Ok so im looking at buying a sony smart watch 2 and im told if i put android wear on my iphone that the watch will work with my iphone 6 plus? can anyone confirm this please? kind regards steve.
The Sony Smartwatch 2, does not run Android Wear so no the iPhone will not work.
The Sony SmartWatch 3, does run Android Wear and that would work.
smartwatch 2 is only for android smartphones (runs a proprietary sony os on the watch ) so wont work with iphones, the 3rd gen of the sony smartwatch should work like astro said earlier as it runs android wear . so far i find using android wear on ios is relatively limited in its uses , compared to using it on a android smartphone.

Is it possible to port Android wear to an old phone (sgs 1) to use as a smart watch and get updates over the bt connection?

If the device has Bluetooth LE and the right specs it's quite possible. The wear devices run a form of android on the same type of hardware as cell phones and tablets (the LG G Watch, for example, has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 and 512MB of RAM inside).
However, it really depends on when the full Android Wear source is released and whether someone is interested enough to try porting it over. With the always-on display mode the battery life will probably be very, very poor.

Don't judge, (s)he may have a very good reason for wanting to do this, i.e. to learn more about how the Wear os runs on different shaped screens or to build one device into a dashboard for the car.
This is actually starting to sound fun now that I start to think about it.
I will try to port it!

I've got two Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus phones (I'm a tech for Sprint, they don't fetch much money on buyback, and all my co-workers know I love the Nexus phones).
With AMOLED screens, those could be put to some great use with a Wear like system.
great idea
its a very great idea because i got x10 mini and i just want to install Android wear into it.
small phone + Wear interface = nice combo
Sincerely

So does anyone have a solution? I have an ALPS K8 Android Phone Watch (not a smartwatch, a phone on my wrist, not really that good), but if I can get it to run Android Wear, then it would be very useful.
I read somewhere that its possible to flash a custom ROM, to get Wear to run over the existing Android distribution, but I can't find a suitable ROM to flash it into.
Please help.
I was never able to find any solution, sorry.

I also bought the same watch, DM368, please also let me know about rooting the watch and making it compatable to android wear...
hi,
I'm looking to buy a couple of smartwatches which can run Android Wear apps, so that I can use them for development. This effectively means play store access (out of the box or rooted). A big, big pro would be BLE.. but not mandatory.
Does anyone know which watch is the cheapest out there ? I'm not looking for coolness, battery life, etc. Basically, it will be used chiefly for android dev.
the original LG G Watch should be the cheapest, or at least it is here (in the Netherlands), the Gear Live is very close to it
there are only 6 AW watches available right now
-LG G Watch
-LG G Watch R
-Moto 360
-Asus ZenWatch
-Samsung Gear Live
-Sony Smartwatch 3
I have seen some wonderful watch faces designed for android wear, I would love to use them as widgets on my xperia z2. I can't think of any reasons why its not possible since a smartphone is more advanced in its built. So any ideas or leads?
I gathered some information in this forum and around the internet and I've found that there are 2 possibilities for me: android wear devices (but the price is higher) and Chinese smartwatches, which seems to be more "complete" as they run a modified version of android (so that play store and other common android features work on the watch). Plus, I'd like to know more about rooting and flashing smartwatches... I see some kingwear, or lemfo lem5 (currently my favourite by design).
Now, is this correct? And if so, what smartwatch would you suggest right now?
I've also found these: FINOW X5: http://www.gearbest.com/smart-watch-phone/pp_576172.html NO.1 D5+: http://www.gearbest.com/smart-watch-phone/pp_446744.html

The only problem i have with the chinese smartwatches (i have 3 different types) is battery life (with the exeption of LEM4 / DM98). I can't get thru the day with one charge. And what good is a smartwatch if it runs out of battery in the middle of the day. It's like wearing a rock around your wrist.
Android wear smartwatches get thru the day on one charge, sometimes even two or three days (i have the LG G watch R, and only have to charge it once in two days). I'm waiting untill the Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches will hit the marked in a few weeks/month to really replace my LG g watch R. Yes, they will be more expensive then the chinese "full android" smartwatches but battery life is important to me.

I don't think battery life would be a problem for me, I would not make an intense use of it. It's more like -when my phone battery runs out, I still have my watch. But ye when the battery runs out the watch becomes a rock. So I should consider battery life of: NO.1 D5+, FINOW X5 PLUS and LEMFO LEM5 (my 3 choices for now). Do you have any of them?

No i don't have those. I have a Q1, LEM4 (sold it recently) and DM368(LF16). And i'm about to sell them all and i will probably wait for the android wear 2.0 smartwatches (although i kinda like the full android type of watches). I did a lot of searching and internet browsing before i bought my watches. And spend a lot of time tweaking them (also rooting them). But as a said, the battery life is a bit of a party crasher for me. I'm looking for a smartwatch that can replace my smartphone on some days. The LEM4 came close, but it's not a very appealing smartwatch, and the Android 4.4 version that i bought (android 5.1 is also available) had a very small app installation partition.
My perfect smartwatch isn't out there yet...

I see, since this would be my first smartwatch ever, I will get the NO.1 D5+ I think cause i like the band and the hardware is really powerful for the price. Who knows, maybe one day i will try one with android wear 2.0 like you. Thanks
Hi,
can you advise me some ultra cheap chinese smartwatch only for developing (around 20€)? I'm begginer android developer and I want to develop also version for smartwatch. I don't need any heart rate sensor, GPS, cellular, etc ... Also I don't care about design. I need only a battery life for 3+ hours and bluetooth.
Do you have any ideas? And what about OS - I need Android or Android Wear?

It is possible to run my own application on this smartwatch?
Thanks
