Hi,
For those who have problem with lag:
From Stweaks, change default gov to Lionheart, gpu gov to simple, I/O to fiops, disable android logger, enable zram, reboot.
These settings also give me great batt life

so i made the changes and it did make a big difference. i shut the phone down 2 hours after to charge it,, and thats when a odd thing happened.
its dead.
no life at all. even when its connected to my pc. if i plug the charger in it just gets hot.....thats it.
can i assume its bricked for some odd reason??

what happens if you pull the battery, plug it back in and try and reboot into recovery/download mode?

i did that + charger,and lead.
no responce and all. if i plug in the charger the top half of the phone gets quite hot in the main board area.
im sure some people come on hear with problems with out telling the full storey ( dropping it down the toilet,or just dropping it) but i literally shut it down to charge it quicker.
im still scratching my head over this.
if all else fails i may look into buying one with a smashed screen on ebay and replace the main board as my phone is in great condition,....gutted.

it does sound like a hardware issue - can you take it back to a samsung service center?

i could...... but it would cost much more than its worth.
iv had it from new, such a shame.

If you tried another working battery, tried connecting to a computer and cant get into Download Mode.... I say your phone is dead and it sounds like a hardware fault. I have seen soft bricked and hard bricked phones, they still show some form of life like the led turning on, pixel salad, black screen (as you can see the screen light up), white screen, cant get into recovery but can get into Download mode and etc.
Sounds like its dead but I am sure its got nothing to do with what you did and its just a coincident that it died.

Dead Screen, weird noises

My girlfriends EVO just died today. She couldn't turn it back on after it went to sleep and she heard some odd static type noises coming out of it. Backlight for the capacative buttons works, but the screen is dead. Won't even display anything if we attempt to boot into HBoot or Recovery. Sadly I wasn't there to hook it up to my computer and try to get a logcat or a screencast from Droid Explorer. She's having Sprint replace it. Anyone run into anything like this?
Stats on it:
New phone (less than a month old)
Running MIUI 1.9.23
No drops, no water, no nothing.
Did her battery die, as in super duper drained? Did you try a different battery, or removing the battery for 5 minutes, then then try to power it on?

Ye man sounds like a lemon phone. Unfortunately quality of work is down the ****ter. I would just take it back I wouldn't mention anything about it being rooted, though it shouldn't make any difference. I would also ask other users using the miui rom, and if they had issues with it..
I thought of that too, but doesn't seem battery related. Charging LED displays normally. Pulled the battery, let it charge, etc etc. 99% sure that something very random and possibly bizarre happened inside and the screen died as a result. I'm almost positive it's hardware related. Couldn't find any other posts online anywhere that described a similar situation.

Ok, so i just flashed back to froyo PD15IMG and the touchscreen works now, but the brightness is still not working, ive also noticed that every time i press the screen, it kinda fades a little... very weird... as u said before i think it may be a hardware problem..... any ideas of which part????
I believe that backlight is part of the display.

ok, so today i found more problems, rotate sensors are not working, compass is dead, and also the phone does not recognize any headset i plug in, i cant even listen to my music.... i remember that a week ago, i plugged my phone to a wall outlt with an iphone usb charger, do u think that has something to do with it???
thanks
Doubtful. Was it an Apple charger or a Brand X (off-brand)?
I seriously doubt that would cause a systematic failure of your hardware. If anything it would fry the usb/charging port, were there something seriously wrong with the charger.
Sounds like you've got a paperweight on your hands.

I have same problem with my phone.
The phone first had a problem when I left it in the sun for abt half an hour.
The brightness setting has no effect.
Auto rotate screen does not work, however touch screen works fine.
The phone hangs up now and then.
only the backlight does not work and i can easily use the phone inside a room
the compass does not work
tried factory resetting the phone no success
The charge light does not come on even when the phone is charging. however when i turn my phone off and charge it, the charge light comes on.
usually during startup or booting the device, the brightness is supposed to be full. however no brightness during boot up

Only fix i found so far for this problem was replacing the power flex plus the main flex of the phone.. that solved my problem...

good luck

sorry bro but its good bye for your phone...!
I am having a similar issue with a friends phone. He had a cracked screen so i replaced that. 2 weeks later he brought it back to me and the brightness is stuck on the lowest level. Changing the level in options has no effect. I was just wondering is the backlight and the LCD screen one and the same? Should i bother changing the LCD or is there something else I should try repairing first. Everything else on the phone seems to function properly...its just a pain to see it!

Got the same problem right now, trying to solve it. Was about to post new topic but saw yours. Can you boot your device into bootloader? Mine seems to be able to do that and I see everything but once it shows the Google logo during normal boot or recovery, the screen goes dark and blank.
Very mysterious indeed, never seen this issue before...
Hoping someone can shed some light on this...

