like the G3 more?
To the screen being to small, like I said I'm coming from LG G3 and the Note 1/2/3. I like the big screen phablets. I had the Galaxy S5 for a few months but I got rid of it because it was to small.
I've been thinking about the Nexus 6 but I think that may be to large. The Note was on the line of being to big.

Definitely the back buttons in combo with double-tap-to-wake.
It's also really nice having the removable back to add wireless charging and removable battery.
Plus I think the Droid lineup has worn out the Kevlar look, it's getting kind of cheesy. But it's a noticeably solid phone and I don't feel that I could break it easily like I do with my G3

This is what I like about the G3 over the Turbo:
5.5" display over a 5.2" display, in a phone just ever so slightly larger
On screen buttons
Better WiFi signal strength
More comfortable to hold, and easier to slide in and out of my pocket
Root. And better dev support so far
Much better rear camera, and OIS
More accurate IPS LCD, whites are white and not a slight yellow tint
MicroSD slot and removable battery
Doubletap to wake
And this is what I like better about the DROID Turbo:
Wireless charging included
Feels more durable and substantial
Active display
Wider and better quality front facing camera
Slightly better battery life
More grippier to hold, less chance of falling
Turbo charging
SIM card is easily removable
Display has a wider viewing angle
Brighter display and more saturated
No "oversharpening" problem
So my previous phone was a stock, freshly reset Nexus 5 on 5.1.1.
Got my G4 yesterday, did the usual disable bloatware process first. I cannot believe how much crap this phone has from LG and Tmobile. I then installed all of my apps, for some reason the auto restore process never works correctly for me. Google Please fix...
Anywho, the G4 "feels" less responsive then my old Nexus 5. It does not freeze or anything. I just see a short lag spike (best I can do as far as the description goes) in pretty much anything I do on the phone, moving between screens, or opening an email in Inbox and then scrolling, it will stutter the first time Im viewing the email. I changed the Dev settings to .5x for all animations, but that really didnt fix this issue. I can sit the two phones side by side after work today to actually perform some tests, maybe do a video.
The battery on the G4 sits at 100% for like 20 minutes no matter how I use then phone, it then drops like crazy from there. I have not done a full charge cycle, maybe thats just what happens when you start using the phone.
I accidentally removed the Google search bar that was 5x1, tried to re-add it and that widget is not available, only the 4x1 one is there, and you cannot resize it.
The phone got super hot when I was installing all of the apps.
Camera has no settings for quality (fine, normal etc) No option to disable OIS or IS. No option to set frame rate for recording. Kind of weird.
The Memory seems to have the usual Lollipop bug where the system has a memory leak. Such BS that google only fixed it in 5.1.1.
Leather feels nice, unlike anything else I felt on a phone before.
I'm in the same boat. I actually dropped my N5 recently and cracked the screen. I looked for a replacement but no luck. Not even for the screen only. I got my G4 the other day and I like it,but to be sure I just took a look at the N6 to compare. This G4 is almost as big screen wise in person. Plus the quad HD really looks great. So I'm sticking with this G4 (on sprint).
I'm really betting that we'll have root and I can get rid of some of these bloat apps. I can prob disable, but I want em gone. I also hope we get some good kernels. I was running franco kernel ony N5 and had a great experience.
I have a lot of the same experiences as you as well. There's a lot of potential here. Might have to step up myself because I'd love to see a lot of development.
Battery has lasted all day for me which is slightly longer than my N5. And I think if you want to change some of the camera options you prob have to use manual mode. There's a ton of options once you enable that.
You can send your N5 to LG for repair. That's what I did.
It worked about a year ago, hopefully they still offer that service. It was around $150
I had a nexus 5 and the phone was amsome... Wish i can just cram this cam on the N5... But i feel the same with the issues on the g4.. But this screen and and great... I can deal with it for now untill root comes

The Nexus 5 is one of the best phones of all time. I also feel that the Nexus 5 performs more smoothly than the Galaxy S6, G4, and pretty much every new phone. A fricking phone from 2013 is still spanking 2015 flagships. That's just sad. If the N5 just had a bigger battery and an awesome camera like the S6 and G4, I would probably use it for the rest of my life.

