I'm planning on using the stock front, back, and side screen protectors for my new Nexus 4 but have not seen many people doing the same. Is anyone using the stock protectors or is there harm doing so long-term? I am planning on using this with a the Exact Armour Case (sold on Amazon) too...
The front protector ist often not applied very well and has symbols für Volume an Power printed on it.
The back protector fits perfectly.
Iam only using them till they fall off^^ I dont think they will last very long.

Side protectors?

I'm using both of them... and I don't have problems with this protectors

Why would you want to use them? It's got Gorilla glass 2, so it's not like it's gonna get scratched easily. The only protection you could get is against hitting and the screen protectors can't help you there.
Pretty certain that there's no side protectors. I'm still using the stock protectors until my BSE ones arrive. Problem is they are designed to be removed easily, especially the back one, so it's actually already coming loose just because my hand grazes the removal tab.

Because it's been established that the glass still scratches easily, even though it's marketed as gorilla glass. Mine got 2 micro scratches before I decided to put a screen protector on - it's a common issue.
Gorilla Glass is quite resistant to scratches from the key or coins (in your pocket) but a simple grain of sand can make visible scratch on it! I used stock screen protectors but they started to come off after a week, so I bought Spigen Dual Ultra Crystal for my Nexy and I'm definitely satisfied with it.:victory:

Some of the phones were coming with protectors around the sides too, some weren't.
How is the friction of the finger to the screen then? Is it much worse than without using a protector?

using the stock screen protectors is probably the worst thing you can do. They're not really even screen protectors at all. They are much more flimsy and thinner then a screen protector and why would you want to keep them on when the front has the buttons printed on them and the back has the IMEI on it. If you want protection get the SGP dual protector.
I have a front and back screen protector. Should I use it naked? If it falls I'm screwed. Suggestions?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I'd say leave the back one on, as it seems to have scratched moderately on my naked one. Front still looks perfect. If you're worried about dropping then screen protectors won't do squat.
I'd say protect the back as well. The front is not so important as long as you don't regularly place your phone face down on the table.

get a bumper to the very least. elevate it so when its sitting on a surface, the glass isnt touching the surface
Personal preference. Do as you like

I've been through a couple of cases, the official and poetic bumpers and pouches and I feel the best way of enjoying the phone is to have both front and back screen protectors (the rear glass scratches very easily, it is not gorilla glass) and then use a pouch aswell.
The screen protectors protect it from scratches, a good pouch should protect it from falls, this is assuming you don't have butter fingers.
I use a Skinomi techskin (front + back) and a Shocksock pouch.
I ran mine for 2 weeks with nothing but the back protector. Scariest time of my life. Was so paranoid about using it. But I had no damage other than dust always getting on the screen.

Almost 2 months without any protectors and the front and back look as good as new, not a single scratch... Let's hope it stays like that *fingers crossed*...Although the chrome bezel does have some tiny scratches at the top probably from having it in my pocket...
I read a forum on android central last night and one guy had the bumper on his phone when he dropped it, and the fall still broke his screen, or back I don't remember which. He was pissed that the official lg bumper didn't work. I was going to buy one but I may not now. I have protectors on the front and back, they make the phone a lot less slippery too.

do whatever you like. i have front and back spigen sgp protectors on mine and i run naked all day, every day.
if something breaks well that's too bad but i guarantee you a bumper or tpu case isn't going to stop glass from breaking (as seen in a few other xda threads).
naked everyday. No screen protectors. Why cover this beautiful screen with some china plastic... Just be more careful with the phone.
This phone had been naked since the first week in December when I got it. No scratches or dings or anything. It's been great.

None whatsoever. I use the LG bumper and keep it in my pockets along with any change, keys, golf tees, etc.

Really Want to but scared of getting a horrible scratch that would both the hell out of me like those dust pieces in the screen protector
How about the back do you have one on it
I was the same as you. I took mine off a few weeks ago and I realized the screen doesn't easily scratch. I would recommend keeping a case though.. I couldn't imagine my phone without the case, I wouldn't break it in seconds

Have the bumper so yeah that will stay on and a dbrand skin on the back
I'm not using a screen protection. Got my N4 2 days after it was released (11/16/12 as far as I remember) and there is no scratch on the front glass. The back...well, it's not gorilla glass and you can see that on my phone. Got some small scratches there.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I don't use a screen protector on mine, although I sat it on the ground once at an outdoor basketball court to record my game. It flopped on its face and I got a very very small chip on the screen. I still prefer a naked screen over having a screen protector.
I don't have scratches. I used it for a month with no screen protector with no scratches at all, then decided it was time for a protector just in case. I also have an el'cheapo protector on the back to keep it nice and shiny and new.
My first N4, I had from November to April. I didn't have a screen protector on it, only had the bumper from February to April. No scratches on it. I RMA'd it and got a new one in May. I got a few light scratches on it a few days ago. I'm not using the bumper or a screen protector on this one. Maybe I should've. It looks nicer without anything on it, but you might get scratches. I don't know how they got there. It might've been when someone else was using my phone. I take good care of all my phones. If you go naked, eventually you'll get some light scratches.
The rolled edge of the glass was designed to be a pleasure to use as you swipe the screen. If you use a screen protector, you ruin that experience.
I've been using my phone without a case or screen protector on the front since I got the phone some months ago. Even from multiple trips to the ocean and being around sand, my screen is flawless. The glass is extremely scratch resistant.
I keep a screen protector on the back because that **** is not Gorilla Glass and it scratches easy.
Also, the oleophobic coating on my screen is completely gone now but oh well. I'm not obsessive compulsive about fingerprints.
I have a few very small ones and a huge horizontal one that goes almost to midway of the screen but they're not noticeable when screen is on. I knew they would eventually come so I don't really care anymore

