Question to all the Frost owners - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How is the device holding up as far as scratching? I returned my aluminum for defect reason and now am thinking about getting frost instead but am worried that the white would show scratches. Can anyone share there experience on owning the Frost model?

so far so good, don't see any scratches, used for 2 weeks now

same here, but I have a case

No Scratching so far.. Been a week of regular usage.

Had mine for 1.5 weeks, no case, no scratching or marks at all.

2 weeks and no marks and it looks much better than aluminium version

Can you return it for another color? Only reason I ask is because the 64gb frost version just came back into stock but I settled for the Aluminum one because it's all that was available.

Love my frosty. No issues at all!

No issues if you use a case and don't drop it.
What was the problem of your aluminum? did it chip because I was led to believe that they were all the same material and if one chips I would assume the others would too.

No issues with the Frost so far. There is a noticeable difference in the feel of frost vs the aluminum that I returned. It's not better or worse just different... Perhaps smoother. But given a choice, I prefer the Frost.

No my camera was making a noise that would get capture in all of my videos. And I just did a straight return to wait for another batch in hopes that issues would be worked out.

I've got an aluminum (my wife's) and a frost (mine). Both were put immediately into cases, so obviously no scratches. I think the frost looks a lot nicer...using a clear case. Don't really care about putting the aluminum in a clear case so I guess that sums up my opinion on the looks of the aluminum.

No issues, but I did put a skinomi matte skin on the back and sides
Glad the naked frosts are holding up just fine!

Been a week of use for my frost and still scratch free!

Ballistic shell gel case

Hi, I'm thinking about buying the Ballistic shell gel case, but I wanted to see if anyone had tried it and had some opinions or reviews?

I've got it and love it. Some people don't like how exaggerated the corners are but after multiple drops I'm so thankful for them

I do not have this case but It is clear that this case will do the job very well.
suffice to say, the price is very steep; $34.99!
I personally have the 'Ringke Fusion Case' - You could pick it up on Amazon for around half the price and it does the job very well,
on the plus side, it has a clear back so you can see the Nexus 4's awesome design or if you have; dbrand skin!
Just my 2c

Thin hard case with decent grip?

I have the diztronic tpu, but it just seems to add too much bulk for my taste, and it's slippy as hell. I have better grip without a case.
I have searched a lot here and Google, but no one really seems to talk about any of the hard cases having decent texture that helps with grip.
Are there any options that I have missed?

You should definitely try meifeng case like this one here http://www.ebay.com/itm/Meifeng-Hard-Skin-Cover-Case-LCD-Protector-For-Google-LG-Nexus-4-E960-Black-/271115454049?pt=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item3f1fbd8661 I haven't owned any other cases for my nexus 4 beside that one so i can't really compare it to any else case but for me grip (compared to naked phone or naked phone+XG film protector) is excellent. It also look's very nice, you can find some pics, reviews and comparisons here on XDA. I'm 100% satisfied with it
I love my Diztronic case! :silly:
Try these

http://www.amazon.com/Matte-Rearth-...&qid=1366551372&sr=8-19&keywords=nexus+4+case
This is what you want: Poetic Palette SLIM
Oh the diztronic is a great don't get me wrong, and I only use tpu cases (diztronic, s-line, cruzerlite) on my other phones. I just find that unlike my last phone (one x) the nexus 4 is a little too bulky with a tpu case on it. Plus the finish on is just soooo slippery.
I have never used a hard case before since they seem to add very little protection compared to tpu, but I want to keep the nexus as thin and light as possible. While still giving decent protection to the screen.
Unlike a lot of people I don't care if my phone itself gets a scratch or ding in the casing of the phone. Only thing I really care about is keeping the screen as perfect as possible.

Note that there is one major issue with the Meifeng if you have the orb... it won't stay on. I have no problems with the TPU cases in this regard, but with the Meifeng on it, the phone simply won't stick to the charger.

Feel is great, and it will prevent the back and sides from getting scratched, but offers little protection from drops (especially if it lands on the bottom or top as there is not much of those areas that are covered). No real shock absorption either.
Has anyone seen a review or tried one of these cases?

Its a two piece hard case but it does offer protection of all the sides.

Well, that doesn't seem all that surprising with so many reports from folks who have problems with the phone sticking to the orb. Mine sticks great to a slick surface. Not so much to a porous one.
Another vote for the Meifeng. I gave my original to a friend because I was on the whole bumper bandwagon. I missed it so much I ordered a new one. Great feeling in the hand. Not so great with the top/bottom protection but it's grippy so hopefully you won't drop it.

