Oneplus two sound quality in headset - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
As title says. This thread is regarding oneplus 2 sound quality in headset.
Before oneplus 2 I was using Samsung s series phones and their sound quality in headsets are awesome.
But in oneplus 2 its not even close to Samsung s series phones. Oneplus 2 phone is nice no doubts but sound quality is not good.
Is their any way or mod from that we can improve our sound quality thanks

What version of OOS do you use? Updating seems to be the solution for some people.

speaker needs to be louder

Greetings everyone,
I came from a note 2, after couple of kernels/roms, i swear note 2 had amazing sound from the speakers, Compared to m8, the note 2 is a tiny bit louder BUT obviously it has distortion, but overall its much crispier on m8 (Duh). I cant wait till there are mods to make the speakrers of this louder, after all these are stock volumes! Cant wait.
Nice to meet you all!

That works great for all default sounds but I recommend Viper4 Android FX if you want to increase sound output for everything. I'm using the high quality mode and it works amazing. It definitely brings out the best of the speakers on the M8.

The audio quality on this thing melts my face

Picked this phone up today despite the complaints. The first thing I noticed is the sound. The included head phones sound pretty good, but on my bose head set it feels like my face is melting. I don't know what they changed between the S6 and the note 5 yet but holy cow. Keep giving it to me.
So it sounds better?

I wouldn't say I have a "golden ear" but it definitely has better high's, better lows, and more drool coming out of my mouth from the sound. So I would say yes.

the next update for the s6 and the edge has the audio improvement update in it
Totally agree...i use Gear circle and Gear level U wireless buds and the sound is amazing and so much louder with my note 5 compared to my Note Edge...love it
Any idea if the boosted headphone sound works for bluetooth enabled headphones like the JayBird X2?
what about the call quality? In ear speaker loudness, loudness over speakerphone etc. I don't understand why these things are always almost not mentioned in any reviews, it is a phone first of all, right?
I also noticed that the sound in my via Bluetooth is much louder and clearer. I'm very happy with it.

yes the new note five will be running a higher bit rate for audio which will make audio sound better. More so if you have higher quality music files. Makes me happy you posted about this because I heard about the improved audio and now I know its true if others are posting about it
The.sound is excellent

Yes just got my Note 5 yesterday also and did some testing between my iPhone 6 plus and LG G4 and the Note 5. The Note 5 is definitely the clear winner. The LG G4 is definitely sounding compressed, not sure why LG did this as the LG G2 had superb audio and was known for that. I honestly think the king now is the Note 5! ?

Anyone comparing the sound to the S6 or S6 edge? I have the S6 edge and the audio quality is not good, especially over bluetooth. Using the bletooth in my car or over my bluetooth speaker sounds hissy and pretty terrible while the same car and speaker sounded great with the htc one m8.

I agree with everything you said and I had those same devices. The only one that comes close to the Note 5 for me is the Sony Z3+, but I have so many complaints about that device that I'm not going to keep it. Anyway, my findings match yours and I couldn't be happier.

Not sure if this helps you since I don't use BT, but with IEMs via the headphone jack I find the Note 5 to be warmer and fuller sounding with less emphasis on treble like the S6 Edge I have. Also, while I initially thought the "UHQ Upscaler" was going to be a gimmick, it adds a surprising amount of punch to the audio! Overall, I'm like a kid in a candy store with this thing. I should also mention I use several high-end pairs of IEMs (Sony XBA-A3, MDR-EX1000, Dunu DN-2000j, etc.).

Sound is noticeably better but after using m8 and Nexus 6 nothing to write home about

Why must Samsung insist on putting the speaker grill on the side where it covers it up.
Love the audio quality I am so happy. So happy.
The UHQ setting is actually enabling 192khz hardware output on the audio chip.

hey buddy you seems like an audiophile....do you think note 5 sound matches those of some dedicated players like fiio x3 ?
and do you know exactly what is done internally when we switch on the UHQ Upscaler ?
and do you or anyone knows what DAC is used this time in Note 5 ?

Hi there - I'm not an audiophile, but I do appreciate a good, quality output. I actually haven't used a dedicated player; the most I've done is got an E17 DAC/Amp for headphones, but it wasn't worth the trouble for me personally.
The DAC is anyone's guess, but it should be Wolfson (as were most, if not all the Samsungs before it with Exynos processors).
Cheers,

I haven't tried the E17 with the Note 5 yet, but I suspect it will only make it louder. I'll give it a try tonight. E18 would be the better choice for the Note 5, but oh well

Audio quality?

I just purchased a pair of Beats earphones and tested them on both the S6 and S7 Edge and noticed that the overall sound and bass is much more louder and crisp on the S6 than on my S7 Edge. That said, has anyone who has previously owned an S6 or S6 Edge found there to be any significant difference in audio quality between these 2 devices?

I'm just talking stock for now until we get root. There's a noticeable difference in audio quality between my 2 devices. I'm just looking for confirmation from others.

I don't have the device yet but there should be a difference in sound. The s7 comes with a custom Samsung audio chip (Lucky is the name I believe). Samsung may be taking audio quality seriously now considering they now market high quality headphones.
Now as far as those Beats headphones. Audiotechnia or Vmoda are the way to go![emoji1]

I will definitely look into those but what I meant was that the audio quality on my S6 overall is louder and more crisp than the S7. My findings are only based on these Beats earphones but thought it was worth a mention. I know Samsung is using a new custom audio chip and with that you'd think the overall sound quality would be far superior to that of its predecessor but based on my results thus far, the sound just isn't up to par with my S6. It's tolerable though so I can't complain. Again, just thought it was worth mentioning.