mine is already 3 month old and NO SCRATCHES . I use dbrand for the back. I carry it in a pouch..
is it ok to put both nexus 4 and key?? my key scratched the screen protector several times

I have 3 big scratches on my screen. It is quite deep and oleophobic coating is wearing off quite bad :crying:
( If you see my scratches, i think you won't use it without protector  )

Had my N4 for 3 months naked. Been on the beach and not a single scratch in front and at the back. Screen still very smooth. Maybe im just too careful with my phone.
And put their own, or is the one the Op2 comes with good protection enough?
I took it off to replace with a spigen hd one. But it is a good one. Should have left it. Haha
Yeah I replaced mine with a glass one. The one on it is not to bad though. I just like glass protection and the feel.
Took it off today to replace with tempered glass, but it's OK protection for free.
Sent from my ONE A2003 using Tapatalk
Same as everyone else - I replaced it today after maybe 6-7 days and threw tempered glass on there. Smudge-free now.
Same. Replaced with tempered glass after a few days..prefer the feel and protection of tempered glass.

Well my uncle bough the opt for me, and I bought a tampered glass protector from OP for it, but my uncle says to use this one until it gets dirty then use the protector ;~; I can't argue since he bought me teh phone..

I have the tempered glass one for it from one plus but will wait a few days. Hard to believe it will be smudge free after I put it on. I was just concerned taking the free one off that it would leave some kind of residue.
It's a piece of cheap plastic which does no favors for either protection or screen clarity. Replace it with tempered glass, the difference is HUGE.

I have a pthink tempered protector coming, what's the best way to remove the original and replace with the tempered without dust and stuff getting underneath? Last time I tried I failed miserably and frisbeed the glass on into the wall
I just dislike screen protectors. Never had a problem with scratches on any phone in the past.
I ended up taking it off and put on tempered glass, I recommend it.

Which one did you install? Really smudge free?
Anyone installed the Non Glass screen protector from OnePlus ?
I have it and I'm wondering if it's better than the factory installed one.
I replaced mine with one of the Orzly tempered glass protectors, and it's WAY better than the stock. The stock one is fine, but it's a fingerprint/smudge magnet, and it's not as smooth as a glass protector. I've used Orzly protectors on all my devices and they're fantastic. The one I had on my 1+1 saved the screen after a drop in a parking lot. The protector took the impact and shattered instead of the screen.
Took off the free one in 24 hours. It was good except it was a fingerprint magnet. So many smudges. Happy with tempered glass.
I removed the stock, then applied the orzly tempered glass right after. Definite improvement!

The easy way of getting this explained is this. The phone comes with a thin layer that is OK at best. If you have a flip case then you might be happy with that but if your screen is going to be exposed then purchase a tempered glass 1. If your going to invest money in a device and it quite obvious that you will be looking at the screen a lot then protect it. Its not like it's gonna break the bank and you will never worry. ☺

I removed mine last week. Feels so much better and smoother, but I already have 1 tiny micro scratch near the ear piece. Barely noticeable but frustrating since I won't even lay the phone face down and baby it.

How did you manage to scratch it?
I took mine off to put the official 3d tempered glass screen protector on. I did not like that one, so now my phone is naked while I wait for a different one.
No scratches so far, and I've dropped it on tile a few times :fingers-crossed:

I have no clue. I bought the OnePlus tempered glass but it sucked so I took it off. I've ordered an orzley one, but I'm not sure when it'll be here.
I've ordered the Orzley tempered glass protector and have left the factory installed protector on until it arrives. The factory installed screen protector already has small scratches as it is a very low quality vynl protector. This will be the first device that I've had used tempered glass but I always use a screen protector having learned my lesson way back in the pre-gorilla days. I simply hate the inevitable tiny scratches plus I hold onto my devices longer than most people. E.g. I came to this OP5 from a Nexus 5. I've also bought a cheap gel case and am waiting for a dBrand skin.

Ear wacks?
I removed it... Tried the glass from OnePlus, but it sucked hard to be honest. It didn't fit at the edges... I'm hoping that since the phone has gorilla glass, it would not scratch so easily. The phone looks much better without the factory protector.
