None whatsoever. I use the LG bumper and keep it in my pockets along with any change, keys, golf tees, etc.

Really Want to but scared of getting a horrible scratch that would both the hell out of me like those dust pieces in the screen protector
How about the back do you have one on it
I was the same as you. I took mine off a few weeks ago and I realized the screen doesn't easily scratch. I would recommend keeping a case though.. I couldn't imagine my phone without the case, I wouldn't break it in seconds

Have the bumper so yeah that will stay on and a dbrand skin on the back
I'm not using a screen protection. Got my N4 2 days after it was released (11/16/12 as far as I remember) and there is no scratch on the front glass. The back...well, it's not gorilla glass and you can see that on my phone. Got some small scratches there.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I don't use a screen protector on mine, although I sat it on the ground once at an outdoor basketball court to record my game. It flopped on its face and I got a very very small chip on the screen. I still prefer a naked screen over having a screen protector.
I don't have scratches. I used it for a month with no screen protector with no scratches at all, then decided it was time for a protector just in case. I also have an el'cheapo protector on the back to keep it nice and shiny and new.
My first N4, I had from November to April. I didn't have a screen protector on it, only had the bumper from February to April. No scratches on it. I RMA'd it and got a new one in May. I got a few light scratches on it a few days ago. I'm not using the bumper or a screen protector on this one. Maybe I should've. It looks nicer without anything on it, but you might get scratches. I don't know how they got there. It might've been when someone else was using my phone. I take good care of all my phones. If you go naked, eventually you'll get some light scratches.
The rolled edge of the glass was designed to be a pleasure to use as you swipe the screen. If you use a screen protector, you ruin that experience.
I've been using my phone without a case or screen protector on the front since I got the phone some months ago. Even from multiple trips to the ocean and being around sand, my screen is flawless. The glass is extremely scratch resistant.
I keep a screen protector on the back because that **** is not Gorilla Glass and it scratches easy.
Also, the oleophobic coating on my screen is completely gone now but oh well. I'm not obsessive compulsive about fingerprints.
I have a few very small ones and a huge horizontal one that goes almost to midway of the screen but they're not noticeable when screen is on. I knew they would eventually come so I don't really care anymore

mine is already 3 month old and NO SCRATCHES . I use dbrand for the back. I carry it in a pouch..
is it ok to put both nexus 4 and key?? my key scratched the screen protector several times

I have 3 big scratches on my screen. It is quite deep and oleophobic coating is wearing off quite bad :crying:
( If you see my scratches, i think you won't use it without protector  )

Had my N4 for 3 months naked. Been on the beach and not a single scratch in front and at the back. Screen still very smooth. Maybe im just too careful with my phone.

I decided to remove the rubbery screen protector I've had on my phone since I got it. Love how easy it is to scroll without it. I do know the screen can get scratches but not sure how common it is. What kind of shape is your screen in if you are not using a screen protector?

I used to never put a screen protector on because I never drop my phone and take care of it.
I have a holster and never put it in my pocket and I never got a scratch on it. The screen does good on its own.
I put on a screen protector because it came free with a phantomskinz skin and kept it only because it like 100% eliminated the grease that comes from your finger and there's no need of having to wipe your phone every time you turn it on so I kept it.
I usually never use screen protectors and this phone does have a good scratch-resistant screen so just don't drop it or put it in your pocket with other stuff and you shouldn't have to worry about it scratching up ;p.
I have one VERY light scratch on the screen, you really wouldn't find it unless you were looking for it. Had my Vibrant since August. I tried applying the screen protector that came with my OtterBox, only to find that I still suck at applying them. So I've given up on them.
I gotta say i'm loving no screen protector. Hoping the Gorilla glass holds up til I get a new phone. Screen looks so much sharper with no protector as well.
I took it off too less than a week ago, all good so far and i second what you about how good the screen looks without the glass protector.

I kept one on my first vibrant but have not put one on my replacement. I've had it about a month and so far so good. Unless something really crappy happens I doubt the screen will get messed up before I replace it with a new phone.
I've had my Vibrant since August. Had a screen protector on it the first week. After that I never did and had no scratches at all until I bricked it in February. New one and same deal no screen protector and no scratches.

I've been very luck screen-wise. I've dropped the phone several times (including this morning), and the screen has no major scratches. This without any protector. I've heard mixed things about Gorilla Glass, but it definitely seems tough to me.
It does have burn-in. That's really its only flaw IMO. It puts my HD7's screen to shame in all aspects other than size.

Good to hear everyone. Looks like my phone will be fine not wearing protection. LOL.

My screen is clean and quite 'vibrant' since day one--never a screen protector since launch day. If you buy a $400 phone, you best keep good track of it and respect the fact that it is a $400 phone.
Never understood the need for cases and protectors--just treat the damn thing like it is worth and you will be fine.
bought mine in late august. Still no scratches... well ok one very tiny about as long as this _ thats faint. No protector and i keep it in my pocket with my wallet. Usually try to avoid putting my keys in the same pocket.
I'm won over on gorilla glass.
Got my Vibrant at launch in July and have never had a screen protector on it. I usually leave it in a lightly padded case when I'm not using it though sometimes I'll throw it in my back pocket by itself if I'm in a hurry. I've also managed to drop it face down onto a parking lot. That one made me cringe.
The best part? No scratches or other damage whatsoever. I'm pretty pleased with the resilience of the screen.

