I have searched google for tutorial but nothing found.
Can anybody tell mme step by step what to do to increase my 528MHz?
Is there any tutorial?
And the final question, would overclocking really speed up Hero?
Hej, it is easy. You can download "setcpu" in xda: search it!
By using this app, you can overclock your Hero easily.
But overcloking seems to make the system sluggish...........(it was very smooth before)
I am using Villian 10.0.0.

Thx for the answer. So you don't recomend overcloking with setcpu?
No, something isn't right there, using the OCd kernels with SetCPU or OverclockWidget has improved performance of any ROM in my personal experience. Short guide, start of using values of min 350ish - max 650. Play for 5 mins, if ok, put it max setting up by one notch, play again. When it freezes up on you, you know you've gone one too high. You can also test how low u can set the min to save battery. Then start using the profile functions as well.
Mine runs pukka between 350 - 691, others can get 190 - 760.

I think the kernel has to be modified to allow overclocked frequencies..
I am in the same boat, I have the new official ROM, unmodified apart from root and would like to overclock..
Overclock widget shows 528mhz max, I assume SetCPU would be the same.. Is there an update.zip we can flash to have the stock kernel updated to allow the higher frequencies, but no other modifications?
Thanks in advance.
Yes indeed, they need to have a custom kernel. Are you using a ROM from here?... Most have their own overclocked kernels.
As far as I know you still can not take an update zip from one ROM and apply it to another without modifying it,... but I could be wrong. I was told the ramdisk could be extracted from the ROM your using and putting it into the overclocked kernel you want to use, this when the kernels were being made from source. Find out how to do that by searching for a guide on ROM cooking here on XDA.
However now with the official kernel released it might be possible to do it. Give it a bash. NANDROID FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi... sorry to bother you... but i can't figure out those things by myself.
Why the kernel in the stable version isn't overclockable? While in the nightlies it is? should i flash it apart?
Then... i flashed the google apps first, and then the patched market v6... but it's not working... why?

You sure you can't overclock your CM6.1.0 Stable?, i can overclock mine..
You can always flash the kernel that HCDR.Kernel v4.1 provided somewhere here in this forum section, i think its the same kernel that CM6 is using for all its build starting RC2.
Oh BTW, here's the link for your convinient..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798471
No Way! i flashed the kernel that you gently posted, but when i run "set cpu" the max value i can set is 528 :S
The market isn't working neither... Stable sto cazzo! (italian idiom to say it's not stable at all)
It's slower then my previous cyanogen... which was, if i recall, nightly build6!
Anyway... i read a few comments on the main thread of the cyanogenmod... i understood that build 50 is one of the best... do you advice me to flash that nightly, or do you have a better idea?
i am using the Stable build,, i did not flashed the HCDRKernel,, IMO it is incorporated in the CM stable build,, do wipe ur data and install the ROM again.. u should be able to OC... BTW nightly#50 is also a gud one.. u cn giv a try to it too..
I think you need the v5.2 market patch, as the mod doesn't have the latest market version. I suspect you'll need to wipe and reinstall to undo the changes v6 has done to the market.
Just check the CPU speed steps on "Info" in SetCPU app, if you have more steps above the 528 - there is OC kernel.. Mine has max value of 528 too, but t is enough for me, cause it's quite fast.
I made some profiles for battery levels by decreasing priority and it perfectly overclocks CPU if I want.
Also, yesterday flashed market v6 on CM6.1 and it works smooth.
same here... max value i can set is 528...
try another kernel, the 2.6.32.27 oc uv xtra neon fp, didn't work...
godspeed don't work...
Hey,
I see a lot of people using CM7 is this really the best one?
Also till how many mhz I can overclock on that one?
Yes Cm7 IS really great, in fact you can customize almost everything, and I really like that feature...
As for overclocking you can overclock I think to max of 768mhz(if I'm wrong somebody please correct me)...maybe you can a little bit more but I think it is kernel related...
Hope it helps,
Best regards

Irrespective of which ROM you choose, it is the kernel which allows (or disallows) you from Overclocking. Till date, there are 2 primary kernels which are available - HCDR.Kernel by Jacob and nFinity by arco, and both OC support upto 768MHz. (I think Deep-Knight has recently developed a new kernel for his ROM, which allows OC upto 600MHz)
Because of this, you can overclock your stock ROM also, if you so wish, by simply flashing a custom kernel.

Hi!
Which kernels can I use for original rom, if I want to overclock? HCDR, or Deep, or what? It will make the phone instable, or not?
Thank You!

You can use any. nFinity MC4 offers more features though, like Smartass Governor. It can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=995301
Else, you can use HCDR Kernel also, if you wish, and decide for yourself which suits you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798471
It shouldn't make the phone unstable at all. But, in any case, make a Nandroid Backup beforehand.
Thank You
Well M using hell fire .. Cm7 based ....
Which is stable till 729 Mhz overclock m using max 729 and min 490 (I guess)
Phone is Much faster than before and love playing angry birds
I read all the 2 posts, but Im not sure to change the original slow kernel, for a faster. All have some bugs, battery life, wifi, etc...
I dont know, which could be better for the stock rom, or which could be better than the original.
Anyway, I want to try one of that, but I dont know which.
How can I flash just the kernel? And also back up my programs with titanium, or mybackup?
It clears everything like the rom flashing?
Ok, I made it, its cool, and faster. Thanks for the help.
is the overclocking "app" in standard cm7? Or i must go to market or anything else to download it?

