IMEI not showing - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Had an issue while rooting and was able to get the device to boot, but now it wont display my imei.
Anyone know a fix?

I had this issue as well, but it happened to me while unrooted. Even my bootloader was locked. On every other phone i've owned, if your efs was corrupted like this, you could simply flash the factory images and it would fix it. I tried that with my device, it didn't help. you could try it, but I ended up having to RMA the device

[Q] D803 soft brick

So... After trying to flash a different modem believing it would get me better signal on a custom ROM, I got stuck in a bootloop. I restored my EFS backup as suggested, but that did nothing. Now my phone will not get past the dancing Google circles, and nor will it get recognized by my computer. How, at the very least, would I go about getting my computer to recognize it so I can put the proper files on my phone needed to fix it? I have some really important files on there, so a hard reset is not an option
Nevermind restored to stock

[Q] Soft Brick

Yesterday I noticed that there was no network service on the phone in my room and thought a reboot might solve the problem. I rebooted and it got stuck in the "Android is upgrading" screen. This is what I've tried so far:
-Factory resets
-Flashing a couple other ROMs I had in the SD Card
-Flashing Factory Images - The only factory image that booted was 4.2.2, but without IMEI or network connectivity. Any attempt to upgrade or flash a different factory image results in being stuck at the bootlogo.
-Using adb to do wipes and flash a custom ROM after flashing a factory image.
Any ideas on what I should do? I'm not sure if I can take it to warranty because even though it's only a few months old, I bought it from someone else on eBay, and the receipt is on that person's name. Any help or insight is very much appreciated. Thanks.
If flashing a factory image doens't solve the problem, it might be a hardware failure.
Try to send it back to LG/Google. The name on the receipt can be anybody.
Yeah I am having the same issue 3 days after my year mark, Google basically told me contact lg.

I have read other posts where anything newer than 4.2.2 will not boot if the imei is messed up.

Z Force Failed Authentication

So i love my z force but ever since yesterday I've been getting a failed verification message every time i start my phone. Its not causing any problems that I've noticed... Yet ... But i'm also a curious person so maybe someone here knows whats happened to my beloved phone, verizon and motorola surely don't know! I've even tried factory resets to no avail.... Anyways the message goes as stated.......
your device has failed verification and may not work properly.
to learn more go to motorola.com/unlockblootloader
i/d:N/A
your device will boot in 5 seconds
You usually get that message when one of your partitions goes for a security check and fails. I'm surprised your phone actually boots up, some phones simply stop you from booting if any partition fails sign check.
Did you flash anything or modify anything on your phone? It could be a bootloader/system mismatch, it could be a kernel issue... The only way to get rid of this message is flash a full stock ROM to make sure everything is at the right level.
I didn't flash anything or try changing anything with the system files on the phone I figured as much though that the only fix was to reload the ROM. Which isn't possible for me to do that is. correct? My other curiosity is since this did happen does this mean I have the ability to unlock phone? Or would it still be impossible because it is the xt1650-02 on Verizon. (P.s. sorry for my noobish question's) ?

Theoretically, you should be able to reload the ROM from scratch if a full ROM is available. I personally have never tried on a moto phone, but have done so on other brands/devices. Like LG and their KDZ files with LG Up, which factory resets the phone as well as reflashing everything to stock.
Verizon phones can't be unlocked. Hard to say why you suddenly have an affected partition... Maybe next update will fix it for you. Only time will tell...

After 7.1.2 update, no service, no SIM detected, no IMEI, no band base

Hi everyone,
Google messed up ! I received the OTA for the 7.1.2 uptdate last thursday. After it my phone was unable to detect my SIM card, my IMEI number disappeared, neither base band.
The first thing i've tried is to get a new SIM card, with no result, then I tried a soft reset, an hard reset (factory reset+wipe data), and wiping the cache without any positive result either. I've contacted Google, the phone was from Google Store and my 1 year warranty expired on 25/03/17 (the update was installed on 05/04/17, exactly two week later), they refused to take it back, nor RMA, a shame! I think it will be the last Google phone I buy!
I've tried to flash the full factory image of 7.1.1. but nothing positive from it. I think the OTA corrupted my EFS data files but no idea on how to fix it. The thing is when i'm going to the bootloader, under barcodes menu i still find an IMEI number.
I don't know what to do now, I'm little bit desperate, if anyone have an advice here.:crying::crying:
Thank you in advance.

Hello...
Unless you have a TWRP EFS backup, there's not much you can do...
I already saw some people saying that a restore from someone else EFS backup solved the problem and their proper IMEI, etc were back. I never had the issue, so I can't confirm it really works.
Now you need to find someone who can give it to you.
Otherwise you can RMA...
Good luck...
Is there any personal info in the efs backup? I would be happy to help but am not going to jeopardize privacy...

Hello...
Since his IMEI disappeared, there must be infos about it somewhere in the EFS. I don't know what else...
Cheers...

I think giving someone a copy of your efs partition essentially gives them the information needed to clone your phone, so it's not something you would want to do for a stranger.

Several people have been able to recover from this by wiping both the EFS partitions, but because your bootloader is locked (and USB debugging probably not enabled), I don't believe there is any way forward. See the link for the method used: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/fix-e...d-wifibluetooth-issues-restoring-twrp-backup/

Sprint GS7 - No WIFI and "CUSTOM" after last OTA update. KNOX 0x0.

Ok, so this is my wife's phone. After the last OTA update to QE1, she noticed that the WIFI would not turn on. I kinda ignored her for a couple of weeks until she really made a fuss of it. When I finally got around to it I also noticed that "CUSTOM" was present in the phone information area as well as upon bootup. I've searched XDA as well as other sites and tried everything I could think of but nothing has helped. I cannot mess with any WIFI settings because it will not turn on at all so I can't even access the menu. Neither Sprint nor Samsung will touch the phone because they claim I rooted it. I didn't. I have factory reset it numerous times with no luck. I have ODIN'd the software for a full reset and used all older software versions even. Following Sprint's own software updates, no luck. I have used the Samsung SmartSwitch program on the computer to also do a full reset to factory multiple times with no luck. The Samsung rep at the local Best Buy even tried it. The only thing that a full reset helps with is getting rid of the "CUSTOM" notification until you reboot the phone. It doesn't fix WIFI.
Has anyone had experience with this problem? I am getting ready to root it, but I'm not sure if that will even help. Additionally, the phone currently does not have Sprint service, I had to activate her old phone... So, I don't have access to the internet with the phone unless I reactivate it on an account... I looked at a root option, but it requires wifi...
I'm open to suggestions. Please help..
Ok, so no one has any input on how to fix my problem. Is it not possible with the locked bootloader?

After running odin with stock firmware, go into recovery and hard reset the device again . As far as Hard Bricking on Purpose, that would be fraud, something not allowed to be discussed here. Mods please lock this thread.
Thanks for the reply. Sorry about breaking the forum rules, I went ahead and edited my original posting. I've already tried odin with stock firmware and hard resetting the device numerous times with no luck... I'd like to be able to dig deeper into the phone but I'm guessing that won't be possible with the locked boot loader?
