Android version doesn't matter, which stock/custom has the best battery backup ?

Are You Sure ?
RR 6.8
Shell rom v5
The stock KitKat 2.22.40.54 and the RR 6.8 are the best for me. In KitKat i make 6 hours of screen-on-time, in RR i got 4-4:30 hours.
Hi dude, i've installed Leopard when you'd say, battery backup is actually good but it consumes a lot in stand-by , Is there any solution ?
Can anyone please give me the download link for shell rom v5.
How are you getting 6 hrs SOT? I get 4 hrs SOT on kitkat .540 with greenify, rooted, xposed installed. Governor = on demand...
This was 1 year ago, when 2.22.40.54 released with Lollipop.
Actually it's hard to got even 3:30h
I think it's time to replace my battery...
Hello,

Hahaha, typical. I just yesterday installed Lineage 14 after running xiaomi.eu Marshmallow roms for my MI Max and today they release they new one...
Would be awsome to hear about how these roms compare?
I do like the integration with your MI account on MIUI roms, otherwise...meh, don't feel like I'm missing out on much.
Sure the interface is a bit nice...
But for me batterylife and smoothness are they main features that I'm looking for.
Id love to hear about your experiences with xiaomi.eu roms compared to the lates ASOP Nougat flavors.

I have not tried the lineage rom. Can i just download the rom and gapps and flash through twrp? The instructions seemed critical so did not try it out. Something like do this if your miui version number changes ?
Today i have downloaded and currently using the latest xiaomi.eu rom. It looks stable but lags a little here and there.

Well, I'm running Mi Max Hydrogen 32 GB / 3gb ram version and did the following to flash the unoffical lineageos 14.1
1. Downloaded the hydrogen rom: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B60OA264UF_PMjVQN3A5a2g2MDg - lineage-14.1-20170201-UNOFFICIAL-hydrogen.zip
2. Downloaded the following firmware: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B60OA264UF_PRmZpSGZpa2ZxOHc - firmware-HYDROGEN_MDG-7.1.5.zip
3. Downloaded pico opengapps for arm64 soc - http://opengapps.org/
4. Did a full wipe (except user data) i.e. not factory reset but selected in TWRP 3.0.2.0 the partitions I wanted to format.
5. Flashed the Hydrogen Rom in point 1.
6. Flashed Firmware in point 2.
7. Flashed Pico Gapps in point 3
8. Wiped Cache & Rebooted.
Its still working fine, ofcourse I made sure to backup my sms and other stuff I wanted to keep from before....MIUI backups and cloud services aren't really compatible with Lineage
Can't really say anything about the batterylife, it's decent but the phone hasn't received a decent nights charge since yesterday.
A few things that I did was to ad adway and modify youtube so that I get an adfree experience without exposed.
Also I've moved Gsam to privilaged systemapps in order to have good battery tracking.
I also use Greenify as I did with Miui 8 and have Greenyfied Facebook, Instagram and such apps that tend to hang around. Also I've Frozen the Stock Music player since it was waking the phone a lot from deepsleep. Did it with Titanium backup.

Noted. Thanks will flash tonight.
Is it smooth? Any lags? The new xiaomi.eu nougat rom is the same as marshmallow. Nothing new..
What about the lineage rom.. Does it feel like you are using nougat?
can i dirty flash 7.2.9 over the leaked MIUI 8 Android 7.0 version?
will it still lock my bootloader?

Actually miui nougat from xiaomi.eu doesn't lock bootloader on Mi Max. It locks bootloader only on mi4c, mi4s and mi note pro.

Now I've actually tried both RR 5.8.0 and Lineage unofficial 14.1 and in my opinion RR is definitely much smoother.
Flashed it about an hour ago so battery and sot is unknown.
But as for Linage the battery life is on par with what I got on miui, maybe slightly shorter but didn't test it enough to get conclusive results.
Lineage is smooth as well, smoother then miui but nothing that I was super amazed by. I didn't have the small hangups when you switch apps and such so it was good, totally satisfactory.
RR on the other hand is a clear difference in smoothness. Gonna test it a bit more, if battery holds up then I'm sticking with this rom.

Tested the battery this night and rr is dozing quite well.
0.3 - 0.4% discharge per hour and it's really smooth as well

How was battery draining on the custom rom?
On Nougat it seems to be a common problem, but yous looks excessive. Did you restore all apps of your Google account?

