I only noticed the new LTE icon. BUT my battery life improved dramatically! Also it fixed a couple of the 5.1 bugs like lingering S Pen icon and Headphone icon but my edge notifications are still working.

Did it fix fingerprint lock?

It did not I noticed there is a tiny bit of lag when using the pattern unlock now too. It takes a half a second for the phone to unlock after entering the pattern. Overall though my phone is running smoother with near zero lag except when unlocking.

That sucks. Thanks! It's annoying I had to turn it off because it would randomly freeze and kick me back to the lockscreen after a few seconds of being frozen. Took me a while to figure out it was the fingerprint lock causing it. Note 4 also had the problem but according to them it was fixed on their last ota. My phone has been a nuisance since lollipop smh

facebook not working
After this update I have the same error that lte icon is not revolving, I believe it isn't connecting to the Spark network.
The other big problem is that my facebook app (official) was crashing, so I uninstalled it and when I try to install via Google Play it doesn't install giving me the -500 error.
I looked in the logcat and it has to do with the some permissions. This was an android bug in 5.0.1 but google fixed it, but with this OTA it has crept up again.

Would it be possible for someone to upload a flashable zip?

Update does fix the fingerprint bug. Working flawlessly since putting it back. Overall phone feels snappier like the day I first bought it. Also like that they got rid of the dreaded spinning spark icon plus signal on band 41 no longer displays just one bar and instead is showing 4-6 bars while inside home! Battery life also took some improvements from this ota.

It'll just be the same pattern after note 5 gets marshmallow. Their phones always work great with the original os it comes pre installed with till they update and it's a mess. Been like that since my S1. They lucky I'm a committed Samsung head although I'm tempted to test the Nexus 6p..

Anyone know anything about regaining root with this?

My Spark connection took a hit. I'm no longer doing 70+ mbps. When I run a speedtest the build up starts off slow and then picks up. B4 update it would fly straight to like 50 and keep increasing. Now I start of like at 10 and by the end reach around 30-40 mbps. I want a new update with new radios ?

Sprint has removed the Wal-Mart Spark icon in recent updates on other phones, in fact, they seem to be discontinuing the mention of Spark in general.

I hope others do not have this issue. Root Metrics is using the Note Edge to test the Sprint network and some results have been not favorable (others have been). Last thing they need is an update to make it worse!

I don't care about the little spark star. I'm talking about my speeds in general. Seems the radios in this update are not as great.. I like that the retarded star is gone and actually the way lte is being measured is better on band 41 then when we had the old icon. Before it would just sit at 1 bar but now I'm almost maxed out. Ps Spark is still a thing they just removed the icon because a lot of us hated it.

Build prerooted stock Rom
Can anybody know how to build pre-rooted for this ROM? I need help to build pre-rooted rom on windows OS but i only find tutorial to make pre-rooted rom for samsung on linux OS. Sorry for my english!

I noticed the icon change as well the other week. Overall, the phone seemed to run better, at least to me. I purchased the Nexus 6P last week and really love the phone, however, doesn't work well with my Gear S watch..........and I miss it. I'm thinking of reactivating my Note Edge......anybody want a new Nexus 6P, Frost, 128gb?

Care to share what monumental changes you were expecting? I see a lot of people disappointed by the update, but they don't voice what their expectations were.
You might do well to read the change log: http://developer.android.com/about/versions/kitkat.html. Obviously things like default SMS and translucent nav and status bars won't make it to the Nexus 7, but those weren't really big deal changes anyway. Bigger, useful changes happened under the hood. Lower system requirements and memory management improvements means 4.4 is lighter and leaner. Host Card Emulation means that things like Google Wallet are no longer reliant on a "secure element" in the device. The printing framework means any app can print any type of content using cloud printing, like Google Cloud Print. Immersive mode means nice changes for full screen apps.
Etc., etc. Just go take a look at that change log and come back and say that, "Absolutely nothing changed."
All updates will probably be like this from now on because they have to cater for five year old devices.

Well, except for the loss of the flash plug-in.
I love this update
+ 25% battery life: my previous 7. 5 hours average is now 9-10.
-Another change is the ability to get the translucent bars (with Nova launcher beta)
- I had 2-3 random reboot per week (now it happened only once in the last 3 weeks)
- touchscreen improvement : no more sticky and ghost touch (even if the multi touch issue is still there)
You can argue that it's more bugs fixes and optimization than a big upgrade, it's true. But it's a big improvement for this tablet according to me.

