My note3 is awesome but the gps is a POS can anyone coming from the note3 to note4 for tell me if the gps function has been improved? Or is it just as unreliable(not locking on satellites) if its any better its worth the upgrade to me.....
I agree that it's worser than the one on my old note 1
If you can send me your gps.conf file I can fix it for you. Have to be rooted and it's in system/etc/gps.conf. Fix would work on any note 3.

I stopped rooting my phones because its just to much to maintain and keep up with these days. Initially my main reason for rooting was tethering but since i switched to tmobile and they give me 3 gigs for free. i found no reason to have to do it anymore.. i was always cool with the touch wiz roms anyway.. thank u for the offer though... can anyone else chime in on the difference if any in gps reliability between note 3 and note 4?
GPS receiver is quite deaf, horrible reception.
I just started noticing this weekend that my phone would find a lock no problem at first but can't maintain that lock. The GPS icon would disappear and then restart again after a few seconds to try and find a lock. Would happen every few minutes or so.
Yeah, I'm having an issue too.
It doesn't follow me, but it can pinpoint my location. It also jumps around to different locations around me when I'm driving.
Get this software and set it to auto update A-gps data. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2
I've been doing this since Note 2 and never had to wait more than 3-5 seconds to get full lock. It will entirely solve all your problems, and you don't have to root.

I can confirm 100% issues with GPS on my AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4. I bought it Sunday (12/28/2014) and noticed instant GPS inaccuracies, teleporting, not updating correct route information, etc. I got home, OTA'd, tried again the next day, same issues. Took it into AT&T yesterday (12/30/2014), guy instantly swapped, I stood right there and showed him exactly what was happening on the brand new, fresh out the box phone. "Hmmm, I'd give it a couple of days to.....uhhh.....calibrate, then bring it back if it doesn't work." Screw that, wtf is going on? Why do a select few of us have the problem and why does it continue to happen to the same people?
In another forum, a guy took his back not 1, not 2 but 3 TIMES, same gps issues everytime......... Add me to the list of people who've had multiple phones and the same gps issues. SIM related????? Maybe? I can't have another phone, I absolutely love this thing.
**EDIT** Had a Note 2 for close to 3 years, not one GPS problem.
switch mode to gps only. in high accuracy mode it downloads google wifi data and tries to avoid using the gps chip so you bounce around depending on how accurate googles wifi mapping is based on APs googles streetview van saw.
GPS only mode with daily AGPS data will be the best.
I've done everything under the sun. Nothing helps.
I will try zurkx's info tonight and try to remember to turn it on for the foreseeable future and see what happens. The issue is sporadic for me and I don't have it on while I'm driving all the time.

I fear it's a bit different: Just a few people get aware of the problem, many others simply don't notice or don't want to notice it.
Just have a look at my thread - pretty detailled: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/gps-close-to-unusable-t2948602
Try rebooting in airplane, it seems to have alleviated the issues. Now I have a horrible download speed problem....
Hi everybody
I wan to ask, if anyone has a similar problem or a solution.
Me and my girlfriend bought a moto x play for its dual sim ability.
We experience random signal loss several times per day. Its just falls off for few seconds, sometimes longer without any reason. Then i have to turn airplane mode on/off, to manage it. Its pretty annoying. I had the same problem with last years moto g2. The sim card, that is dropping signal is the one i use mainly and preffered for data.
Just to mention, that i was using my simcards about a half year in my honor 6 plus dual sim and i never experienced this. Sot the troubke must be in the phone.
Is there somebody who has a fix for this?
Thx
Peter
hi i have the same problem. i am here in germany with base (hope u know what i mean) in my second simslot i get a o2 card. now its strange. always that slot with base sim have that problem. i tried it with a lot other base sims from friends etc. always same result. without reason (i have luck) 1 - 3 times no signal for few seconds. on other fon with base that i take with me to check if it also have no signal but there always ok (testet it also with my card in other phones the card is 100% ok). hope u have a fix. and by the way sorry for this ugly and bad english. i can read good but write is not mine. thx everybody
I'm from India, I to have same problem. Sim1 losses connectivity randomly.