Take it to Tmobile and get a replacement before warranty runs out
I dropped mine down 2 flights of steps (it skid down the steps), and all I got was a bunch of very tiny scratches on the screen that can't be seen unless you actually look for them.
In normal lighting, you have to angle the phone to see it.
Any other phone would have a crap-ton of scratches (the phone also took a 6 foot drop when I first dropped it, before it skid), so yeah, I love gorilla glass. <3
I may get a replacement, but except for the screen scratches, my phone has no issues. GPS works, everything. I don't want to exchange this perfect phone for a phone with a good screen, but can't overclock, and has GPS problems. >.>
I think I'll just stick with it unless T-Mobile will give me something else.
when I had the Iphone I had screen protector all the time but since I switch to vibrant I never had to put screen protector on it and still looks like new
but keep in mind not to abuse it
I have a screen protector currently, but I'm thinking of taking it off.
What do you guys think? Are you folks using a screen protector?
I don't use screen protector because I want the best touch experience
I never used one on my DHD and I don't use one on my Note either.
I sure use one.
Recently I had a clean slice on my screen and I was worried that the cut might be deep enough to have gone through the screen protector and scratched my screen. So I took the protector off and thankfully the screen protector was enough to stop the scratch.
So it has it uses.
Putting a screen protector is a nightmare though because of dust particles, so whenever I want to put a screen protector on I view the screen under light at an angle to see if there is any dust particles on the screen. That way I can see even the "smallest" dust particle. So whenever I place a screen protector I take about 30 to 40 mins to put one on my Note. Also it's not like I change screen protector like a baby's dippers. The current one will be on there pretty much forever unless something like a scratch happens that will force me replace it. Otherwise it's pretty much a one time thing.
My screen protectors are very good quality ones.

I am using SGP Ultra Optics, touch is fine, just finger prints are still there.
I've had my Note for over six months without a screen protector, just a gel case, and not a mark on it. Whenever it's in a pocket it never shares space with anything else that might harm it such as coins or keys.
I didn't protect my ZTE Blade before it, my MDA Vario before that, or any other phone I've owned. I don't put protectors on the display of any of my several cameras, and none of those have suffered as a result either. The only device I've ever applied a screen protector to was my Palm Tungsten T3, and with the flip cover for that, that was probably the most unnecessary application of a protector to any device I've ever owned.
Never.
Hate them.
brought my first screen protector the other day, put it on and that night i was going for a run and my note fell out of my pocket and went across the road for 5 meters, screen protector saved my phone.
I used to but I don't anymore. My note fell any the screen broke so I had to get a new one. Now I don't use a screen protector but I use seidio gel protector. I like it better like this.
Zag is the best.

So you are saying you never have dust or sand particles in your pockets as those bastards are the ones scratching the screens. Keys or coins won't do it as they're softer than your phone's screen.
E: I am using a cheapo screen protector (7,99€ for two) and it does not affect the user experience at all.

I just took off my screen protector and now it feels really good.. Galaxy note's screen is one of its USP's and it needs to be felt raw not with a layer on it.

I have two small children and because of that I spend some time in sand boxes. That sand is the worst when comes to making tiny scratches. I bought a copter shield a couple of weeks after getting the note due to scratches starting to emerge. I also made a deeper scratch with the help of a zipper, (which is embarresing since im closely related to the inventor of the zipper ).
I do have the feeling that the "Note" is a bit more sensitive than other gorilla glass endowed phones. Maybe it has a coating that scratches more easily or something...
I'm actually using an extremeguard screen protector and i found it disturbing, swiping with the finger is not smooth anymore
Wondering if the screen protector is really needed, what do you guys think?
I depends how careful you are with your phone I guess. I've never had one on any of my phones and I've never had a scratch.
It depends on what you do with your phone. However, the Gorilla Glass 2 is quite hard. (Vicker's hardness test of 622 to 701)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorilla_Glass
See the Wikipedia article on Vicker's Test for a comparison to other materials.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vickers_hardness_test
Personally, I'm not a big fan of screen protectors because the screen protectors tend to scratch easier than the glass. Others disagree.

Depends how OCD you are about scratches. Contrary to popular belief, Gorilla Glass can scratch and with bad luck even the most careful user will still get a scratch. I don't really mind small scratches so I'm using mine without a protector right now. I'll probably give the Fantom glass protector a go when it comes out though.

I would hate scratches, totally. Also i'll probably sell it in the next two years, and scratches will decrease its value
No. They do nothing but look like s*it.
Not sure if you know this or not but it's safe to say that you'll need to wait atleast 72 hours after installing a quality screen protector to regain smooth swiping. It has to do with the oils in your fingers.
i dont use screen protectors because i find the installation process to be annoying. only scratch i ever gotten was from my nexus s.
Depends on how much you care about keeping your phone in pristine condition. I've owned the phone for about 3 weeks now. I've been very careful with it, yet I still have managed to get micro scratches on the back and front. They are barely noticeable, in fact I can only see them when under a bright light, but nevertheless they are still there. I don't plan on ever using a case or any type of protection.

