I have an old car so it doesn't have a steering wheel control buttons. I bought myself a bluetooth wireless remote control to try to control my music/voice search this way but the bluetooth doesn't connect to the head unit. Is there any work around to get this going? Perhaps w/ a bluetooth adapter connected to the usb? I'd like to connect to my bluetooth accessories somehow.
Thanks!
I am in the same boat as you. Bought a bluetooth steering wheel control, but HU does not recognize. As far as I know, the solution if you want steering wheel control is to install a remote control that I have seen recently on EBay and Aliexpress recently. Search "Car Steering Wheel Control Key Button For Android DVD/GPS Player Bluetooth Phone" on Ebay to see what I am talking about. You have to connect a control unit to the back of the HU. I have not tried this yet. Instructions seem a little unclear and I have not yet taken the plunge.

Hi
I'm planing to mount an Nexus 7 in my car, since I only use my phone for music anyway.
But I don't have remote controls on my steering wheel stock in my 01 wrx.
So I need an bluetooth remote that will allow Me to adjust volume an change song, that can be mounted on the steering wheel.

Does anyone have an recommendations on an double din android based head unit that has a fully working bluetooth module? Something that can pair with and control an Alpine PXE-0850S amplifier. Does such a head unit exist?
Thanks
I would also like to know if such a product exist.
With new headunits including plenty of memory, storage, fast a75 cores and 4g -but high noise floor and only 2 slow usb ports+crippled BT is such as letdown :-(
I noticed the Atoto units have two bluetooth modules and support bluetooth tethering. Any chance those will pair with generic devices?
Well, I answered my own question by buying an Atoto S8 and trying it out. The second bluetooth module seems to be a normal fully working module and does pair with the Alpine amp and allows the amp settings to be configured using the Alpine app. However, since the amp also supports bluetooth streaming, whenever the head unit connects to the amp over bluetooth it routes audio output from music apps (but not the radio) via the bluetooth connection (instead of spdif), bypassing the head unit volume controls. So whenever I want to change the amp configuration I have to pair it with the head unit, run the Alpine app, make the changes, and then unpair the amp. Grrrr.....
Hi all!
I've recently got a Seicane HU, specifically this one, with a quad core ARM Cortex-A35. I've used the steering wheel control app to learn all the buttons necessary. They all work work great with stock the radio and the BT music player. The only issue is that the next and previous track buttons on my steering wheel do not work when using Spotify while wirelessly connected to Multiplay (Android Auto). I tried searching for a solution but only found that Spotify had an issues awhile back but it was fixed in an update.
Any possible leads?
Cheers,

All of a sudden my Android headunit started behaving weirdly.
I can skip to the next and the previous songs from the face buttons and the steering wheel controls if I have the app that is playing the music open in the foreground.
I can't skip the music if I have the app in the background. If I try it with the face buttons nothing happens, if I try it with the steering wheel controls the whole CANbus functionality breaks (no door info, no volume up or down etc.). After a few mins the music cuts off, comes back and the CANbus functionality comes back.
I have connected a keyboard to the headunit today to see if it could skip songs and it can, without any problems.
Shortly, I can skip songs if the app is open but I can't if the app is closed (and also the CANbus config breaks when I try to).
What could be the reason and how can I fix it?
Are you using CarPlay? If so we kinda have the same problem. I’ve stated out a workaround in my latest post.