possible solution
Thanks for your answers.
I did contact motorola with the problem.
They adviced me to run the phone in safe mode (only preinstalled apps, nothing from my downloaded apps are in this mode) and step by step (can take a days) to add my apps and see, whic one does it.
The safe mode did ok ( no signall loss) but then i just booted in normal and uninstalled my apps. (since i dont use so much of them) whats important to know, that my wife has the same phone (same issue) so i can compare it better.
So i realized, that it could be the app CAM SCANNER (app, which makes pdf from photos, APP FROM innstig COMPANY) I stopped using this app. I tought, that the problem is gone, but now still, the random signall loss happens much less, bu it still happens. If I have more time to play with it, i will try to delete some other apps.
For the moment its not so bad like before. i have, lets say 3-4 random signal losses per day. for me its strange, that an app can cause this. and i hope i dont have to uninstall apps like dropbox, or something i cannot live without. I blame motorola for thi, because this was a problem allready with lastyears moto G. ( my previous phone was honor 6 plus dual sim, these things never happen, and i used the same apps. Of course i changed the phone, because the OS was horrible on it (emui...))
So im still trying, if somebody has a possible solution, please post it. Im also thinking, as the last option, to flash cyanogenmod. Its allready an unofficial version, i hope it becomes official soon.

As squid told that he has moved on to cm13 and he will push to make cm13 as official, cm12 is already there. Also soak test has begun. Its just matter of some few weeks before the official update from Motorola lands on x play.
Marshmallow update
Hi everybody.
I allready recieved the marshmallow update for the moto x play dual sim. Nothing changed. Same results by my wifes phone. The signal is falling out randomly through the whole day. This is really bad.
I had this allready with last years moto g 2014 dual sim.
Im giving up. I don tgink i will get another motorola this year.
Did you try changing preferred network data to 2G or 3G? (Wireless & Networks > More > Mobile networks > Preferred network type)
If it's on 4G, it's most likely that signal is too weak for 4G in some places. Network type (2G,3G,4G) affects the signal and battery drain if signal is too weak even if you're not using mobile data.
If that doesn't help, then I have no idea.
Hi All,
I had this problem. The phone would show "No Signal" even when others on the same network were getting a signal in the same place. Plus the SIM would work on another phone. The mobile would be off the signal for hours and then connect for a few hours. I tried everything that is recommended including a factory reset. No resolution.
But I did notice that if I charged the device the signal would come back for a while.
So, being a complete novice at this, I did what I thought best. Went into battery saving and switched everything off battery saving. ( Switched everything off because I do not know better )
Since then the mobile has been connected to the network 24X7. I use mostly 3G as my preferred connection choice. The phone does switch between 2G and 3G depending on signal strength I guess.
Hope this may help someone. It is not an educated fix, but seems to have worked with me.
Incidentally, Motorola had suggested that I take in the phone for servicing when I contacted them. As that is a long journey, I tried this fix as a last resort - and it worked for me.
Cheers!

Hi People, im from Argentina, about random signal loss,i ve got the same issue. but i fix it changing the APN.
i bought my X Play from Paraguay so default APN was unable to work fine in my country. Try to search a different APN from your phone service company. It's work for my.
tell me if its work 4 u
I am brazillian. And have same problem. I try change imei from xposed framework module and nothing... losing signal contantly... and after same month lost all signal...
nothing signal in booth sim cards...
i am test in lineage 14 and stock 7.1.1 motorola Nougat... nothing signal...
Hi guys,
Now my zuk is unable to connect to any mobile network.
The problem isn't new, two days ago that was happened becouse I change the bands from the test mode.
But the strange things is that i solved it restoring the system partition by a nandroid backup, but now the same backup didn't solve the problem.
I'm sure that the problem is about the bands becouse I can see only a operator that use a different band and also from the test mode I can choose some network but not all.
Another strange thing is that the second time the problem occurred after a simple reboot...
Thanks for the help
I have the same problem and there is an older thread covering this where 2 other people also have the issue.
The only fix I found is to power off the phone. When restarting the issue is cleared.
As an aside I notice that to diagnose that the problem has occurred you can try to change the "preferred network type" and see that there is no pause while the phone works to switch from 3G to 4G or whatever. Normally there should be a pause of a few seconds whilst the phone switches over. When trying this and noticing that the phone appears to do nothing at this point (by which I mean there is no pause and nothing much happens) then I know something has fallen over and that I have to power off the phone.
This is obviously a software problem and, like most bits of technology in our lives, you just have to switch the thing off and on again to fix it.
Lets hope the promised upgrade to Marshmallow next month fixes it.
All got that problem on COS 12.1 use custom firmware.

