Hi all,
How do you change the font on this device? Through the usual font app on the play store ?
That's a good question. There are a ton of font apps out there. I'm coming from a Note 3, so I don't know which is best.
I've used i-Font but there are some instances where it is unsure of what to do.. For instance the ":" on the lockscreen is just a big question mark "?"
The phone needs to be rooted first, then finding a compatible font can sometimes be tedious. I've ran into the same issue as the above post with the ":" in the time.... Sometimes it's a "?" some times it's a couple square blocks. With the instructions below, it gives you the option to "back up" before you change the fonts, which I would highly recommend.
I used this thread to get different fonts on my 6P: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176490
I downloaded and flashed the XDAPowerFont zip, then downloaded Font Installer *Root* from the playstore (as per the instructions in the thread). Worked like a charm.
I used ChinaCat font and had no compatibility issues - as you can see in my screenshots, some things didn't change but most did.

Well, i unzipped the apk, and tried looking for an obvious way of changing the resolution of the keyboard (Which im assuming is the problem), but none of the files contain any info of the sort. So im guessing that the "porter" would have to go into every file, and basically recompile the whole thing for the lower res. But im no dev, so i could be wrong!

Seeing as it's multitouch, maybe it lets you hit more than one key at once without screwing up...

it works great, i have been using it since yesterday.
It's very accurate too, i haven't had problems like hitting the wrong letters.
Edit: after further investigation, it seems it is not multitouch, however, I'm not sure of the benefits of this already sleek keyboard would gain through multitouch.
Not sure what you mean multitouch works fine for me. You can hit shift and still type letters in capital without issue. Using this and keeping swype around too as it works great.

I don't think this works for any Cyanogen based ROMs. I am running the one by framework and neither flashing in recovery or installing the .apk via file manager seems to work.

It's compatible with a stock nonroot eris, which leads me to believe it works on nearly anything because all the required apks are built in, but it should just work by installing it and enabling it in the languages and keyboards setting. If not then

speech to text is good.
this keyboard has no perceivable lag at all. it keeps up with my typing and I am making less mistakes as a result.

This keyboard is awesome. Managed to get me off of Swype. Has little to no lag. Reminds me of the iPod/iPhone keyboard, which is a good thing.
I apologize if this has been discussed, I really did search and only found one place where this was asked, but there was no answer. According to the Samsung 7.7 features page it says this "Mini Apps : Upgraded so you can choose and edit your own Mini Apps tray. You can easily access favorite features such as Calendar, Email, or PenMemo as a pop up over full screen applications. " So obviously my question is this. How is this done? Or is it even possible on my model? Thank you and again sorry of this has already been addressed.
If you look at the bottom bar on your Tab you will see an icon that looks like an upside down 'v'. Click on it and it will bring up your mini-apps tray. You can launch those mini apps over the app you are in.

I think you misunderstood my question. I know about the up/ down arrow and the mini apps. But it says that is is Upgraded so you can choose and edit your own Mini Apps tray. So Im trying to figure out how to change them if its possible on the wifi only 6810. Thanks

Im not totally sure which one I used, but it might have been the one in post 19. But that one will change the icons as well. Im not sure where you might get one that is stock. The same author of that thread "Ssaass" makes an app called "Wizzbar" that might help you. I may be able to make one for you. Upload your systemui.apk and Ill see what I can do.

Ok, didnt think I forgot about you did you? I think this is what your looking for. The edit function shows up when you press the mini apps button. Lower right corner, cant miss it. This is all stock icons with edit function built in. Hope this is what you wanted. I tested this on my rooted stock 6810. Let me know if it works.
PS: For anyone that might want to know how I did it. All I did was use the "layout" folder in the Res folder from the apk that has the edit function. Then rezipped, changed name and permissions, and put back into system/ app.
Awesome... Thanks for your time. I'll try it when i get home tonight. I'm thanking you now anyway...

Yes, it works, thanks... But what I didn't expect is that you can't add any app you want, it's just limited to some samsung "mini" apps which really su**s!
I wonder if there's a way around that...
Thanks again I really appreciate it anyway.

Yea. Thats why I dont even use it. I use "honeybar" and hide the bar in games, movies, etc.
I recently noticed that when using the stock emojis that there are now a few blank spaces where it appears emojis used to be. I haven't changed any settings, though I was briefly using Go SMS but stopped(and uninstalled it) due to the MMS and other bugs. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this, or is this normal and I just never noticed this before...?

I've always had this issue even after re-flashing the keyboard and completely flashing my phone back to stock.
I think it's some weird issue that everyone experiences, and I'm not really sure how google overlooked it.
(couldn't find anything in google reports)
Hmm that's disappointing, hopefully there's a patch with the next update. Or at lease GO SMS gets their act together and updates their app to fully work with the nexus 4. Thanks for the response!
I just wanted to go ahead and bump this thread. We have had the update for 4.2.2 and still this problem exists for me.
I had maybe one or two blank squares with stock android on my nexus 4 so it wasn't a huge issue but Ive recently flashed a new rom and upon enabling the android emoji support, even more of the tiles came up blank than before. There are about 10 blank tiles scattered throughout.
I have gone into the add on dictionaries in the android keyboard and deleted and re installed emoji for English but it did not affect anything.
Anyone else having this problem or know of a way to fix the issue without having to use another app?
bump
surely others have to be having this issue

i always had the few blank spots on several different roms.
always thought it was an issue with the emoji keyboard itself.
never found an updated version of it though.
i actually dont even use it anymore.
i only use emoji in texts and the emoji options in CM and PA work well
I dont think it would be an issue with the keyboard itself because when i installed it on stock i only had a couple blank tiles and when i installed it on my paranoid android rom there were about 10 randomly blank squares. I dont know if its messing up during installation or what?
and i would be willing to bet that other people have different tiles left blank than i do.
Its just annoying because i can see most peoples emojis but when they happen to use one of the ones that are blank on my phone, they also show up blank in whatever message i am reading (text/twitter) so i see some of them but not all of them

What's the best way to get Emoji's working? Being able to see them would be nice... but just sending them would be fine. Anyone have a way of doing this? I know about Handcent/GO SMS emoji extensions but I like the stock TW messaging app, so I don't wanna do that.
EDIT: Also, I'm talking about being able to send them everywhere (Messaging, Twitter, Instagram, etc.). Seeing them everywhere would also be a plus as mentioned above
Well if you don't want to use a different messaging app, then you have to replace the system font with one that has emoji support I believe.
Edit: Or you can flash the zip here for the default android emoji http://www.androidcoliseum.com/2013/06/how-to-get-422-emoji-keyboard-on-your.html

Thanks. I already installed and using it on my note 9. It has some new features like quick phrase, addition number board... but I really want it to have a number row which appear permanent on top. and predict words can use all time or at least in search bar, chrome... that why I'm trying to find a modified apk with hope that someone did my favors.
I actually don't want to switch to another keyboard cuz I addicted of swiping to get predict words..