Uh. What? They dropped support for the Galaxy Nexus, which is only 2 years old at this point. Technically they would have supported it still if TI had updated their chipset drivers, but it is still hardly a 5 year old device. They only officially support the Nexus 4 (1 year old) and the Nexus 7 2012 (1 year and a bit old). If manufacturers like Samsung or HTC choose to support legacy devices, that's their thing, not Google. Google provides the source. Samsung, HTC, and Moto are only supporting their more recent lineups too.
Maybe do some research before you start spouting off on the Internet.

Are you for real? All you're essentially complaining about is the fact that there is no visual changes. The reason there aren't many visual changes is because they didn't include the Google Experience Launcher that debuted on the Nexus 5. I would direct you here for some perspective: http://www.randomphantasmagoria.com/can-we-all-just-shut-up-about-the-google-experience-launcher/
Also, people, translucent status bars are available on EVERY NEXUS DEVICE EXCEPT THE NEXUS 10 (due to graphics driver issues). The thing is, the app has to specifically request the translucent bar. The reason the translucent bars don't show up on the home screens is because the other Nexus devices don't include the Google Experience Launcher. The GEL requests translucent bars. The legacy launcher does not. If you want translucent status bars on the home screen, sideload the Google Experience Launcher. Done.

My favorite part of this update is the Immersion mode for Reading Ebooks & the new 4.4 default Email App.
I think kitkat is one of the most exciting releases since ice cream sandwich but most changes are indeed under the hood and not officially ready yet, like ART but kitkat is an awesome start for a new future for Android.

I can't comment on the VPN issues, but why is no SMS support on the NEXUS 7 TABLET a reason to dislike the update? It's a tablet. You have a data plan on it, not a talk and text plan. No tablets have SMS support out of the box. There are mods, etc. that you can use to get SMS support.

we are talking about the UPDATE.
4.3 -> SMS
4.4 -> NO SMS
That's the point. I lost something after the update.
When my phone battery dies I often use normal sms from the tablet (I've a girlfriend that doesn't have an internet plan because she studies in a foreign country)

Yup this update sucks.

- More battery life
- Less services running in the background
Yup horrible on this end.

I don't know about worst, but I wish I hadn't updated. Battery is not a big issue with me as I mainly use it at home where I can keep it charged. The printing option is nice but not something that I can't live without. I haven't noticed any increased speed. I am stock so my issues apply to non power users who just want a first rate tablet without having to mod it, which it was before the update:
1. Browsers doesn't automatically fit text to screen like 4.3 did. I now have to double tap.
2. There is a slight stick/lag in browser when scrolling. Before it was smooth as butter.
3. To prevent major lag/freeze, I've had to cut off location services.
4. Touchscreen is sometimes non responsive, particularly the app drawer button. I use Apex (to hide non used apps) but it doesn't seem to be Apex as it also happens with the stock launcher. The only way to get it working again is by clearing default.
5. Not major but I liked the blue status bar icons in 4.3 better than the white.
6. I liked the 4.3 email app better.
7. Loss of flash. I know flash is obsolete, but there are still many websites that still use it and I liked the option of using my preferred video player as opposed to being forced to HTML5.

I somewhat doubt it. My N7 LTE came with 4.3 and the "reduced" SMS function. It can receive SMS, same as in 4.4, but i had to install a SMS app to send them. Apart from testing i never used it to send SMS. It's a bloody tablet...

I had the opposite effect, sitting "idle" for 4 hours the battery is drained down to %20, google services was @ 74%, re-booting didn't solve it. Sitting idle with 4.3 it last 5 full days; lastly I really, really liked the way the Staus icon would be blue for secured network, and white for unsecured network, showed up/down too and would turn grayish when your connected but not repsonding....and the blue stood out just enough to catch your eye so that you could tell at a glance what is going on. I dumped KitCrap and went back to 4.3

Not sure if new threads needed couldn't find a post to on it. Anyways my camera on the rear seems fine in daylight buy when the light drops I get loads of lines flickering. This particularity happens when the device is connected to a wifi network. Try again while disconnected from a wifi network.
I also have this problem and changed the device the same day i got it. Same issue tough.

i got those once too. I was in my house and now that i think of it i was connected to wifi. Is it possible that they overlooked such a huge bug?
I have the same issues yes.. I think this is a big manufacturer bug when you are connected on WIFI.. not cool samsung, hope you can fix it with a software update but I think its hardware related..
I read this too late. I took the device back today and I'm now on my second note. I have literally just got in the door and connected to my wifi. Haven't tested it on wifi yet but there was no lines in town in dimmed light.
Another reason I took it back was because I kept having unresponsive power and home key buttons.
This was temperamental but still an issue.