Please do not generalize like all on COS 12.1 have this problem...my phone is complete stock on COS 12.1 and I have NO network problems since day 1 (more than a year my daily driver). I have been travelling the world using my phones dual Sim function to the fullest and never ran into problems. Maybe I have the only good working ZUK1 on the whole planet but then again I don't **** around with the frequency bands nor did I try to unlock and or root my phone...

Hey buddy, Could you please lemme know the version of COS 12.1 that you are using.? I am running on the stock version updated to 12.1-YOG4PAS7DF. Being frank, I am not totally satisfied with the network coverage of my phone. My earlier phones used to work flawlessly at my apartment and since I switched to ZUK, I am facing network coverage issues and data connectivity issues with the Same operator. Are you mostly connected to LTE network.?

12.1-YOG4PAS9IG. While home I am on WIFI and while away from home I am on LTE or whatever the reception allows depending upon my location. I do live in a remote part from France so I do face network coverage problems but at the same time it does not surprise me.
It could be well that the ZUK1's reception is less than other models or brands or even other ZUK1's something I have not confirmed. All I can say is that I am happy with the phone performance.
Happened 9 days ago, after a day it resolved itself after restarting (nothing happened by restarting, changing roms, restoring factory backup & so before).
Again happened & didn't resolve for a week+. was going to get a new cell today but last night it resolved itself when I rebooted to recovery to install a rom, but changed my mind for then as I needed flash light, rebooted system & signals were there.
It happens & goes away.
UPDATE: The ROM has been updated to version 2 where lot of bugs have been fixed!
First things first:
The ROM is strictly for those who are using an unlocked N910P on a GSM SIM globally!
This ROM has been ported by @anggara08 for the Snapdragon Powered Galaxy Note 4. He is the creator of this ROM and I'm only sharing the thread link here so that N910P users (which is generally not supported by the OP of original thread) can take a look at what this ROM has to offer.
I'm in no way associated with the ROM development & all the credit for the work goes to @anggara08.
Now, let me come to the main motive of why I am creating this (or sharing this thread) here on N910P thread...
The ROM is being developed keeping in mind the F & G variants of Note 4. However, I did download the ROM on my N910P and it booted successfully. The ROM has few bugs right now like Bluetooth, Flashlight, Hot-Spot cannot be controlled by the toggles, but certain workarounds have been posted by the some users which make this ROM a must try.
So, coming directly to the procedure for flashinf it on N910P:
1. Head over the following thread & read it properly with proper concentration to save your's as well as others time to solve problems that can or could have been avoided.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/snapdragon-dev/rom-t3440223
(All credit goes to @anggara08)
2. Download all the fixes posted by OP like camera-fix, & lock-screen fix.
3. Do note that the boot-loader & the modem required is PE2 or PG1 (I have tested it on these personally). Any other version does not work like OG5, OK1, PE1,etc.
4. Take a full back-up of your current ROM.
5. Make proper wipes (system, dalvik, data, cacke, internal memory, etc).
6. Flash the downloaded X-ROM. Once the flashing is finished, the ROM will automatically boot without any prompt from the TWRP Recovery.
7. It will take a long time to boot. My suggestion is to keep the phone plugged to a charger while the process is going on so as to prevent battery drain.
There's absolutely no need of flashing any Kernel or Super-SU or anything.
Let the ROM boot first.
8. Once it boots, you'll notice that there will not be any network. For it, you have to download following data fix:
(The zip file is as an attachment at the end of this post, Credit goes to @boot_sect for posting it)
9. Boot into TWRP & flash the Data-Fix. Reboot to the ROM and the network will be there. (Note: I am a GSM SIM user so the fix worked for me. Sprint users, try this out at your own will & risk.)
10. Once the ROM is up & running, flash the respective fixes (as mentioned by me earlier & available on original thread by OP) and you'll have an amazing ROM to play with. :good:
Few suggestions & fixes by @boot_sect:
Additional Notes:
Bluetooth not turning off: Seems to be ROM issue, or at least for us T/W8s. Even without data fix it does not want to turn off...
> Temp fix: Quick and dirty way to disable bluetooth is by going into your favourite app manager (eg. Titanium Backup) and disabling "Bluetooth Share", then re-enabling when bluetooth turns off. This will keep BT turned off until you manually enable it next time (or at least, for a very long time.)
Flashlight not turning off. Most likely ROM issue as many users are experiencing this.
> Temp fix: Use "Quick Tools" in the Edge Panel to turn it off. Thanks to @justforgot to finding this workaround.
I'm not posting any screen-shots of the ROM as a dedicated video of it on N910F can be found on the original thread.
Last but not the least, If moderators find this thread useless, they are free to close it.
@Robin...Thanks for hooking us up to this and taking time for the right up.