You have more that 4 hours SOT. (Is the data always ON, how much do you talk on average).
If i use it continuesly it give me 3.5 hours of SOT
hi guys, i had this battery drain that made me go around with a 20k mah powerbank everyday for a while and i bought a new battery thinking it was a hardware issue but at least in the past day(i tried it only for a day) the new battery isn't any better, i also use greenify and naptime but still comes from 100 to 40 in 1 hour or less, is there a fix to that?
I'm currently running rr official nougat 5.8.3 with franco 3.10 kernel i don't know anymore what to do
i tried battery configurator but didn't help.
i also changed the type c connector but i don't think it has anything to do, i swapped it when i changed the battery.
I'm not sure how much my answer is going to help but please try to upgrade the OP2 firmware to the latest one and then clean install the custom OS on it. It happened to me too but not to an extent of yours and it got fixed by clean flashing the custom ROM. P.S I was already on the latest OP2 firmware.
I really appreciate every help now
cause now I'm really facing serious problems with battery life
Everyone are getting 6 hours of sot but I barely get to 2.5h!
I'll provide as much information as I can
My phone is A2017G
On Oreo stock a2017g b02 ROM
I just haven't got any more than 3hrs of sot.
Before that, I was on a2017u B20 ROM with custom kernel for 17.x magisk and the RF Signal was using more battery than screen!! Like 2x times more than screen(I've tried the Chinese version of Oreo too!
Build 16 and 17! Didn't enjoy much from battery life!)
Now on A2017G version RF Signal usage is completely fine(3_4%) but now there's this new battery destroyer.
In my battery usage screen,
In apps section:"Others"!!! And it uses over 50% of used battery! That's it! I have absolutely no clue what is that or what should i do
I just don't know what to do...
The battery health is good , like ,2500/2700 mah
Using accubattery.
And I checked the frequency of the CPU and
All cores are on , and it jumps between 16% and 40% at idle (usually)
I checked for modem too. It's just the stock Oreo modem from stock ROM couldn't get anywhere with that.
I tried not installing any sorts of custom recovery or magisk after flashing full edl ROM but no change at all.(and yes I wipe everything before ROM installation,I mean I just don't wipe SD card and that usb something option, wipe everything else)
I just want Dolby Atmos and the sound chip.
I'm thinking about an AOSP custom ROM (Havoc OS maybe?)
But the problem is that , I have never seen more than 3hrs of sot in my phone's entire life!
I really think that the problem will carry on with every ROM.
You're help really means a lot to me...

TBH that SOT is pretty normal for G model, the 6 hours SOT that you speak of does not exist at all in the stock ROM, but on Custom ROMs (heard mostly from people using RR that they have 6hrs SOT)

Hate to break it up to you, but the battery being ~2500 mAh is totally crappy... 2300 mAh was the point of no return to me, shutdowns start there.
I wonder why you're using ancient nfound stuff but okay. Set up a decent GSI like AEX 6 (you can get the build from the official webpage, just get aex 6.0 a-only gsi and also flash gapps for 9.0 before booting), install it with Kranoner's vendor (google his androidfilehost profile) and flash hellsgate eas then magisk 18. Also flash the NFC fix, it's necessary even if you don't use nfc. That's probably the best setup for battery. After all that, also buy a battery and swap it later.

Really?! I mean i thought that 2500 mah is showing good health considering the max capacity is 3100. But you're the professional here, so i bow to you
About Gsi and Aex 6... My biggest question is that, are pie roms stable? Cause that's why i didn't go for pie roms .i felt like it's still unfinished as a complete stable package. Please let me know what you think about this.
I said it before but you're helping really means a lot to me and i really appreciate it. Thanks

check this out (our charge voltage is 4.4v)
https://batteryuniversity.com/_img/content/lithium2.jpg
there you can see that capacity goes off a cliff after about 80% pretty much regardless of the charge voltage.
Pie GSIs are stable enough now, definitely better than the whole Oreo deal when it first started.

This next question i wish i didn't have to ask but i wanted to install aex 5.8 before this RR 6.0.0 that now I'm using but first it gave the vendor error.
I solved it with a patch that was supposed to creat vendor partition. Then it gave error 7 which i couldn't solve and went for the EzPz one(which was NFound's
Post)
How do i solve it or am i going to encounter this problem anyway?

It's as simple as reading the guides... You have to install the BOOTSTACK

The B12 Bootstack should do it. Works with nearly all GSI I've tried.