I had the same issue with my ex note 3. I guess all of them are same. I was almost killing shop assistant while trying to get new one. You will see the same lines when you are reacording.
Solution
I added a simple tasker rule to disable wifi and mobile data while the camera app is running. I also mutes the dial tone volume to get rid of shutter sounds...
This phone needs some patching until rooting becomes possible without loosing warranty.
I am so pissed at Samsung. Their hardware team created perfection only to be ruined by the monkeys who make their software

I couldn't agree with you more.. Very disappointing that I spend a lot of money on a device i believe to be probably the best on the market for it to be ruined by something as simple as taking pictures.
But. . Touch wood.. This one hasn't produced the same lines... It did however lock up one on the day i got it requiring battery pull.
@JAMIE1000UK what's your new phone's software version? Mine's still MJ1 and I'm guarding it like gold, because with this I still have some chance of rooting, when I gather up the courage...
I'm running mj7 too. I'm pretty much the same. . Holding back on root.
Having said that. When I took out the phone I got phones4u care with it.
Meaning I get a direct replacement no quarrels within 21 days of purchase so shouldn't be a problem.

I took the device back as I use my camera every day. The bloke in the shop knew exactly what I was talking about before I'd even shown him the images.

Is battery life better with Chrome Beta?
I tried to side load the ota and it errors at package.zip. copied it over to twrp and when I try to flash it it says it's meant for a flounder while I have a volantis device. I unlocked the boot loader, used CFroot, and flashed twrp after using the factory images for the previous release.
IMO this the same as Q build but for folks like me and many others who could not install becase old recovey. I dont see many changes yet - browsing still drains like 1% every two minutes making this tablet piece of useless electronics.

I'm going to assume you haven't investigated what is causing your wakelocks. because that is abnormal drain time for any device. you are on lollipop, running old KitKat and donut software most likely . there are a number of free LP compatible wake lock analyzing options out there. solve your problems (in turn, help others with same issue), or consider going back to a pager.

Yeah I'm aware of such software and using it on my 1+1. However I wanted to at least try to use my Nexus 9 as "normal user" would do for the first time. Browsing still drains ridiculous amount of battery however I confirm that it is now much better on R build. And heating is much less.
Ps never owned a pager
any improvement on screen flicking?

I got tired of waiting for Google to issue a working OTA for those of us stuck on LRX21L so I flashed the LRX21R factory image. I'm very happy with it and am glad I took plunge. Noticeable improvements on smoothness. Device still gets hots at times but its improved IMO.
FYI.. I tried following googles instruction for flashing the image. It didn't work.. It crapped out on the SYSTEM.IMG.
Manually flashing each of the IMG files went fine though and all is now working great.
Lastly,
I'd like to point out the the device restore feature worked much better than I had hoped. It even managed to keep app data settings on a couple of apps (that don't have sign in accounts).
Does Google Now from lock screen work for you after some time?

Did. It works with black screen, lockscreen, homescreen, within apps, everywhere. You have it turned on in GNow settings?
Got the R update today. Seems good so far. :good:

[Q] Any launch day Note 3's running Lollipop? Issues?

Awesome to hear, any loss of signal? Can you tell me what you did to upgrade?
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
Signal is just as good as JB if not better for me. And to update I just odin stock 4.4.2 NC4 from sammobile then re root and update safestrap to 3.75. And if you need anymore help all the videos you need are on this page https://www.youtube.com/user/SurgRisesUrg?app=desktop

I have 2 day one note 3's. One was on JB rooted, mine on NC4 safestrapped. My signal was pretty bad, but my wife's was fine on JB. updated both to jasmine stock 5.0.1 rooted and her signal is just as good as it ever was, but mine improved IMMENSELY after the update. I have better signal, and 3g/4G handout is much smoother.
Awesome guys, thanks for the info. Looks like I need to upgrade...