how long we have to wait for the first boot?..and thanks
Was able to boot it up and play with it but no go on the data for sprint. I tried manually setting apn and nothing also the screen goes dim after a while. Nevertheless it is awesome seeing this thing running and cannot wait for the geniuses to stabilize it. One awesome thing I noticed it is how little bloat it had almost no apps aside from the essentials.

It should not take more than 15-20 mins... If it does, pull out the battery (though not recommended in first place) and try again.

Also, did you flash the data-fix for the network or it was available without flashing it?

For these international GSM ports to work on cdma, especially our sprint variant, a LOT of work must be done in framework, csc and build.prop. no exceptions. I wish there was an easier solution but that's the only way because by default these GSM roms are setup for GSM networks. I'm working on my own S7/N5 port and this is the last thing i have to do... cell service isn't working. i am trying different ideas as time permits. I have been porting TW roms and doing this stuff for a while and i can say that there is a TON of work that has to be done to even get these new softwares to boot, let alone work fully on a different device all together. mostly hardware, driver and kernel related things which takes a huge amount of time. So you must thank these developers for theit time and patience with this stuff. It's the most difficult challenge when it comes to building out roms. It makes native custom rom building seem like a walk in the park. Trust me. LOL. We'll get it it sooner or later. give it time.

@tx_dbs_tx: You are absolutely right that each and every developer works extremely hard in order to make a ROM boot. We should be really grateful to all the developers like you who make it possible for the users like me to experience difference ROMs on our phones.
It would be really shameful on our part if we can't even thanks a developer for all the hard work that he puts in..
Also, I'm using a GSM SIM (had even contacted you some time ago regarding it, if you remember.. ) on N910P so the above mentioned ROM worked for me without any network issues. I've edited the thread to mention that It's only for those who use GSM SIM on N910P.

3G working, vietnam haven't 4G yet
Hello,
this question might seem somewhat stupid. I've run into serious bugs on my 3 year old Note 4, they come and go, sometimes they appear many times a week and sometimes not for several months in a row. I have insurance, which ends mid-July. I wanted to send it in over a week ago, but after I've read the terms, I thought that it would be hard to get something from them, since the bug doesn't appear every day. Since I moved the SIM card to another phone over a week ago, the Note worked perfectly. Before it would from time to time refuse to call, tell me that some system app had crashed and reboot. After reboot I'm unable to call again (no signal) and have to turn it off and on again, for it to work. Couple of times it froze completely (had to remove the battery) and some months ago I had WiFi problems (connected, but no data transmission) a couple of times.
I think that it's a hardware problem, but I doubt they would wait for weeks for a bug to appear and I want to rule out software problems first. I want to try "the best possible" ROM (I know, it's in the eye of the beholder). I took a look on the threads about LineageOS 15.1/14.1, 14.1 is called stable, but there are pretty much the same bugs mentioned. I need:
- Perfectly working cameras, phone calls (is it important that I have two numbers (normal and "landline") on the same card?), mobile Internet, WiFi, SD-card support, preferably docking station support (the 5in1-one, OTG, HDMI, SD and whatnot. I would like the S-Pen to work, if not to its full potential, then at least "somewhat". PlayStore/GApps (?) are important. I don't need Fingerprint sensor, NFC, Bluetooth. Though it would be nice if all the builtin sensors would work, since I might get to install FL Studio Mobile/IL Remote on it eventually or play some games (very unlikely).
- Ability to record calls automatically would be nice (I know, GDPR, but whatever)
- The most important thing is that it's as stable, as possible
It would be awesome if I could test the new FirmWare in DualBoot. I have a 32GB microSD card.
I'm not an idiot, but lately I'm seriously lacking free time and concentration skills (I don't feel my best mentally). I don't feel able to go through all the Firmware topics (LineageOS 14+15 alone are 1000 pages long), I would ask very kindly if someone could suggest a suiting Firmware and give me a link to a hopefully straightforward flashing how-to with all the latest download links. I would forever be in your debt. Especially if you could also give me a link on "how to get into that" (migration/getting started). I want to be done on Tuesday, if possible, so I'd have 2+ weeks to test everything as thoroughly, as possible.
I don't know anything about customizing one's phones, except for what's possible out-of-the box and with 3rd-party-apps. But I'm a fast learner. I understand English, German and Russian.