I just received mine yesterday but I did notice something off from the s6. Tested via Android Auto (which uses USB audio) and my Jaybirds. Still good sound quality but not as crisp as the S6. Tweaked the EQ quite a bit but still have more work to do.

Seriously? I was hoping it sounds better than the s6 since its a new chip made by Samsung. The s6 I believed used a Wolfson.(don't quote me on that). Which apple used in the past. That is really disappointing if the quality is worse than the s6

Looks like I just got confirmation from the user above. Good to know it's not just me. Now, don't get me wrong, the quality isn't BAD but it isn't great either. As I said, it's tolerable but just not as loud and crisp as the S6. We should have more options to enhance audio output once we have root but until then, I'm going to continue trying to play around with the EQ and tweak it just right to mimic that of the S6.

I guess you misunderstood my post.. First of all, Beats headphones aren't as bad as you claim. There are both pros and cons just like any other piece of technology. Some like them, some don't. They're just decent in my opinion.
The whole point behind my op was that I first noticed a difference in audio quality when comparing the sound outputted from these earbuds on the S6 with that outputted on the S7. The overall sound is definitely much louder and crisp than on my S7. That's all I was saying..
But since you think Beats suck, what would you recommend I try?
Yup. That's why these Beats earphones sound just fine on my S6, right? Once again, you've misconstrued my OP but it's cool... No need to reply. Have a good one.

Perhaps bash_array's xda acct. has been hijacked? Hard to believe someone with more "thanks" than posts is a lazy reader AND belligerent. Your s6/s7 comparison is clearly valid regardless of earbuds used. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I use BT in my car and have noticed significant audio quality and clarity
Have you checked under audio experience section in settings?
The dac the exynos devices use is a Wolfson one. All the last generation galaxies use the Wolfson chip since that's what's paired with the exynos. Qualcomm always used their in house dac which is not bad but it's not as good as the Wolfson dac. So that's why the sound quality may differ. I have the note 5 and contemplating getting the exynos s7 edge because of this alone. And also due to the fact that I think I'll be done with rooting

have you or anyone heard any sort of static or crackling with the bluetooth audio? This was an issue for me in my Note 5. I went through 2 other Note 5's to see if it was the phone and for whatever reason, each Note 5 would play crackling and static audio via bluetooth to my car (a '15 Honda Civic). My nexus 6P works fine though.
Bluetooth sounds great. Plugged into headphone jack and it definitely not as clear. Midrange is gone, treble low. Same aux port on radio, just different 1/8 plug in...one bt, one line in. Headphones don't sound great, but are ok (tolerable)...tried the couple I had around.

Bad bluetooth quality

I'm relatively new to bluetooth headphones but I've tried two different popular brands with the 6t and in both cases the quality is terrible. Sounds tinny and has absolutely no low end(bass). Basically sounds like you're playing music over an old landline. I've tried the same headphones with a Pixel and there was much more bass and sounded better overall. I've tried every setting in the audio tuner and still can't get good music quality sound out of the headphones. It's night and day difference compared to wired headphones which sound fantastic with the audio tuner enhancements. Is this just the reality of bluetooth headphones or does anyone else think this phone puts out bad quality bluetooth sound?
Before you judge about the phone, test the earbuds with another source please. How should we tell how good or crappy the BT earbuds you have are? You haven't even given us brand names etc.;

It sounds exactly the same to me as it did on the P20 Pro. Have you done anything to the phone, or is it pure stock?

Pure stock.
Ok, I would not expect miracles from these, at these retail prices. But maybe the Pixel has some enhancement software already preinstalled...
I have the same issue with my one plus 6t. I've tried a lot of different headphones, and there is a distortion every time. The tinny sound you described is present on all of them. I've tried with other sources, and there is no distortion there. Is this only something that is present on some 6t but not all?
Had the same issue and went forward installing Magisk and JamesDSP - it's significantly better now...

no issues here playing music over BT headphones Sony WH-1000MK3, sound is perfect....
speaker is amazing imho, much louder than any other built-in speaker in smartphone I had chance to test
I agree sound is very good. i think the best then on any other xiaomi mobile phone.
in compare with mi8 it is double better and in compare with huawei mate 10pro, it is 100% better on mi9t
Good for me to, what do you think of the new "Hi-Fi audio" setting ? do you use it ? whit this option activated you cannot use the Mi sound enhancer, what do you prefer and for whitch earphone ?
Yeah, actually GREAT quality! They did not lie about High Res Audio.
Only thing is, it is pretty low volume (on Mi9T), but that is AFAIK because of stupid EU regulations.
I hope someone will make a tweak to enable higher volume, but the sound quality alone is amazing, just as good if not better than the LG V20 with their quad DAC.
Yeah it's amazing quality and enabling hi fi audio should really improve if you're using nice headphones.
actually is awesome

Coming from a ZTE axón 7 (which is one of the best sounding phones) gotta Say I'm impressed with the mi9t , it has a hi-fi logo on the box, and using it with brainwavz headphones the sound is really really good, up to the axón 7 somehow
