Cool. After that happens, anything that works on the XT1250 and XT1225 will work in the XT1254.
after a year we will be all the same community. Good Job.

I remember how Droid Turbo users treated the Moto Maxx users.......
INB4: XT1250, XT1254 and XT1225 users holding hands and singing "We are the world".
I need to look again on the XT1250 / XT1254 support so it's not stuck at bootlogo
@Skrilax_CZ What is the status of cm12.1 and cm13? I believe I heard with a few minor tweaks cm12 was a daily driver.
Sent from my XT1254 using XDA Free mobile app
It is a daily driver for XT1225 (CM-12.1, CM-12.0 was deprecated early, and CM-13.0 isn't ready yet), it's just I didn't give much attention to XT1250/XT1254 so some tweaks are needed to set it right for CDMA.
Awesome, Looking forward to some official cm12.1 support. Great to see an active Dev on our chipset.

Someone pm a mod. Atrix_Owner is hacking into accounts now.
Also, it looks like it's only unlocking just a few phones. For now.

Title should be "Motorola Launches Official Bootloader Unlocking Tool for Photon." Hopefully, they'll add more phones but I'll reserve praise until then.
Now you guys see that Motorola is not that bad?
Promising, but a pretty weak start.

i think that more devices will be added as they get updated to ics because maybe right now the locked down gb bootloaders dont work with this tool so they are putting supported bootloaders in the ics roms.
Promising news for non AT&T folks! Finally be able to use an unlocked bootloader without the ramfix step. That is if the Atrix gets ICS with this magic bootloader.
Cheers!
Well hells yeah. Wish I knew more about boot loaders. I'm sure there is probably a way to reverse engineer unofficial ports. I'm greatful and awaiting Droid x unlock. I miss customized kernals
Such a relieving news giving a new ray of hope! Hope older devices like the Defy/Defy+ gets updated soon!
1. The site says its at your carriers discretion. so if you're on VZW, forget it.
1a. Already read somewhere else that if VZW discovers your phone has been unlocked, it will be removed from their network.
2. A lot of phones are getting Kexec builds, which is better than unlocking the bootloader anyways.
They can go blow themselves for not including the original Razr, that was my first and last Motorola Device and it will get replaced at the end of the month.

What the? Verizon first? Come on tmobile..
I just switched to sprint for free and sold my us cellular moto x to pay the early termination, im now the proud owner of a moto x on sprint with unlimited data, I was paying so many overages with data as I use it to tether my surface pro. When sprint gets the update can I just unlock bootloader and flash su.zip since the sprint version is available for bootloader unlock?

There is no direct causative evidence pointing to the fact that the NDA was broken and if that was why the soak test was cancelled. However, yes, the soak seems to have been cancelled.
It is plausible that the test was cancelled so that they could begin the general rollout instead; which, if true, is actually a good move by Motorola. I don't see why anyone should be angry that the soak is cancelled in light of the news of the general rollout. Once we have our hands on the update file, we can ADB sideload and profit!

2. It's before several Nexus devices
3. It's before Dev editions

Check for updates, mine is downloading as we speak.. no im not in the soak or any of that
Edit: Download complete, and update is installing.

Don't you think the sale is the reason that this phone is locked down so tightly? Seems like it would make the device more valuable to Lenovo.

Its more likely that verizon requested the lock-down. Their cool like that.

Hey guys, let's get a thread going for this. I have an idea of how we might be able to unlock the bootloader of this phone, but I'm not giving promises. First off, we need as much documentation for the chipset as possible (MSM8960), Snapdragon S4 Pro. Also, documentation relating to the boot process is welcomed. I am currently figuring out how the boot process on this phone works. What do you say guys? It should be a team effort to unlock this phone.

Maybe you're just nuts (see what I did there) But anyways, I'm still looking at the boot sequence and how it works. I think we might be able to modify the bootloader exploit for the GS4 since the X and GS4 use aboot and with that we might be able to overwrite the function that checks the value of whether the bootloader is unlocked or not. The aboot partition is loaded into memory first during boot, then the kernel and ramdisk is loaded into memory after on another memory address, whether the kernel/ramdisk is custom or not. There is a custom header in the ramdisk/kernel header that tells it to write to a certain memory address. You can edit the custom header to write to the same address as aboot, overwriting aboot therefore returning the value needed to complete the boot with the custom kernel/ramdisk. I will still have to work out the smaller details but I hope this works

Another idea would be if someone with a Dev edition moto x could check to see if any of the preloaded Verizon apps/services had root privileges. Then it would only be a matter of finding an exploit in the application itself instead of trying to look for one in the bootloader.

Obtaining root privileges has nothing to do with the bootloader.
I know but wouldn't gaining root make it easier to find an actual exploit?

I doubt that. Its Verizon and at&t that never wanted the phones unlocked. Lenovo wouldn't go against their wishes. Plus, Motorola is still Motorola.
The bright side for those who don't unlock now, is maybe they'll be allowed to unlock when the phone is no longer officially supported. At least then they can update through custom roms.
Then again, maybe not.....it is another incentive to get a new phone leaving them locked.
Sent from my cell phone telephone....
Like the title states, I was wondering if there is any progress on unlocking the bootloader. I am okay with the way things are, but I would love to run CM11. I appreciate all the work devs do around here. I am just curious to know if anyone is still working on the bootloader, and if there is any progress.
nope. no update that is.. not sure if anyone is working on it behind the scenes with newer devices out there

Sunshine worked on the Ultra/Maxx up to 4.4.3 but 4.4.4 is locked down tight, that includes the Turbo and Moto X 2014 as well. The options moving forward are HTC, LG (still able to "unlock" by downgrading firmware) or dropping the $$$ on a dev edition Samsung or the N6.
