i've just done the update, seems like there isn't any noticeable improvements for now, not until we upgrade to kitkat
Just noticed the update too, nothing noticeable except maybe some placebo smoothness, it seems much less jittery? At least it's a sign that Kitkat is near.
Also, notice how the screen shots have the Kitkat white battery.

Seems kit kat shouldn't be too far away given the Z1 and Z Ultra get the update then the Z/ZL/ZR so seems like there's some progress in getting Kitkat working and out to the public.
This app is still useless until it allows excluding folders and file types. QuickPic is 100x better.
Whether it's "useless" or not isn't really relevant to anything.

Annoys me as well...I would prefer the native album to be fully functional, rather than resort to a 3rd party app for a simple but important feature.

Actually I'm not testing it myself so no need to be happy for me, just wanted to notify the community that Sony should be on schedule to release early 2015.

I wonder how they'll deal with the built in default encryption of the file system with an update.. I imagine it'll take extra time to update while it encrypts the device?

When I updated my Nexus 5 to Lollipop it stayed unencrypted. I looked it up and as I understand it only new devices will have encryption forced on.

Early it's so big word, so that's can be February or March (its early too). [emoji6]
Good to see to get this updates, specialy the Z1.
I don't like the update policy of the hardware manufacturers (Samsung, LG and others). The android version is to much fragmented. And the updstes are important (security updates etc.).
I hope a stable, good working custom roms comes out next time. I would like to root the phone. I think to backup the drm keys, we can forgot in future (specially at the Lollipop [selinux]).

Pretty sure he means that he thinks the lollipop update will make it seem like a new phone. I know it certainly did on my old Nexus 5.
As the title says sony xperia z1 is the worst smartphone ever!!! It's the world's first SELF DAMAGING smart phone...sony says it's water resistant but it's not(when all flaps are closed firmly )..it's battery life is the worst of all...and also armed with random reboots and sudden deaths it confirmes that it's self damaging!!!!...also software of the phone is just crap..after all z1 is full of s**t...so do not buy!!!!!!

Not to be offencive dude i'm just tired with my z1 suddenly rebooting and dropping battery level to 0%...and it's freaking dead now!!!!
And u know what i ditched my note 3 for z1...i used to love this phone more than anything....but now i just hate it.....
I know, it happened to me as well. I was using my Z1, bought a 6 Plus and left my Z1 in the cupboard. Weeks later it was completely dead. Nothing could be done, but that doesn't mean the the entire lineup is bad. We're some of the unfortunate ones, that's it. No need to rant about it. Sorry if I was rude, I've seen countless threads like this and I'm pretty fed up.

i'm really sorry if i upset you man...but i spent 400$ on this phone and it's a pretty big deal to me(yep i'm not super rich)...that's why i posted it..i'm really upset about it..
I totally understand. Just post the entire issue from start to end and let people know exactly what happened and they'll be gald to help you out, including me. But that should go to the Q and A section. We'll try something to sort this out. Nothing is impossible

Thanks man...i really appreciate it...i already posted it on q & a section many times...but nothing solved the problem...now i'm looking forward to a new battery...hope it'd fix my phone...just love it for it's camera...
1 defective phone doesn't mean that all the Z1's are crap/s**t, I'm very happy with my Z1, I'm having 6+ hours of screen time on one complete day of use, Sony personalisation is very clean (not to much bloat like other brands), very good camera, in my case is water resistant for real, definitely my next phone will be a Z series (Z3/Z3+ because I can't pay for the Z5 at this moment).
I think you just have bad luck with your phone, sorry for that.

I always use FlashTool as i'm unlocked, thus i can't tell if Sideload would work (probably not).

Nothing official but many screen problems seem to have been fixed, also I see more spread out activity between cores and even though my unit didn't have any problems it actually feel "snappier" and more responsive than before but that could just be a "pseudo"-feel.
Downloading, hopefully it will take less then half a day to open camera or phone-app

Yep that's true.
Regarding the firmware, no groundbreaking news, but as there was a major version bump there must be many under-the-hood software fixes.

Use FlashTool. You don't need to wait till rollout in your country starts on Sony devices.
Well I'm suffering a bug with the "auto brightness" and some distorted colors. Maybe it is fixed in this update!

You should try to do some google searches then or even try youtube if you want someone showing you how to flash. Good thing bout the flashtool is that you can flash a unbranded one and its pretty easy.

Really disappointing at how slow these 2 apps open, camera s specifically
- Baseband was updated from 00012-04 to 00012-15
- regarding the auto brightness bug (with the colors), it's still here. (Am I the only one with this issue in a Z5C?)

Hi Everybody i have this amazing phone since yesterday and wow is so fast responsive the size is perfect im loving it
im now in android 8 i don't like the new version (my sister is running android 9 now)
I had an iphone 7 for almost a year but the screen is so small i decided to go bigger screen but i don't like the plus models (8 and 7) they are so big and a lot of frames and the newest ones are so expensive and i don't like the notch anyways
So this is refreshing and imessage is not huge in my country everybody uses whatsapp so nothing to lose

i have done in the past with all the androids i had and the roms i installed never were good enough so no way for now i will enjoy stock experience

Samsungs newer ui is so much better thN it used to be. I run mine on stock rom rooted just cause I like samsungs setup so much. But I'm on a note 10 now