Can you remind me of how you did it?
Cause vol up+power\vol down+power won't work for me
What screen have you bought?
Cause I was super anxious about getting original Hydis, now chungwa they now sell everywhere
at first, I would think that I somehow messed uo the cable - but if you are saying, that you are able to boot
mystery!
I guess, we need some experienced service man here

Vol down + power. Though upon further reassembly, it seemed to get worse. Now my screen won't even light up or show anything. Try shining a flashlight on the LCD panel. Do you see anything? If you do, it's likely a bad data cable. In which case, you should find one on eBay.
deltatux
It isn't working at all(
But I can't be 100% sure, cause I've so many change cycles
Buying things on ebay means +1 month of waiting, so I'd prefer to know exactly, will the new cable heal me tablet
Anyway, have you decided, what happened to your screen?

For me since I shone a light and there is something showing underneath and I know that the panel should work since I did see a Google logo and fastboot did properly show up before I reassembled it again 2 times before it completely disappeared, It's likely the data cable, so I repurchased a data cable from eBay.
Have you tried shining a light on to the LCD panel to see if you see anything? If not, it's likely a faulty LCD panel.

Galaxy S4 sudden died out

Hi, my Galaxy S4 suddenly died out while I was using it halfway. It was still charging (actually 100% already). The phone blackout and I couldnt turn it on.
Here's what I tried:
1) pull out battery and wait for a while then put it back and power on
Result: nothing happens
2) same as 1) but with another spare battery
Result: nothing happens
3) let it charge (to power socket) and waited for about 15 mins
Results: the top side of the phone was warm (beside the microSD slot) and I still cannot power on.
Is this phone useless already?

Hi mate
Sorry to hear what happen .
Question after you switched to phone on and waited maybe 1-2 min did you try to connect it to the pc, see if the system is alive if you have access to your files.....if so the phone is ok..but maybe the screen is dead or something is loose inside.

The idea is to find out if the problem is the phone or the display , if the pc recognices the phone it means that the phone works...no real need to acces your files
If it does not then your problem is in the electronics and not in the display......just an idea

mate ,
it looks like a hardware problem take it toSamsung if in warranty still or to a local service center...
I had a similar problem in the past and it ended up being my power button was malfunctioning. It was apparently just stuck in an off/on loop but not showing anything on screen....
Look like mainboard short circuit since top side of the phone got warm and also I assumed from op that display never show anything again.

My A1 "died" and i dont know why

Hello folks.
So I left my A1 charging at night, the alarm woke me up as usual in the morning. Just before leaving home I took it to check the time and then it was already "dead".
PS: The phone was never been knocked over, wet etc...
Symptoms:
- Black screen, as if was turned off / without battery;
- Buttons do not work;
- Doesn't react to any connections.
- Doesn't enters fastboot mod;
- It's not recognized by the computer;
- Also not charging.
Any help is welcome, best regards.
happened to me the other day on AEX, after flashing a kernel, turns out it does switch on but I had to press the power button for quite some time and then it switched off again upon minutes from switching on. I entered the recovery with the same method and installed another kernel, it works fine now

So, let me get this right, in ur case the phone was still working, u just had tu push the butoms for a little more time?
I tryed it here, power/Power + Vol Down/ Power + Vol Up/ Power + both vol down and up, all of them for more than a minute, nothing happened, not even a single vibration, sound or light. =[

It's a possibility, but it's strange the phone has like 4 months of use, never had any problem.
I'm willing to try some stuff first, even open the phone to unplug and replug the battery on the mb.
Otherwise at my country (Brazil) Xiaomi has no warranty
I had this problem and it was just due to an loose flex cable. Try opening and reattaching them :good:

No problem, just two screws att the bortom and use the nails around the edge. Be careful not to break the plastic frame around the screen, it can be quite weak.

So yesterday a oppened the phone, disatached the flats and atatched then again, unfortunatelly didn't help =[.
We also made some tests and seems like it could be an issue with the battery seems like it's not charging nor receiving any charge.
Seems like the "regulator" of the battery or something like that is not working as it should.
I'm gonna try to test this a in a more acurate way, at least to be sure that it's the battery.
Probably on EDL mode. Try reflashing stock with MiFlash. Helped me once.

You can try make edl usb cable first, if not work then search mi a1 test point, you'll need to jump 2 point on motherboard with wire/pin.

So yesterday i tryed to make the phone enter at the EDL mode, by jumping the 2 points on the motherboard. Unfortunately the computer didn't recognized the phone at all, i'v tryed several times.
I'm starting to think that something related to the the motherboard just died.
I'll lend it to a tecnical that can fix it or at least confirm the death of the phone to me.

Even with the battery disconnected and ubs at computer or charger, the phone still not giving any signal of life.
Does it mean that it must be a serious problem?

Hello mate.
I'm sry for you phone, at my case i'm starting to believe that the mb/cpu died.
I was thinking that it could be the board at the bottom (ubs, mic jac) but i have been told that it's really rare this to happen.
Yesterday i tested the battery and it's fully charged, (so the battery isn't the problem)
I'm weeling to take it at the end of the week into a tec who can test all the hardware stuff in order to know what actually have failed.
Have u also tryed to engage ur phone at EDL Mode?

Yep also tried shorting the test points, it does not respond to anything. Just totally dead.
Its sad cause i really loved that phone. I might buy a used cheap one with a broken screen and use its main board or other parts.
Thanks Knievel