I feel the same except I had a CM 12.1 LG G2 that I dropped. The G2 feels a lot more smoother, has better battery life and was a better size fit for me. I'm hoping the new nexus 5 will be similar to the G2/nexus 5 2013 which I'll probably get after selling this phone on swappa or something. I'm also debating on returning this for the S6, but the S6 seemed more slower than the G4 when I was in store the other day
I seem to be the only one disappointed from my N5 haha
It freezes too much, camera is terrible (mine got broke.. focus is not working) and not to mention battery life.
I'm planning on switching to the G4 when prices will go down, so this post helped me. If you find it better, and you loved your N5, then I would definitely love the G4
Seems you guys should switch back to the N5. This replaced my N6 and im not looking back, im not getting lag on this phone and the battery is fine.
I also came from a N5. Battery life for me was atrocious and I didn't want to bother with putting a new one in (my luck I'd screw up something). I really like the G4 - the camera is the single best thing (aside from the battery life being better and the battery being user replaceable). But more than that, I like the feel of the phone in hand. That's one of those things you just don't appreciate until you have a device that feels that way.
Other improvements that I like with the G4 not present in the N5 (besides the camera and battery just mentioned)-
700 mhz LTE band 12 (HUGE PLUS for T-mo customers)
VoLTE
Wifi Calling (T-mo) *also no longer drops calls when wifi is lost during a call (lollipop feature)*
Micro SD (finally I can put music on my phone again! I had only 2.5GB free out of the 26.7 or whatever after apps and ONE full nandroid)
IR blaster (I have kids that CONSTANTLY lose our remotes)
Extremely good GPS (not that the N5 was bad, but I don't need to use anything than device only now)
Button feedback and placement (I like the buttons on the back)
(So far) frame isn't cracking *N5 was notorious for getting cracks next to the sim card and volume rocker - mine had this and it bugged the heck out of me*
What I miss from the N5-
Qi charging (good thing my charger was only $7 lol)
Smoothness
Custom color (faux kernel with my own custom color settings - used my colormunki and did it myself)
So for me the G4 is a huge upgrade. I'm sure before long all the issues with stuttering, etc will be resolved.
EDIT: Forgot to mention how much louder the speaker is on the G4... miles above the N5.
I have to agree. The camera is phenomenal on this phone. I love how it feels in my hand, and I couldn't be happier to have a micro SD again. I think we'll be able to fix the stuttering when we have root and development.

I agree with everyone's points here. I've had my Nexus 5 from day one and it was hard to give up. Just my battery life was not up to par. Especially with summer coming around, I really didn't want to carry an external charger. The G4 was hard to pass up with removable battery, SD card, display and of course, the camera. Plus, I thought LG did a good job with the N5.
So far the G4 is not as snappy as the N5. So I switched today to Google Now launcher and feels more responsive. The apps still take a tick longer to open. I'll see how it handles the next few days. I have another week to decide if I'll stick out and count on development or go back to N5.
Only thing i miss from my nexus 5 is easy root and it is easier to one hand. But the g4 is one handable, but with a little extra reach for the corners (in 6 1 with large hand).
Last time I used the camera on the G4 the phone got super hot. To the point it uncomfortable to hold next to my face. The glass was hot.
Tmobile said that is not supposed to happen, they are shipping me a replacement... Will report how it compares to the original G4.

My G4 gets hot right around the button area sometimes. It seems to get hotter than my G3. I notice it when it's in my pocket and I'm wondering what it's doing to make it so hot. I wonder if I have a defective one? Or has anyone else been experiencing that? I thought they went with the 808 instead of the 810 because of the heat problems. I'd hate for this to be a metal phone with it being as hot as that.

Yep, that is where it gets hit on the back, and also the glass front on top. That's a defect based on T-Mobile tech support.

Yep, that's exactly where it gets hot. HOw did you contact them to let them know? Did you call or take it in to the store?

I love my G4. ditched the Note edge for this bad boy. my first impressions video is below
Just wanted to see how much people like their G4! I personally love mine and think its the best phone I've ever had so far.
I believe you need to be on computer browser to vote.
BTW, no root and twrp for the G4 H811 is driving me nuts, so this poll will keep me temporarily sane!
For me an 8.

