So here is what I'm trying to do... I want to disable the usb pc connection, because I have noticed that my phone charges very slow when connected to the computer, compared to when I have it charging to the wall outlet...
is there anyway to disable this feature so that I can just have my phone charging through the computer without enabling the pc connection?
I know on older previous versions of Android, when plugged to a computer you would get prompt with some options to choose (mass storage, kies, charge only, etc)
Is there anything similar available for the i337?

The data connection to the PC isn't causing slow charging.
Your PC's USB port most likely only puts out 0.5A, while the wall charger puts out 2A. (my numbers may not be exact, but the theory is the same).
Exactly as stated above. USB 2.0 only allows 500ma of charging power vs 2.0amps (2000ma) for the charger that is supplied with the S4.
I wish phone makers would start getting with USB 3.0 Standard. If they had a 3.0 connector on the USB cables supplied, USB 3.0 can supply up to 1.5amps, and potentially up to 5amp.
As an aside: the SGS4 only allows for MTP and PTP connections...
There is a way to allow Mass Storage mode, but I wouldn't recommend it, so I won't provide any more details on that.
I'm on CM 10.2, so it could be a bug with that.
At work I have a usb 3.0 hub, which will charge devices at 1A, twice USB 2.0. But if you hook the tablet up to the hub the tablet will display that it's charging, but for some reason it really isn't. It displayed charging for an hour and lost 5% while screen off.
Go and enable USB Debugging and all the sudden the hub will light up and charge at 1A.
kinda dumb, but it works.
How can I disable USB charging on a rooted S4, or rather default to wireless when both are connected. Yes, I have read the posts about cutting the 5v wire, but want a less permanent solution that still lets the usb port function normally.
I have the Pioneer AppRadio 3 and use my phone for maps/GPS and pandora in the car. When the MHL HDMI cable is connected, it only charges at ~500mA (due to need to transfer data) which is not enough to compensate for the display, bluetooth and cpu usage, therefore my phone discharges when connected while driving.
I installed a wireless charging pad and receiver rated at 1000mA, hooked it all up to a hardwired 5V 2A power supply, and when it is in place, the phone charges as expected until I plug in the MHL HDMI cable. It then disables wireless charging and uses the ~500mA from the cable instead.
The MHL HDMI and bluetooth connection are required for the radio system to function.
Since it chooses USB over wireless when they are both connected, there should be a setting buried deep somewhere to affect which it chooses.
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers,
Brad
if i have my edge recharging on a wireless charger (connected with samsungs own power supply and usb cable) then i'm guessing it's not a good idea to also plug the phone into the PC so i can copy some stuff on there?
Does anyone able to use USB Hub while charging the phone? I have a Type C USB Hub with charging port. The connected USB devices became disconnected once I plug in the charger at the hub. They became connected again once I removed the charger from the hub. Is this an issue with the hub itself or does it have to with software on the phone? My Pocofone F1 are able to use the USB devices while still being charge so I don't think the hub is the problem. Can anyone confirm?