success
Upgraded just fine, all is good so far. Thanks for the input guys!
I found 1 issue. May just be me since I use the VZW Note 3 on T-Mobile. When I'm talking to an automated system and it wants me to press a button, it will not recognize it if my speaker phone is on. If speaker phone is off, it works fine.
No direct access to microSD under Lollypop
Still no access to apps and games, no way to move photos and music onto microSD without connecting to PC.
Launch day Note 3 here. Upgraded from NK1 then did a factory reset. No obvious issues until the first week in. Phone is noticeably snappier.
1. Samsung keyboard occasionally force closes. Once a week roughly, and I restart my phone every 48 hours.
2. Google play services random force closes-rare.
3. This has only happened once, but YouTube displayed all green while the audio was normal. Both in landscape and portrait mode. During this time, Netflix wouldn't play anything. Samsung Video player would crash as would VLC. A reboot fixed this..
4. The phone seems to switch to 3g at around -110DB now instead of -120. Cool story! This means instead of 1 bar of LTE at work I get 3g. Great. I get a weak signal outside my office building anyway, so no surprise but..
I ran Lollipop for a few weeks then went back to 4.4.4 because of these bugs...and the HIDEOUS orange in the messages app. Yes, I know I could've used another SMS app. I'll go back to Lollipop if/when they straighten this out in the next build (which the note 3 may very well not see for months)

Good Lock pushed to phone

So yesterday the Good Lock app randomly auto pushed to my phone from the Galaxy app store.
Has anyone else had this happen?
It also replaced the system ui. I was able to open the app and uninstall it, but I get a notification about twice a day saying I have an app to update. Every time the notification is for Good Lock.
Is Samsung forcing it on its users now?
Also is anyone using it ? Does it still negatively effect the battery? Does it remove the theme sort from the phone as well?
Thanks!
Happened to me too. I also uninstalled it, couldn't achieve a look that I like. You can disable the notification from the Galaxy Apps settings menu

I like it, it's cool imo. The multitask screen looks better.
Hmmm...
At first, I was angry it auto updated/Installed. It.changed everything I was used to. I HATED it!
Then I played around with it a bit, and I can now see some useful features in it. Mostly the lockscreen widgets and the Routines. I'm not a fan of the notification shortcuts though.
Im going to give it a few days to sink in. If I don't miss the old layouts, then I'll keep it.
Just REALLY wish theyd update the autocorrect though. I had to retype many words in this message!

Still seems strange to just push it on users have not heard them doing that on any other devices so far. Makes me wonder if it will be the stock setup on Android 7.1 for Samsung.

I think I saw on Sammobile that the Nougat ROM being tested for the S7 has it. I'll see if I can find it.
EDIT:
http://www.sammobile.com/2016/09/22...y-s7-to-bring-grace-ux-and-improved-features/
I've used good lock mostly on my s6 and a bit while I used the s7edge as a loaner. I actually think I prefer the grace ux on the note to good lock these days but good lock has a lot of features and is always adding user requested features.

I just checked out the reviews for good lock this isnt an isolated incident. People are really mad, complain their phone now has "girly colors" and threatening to go back to iOS if they don't add the ability to change colors (which you've always been able to do)
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N930A using Tapatalk
Yeah I tried good lock and it was okay but I couldn't stand the hideous colors in notifications, and it just seemed way too busy. I only used it because I missed KitKat style lock screen music album art, but I found out Samsung music still has an acceptable form of it and I'm satisfied with it.

It's not easily noticeable though. There isnt a very noticeable "colors" section.
I think that's confusing people.

Took me awhile to figure out how to change colors, buried in the routines menu. And because I use a them already, was even more fun trying to get them to match. I did try it for a few days, but went back to the regular lock screens. Also didn't seem to work real well with AoD.

been using on my 2 phones for months; i prefer the stock Android UI look as well as the ability to "keep" some of my notifications so i can follow up later. the latest version allows you to further customize the colors (not just dragging the polygons from left to right or vice-versa). takes (me a) little effort to get it like i want it, but i can then backup and restore when necessary. --- i'm a keep it simple/basic user so the less stuff, the better (for me).
also, @nuclearrage, what issues were you having with AoD? GoodLock and AoD are working fine on my devices.
