Remove gallery - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have two gallery apps one that came with cm12.1 and the other is from Capps (cyanogenmod apps). I'm trying to delete the one that came with cm12.1 but using titanium backup does not get rid of it. I have also tried CCleaner. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

I can't say anything about anything CM stuffs but I use this app to remove any unnecessary app, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumobile.manager.systemapp&hl=en

superclean vs stock questions

I have stock EB01, and have removed or frozen most of the apps that came stock, but kept touchwiz, calendar, calculator, vcast song id, media player, file browser, weather clock, gallery, clock, email, write and go, task manager, and opera.
if I go to a superclean rom, can I successfully add all these back in? will there be much of a point installing a superclean rom if I am just going to add these things back in? and last but not least, if I keep all these apps and touchwiz, is there any other "fat" I can trim from the stock rom?
I ask because some have said not all apps will install right from a clean rom?
You can root it the way it is now and use root explorer to copy the apk's from /system/app and paste then to your sd card and put them back when you install your new rom.
You can also use titanium backup to save the apps and data you want and restore them when you flash your new rom.

That will work if the ROM he is on is deodexed. If not, the apps won't play nice with a deodexed ROM.

like my post says, it's stock, de cluttered with titanium backup, nothing else.
how do I deodex it? what does this do?
titanium backup doesn't actually let me reinstall anything, not sure if it's titanium backup, or something else, but I'm starting to regret having payed for this stupid app, as it doesn't seem to work as advertised.
is there a better, free app that actually works?
Just to clarify, your phone IS rooted right? I can see Titanium not letting you uninstall stuff if it didn't have root access, but the first thing I did when I got the phone was root it so I have never tried to use it un-rooted.
if the phone wasn't rooted, how would I be running eb01? of coarse it's rooted. uninstalling isn't the issue, installing from backup is.

ok smartass... Then back up a few posts and realize that you did more than just root as you also had to install some rom to get EB01. What rom was it? Go to that source to make sure its deodexed.
If it is then you already have your answer in the first two replies.

My advice is to nandroid backup your current setup and then just try a superclean ROM with the apps that come with it, (maybe try a theme with custom apps as well,) then change out the things you still want to change (the list will shrink). If you don't like it or find you can't get an app to work that you need, just nandroid or flash back to your current setup.
SuperClean doesn't just remove stuff, it puts in better stuff in its place.

From what you are asking here I can tell you this... From SC2.8 you will be able to add back TouchWiz, Calendar, Media Player, Gallery, Email and Task Manager. There are a number of different clocks that are included, but I'm not sure which ones you specifically are looking for. Adrynaline has provided a number of "stock apps" that you can selectively download and install (I'm personally grateful that he included Daily Briefing). As of yet I have not seen any APK's for Write and Go. Also Opera is a separate install from the Market. It is not included in any stock distro from VZW or Samsung.
Just download Adrynaline's patches listed at the bottom of his latest SC2.x post. He has other things like Nuance and ThinkFree Office too.
Hope this helps.
Titanium backup installs the app when you restore it. I'm not sure what you mean by not working as advertised. Back-up an app that you got from the market place uninstall it. Go to the bottom of the app list in titanium it will show the app greyed out with a line through it. click the app hit restore and choose app and data. Its very simple.

right, that only works for market apps I can get back very easily. when it comes to an app I might need to restore to get back OS or phone functionality, or that I can't get from the market, the restore button is greyed out.
If the restore button is greyed out, you never backed up said application. Data maybe, but not app.
Hi. I'm a big fan of SuperClean. I'm currently running SC 2.8 Voodoo with EB16. My battery life is just OK. Adrynalyne recommends to downgrade the modem to DL09. However, I like to tether. I'm wondering if the DL09 modem has the Verizon monitoring in it or not. Thanks for your help. I would post directly on the developer form, but I don't have enough posts
I'm running superclean 2.9 nonvoodoo. Superclean uses less ram than stock. My battery is excellent running for about a day & a half with moderate use

Root Explorer - Uninstalling Apps

Hey all,
So I went ahead and uninstalled stock apps using Root Explorer All went well & I'm happy enough. Boot speed alone has went from several minutes to <1. Less processes running, more RAM etc, it's all good
Question - I have installed Titanium Backup and I notice after a backup that the stock apps I uninstalled are still mentioned in the log file with a line through their name. There must be traces of each app still remaining. I'm sure Titanium would have removed them cleanly, but using root explorer I only removed the .apk from the system/app directory. I take it this was the dirty way to uninstall? Which directories should I look for for a manual clear out?
I'm new to linux based systems, but I want to learn & I can't leave traces of old files lying around cuz I'll have nightmares
Thanks for any info,
Rixter
Actually when you remove with titantium backup most apps will also stay with just a line through them.
Could you add to this topic some of the apps you removed? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046699
Just did
Didn't have much to add but thought I would post my results anyway & advise against one of the earlier recommendations.
Cheers,
Rixter
I used setinstalllocation2 before rooting, then after root uninstalling some bloatware the stock android process list was still showing traces on my sd card.
After clearing caches using cache mate for root users all traces are gone.

Automatic restore from google not working

Okay, so after my previous thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1080251
I backed up my sms using SMS Backup+ and backed up my SD card. I wiped my phone clean, unlocked the bootloader flashed CM 7.0.3. Didn't like it much. Read somewhere NSCollab looked more like stock and I liked the stock UI.
So installed NSCollab and I liked it. So I setup my wifi and add my google account and expect it to restore my apps but it doesn't. Its been 8 hours now and I don't see any positive chances of apps being restored. Although I have appbrain, it requires me to go to each app individually and click on restore.
Restoring from .apk files I had backup using astro would make the apps not-linked to market, so I won't be notified of their updates (Or am I wrong?).
I missed a little detail here.. When I installed and booted CM 7.0.3, the market started restoring the apps but since I didn't like the UI, I switched off the wifi and flashed NSCollab interrupting the restoring process. But I don't think it would matter.
So the question is, is there any way to force restore my apps and settings from google's servers? Also, is it possible to install apps from .apk files and receive updates from the market?
I've noticed that sometimes I have to go to downloads in the app market and until I do the apps don't automatically restore themselves. Once I go to downloads they all start downloading.

[Q] Nexus 4 won't download specific apps - need help

I recently upgrade from CM10.1 to 10.2 (I have to say I forgot to flash 4.3 Gapps at first, and my phone was acting crazy until I realized what was going on), and when I went to reinstall all my apps, there are a few that won't. The apps that won't are ones that I've purchased, Beautiful Widgets Pro and Swiftkey, and Titanium Backup Pro are the big ones. The apps download fine, on WIFI or Mobile Data, but then when they begin installing an error code 'Uknown error code during application install: "-24"' pops up.
I have tried everything I can think of. I flashed new GAPPS, new roms, wiped the system, cache, and dalvik many times.
My phone actually let me download the Swiftkey Tablet App, and with the new Cloud Sync feature I guess it doesn't really matter.
However, using the free version of BW sucks, so any recommendations for another set of widgets is welcomed.
If it helps, when I went into the batch restore on Titanium Backup, the apps that wouldn't restore were on the bottom of the list with lines through them? I'm guessing this means Titanium ran into the same problem I did. But just in case I went into the Titanium Backup file on my file explorer and deleted the data it had for the apps that wouldn't install, and uninstalled it TB. Still nothing.
I have run out of ideas. If I need to run files using a computer, I have a Chromebook Pixel that I can dual boot into Ubuntu.
Thanks for looking, and for all help!
