ALSO, the screen would not turn on when i get on a call and cover the proximity sensor, Only way to come back is to reboot it.I dont know whats going on with my phone but lately the knock on has gotten worse and it's pissing me off. Past week, only way to turn on screen is with the power button and when it wakes up its only for a few seconds, then relocks itself. Knock on will work randomly when it feels like it but really its only worked like 10% of the time the past week. I've checked for any new apps, removed them even though they were official. I dont get it. I have xposed and g2 xposed. Uninstall them. problem still happening. I'm on Rooted Stock 11a.
anybody else experience this?
Amazingly, I googled the phone call screen off problem and found a workaround until it really dies I guess.
Make pressure at the top of the phone by the spaker, sensors area, squeeze it there and poof its working great again. So weird, somehow the inside gets apart from itself? definitely a hardware problem that seems pretty popular with this phone.
hi all, I'm a long time cm user. I've been using the cm11 for the s5 ever since they fixed the camera issue. i did some searching around to try to find the answer to my question with no luck. When I'm using the phone a lot of times the phone proximity sensor will work and the screen will go dark when I bring the phone to my face but I am still able to hit buttons while the screen is dark(a lot of times after I'm done with my phone call I will find myself having opened two or three different applications such as the calendar or settings) . And I'd say about 8 out of 10 times when I bring the phone away from my face the screen does not turn back on and I have to wait for them to either hang up on the other line or hopefully the hardware buttons will work to turn the screen back on which doesn't always work. Is there a workaround for this?has anyone else been having these issues?
I have tried reflashing the rom and wiping the cache and dalvik cache but that does not seem to help at all.
I think it's a small bug that they're still working on. Cyanogen should begin releasing official nightlies soon. Just keep updating.
Hi guys
I recently bought an OnePlus 2. With the original firmware, I experienced a very strange and very annoying issue: My screen randomly turned off (e.g. during a chat in WhatsApp). The screen turns off and I have to turn it on again by pressing the power button. Then I enter my PIN to access my phone again and it locks AGAIN. This happens like 10 times in a row, then I have to reboot the phone and it was OK again. I seriously don't know what triggered this issue.
However, recently I got pissed of because I tried to call one of my customers and as soon as I entered my PIN and tried to open the phone app, the screen locked again and I almost threw away my phone. Damned troll.
So I decided to try another ROM as I thought it was an OS-related issue. Now I'm running Exodus Android 6.0.1. I did a clean install and guess what: The issue came back on this ROM...
In my opinion there's only something both installations (my previous 5.1.1 stock ROM and my current 6.0.1 ROM) have in common: I've been using XPosed with Amplify, Greenify and XPrivacy. Other than that, I have no idea what it might be.
Have you encountered the same or a similar issue? If so, were you able to solve it? How did you solve it?
I just uninstalled Amplify, as I think it stops somehow the Gyroscope service, that's why it locks randomly. I'll check if the issue appears again...
I think I have good news for you guys: I guess I was able to locate the issue.
I noticed it always happened when I was holding the phone in the hand I had a ring on my finger. Then I found out the phone has magnetic sensors (for flip covers).
I downloaded the Xposed module "Magnet Sensor Control", the bug hasn't appeared so far!
I hope I was able to help you guys with my findings. This thread may be closed now.

It's an inherent issue with some displays present on the Moto G4. It most often happens when you charge your phone. Too much current builds into the frame of the display and you get weird ghost and jitter touches.
No way around it unless you send it in, and even then it may be only a temporary fix.
I also face this issue. Unable to find solid solution for this. Finally i decied to go for custom rom like RR and Invicta. This still comes occasionally(when Heats too much during phone charging)

On my phone this happens while not charging. Seems to happen about one out of every 3 times the phone is unlocked using the fingerprint sensor. Locking the screen and unlocking via a pin seems to be a reliable way of getting past the issue. Though occasionally it happens on the pin entry screen before it the pin has been entered. Needless to say, it IS annoying.
Same problem which is fixed.
I had this problem with the factory firmware too, intermittent bouts of the phone going crazy with phantom touches on my Moto G4. I sent it to Motorola/Lenovo after the supplier gave me their phone number and they did find the problem and fix it. Now I can play graphic intensive games even during fast charge and the phone is awesome for once. : )
Please note they will fix it for free if in warranty and bootloader not yet modified.
Pressing power button to turn off the display and then pressing power button again to turn the display back on will provide temporary relief from jittery screen. I noticed that the jittery screen has twice subsided over time but came back twice immediately after OS upgrade so blaming the problem on charging, or hardware doesn't seem accurate.

As a last ditch effort prior to buying a replacement phone I deleted all apps I installed, reset phone and reinstalled fresh copies of most if the apps I needed.
I don't recall every thing I did but my focus was to delete everything I could and then reset phone back to factory state. After reinstalling, my jittery problem went away and has not returned. Your millage may very, so no promises. Phil

phone going crazy
Hi,
I am having the same exact problem. I have observed that Google Assistant is intruding because each time this happens, Google Assistant is trying to run. Reboot is a temporary fix but the problem persists. I have removed most of the third party apps just to see if anything changes but it did not work.
This is not something that was happening from the start. I have the phone for about 2 months put the problem only started a couple weeks ago. I would love to hear if there is a solution and what. Thanks
Sadly, but compared to the issues visible indoors, in outdoors this Lenovo gift turns complete crap:
youtu.be/dTcHclVEfCg
"Lenovo Moto Z2 Force touchscreen gets completely unusable when getting outdoors! The video is made at about 0 degrees Celsius. So it takes about 30 sec from getting MotoZ2 Frc to sleep with pwr btn (and wakeing up back) to see the touchscreen goes crazy. At -10C, it takes ~5 sec. At +15-20C, after several min it becomes unresponsive and have to use pwr button to recover.
Lenovo, what you have done to Motorola ?!!"
Can it be fixed somehow with changing the upper protective part? I have seen comments that the touchscreen can stop working completely, if peel off the cover part..
So I've looked at all the other threads on this topic already, and most of them were CM14.1 or CM14 issues... I'm running RR (as can be seen in my signature) on 3 of my S5's. 2 of them have been fine for almost a year with it. One of them isn't so happy
You turn it on... don't do hardly anything (i literally use it as a phone, imagine that?!?), no overclock/underclock or any root tools... just my standard MoodSMS app and the other standard minimal GAPPS
Could be 1 minute, could be 15 minutes, could be 3 hours, could be instant. I turn the device on, it works fine... Once I turn the screen off or it goes into sleep mode due to screen on time out, it never turns back on without battery pull. Also, sometimes it just randomly reboots and gets CRAZY hot
I'm chalking this up as a hardware issue, but I still wanted to ask others about it to see if maybe I'm just being stupid about something. This also is a Release Day Galaxy S5... so it is over 3 years old
Any experience with this kind of issue? if so, what did you do to try to fix it, or did you just get a new phone (i did personally, but I want to go back to my S5. Got a Nexus 6 and a 5C... ones too big, the others too small. S5 is perfect)
Post some logcats and dmsg logs?