Hi
[Joke] The perfect ROM is the one YOU build  [/Joke]
As you speak English, German and Russian (too bad I'm French  ) I'll assume you live in Europe and you own a N910F.
To get all sensors working (heart rate included) you need stock: one just got out on Sam Mobile with updated BL and modem (DRD1) and April 2018 security update.
You also may consider Alexander's last built.
LOS 15.1 is pretty good as daily driver but I don't think it meets your needs (especially about sensors...), I've been using it for few months.
Can't help about any other custom ROM but in any cases you won't have all sensors on any of them.
You can use SPen Command for the stylus.
I hope this help...

Edit: you own a 910F! The title told me :silly:
IMHO you'd better keep on full stock (or close to) here is a link for Alexander's https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...se-multi-csc-safe-bloat-t3033881/post58925494
Dual boot is a hard work on N910F (never been able to get it work flawlessly :crying: )

With "all sensors" I meant accelerometer, gyroscope and whatever else is used in games and music software. I don't need heart rate/o2/UV sensors, etc.
I see that there was a German update in February, which I didn't receive (maybe it's for Vodafone-BRANDED devices? I have DQ(I/J/A)1 installed, latest update came on January 1st, I believe) and the latest one is indeed the DRD1 for UK. Does EE stand for the British mobile network operator? Will the firmware work the same in Germany or what would differ? WIll OTA continue to work?
I'm already downloading, the best (first) thing to try would be the original firmware, of course. I just thought, Samsung gave up on that model.
One question:
Add each file to it's respective field in Odin v3.13.1. Use CSC_OXM if you want to do a clean flash and HOME_CSC OXM if you want to keep your apps and data.

Is "keeping apps and data" possible/"advisable" in my case? I want to keep everything, but if another firmware "branch" could install with new bugs, maybe it should be installed cleanly.

As for Alexander's stuff link - I took a quick look and it's all Chinese to me  If I'll keep having problems with UK firmware, maybe, I'll take another look on that or LOS 15.1/14.1.
Did you have any problems with LOS? Camera problems are mentioned in bugs (maybe would work fine with a different app?), GPS problems (didn't understand that exactly, "doesn't fix satellites"???). I'd like to have up-to-date Android without Samsung's bloatware, but mostly I'd like a STABLE system.
P.S. Oh, yeah, one more question - what do you mean with "updated BL"?
P.P.S. Will flashing the UK firmware "void my warranty" (I don't have warranty anymore, but will the insurance company see, that I flashed a different firmware? KNOX counter or whatnot. (I called my "meta-insurer" (a proxy company) today and asked if I'm allowed to flash a custom ROM, he said, he's not 100% sure, but thinks, I'm not. I would have to ask the actual insurance company tomorrow or re-read the policy, which I might do later.))?
Hi
My feelings are you're not used to mess with your phone , so you better (for now) stick with official firmware. (No Knox trouble or whatever its Samsung's firmware)
IMHO the best for you is to install the last full stock ( did you already download it?) and follow this tutorial step by step https://samsung-firmware.org/download/GALAXY__Note4__/o2ll/EVR/N910FXXU1DRD1/N910FEVR1DRD1/
You should keep your data and still be able to use your phone in Germany.
If you still have issues you should backup every things you can't afford to loose. Because the repair techs will obviously delete all your data (even if they don't fix anything )
In any cases, with you want to go for a custom ROM, I'll give you an help for it.