Nexus 6 - To Case or Not To Case

That is the question. Are you gonna put a case on your nexus 6? Spigen has multiple cases on their website(http://www.spigen.com/brands/google/nexus-6.html), they look pretty decent, however i might go with no case so i can always have direct contact with the premium materials. Im thinking about getting a squate trade warranty instead so i do have some protection if the screen breaks. Any opinions on squaretrade?
No way, the phone is big enough. Plus, whenever I get a case I end up taking it off in a day.
Sent from my Xiaomi Mi4
I use Bugatti hand made leather case whit all my phones. Top ****. But right now, there's no XXL case for N6 yet.
shopbugatti.com/en-us/catalog/mobile-accessories/universal-cases
(Add ww. can't post link, i m new on forum).
I pre-ordered spigen via Amazon, but I would prefer without because the phone is already very big.
The question is, how easy is to replace the back plate or back battery door?
I don't have any experience with Motorola phone, and from my experience with Nexus 5 from LG, that's not really easy, need to pry it open!
If the material is not expensive and easy to purchase, I won't use a case.
However, I am not sure with the frame around the phone, the one looks like a silver lining. Is that part of the back plate or front plate?
I think a leather pouch case would work the best for such a large device. You keep the device protected when transporting aswell as the benefit of using the device naked.

I totally agree with you. This is what I'm planning to do and that's how I used all my phones since the HTC Desire. It's like an awesome mix! Just need to remember to blow it out time to time for possible sand.
the heavier the device the more acceleration when in free fall before impacting a hard surface. I'm getting a case for sure, the spigen slim armor is a start
I don't know yet. Maybe something from Seidio
I like having a cheap easy on / off tpu case. It's nice to just throw it on quick if heading out to bar hop. That's the only time I worry about needing a case!
Anyone familiar with squaretrade warranty?
Otterbox or bust

I would like to see a case maker design a case that you could store a stylus in.
I'll most likely buy one of the Spigen cases but I doubt I'll use it very often. I hate cases.

I actually took my Note -2 out of the case for a day... and dropped it. Shattered the screen. Got a replacement through insurance, and lost my unlocked bootloader. Been using an otterbox since. For this phone, Otterbox is just going to be too big. I'm looking for something that will protect it from falls, but that isn't so wide/thick! Any thoughts anyone?
A very, very thing profile case. I would hate to get scratches on the metal frame or the back. But I love naked phones so I might just stick with a bumper case.
I will probably use a glass screen protector though.
Otterbox doesn't make Nexus cases.

Frost issue?

Those that have the frost color, is it normal for screen not being flat on the sides, crystal bezel to have 2 minor scratches, sim card tray not 100% flat with the rest of the bezel, lower back panel not flat with rest of the body? Second frost I receive and pretty much same "issue", especially the scratch at the bottom where you plug the charging cable.

Do you just go around and use word troll without any reason??? I have exchanged 2 frost devices same issues. Do you own the frost? The aluminum I had was fine but you could notice that the crystal bezel on the aluminum was made of different matetial, while on the frost the crystal part of the bezel seems different and more prone to scratches. Anyways both frosts I received they had scratches around the charge area and also when I put scrren flat on the desk the phone moves because of sides not being even. Hopefully third replacement coming tomorrow is perfrct because I am really liking the frost color.

No I'm just skeptical that someone would think that's the norm. I'm sending this from my 128GB Frost. I've had it since late October. I live right near one of Google's major warehouses so the shipping took a day. Mine is 100% even, doesn't move, no scratches. I love the color. A couple people reported theirs not laying flat in other colors as well. Just bad luck I'm afraid.

Which color to choose for nexus 6P?

Guys I'm really confused between GRAPHITE AND ALUMINUM. I love both the colors but ive heard some people saying that on graphite its much easier to see the scratches and fingerprints all over it. In aluminum people say it'll hide the scratches and fingerprints...... But then the chamfered edges on aluminum is shiny similar to what iPhone 5 series had and after sometime those edges start to look ugly and scratches can be seen easily on those edges, as I have already used iPhone 5 white variant.
Now I'm all confused whether which color should i choose...
What you guys think, pls share your opinions and mention the reasons as well.
get graphite.

Aluminum is my least favorite in picture but super sexy in person.
I got the Aluminum, looks the best. Black shows fingerprints and is an old look, everyone has had a black phone before.
But what about the edges in silver variant which might turn ugly due to scratches after some use?
Pick the color you really want and don't worry about it. You are better off spending time worrying about the phone bending than having scratches.

I am waiting to have the Silver version delivered... I think that it's a matter of whether you would like to see the rear "visor" or not. If it's a feature you like, get the alu, otherwise the black one tends to hide it, but makes the phone a bit less unique.
Owning a black HTC One M7, its anodized aluminum surface has now small chips and scratches which are very visible due to the color contrast with the body. By the way, the chamfered edges look like they are the element least prone to scratches
If you want premium go for gold
I have that one and damn this thing feels looks premium also that black visor on gold looks dope!

I got graphite because who doesn't want a jet black phone?
Graphite here. Using a case anyway, rhino bumper. Not a single scratch, bending is an issue if you sit on your phone or charge it to the point it's going to explode.
Colour choice is 6 of one and half a dozen of the other, its soley down to the end user.
Do you see fingerprints on its back on daily basis? Does it look oily? How often do you have to rub the back to make it look clean?

Batteries swell when they're overcharged. I've seen a mechanics diagnostic kit actually break the device, the device split almost in half as the battery had more than tripled in size.
I know it's not supposed to happen but believe me it can.

You should the need titanium orange color.
