Anyone have issue with TWRP not erasing/flashing roms properly..
I have a dark theme installed Domination Theme with the extras (MMS, contacts, etc) and i did a very clean install, normally I go Wipe > Advanced and select all partitions and format it.
After flashing another rom, I noticed some parts are still dark themed like the MMS, Google search bar, contacts, etc
Anyone know whats wrong?
Flashing ROMs or doing wipes does NOT change the vendor partition which is where layer themes are located.
You would need to reflash vendor.img in fast boot to wipe it.

ahh... that would make sense... i had to install layers manager and delete theme..
Can I just delete the overlay folder via file manager app and reboot?

So i've been looking to theme my X and someone told me to use Rom Manager for themeing because it's easy. But if all i did was a basic root and i didn't change bootloader or i'm not deoxed or whatever else you can possibly do to this phone will this mess my phone up? Or is it fine to use to theme my phone with just a basic root?

Rom Manager will need the Bootloader in order to do the installs. Rom Manager basically boots into recovery and installs the .zip file you downloaded.
If you don't Deodex your phone and install a theme, I do not think it will 'break', but your theme is likely to be half-a$$ed. Themes replace images (which should still work even if not de-odex) and they edit certain parts of other files (services.jar for example) to change the colors of some text. If your phone is Odexed, the coding for those colors will not be in the right place and thus won't change.

You can Deodex. You can either follow the manual process (there is a thread in the Themes section.
Or if you want to download Rom Manager/Bootstrap, you can then either load a complete system (Nandroid backup) of a 2.2/rooted/deodexed system (There's one of these in the Themes section as well)
Or there is a version of the 928Droid Black Glass that supposedly will Deodex your system while it installs the theme ...
I was just wondering if there are a clever trick to reflash a theme already installed on the device.
In this particular situation I have changed some of the icons in the framwork-res.apk. I then copied them to the theme, wich is BrightSilence, and tried to flash it all over again. Result - bootloop.
So, is there any step you could do to circumvent this, or is the only option to reflash the ROM. and then the theme?
Thanks
Yes, just reflash a unmodified version of, in your case, BrightSilence or am i missing something?
Or revert to the nandroid you made before messing with the system partition.
The thing is that BrightSilence is already installed on the device, but now I want another set of icons. Flashing the theme again with the modified framework-res just result in a bootloop.
It seems there really is no shortcut, than to reflash ROM, then new theme.
Thanks anyway.

U are wrong.
Installing theme - means overwriting some files into new ones, not adding or removing some.
So if u changed framework file, flashed and got bootloop - u can flash theme again (overwrite bad file) and boot correctly.

I do get that really. But what now if I want to apply a new framework-res? I know I can always nandroid my self out of a bootloop.

U have to mod framework correctly and will not end in booloops.
Use Apk Manager to decompile, change, compile and sign framework-res.apk.
Do not push file via adb - use flashable zip.

But the framework-res is from the UOT, shouldn't that be packed/signed properly?
Well, I am going to try anyway, thanks!
EDIT: Tried to cook a new file, with the exact same framework-res I used earlier. Used UOT to cook, and worked perfectly. Thanks to mendozinas! ;-)
hi, im rooted and running cm7 but wanting to flash this kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036996
but from what i've read this has a custom boot screen,
can someone please link me or upload the zip with the standard nexus s bootanimation so i can go back to that?
thanks
Idk if you still need it, but here you go:
http://www.mediafire.com/?7vm63bexn95u5z1
Do you need help flashing it? Cause it wont work if you just try flashing from the SD card. You need to move it to the media folder first and flash from there. OR if you wanted to use a third party software try: Boot Animation Changer LITE. Download it from market, open, allow super-user permission, select Advanced Settings, select backup animation, close. Mount USB and place bootanimation in "BootanimStock" folder, it should then ask if you want overwrite, yes. Unmount USB, enter BAC app, advanced settings, restore stock animation. And that should do it. Remember ALLWAYS Backup!!!
lol I know it seems kinda counter intuitive but its the only way i could get the free app to work correctly.
**Note I haven't tried this bootanimation myself yet, so sorry if its the incorrect one
Just flashed mikes ics and i dont have any of the gapps icons in the menu
any help?
Re: APPS
Download this:
http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
Put it in root of your sd card,go to recovery and go to flash or install update.zip
choose that zip file and then reboot, and that is it.
If that doesn't work then unzip that file on pc and go to system/app copy all or just apk's you want to sd card and use astro file manager to install it....
Say thanks if works....

have you tried creating or signing accounts in account and sync settings.once you successfully log in. the app market icon will just appear. i had experience also like what you said.
Playing around with Layers, installed a SystemUI layer and rebooted the phone. Now getting SystemUI has stopped errors.
Yes, im amazing, I made a backup
Restored my backup, its still doing the same thing ((
I found some instructions to go into TWRP File Manager System>Vendors, delete SystemUI.apk, but there is nothing at all in my System folder.
I have also dirty flashe my ROM, same thing still happening.
Is there a way I can recover from this situation?

? HOW TO MANUALLY REMOVE LAYERS ?
? Use a root File Manager Navigate to system/ vendor/ overlays and delete the layers in the overlays folder.
? In TWRP In case of bootloop, go to Mounts in TWRP & check System then go to the Advanced tab & use the File Manager to delete Layers from system/vendor/overlays. For the 6p, 5x & N9 users, check Vendor in Mounts, then go to /vendor/overlays as the overlays folder is not in /system on those devices.