I've taken off my screen protector... I'm going to enjoy my phone now, it's so much smoother and I love the curved glass.
If I get scratches oh well. My last phone had scratches but they're microscopic.
Last time I sold a phone on Craigslist the buyer didn't even care to see the microscrathces on the phone. I just sold it for 30 less than the going rate. He thought he got a great deal and that was that

Live by screen protectors, had a few scratches on previous phones and since then I have always used them as I can remove them (if they go bad) and replace them I know it doesnt effect resale value as much but I prefer it.
Bestskinsever are the best IMO and after applying my screen protector I would say it was the best application ever, no bubbles or anything apart from a little bit at the top right (not on the screen, non issue) looks like there isnt a protector on it for the most part, I actually like the feel of the BSE skins it it enhances grip and I dont need to worry about a bumper now to protect the glass while on a desk along with the fact I notice no real difference in using the touch screen (I prefer it to naked for some reason!).
Each to their own though, Gorilla glass will scratch and I know for a fact random bits of sand and stuff do find there way to me on some occasions so I would prefer to avoid it, for the most part GG is great though.
Every other phone I ever had I put a screen protector on cause they got minor scratches within the first few days just from being in my pocket. I ordered a cheap one on ebay for my N4 but it didn't even fit (too small) so I said screw it and left it naked. I've had it for about a month now and I haven't got a single scratch on it, mind you that I baby my phone... but honestly the glass is very scratch resistent IMO, as long as you don't set it face down on tables or keep it in your pocket with keys or change you should be fine

I usually put on a screen protector right away. Since Google decided to send me a replacement handset 3 weeks ago, I've been going without one knowing I'd get a new one anyways. I've had no scratches or marks at all since, even while keeping it in my pocket with my keys.
It's going to be tough for me to go back to using a screen protector since I've grown to love the feel of glass surface and how it doesn't smudge easily.

i´m just using a bumper and no screenprotector since i bought my nexus, and i have 0 scratches on the front glass
it´s gorilla glass, it´s quite resistant...
+1, the front glass is very durable. No visible scratches on mine either, although in my case I use a full leather pouch case that protects the front and back.
A few very thin but long scrathes in the front glass, after 2 weeks of use.
After using SGS for 2 years, I thought the gorilla glass would be almost invinsible, but apparently I was wrong.
I always use a good case but haven`t used a screenprotector in my life so far. No scratches on the screen.
I have a bunch of hairline scratches on mine... was careful with it at first but once I noticed the oleophobic starting to wear off I stopped caring. I plan on reapplying it with something better once I wears it off completely (I read about some pretty cool stuff on these boards a while back I plan on digging up). They don't bother me in the slightest or I'd have used a screen protector to begin with, but that ruins the feel of the screen if you ask me. Bottom line is there's nothing you can do about grit/sand, it'll get you sooner or later.
after two months of moderately heavy usage without screen protection i have 2 microscratches therefore i think itd kinda resistant
my back has a ton of micro scratches, but that's fine, I've been to scared to use the front without a screen protector, just not willing to risk it lol
The front glass is quite resistant to scratches. I have no screen protector on my current s3 and its constantly in and out of my jeans with no scratches what so ever. However I do refuse to put my phone in my pocket with anything else, such as keys, coins etc.
I baby my s3 and I will do the same with my nexus when I get it tomorrow. So i will put a protector on it, since it's a new phone.
I'm using Poetic bumper for about 3 months now and there hasn't been a single scratch yet on the back as well as front,
I don't have a screen protector on the front but got a dbrand on the back. I don't keep my phone and keys in the same pocket and don't use my phone when its covered with beach sand.
Its pretty easy to avoid scratches unless you are the type of person who thinks Corning makes bullet proof screens for phones.

Hi, I was wondering if any of you S4 users have any scratches on your screen? I have quite a lot and have had the phone for a month. I thought gorilla glass 3 would be tougher than GG2. My HTC One had less scratches and I had it for longer. My brother had the S4 and complained about the amount of scratches also.
I have also noticed a couple of scratches on the screen. I have had mine for just over a month.
lot of it is down to environment. No amount of careful use will help if there is lint / dust particles in your pocket. Those are invisible but those minute sand particles will scratch anything short of diamond.
My sis has lot of fine hairline scratches on the ONE's soft key area which is only thing exposed. Screen part was covered and as some screen protectors had issues with soft keys, she had cut bottom part of the screen protector and it has fine scratches there.
Unless you really make sure there is no lint or you live in area which does not have too much wind dust, it is not easy to keep the phone scratchless without screen protector and without babying it.
I have always said, put a screen protector on it. Nature is more unpredictable than our technology, and more harsh than what we think.
I have absolutely no scratches and I wouldn't exactly say I baby my phone either