9 for me. Love it.
I put 9 I guess based on the descriptions it's between a 9 and 10 for me, there are some small things that need to be improved like the missing taps on the touchscreen, terrible top pull down menu-everytime i scroll across I find myself accidentally turning off or on something I didn't want to, screen brightness at max level is a little underwhelming ...etc but nothing really deal breaking for me. Overall I'm satisfied with battery life.
I would not return this phone for anything else out there at the moment-that pretty much sums it up

Some of those thing could probaby be fixed with an update or custom rom.
My deal breaker was wireless charging. But now that I installed and modded a Chinese wireless sticker, that put the icing on the cake for me. Look for that thread if u want one.

At an 8. Phone heats up kinda quick in my opinion. And i thought the battery would last alittle longer that it does
10 for me. Coming from a LG G3—>Note 4->Note 4 Edge->Nexus 6 to this phone. Im just waiting for the ordered skinomi glass screen protector and verus verge gold case. I got the gold plastic back version of the phone. Also waiting for Supershieldz glass protector, spigen carbon fiber case, i-blason prime case, and UAG ash case w/glass screen protector.
I'm an Lg loyalist in all my electronics. I loved the G2 and had none of the problems others had on the G3.. Until Tmo effed up lollipop, It was the best for me. I love the G4, but I honestly expected more, especially from the battery. Overall I am still happy with it and like the look, shape and feel better than the 3, but the G3 just ran better for me. I do love having smart lock and the other additions. I hate that they removed smart screen and Tmo again left off the user accounts though. I get better signal than my other phones so that's a plus. Who knows maybe this replacements battery will be better and I'll be happy, I have never been a custom rom kinda guy. I like the Lg stock experience and really just do a few simple mods and tweaks to fine tune it.

I had that gold case. Looked very elegant but was too slipery for my taste. Ended up getting the gold Spigen Neo Hybrid case that has a nice grip to the back.

Ehh not sure maybe 5. Coming from s3,and note 2, 3, 4. Maybe my hopez were a little high. Becore samsung i was huge htc guy. I was hoping to gdt away from sammy because i dont want anything that looks like and iphone. But my battery is terrible and i miss having a physical home button because when im in the camera app. I always seem to end going home. These may just be gripes i have. I really love the leather back and the bomb photos they have. Something is missing from my note4. I cant put my finger on it but i have two more weeks to figure out was it is

I've been around the flagship block that last few years: Note 3, G3, 1+, note 4, Nexus 6 and now G4. I've been rather schizophrenic about it, the missed taps and studdering are my complaints, but I's sure a custom ROM will readily nix these, so I'm staying with the G4 to see what the note 5 will look like.
Rated it at 9....pretty damned spiffy.
given the criteria, I gave it a 10, I've had a tilt 2, LG T501, Amaze 4g, G2, G3 and now the G4 as well as the following work phones droid maxx, some other droid with a keyboard and LG gs4 and HTC one Mini. The LG G4 is better than all that have come before and I do love it.
Compared to the G3, better contrast/colors, camera, volume, battery life, BT audio in my car. If I had one complaint is that I don't care for the metallic boarder, it will eventually chip and look ugly for those that go without a case. while it's no game changer, it's a great evolution of the platform. now if it had the battery life of the G2 then I would give a 10+.
8.5
9.5 so i went with 9. Size is great and reception is phenomenal with lte going fast and bluetooth connection taking little time to connect. Could list positives for days.
Gripes:
#1 Auto brightness - indoors its too light in good artificial light and darkness. Makes viewing angles bad. Hopefully they can update it to be brighter. Outdoors is great.
#2 Concept software unpolished. There should be more smart options (work settings maybe or other setting options). Same goes with dual screen mode.. Limited apps.
#3 G4 bootloader struggle... I plan on having this a while but it sounds like a xda bounty mission.

I give mine an 8. You can fix #1 above by using the free play store app lux lite

2. I'll most likely return it. My touchscreen misses taps (especially during knock code input), has issues charging, and isn't rooted (yet). I have the 810. I came from a note 3 which is a beast of a phone and I can't justify paying for this phone when the note is better in many areas. I'll miss the G4 camera, though.
5
10 - if bootloader unlock is achieved

