Sensors Broken after ROM Change - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i'm cross-posting this for visibility.
So, i'm completely lost. I was playing around with ROMs and mods (the RAM build.prop, for example), and now all my phone's sensors seem to be stuck.
I have reflashed back to completely stock ROM, taken official sprint update. Tried modded ROM, done factory resets, cleared/wiped everything, and still the issue persists.
It would appear my Gyroscope, Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor, and Compass are all not responding at all.
Right now i'm on rooted stock AOJ6.
Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe a corrupted sensor properties file or something similar like that? I'm completely at a loss.
Any help is appreciated.

Guys, it fixed itself. I booted into safe mode, restarted and all the sensors are working again.
I doubt it had anything to do with safe mode, as the sensors weren't working in safe mode.
I have no idea what could have done it. I wish I had a real answer for you.

GT-I9505 - Gyroscope, accelerometer and compass not working!

Since yesterday my phone's compass, gyroscope and accelerometer stopped working. That means that if I tilt my phone, it won't rotate the screen, and stuff like that. Rotate Screen option is ON, of course. On the GPS STATUS app, Pitch and Roll information are always zero and the compass' north is always pointing to the top of the device, it doesn't move.
Does anyone have any idea about this?
I bought it in amazon.com while I was in the US and brought it to Brazil. When I called Samsung-Brazil, they told they couldn't help as it was bought in the US. Then I called Samsung-US and they told me this model is not available in the US, so they can't help me. That's unbelievable.

You've tried the obvious right? A Factory reset.
Have you dialed *#0*# on your keypad and checked them in the sensor screen?

Yes, I did a factory reset, it didn't work.
Yes, I dialed *#0*# and on Sensors, Accelerometer, Proximity, Barometer, Gyroscope and Magnetic Sensor are not working! On every aspect, it says '0' (zero). Only temp-humid and lights sensor are working.
I updated it a few days ago.. could this update be responsible for this?

Could be yes.
I would use Odin to re-flash the firmware and hopefully that might sort it out.
Now the light sensor and thermohumid stopped working. Damn, what's going on? =/

Thanks for the reply. Unfortenately, it didn't work.
Now, my last hope is to flash it's original rom, I9505ZHUAMDE. If it doesn't work, then I'll have to go for technical support and pay for it.
Same problem
I also have this problem and I am on stock, unrooted MEA firmware I tried clearing the cache in stock recovery and it worked for a few hours but the sensors died again. I sent my phone back to the carrier for repair. Just sharing
I`m having the same problem here...
Has someone fixed this?
Flash diferent roms doesn`t work at all...
And I don`t want to pay for tech service. And I think it wasn`t the flashing that caused this...
Same problems occurs to my S4... and some others.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2362773&highlight=sensors
Tried flashing different ROMs, wiped data, cache and dalvik cache, tried rizanx way of fixing the problem - nothing helped
Has anyone resolved the bug/problem? Is somebody sure, that it is a software instead of a hardware problem?
Today all my sensors stopped working. Anyone solve the problem or do I have to send my galaxy for repair?
sensors working
Same problem but all my sensors show pass via *#0*# sensor checks. Tried nordic i9505 I9505XXUFNB9_I9505NEEFNB2_I9505XXUFNB9_HOME.tar 4.4.2, then SIngapore I9505XXUFNBE_I9505OLBFNB3_I9505XXUFNBE_HOME.tar 4.4.2. Screen rotation all fine when I flash firmware, root, then add flas CWM touch - everything good. Screen rotate works until the first reboot after all of this which might even be a day or 2 later. As soon as reboot phone, screen rotation dies and it is a huge pain in the arse. Sensors continue toi say pass via *#0*#. Every few days i have to re-flash firmware, re-root, then re-CWM touch, no need to factory reset just those 3 steps. Has anyone got any solutions for this yet?? :

If you want to work out whether it's a software issue or a hardware issue and you are not savy modifying or working within android the best way to work it out is to flash a stock unmodified rom from your phone provider through Odin 3.04. A word of caution - If you have updated to a bootloader and modem that is not currently supported by your phone provider (sometimes they are slow to update their version of the roms) then you will need to find a stock version of a Kit Kat rom in the forum.
You need to keep in mind that phone providers often customise their software based on regions, laws, network restrictions etc. so you may be missing settings and bloatware if you go with a generic stock rom.

Screen Rotate and Auto brightness issue after flashing lineage 14.1

Just as the title says, after flashing the bootstack, rom and gapps countless times, i still dont have auto rotate or auto brighness. all the sensors seem to be dead except for wifi, gps and mobile network. did anyone else experience this? how did you resolve it??? please help!!
I had the same problem after dirty flashing from 13.1. I did a factory reset and reflashed and all was well.

thanks for the reply. i did a clean flash. didnt work.
i flashed the boostack, rebooted back to recovery, flashed the rom and gapps, wiped cache and rebooted. it boots fine. but then i still dont have auto rotate. seems like the drivers werent installed or something
Obvious questions, but did you check the rotation settings inside the display menu? Also, is Adaptive brightness toggled on?

Check the md5 on your download to make sure it is not bad Install twrp 3.0.4.0 you could also move everything you want to keep to a sdcard so you can do a total wipe. Now install rom and gapps only and check to see how everything works before adding root or apps.

