I root my Note 3 because I need to use DiskDigger to recover the photo album which I accidentally deleted while dozing off.
I manage to recover some photos but my laptop (Wins 8.1 Pro) can no longer detect my rooted Note 3 for me to copy the photos out.
May I ask?
1) How can I detect my rooted Note 3 with my laptop?
2) Can I upgrade my rooted Note 3 to 5.1? If not, is there any way to unroot?
3) Is there other software to recover deleted photos?
Thanks.

1. get an OTG cable, connect a USB drive, copy the pics.
2. You can upgrade. but i am not much into it. browse the development threads.
3. DiskDigger is the best till I know.

Thanks for your reply.
I tried connecting usb cable but my laptop cannot detect Note 3 after rooting. I don't have this problem before.
Just dropping this here since I didn't see anything for an US version.
My thoughts on MM: fast, lots little Sony bugs were fixed (double tap for example), reception seems to be better and doze works very well. However, I feel that when the screen is on, it drains faster than LP.
Disclaimer: This worked for me. I provide no support for this. Do a TWRP backup.

Programs: TitaniumBackup 7.3.0.2 (restore data only)
Debloat by @frixed: Slimcore Debloat Script and I also deleted all the Google apps from the backup folder, saved additional 400mb.
Things that did not work:
- Xposed v82 kept getting deactivated on me. There is a v83 that came out over the weekend.
- Xposed modules: APM+ does not boot into recovery and @serajr modules don't work at all unfortunately
- Location Based Wifi port by @niaboc79
Things to test:
- Stereo sound mods, hopefully there's one out there that will allow louder output as well
- Gap Fix, messed up the phone
- Replacing the bootanimation, worked
Thanks for the pre-rooted file. Just wanted to know thougts from others that have tried this version and if it's safe to dirty flash over other region Lollipop.

I'm going to say do a TWRP backup first and try a dirty. A few others in the MM Recovery thread had done that and worked out fine.
I would not personally do this though. I also highly advise against it if you have Xposed installed. You will bootloop for sure.

Perfect, thanks!
1) Thank you very much for putting together this pre-rooted ROM; you're the real MVP.
2) I am having issues getting NFC to work. When I first clean install this zip (wipe EVERYTHING -> install) and boot, NFC tries to update its firmware and then returns Failed (-1). I reboot, and I am then unable to toggle the NFC on switch it settings. Has this happened to anyone else? Any thoughts on what to do next in order to troubleshoot it? I've run into this issue with both this US rom and an AU version as well.
You need previous nfc firmware to make it work again. So follow this steps :
1. Flash 5.1.1 rom trough flashtool with any customization and be shure to tick all wipes in flashtool
2. After first boot you will see nfc update dialog but this time success (so you repaired the NFC)
3. Root the phone and install recovery (i am sure you know how)
4. Flash this prerooted firmware withouth wiping anything.
5. NFC update dialog will popup but should be success again.
6. Done!

Thank you for your input!
I followed your steps but unfortunately at the first boot of 5.1.1 the NFC update failed (-1) once again, and flashing the pre-rooted firmware overtop did not fix it. I'm also having issues with NFC not being enabled on a 4.4.4 stock rom that I have tried. Could this be a sign of a bigger issue? I only just purchased this (new) phone the other day, but who knows what might have happened to it. I'm just not sure how else to diagnose it :-/

I had my z3 that was from KK to LP to MM and never had issues with the NFC through the various boots. I'd try a stock KK firmware (no root, nothing) and see if it runs fine? and the go through the entire process of getting root then up to LP and then to MM?

I did just that cow07, and unfortunately I get a failure at all steps/stages/etc.
Upon performing a diagnostic NFC test from the Services menu, I get the error message "The NFC device cannot be used" (in all versions of the firmware, KK -> MM).
Sony support asked me to try and run their repair tool using the PC companion software, but that keeps failing as well. I think at this point I may just try to send it back for a replacement, as it is still under my seller's warranty.
Thank you for the help, I'll be coming back here soon enough! This wound up being a hardware issue; after contacting my seller and getting a refund, I purchased another and had no issues using the aforementioned procedure. Thank you for your work!
Hey,
I tried to flash a stock rom to my Sony Xperia Z Tablet (32GB) - SPG312. The bootloader is unlocked and LineageOS was running on it.
After flashing the following file SGP312_10.7.A.0.228_1273-3719_R2E.ftf that was created by XperiFirm the Tablet does not boot anymore.
When I start the Tablet I see the Sony screen and the display becomes black. Connected to a windows system it is detected as Ericsson Mobile SPG312.
In flashmode it is detected as Ericsson Mobile S1 Service.
How can I get my Xperia Z Tablet working back to stock?
Thank you for your help!
Same Problem here with SGP311
But no solution yet?
No, very strange!
I often roll backk to stock or flashed customs without Problems.
Only these days Stock 5.1.1. Firmware only blank screen after Logo Init.
Have locked bootloader too, but nothing. Whats Wrong. Using flashtool.
Sony's Xperia Companion only reports error when start repair Mode.
It's a well known issue https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-tablet-z/help/flash-stock-rom-t3564623.

Thanks a lot. The Thread helped me to solve my problem!
Hello all,
I need to help a friend with his Note 4 N910W. The devices has some software issues but has a bad USB. Can not be flashed with Odin.
Already replaced the complete Charging port Flex/Module but still not connecting to PC for data. It doesn't also fast charge as I believe it uses the data pin to detect the charger plugged in.
I have tried rooting without pc then flashing a custom rom but can't find a rooting method.
Can anyone help or point to where a can get a ROM/FIRMWARE which is signed and can flash via the Stock Android Recovery cos I think it's the only next thing that can work.
Thanks.
Hello,
I've installed LineageOS 16.0 on my Zenfone ZE520KL (without rooting phone).
My bank application can use fingerprint but when I've tried to enable this function I got message that unofficial system was detected and fingerprints are disabled for security reasons.
I thought that if I didn't root phone, the application will work properly.
And I'm wondering if locking bootloader will help for this "issue"? Or I should do something more?
Ok, I found some solution.
I didn't relock bootloader but installed Magisk and use option Magisk Hide for bank application and it works.
The thread can be closed.
Regards.