9 For me as well. I love this phone. The only improvement could be the battery life for on screen time along with the restoration of functions removed by VZW. Aside from that, it's a great phone and personally I'm glad I had chosen it over the S6/S6 Edge.
I currently have the G4, but I really dislike the look/feel, the battery life, the UI, and the touchscreen issues. Anyone else switching from the G4 to the 6P? I already have mine pre-ordered.
I'm finally putting my G2 out to pasture...
I want to switch from the G4, mostly due to the touchscreen issues and partially to the UI, but the AMOLED screen is a major turn off. Both phones I've had with AMOLED suffered from burn in, the Nexus 6 a week into owning it.
Yes.

i am kinda ......... I went from a note 4 to a LGG4 and back to the note 4 ...... I still have my G4 but it collects dust mostly, I did flash a rom on it this past weekend. I just missed the 5.7 inch screen and the lack of dev was killing me.
I'm seriously considering it. Maybe I have a bad G4 but even after disabling the bloat, flashing a different rom, and trying other things, it still lags and my battery life definitely ain't the best if even close to that.
I work from 8-4, my phone will be at 100 when I get to work and almost totally drained by noon, and I don't do anything intensive.
To be completely honest. My wife's S6 feels a lot smoother especially when typing in SwiftKey.
Yes. Although I picked up a couple other phones before the 6p (note 5, moto x). I hated the g4. Still can't understand the circle jerk surrounding that device. So many issues

Yup same here. I even did a KDZ restore and did not root it, still seems to have poor battery life. The touchscreen issues are really aggravating too, with lots of keyboard misses. I have the Verizon G4 so no ROMs yet. I miss the dev support of the G2/G3, lots of mods and ROMs, but nothing for the Verizon G4 yet.
It will be nice to finally have stock Android and fast updates with lots of dev support.
Not a G4, but a G3.
I've got a G4 and I'm enjoying it, but I miss a fingerprint scanner (came from an Ascend Mate 7) and vanilla Android. The only thing I'm giving up with the 6P is expandable storage (since I don't really carry an extra battery around anywhere to make use of removable battery), but that's rectified by the 128GB model of the 6P, which is what I ordered. USB OTG also means storing ROM's will be easy, and an SD card isn't needed.
The G4 is an amazing device, especially when you consider the fact you can grab one at a steep discount these days. But I'm a fan of a clean UI and larger phones, so I gave in and bought the 6P.

No way. G4 is the best device I have ever had!
G4 is the most balanced phone in 2015 , camera is amazing. Lacks of development is my turnoff but i will wait N6P drop price and i want to see real camera sample before dumping my G4 , im pretty happy with it!
coming from iPhone 5, I'm actually deciding between Lg G4 and Nexus 6P to be my first android device... so it's quite obvious that I have no clue about "Root" or "Custom Rom".
the decision is already tough guyz on top of that LG released LG V10, which confuse me even more

I'd go with the V10 over the G4 IMO, unless it's a lot more expensive.
I have the verizon g4 since inception and a week ago after having some major issues beyond the typical, I convinced them to send me a new one. I must say that quality control must really suck because the new one is definitely running better than my old one which was rooted, debloated, and running some xposed modules. I haven't rooted the new one and it seems snappier and the battery seems the same which is fine as I haven't had much to complain about with the battery.
With that being said, I'll probably be ordering the 6P in a month or so. It sounds like it has everything I want, including a premium feel. I don't have that with the g4, even though I have leather backs.
Just going to wait for some more reviews to make sure it's as good as it sounds.
The g4 is a very good phone and will serve as an excellent backup.
I'll have a problemless g4 and a 6p.
I used the G4 while I was on a trip, loved the camera. I liked the customizations LG's skin offered however I couldn't stand the UI and the LG, the touch sucked.
I really liked the size and feel in hand with the brown leather back.
The battery wasn't great either so I'm hoping the 6P has a better camera and battery.

the more I think about V10 less attractive it gets to be honest.... i keep my phone for at least 2 years before replacing it so having a 5.9 inch phone with gimmicky secondary screen doesn't seem practical... recently i also started looking into Sony Z5, waiting for reviews now
@scott4u Get the nexus 6p. Ive had lots of devices. Nexus i hold dear to my heart they are fast and the development is endless. I had touch to wake 3 years ago on my nexus 4. And I'm typing this on a g4. You should make your first time special.

well Nexus 6P is definitely in my radar but at same time Sony Z5 also look cool... specially coz i read that sony added a extra heat distribution pipe to control heat issue of 810 chip without under-clocking it.
so lets wait for reviews beside New Zealand (that's where I'm) always get devices late