Its standard, under Settings > Cyanogenmod Settings > Performance Settings.
please guys i dont know is it normal or not so let me know that why does it always gets stuck on 3d tests while performing any benchmark using any of the overclocked versions gl notecore kernel. I really like that kernel but also do want some overclocking but whenever i try doing benchmark test using the extreme versions it gets stuck on the earth and moon rotation animation-testing screen and on antutu on the screen where battalion army animation is shown.
I have tried v2, v4, v5 v6 and till v8 extreme versions(overclocked) of gl notecore kernel. Tried and tested on rocket rom v7, kindroid v4.2 v4 3 and v5.1.1 also on latest and greatest clean note v4 but everytime it got stuck. It never happened to me on overclocked franco's kernel r5 nor did it ever happened on any cm9 or aokp roms while running anidroid kernel. So guys if you can help me out your help would be really appreciated
Thanks in advance.
I guess it's your device because I have used both benchmarks with gl notecore extreme and everything went all right.
I'm using v8 with criskelo's rom v10
i dont think so

For me it is, just use his rom. No tweaks that will conflict his kernel. Using now his rom and his beta 8.2 at full speed.
Not a single sod ore freez. Antutu 7300, quadrant 5300.
Please if you use a custom rom, delete all init.d. Those are his words. You can find it in system, etc, init.d
i tried it all

By his rom do you mean cleannote v4 as it is the current rom im running. Also i checked for that folder but it is already not present there. Also now i have noticed that on his v8.1ex version i get screen freezes while running quadrant which only way to get rid off is restart the phone. Im loving his kernel guys its extremely smooth but just help me out with this problem as i wanna flaunt its performance through technical data. Lol
Thanks for your support guys.

Well some phones do not like oc and uv. You should do a clean install and do not restore apps and system with tittanium backup.
First test your cleanote without your apps. i use nofrills for to set my cpu. Do not use set cpu because many users experiance problems with that.
Good luck
no results.

Hey mate i have already done as you said. I have not restored any app through titanium back up. Infact i do not have titanium even installed on my note on cleannote v4. There is no set cpu installed too. Btw i tried with no frill but still no luck.
One tiny little request if you can will you post the link of this thread on galvin's kernel thread so that might be able to help me as of right now im veey junior member so according to xda rules i cant.
Thanks for your time buddy.
Hi, as you requested, he did post your thread link over at the NOTECORE kernel thread. However, as I mentioned above, I m facing the same issue and have read the kernel developers answer on this as well. Acc to him, not every phone can support the EX version. Its due to the difference in voltages. My phone cannot handle the EX version as well. However, I m happy to stick with the Standard version. If you're looking for great Quadrant and Antutu scores, just change the governer to pegasusq using SetCPU or any similar app, uncheck Power saving option and then run the test couple of times. I always get around 4400 Quadrant and 7100 Antutu scores.
thanks guys

Thanks to all of you guys for your wonderful support and help throughout. oh so atleast now i know whats the reason for that thanks anyways lifehijack and yeah i hit the thanks button for all of you.
Also many thanks for posting this link on gl notecore kernel thread
So is there anyways we could play around with these voltages and make it work. May be some technical experts here might have the answer to that i hope.
Im using notecore 8.1 ex with classic rom v3 and they both run fine have got pretty good scores too.

All you need is the setCPU app (search in xda forums, you'll find it) and change the governer from ONDEMAND to pegasusq, that's it.

Yes bro i have done just the same as an alternative to ex version and it gives onsiderable performance and scores but will always have a craving for extreme version. Hope to get some technical help from xda experts to make ex version run on my note just fine.
As has already been mentioned not all phones are equal. your needs more core voltage than what my extreme kernel is configured for. if i increased it you would then complain about heat and battery life getting worse.
Stick with my standard version as that uses stock cpu voltages and frequencies. If you took the time to read the OP and even the last few pages of the thread you would have seen this mentioned.
You can use tegrak to adapt the frequency and the voltage. This way you can set the frequencies that suit best for your phone.

No bro im not like that complainbox guy. Anyways i dunno why and how or may be you read this post and improved it in your version 9 ex but now your ex v9 works perfectly fine on my note and yes buddy i have read your op around 4 to 5 times and everytime i install your newer version of kernel. And i wanna give you a big thank you for making us soo many wondeful kernels. Your are awesome mate.

Hi guys, fairly new to modding my phone, have tried a few different roms and kernels over the last week, and have sort of settled on cyanogen CM12.1 lolliop 5.1.1. with the kernel that comes with the rom. I've been seeing a few posts/roms that claim its possible to overclock the processor to 2.7ghz now I've tried to install synapse, and stweaks neither of which seem compatible, so I have kernel adiutor installed, but the max frequency it will offer me is 2,3 ghz, am I missing something? can't seem to find any info, can anyone point me in the right direction please

No apps can overclock if the kernel doesn't support the overclock.
Not all phones can can reach so high overclock.
Get arters kernel for cm12.1. Or use cm12.1 by temasek which supports up to 2.5
Thanks for the advise, I'm going to install arters kernel now and see what happens
I installed the arter kernel, and still no overclocking, also reduced my Antutu bench from 45403 down to 3400ish, so gone back to cm12.1 kernel for now. any ideas why I can't increase mas cpu speed?
Maybe it doesn't support till 2.7GHz. Try different kernel

Ok. well I have an update, I flashed the kitkat 4.4 liquid smooth rom yesterday, and that allowed me to overclock the cpu but unfortunatly, even overclocked it was slower than Tamasks cm12.1 rom, I also tried the liquid smooth lollipop rom, but again, it didn't allow me to overclock the cpu, it was faster than the kitkat rom, but still not as fast as the cm12.1 so I've gone back to that for now. Its looking like something to do with the lollipop version of android thats stopping the cpu from being overclocked....
Hm strange
