For all Verizon MVNO customers (Page Plus, Straight Talk w/VZW sim, ROK Mobile w/VZW sim, etc)
are you able to get a data connection while you are talking on the phone? I ask this because we are unable to activate "Advanced Calling 1.0"
I'm on Verizon (not sure what MVNO is) and I was able to get "simultaneous data and voice" only after adding "advanced calling" feature to my number..
Check to see if you have enhanced LTE turned on under Cellular Network. I dont have MVNO but, I am on Verizon.

its turned on
I'm pretty sure the mvno through verizon don't get enhanced calling.
What is odd is that the 5x doesn't do simultaneous connections for me, but verizon branded phones like the m8 and the desire do
Do all you Verizon people have the cell network on Global or something else like LTE/CDMA?
Global while in US. GSM while travelling international . Been doing that for 3 years, I always get better service that way.

Looking at the LTE bands, it seems to have the main ones needed for Verizon service. I don't want to buy the CDMA version in case I need to switch in the near future.
No. Bands may be the same but the radios in the device are different.
Yeah the one I been using the past month only worked with GSM sims. I been using a T-Mobile sim
It does "work" for LTE and data. You will have issues with voice calls though since VOLTE is packaged as part of Verizon's Advanced calling. If you HAVE to use it, set up a google voice or SIP account to forward to your Verizon number. That being said, wait for the CDMA version to be available to have full functionality.
I have a Verizon LG V20 and am considering going with a data only plan and using google voice - is this viable? My understanding is that the VZ LG V20 cannot be unlocked, so I cannot use 3rd party SIMs for data - do I understand that correctly?
I really like the V20 and was told that the VS996 is dual SIM and can be unlocked. Looking for suggestions...

I am trying to understand your question and please correct me if I am wrong. Are you trying to use your Verizon branded phone on a GSM network like AT&T or TMobile? If so, your Verizon phone should be already unlocked to GSM networks. It is my understanding that most or all Verizon phones are GSM unlocked. You can insert a GSM SIM card and simply change the APN settings.

My understanding is that VZ phones are unlocked for use internationally but not in the US. I could be wrong. I suppose I could take it to an ATT store and ask to try a SIM.
My goal is to use the phone for data only and use 3rd party apps for voice (Google voice, my own VoIP system, etc).

I have the LG V20 US996 version of the phone and it is unlocked, came that way, and can use either an AT&T or Verizon sim. It recognizes on booting the particular sim that is in the phone and switches to "GLOBAL" settings and will work with either sim. I happened to be testing this out to see if my crappy Verizon data speeds I had been getting on a phone at work was the fault of the phone or the network. Turns out it is the network. Getting slightly more or less than 1Mb per sec speeds on Verizon and well over 6Mb on AT&T. Trying to run a laptop internet connection with a Verizon MIFI at those speeds and with the accompanying connection issues is darn near impossible.
As to the use of other 3rd party sims for data plans and using Google Voice, I could not say. I imagine it would all boil down to what bands the 3rd party companies use and if the US996 supports.
I have a SM-935 U device and have been using on the AT&T network. I recently switched to Verizon MVNO (US Mobile). The phone doesn't get registered on the Verizon network. I bought the unlocked S7 edge from best buy thinking that it will work on all carriers. Any help will be appreciated.
The SM-935U do work on all carriers. I have a SM-935V with U firmware on it. I'm with a Verizon MVNO named Total Wireless. Sounds like the phone you go from Best Buy is stilled registered under AT&T...
Not getting registered to Verizon network
When I check the IMEI of my phone against the Verizon compatibility check using their web site, it is fully compatible. The issue is that phone is not getting registered to the Verizon network. I think Verizon is blocking it some how and the MVNO is not able to help me to resolve this.
You ever figure out a solution out to this?

The LTE should work fine, but youll have to set the APN correctly, otherwise it wont get any data, for the CDMA portion youll have to submit the ESN to Verizon to add your ESN IMEI to their database.
How can I enable for MVNO (StraightTalk) with Verizon S8 G950U device, Advanced Calling (HD calling VoLTE/simultaneous use of mobile and voice data)?
Device is rooted with PartCyborgRom/SamPWND method mentioned by @still_mohawk, #355.
Would switching to ST sim for AT&T or T-Mobile fix?
I believe both carriers do not restrict simultaneous use of mobile and voice data?
Note: StraightTalk Wireless services can use either big 4 carrier network.
Any thoughts to enable dual use data/voice would be appreciated, thank you for any help you can share!

Yes but it won't work, at least not with wifi calling. I forced mine and I just stopped getting phonecalls lol.
You can try volte I think everyone has that activated if you don't already have it on. Use the app "shortcut master" and find the secret code that takes you to the settings app for it
I loaded Shortcut Master and found VoLTETestUI (com.test.LTEfunctionality) favorited and opened settings, turned ON N/W settings and when making a call the LTE stays on but the phone immediately hangs up. I changed the mode starting at 0-9 but none worked to maintian LTE connection. Is there an "HVoLTE test mode" setting that will work? Is there an APN setting that will keep LTE on during calls for mobile data/browsing?

CyberFem, any luck with this? I'm in the same boat. Tried shortcut master, got as deep as you did. Can't get VoLTE to work with my verizon s8 on total wireless (verizon mvno). TIA
No luck here.
With the Verizon MVNO called Red Pocket, my US Cellular US996.UCL can't use LTE (only CDMA and EVDO). After calling the MVNO and telling them the IMEI, they say that this IMEI isn't "certified" or "eligible" with its CDMA network.
Anyone know what's up with this?