That's a drag. Thanks for the quick response though.
Hello, I also have an issue with the accelerometer (and by consequence the auto rotate function).
I am on full stock Nougat B09 (no root) and the issue was also present on B06.
Rebooting the device solve the issue, and factory reset does not make this bug disappear.
That being said, I think I located the root cause.
The magnetometer seems to be never working, even after a reboot. When an app wants to use the magnetometer (like Google map, or the compass), it make the accelerometer crash....
Anyone else having this issue ?
Does you magnetometer works flawlessly ?
Thanks.
@arachneon,
Hi, you can change it in the tools---compass, and in that compass you can waggle the phone in the way of "8", if all that cannot fixed you can also seek help in the nearby ZTE after sales service repair center. Thanks!

Proximity and light sensors are not working in my OP2

I am on OxygenOS 3.5.6. Few days ago my proximity sensor stopped working. The screen does not switch off automatically when I bring it near my ear during a call. Also it does not adjust the screen brightness in dim and bright light. I have to keep the automatic brightness adjustment off because if I turn it on, it just turns the brightness to lowest even in bright light in surroundings. I tried to check the values of the proximity and light sensors in some sensors diagnostics app, but the entry of proximity and light sensor does not show up at all as if these sensors are not even present in my device. I am sure I was able to see the values of these sensors when they were working fine. I have tried apps like AndroSensor, CPU-Z, Sensors test. What could be the reason. Thanks in advance
Have you dropped the phone recently and caused any damage? It's unlikely, as the oneplus 2 is fairly robust. I mean I'm currently using it with a cracked screen after it fell down a scaffold. And I think only reason screen cracked was a unlucky placed stone dead in the corner.
It might be a software issue? As the diagnostic apps say there isn't anything there. This is just a hunch. I'd suggest backing up your OS in TWRP or what ever you use. And doing a cache wipe.
If that fails maybe try flashing a random rom. And gaps. See if that fixes your problem at all? With out seeing the phone and playing with it there not a great deal I can do.
But try the above.

Actually I already did that. I had a nandroid backup of older version of OxygenOS where those sensors were working. I took nandroid backup of current OS and restored the older one. Still couldnt make those sensors work. I havent dropped my phone recently, the sensors stopped working just out of the blue.

Ah I see very odd.
Well I did some searching for you .
There's an xda thread that discusses it found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...overy-teamwin-recovery-project-3-0-0-t3310713 post #2. It comes down to flashing the persist image found in the recovery zip. Which I've only ever done once or twice so sorry I didn't immediately jump to it. In fastboot mode do:
Code:
Fastboot flash persist persist.Img
Its found in the recovery.zip I belive . I hope it helps.

Thanks for taking time to search that thread however the link you posted is broken. I guess you are referring to this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65367381&postcount=54
The above thread is for H2OS and the persist.Img mentioned in this thread is to roll back to lollipop. I am currently on MM OOS so I guess I cannot use those files.
The TWRP recovery for OP2 are available as .img files only and not as .zip as you can see here https://dl.twrp.me/oneplus2/. So just to make sure if that persist.img is available on recovery.zip, I downloaded the zip file of other device and checked but persist.img was not there. I also checked in the full rom zip of MM OOS and persist.img was not there too. So not sure from where to get that img now.
Also is there a way to make backup of my current persist.img in the device? Because I dont want to break my phone any further while experimenting with these flashings.
Hi, few months back i flashed h2os and flashed few custom roms. but later on i found that i had broke all my sensors even camera app doesnt work. No help from service center. pleaseeee help me
Hi, where i can find a Proximity and light sensors for the OP2?
I have one with custom Firmware. Bud the Sensor whont working anymore.
I have just clean it. But no effect

Flashlight is not working. Not even when using the camera

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone have this issue? Initially the light was intermittently working on the flashlight app but when using the camera was fine. Now the light totally doesn't work even on the camera mode, even if I set as forced flash, it won't work.
This is what I have done: -
(1) I tried a full system hard reset and tried without the installing any updates or applications and still It didn't work.
(2) Booted up in safe mode and tested the light, it does not work.
The phone is N910G and running on unrooted stock 6.0.1
Anything else I could try?
Thank you everyone.

Accelerometer Issue - Fix is to do factory recovery, but I am running TWRP and...

I just started having an accelerometer issue. Suddenly my device started vibrating and turning the flash light on and off. Turns out the accelerometer was triggering the flashlight gesture. It is also screwing up my ability to use my camera because it thinks my phone orientation keeps changing. The only fix that I have found online is to do a factory reset but I am running TWRP and Nougat flashable stock build from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/development/twrp-flashable-stock-builds-t3813351
I have tried flashing a backup I have from a couple months ago but that didn't help. Any advice on how to proceed is greatly appreciated. I do want to move up to Oreo but haven't taken the plunge yet because I need to research the issues with IMEI disappearing or something to that effect. I will do some research and maybe try to re-flash the Nougat stock build that I am running and see if that helps, after I backup all data.
Fixed it. Downloaded the build i was using and flashed it and it resolved the accelerometer issue.
