Hello,
I've a stock locked unrooted motog 2gen, yesterday I got a notification about a security update and now the phone is stuck in a bootloop.
I've tried wiping cache but I'm still in a bootloop.
Is there a way to copy/pull whatsapp backup from the stock recovery before trying a wipe/factory reset?

My Nexsus 4 was at 5.0.1 updated OTA, I rooted and installed recovery and created a nandriod backup on the internal SD card. The phone was working fine for the most part except it was having issues with the screen going black when making a call and would not come out of that state. I wanted to revert back prior backup so I did a nandriod restore with CWM v6.0.4.7 and now my phone is in a bootloop. I've tried wipe data/factory reset, also tried wipe cache partition, but still stuck in bootloop. I'm not sure what else I can do to get out of this bootloop state/ Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Fixed it by using Nexus Root Tool Kit to flash stock image. Not sure what happened but I'm switching to TWRP. First time using CWM and things didn't work out well for me using it.
I was running teamub 1/11 and today a update rolled out (1/19) that multiple users have confirmed is causing a boot loop. I tried dirty flashing back to 1/11 but got weird issues. Either boot loop, or OS would boot but would just be a black screen with my time/bars/etc but nothing else. System wipe clean flash to 1/11 got the phone up and working but super bummed about the lost data.
I backed the data up from the phone, and was wondering if it would be possible to restore that data over my current install?
any advice is appreciated, thank you!
Hi,
I have G935F, installed TWRP 3.0.0.0 and rooted, WITHOUT wiping. System boots correctly, but I cannot do factory reset or wipe with TWRP, because I got some messages like "Cannot mount Data" and "Failed crypto loader". I understand that it has to do with encryption. Can someone please enlight me, and give me tips about the issue?
Thank you

You have to download dm-verity and force encryption disabler from here , put it to SD card, reboot into TWRP, FORMAT DATA (not wipe) and flash that file (dm-verity and force encryption disabler). All your data will be erased.
No way to unencrypt without loosing you data for the moment(
"All your data will be erased" means that after boot I'll find a clean system installation (as factory reset)?
I hope not to be posing stupid questions, I'm completely new to this world
Thank you very much
Yes just as a factory reset

No, you cannot perform a backup, because your data is encrypted by default and the only way to disable it is to format your data.
I have a unique problem. I have a HTC Desire 612 from Verizon and I decided to revive it to playe PoGo. But it was stuck in a boot loop and I couldn't get any custom ROM.
Finally a gentle soul here gave me the stock rom and I flashed it vide TWRP and played PoGo for weeks. Then yesterday the phone bro led and when it came up it was stuck in a boot loop.
So I decided to flash the stock ROM again. But before that I tried to factory reset. I could go to TWRP, select wipe data, enter yes and the wiping was successful, then clear dalvic and cache and system beforehand finally I flashed the stock ROM.
Surprise surprise is NOTHING happens. The phone boots without the apps telling me they are installing. Then I get back the exact same data in my phone including my selected wallpaper and apps. Before I can do anything the phone restarts.
Point is wiping and restoring the stock ROM does NOTHING to the phone yet the processes are successful. Can somebody help?

Similar situation here. I run on my spice uno on stock Android with all security updates. Recently my device entered into boot loop when I restarted it.
Things I tried -
1. Wipe cache, restart
2. Factory reset, restart
I did these steps by entering into recovery mode with both sims and memory card attached.
Then I removed everything and again tried above steps.
At last I also tried, mount system, wipe cache, factory reset, restart (in sequence)
I don't want to root my device and loose ota updates.
Please suggest a way out.
Thanks in advance

Do full wipe and factory reset before restore your backup on twrp and reboot system
