When using Chrome to view a page with white text on a black background, white lines appear under the scroll bar on the right of the screen. They track with the text as I scroll up and down. I also notice them on white background/black text, but it is harder to see.
Is this normal from Chrome/AMOLED screens or is there a hardware issue with my phone?
I'm unable to post a screenshot due to low post count.
I think it's Chrome. My Nexus 6 did it too. I see it only with Chrome.
It's a chrome issue.. I see it as well on my nexus 5x. However it does not do it on the chrome beta version

Glad to hear it. Thanks!
The Chrome for Android team at Google is lazy as hell. How they didn't notice this bug before releasing the app to a billion phones I have no idea. I don't really like a lot of the things Apple does, but they would never let something so amateur happen.
I noticed this issue as well. I also had it on my Nexus 6. The thread at Android Central has some pretty good pictures of it happening: http://forums.androidcentral.com/nexus-6p/602151-nexus-6p-chrome-glitched-pixels-right-side-screen.html

I've noticed that when making a slow even scroll through any app the movement is kind of jittery/stuttery - kind of like a very rapid screen flicker (but different to the screen issues posted elsewhere as the brightness setting is not a factor). It doesn't happen on any of my other devices. Don't think it's a processor issue as games/videos are flawless. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?
On a side note, white backgrounds seem very yellow (see attachment) - especially compared to my OG transformer. It's not a massive issue and i appreciate this is a budget tablet - just wondering whether this is normal or if it's a fault.
thanks.
I'm seeing some stuttering on Google+ that I really notice.

I notice this stutter in chrome all the time. Very frustrating.
I get stutter swiping from image to image in QuickPic, some microstuttering in Google+ in the What's Hot section.
Maybe some apps aren't GPU accelerated and the CPU is a bit on the poor side to handle it?

Have you also noticed that the yellow background is easier on the eyes? It was done on purpose, because this was built primarily as a kindle fire competitor..
As far as the scroll stutter, its Chrome. Try Opera or Dolphin and check back with us. It does the same on mine. Dolphin, Boat, and Opera are better browsers. Try them all out, I think you'll find happiness with one of those!

I also notice it less in the Dolphin HD or Dolphin Mini browser.

I have a lot of stutter in google play store, chrome and some time in games as well. It happened in dead trigger. plus when am not running any apps in the background and i go to settings, battery i see lot of stuff there like google play, chrome, dolphin browser, picspeed wallpapers and many other stuff as well. and the cracking sound that it makes on my right side of the screen. I opened the back and tightened the screw still no luck still makes noise. i can only think that the back case is making the cracking sound. Plus my jelly bean is not butter smooth like most video i have seen. I was thinking of exchanging it but am thinking if i do that i might get a even worse one. Google really need to give another update soon that fixes some of these problems

As i said, it's not specific to any particular app, it happens whether in maps, browser, menus etc. unfortunately.
Tried hw overlays; no joy i'm afraid.
This happens everywhere during any slow touchscreen movement because of a crappy touchscreen controller and crappy filtering algorithms. The app is just scrolling to wherever the touchscreen tells it to (which is to random points around your finger tip several times a second) and this makes it look like it's jumping up and down or microstuttering.
Ever since updating to 4.2, I have these grey artifacts on grey backgrounds when dialog boxes appear... such as the one attached in my pic......
Not sure why more people are not bringing this issue up, but anyone heard of anything like this, or can confirm to experience this?
Anyone?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34335085
I'm pretty sure one of the Google graphics artists screwed up on it.

Can't even tell what were looking at?
Where is the issue? Am I being blind?!
I have the same issue.. panicked for a moment but then realized its only in the boxes -.-

@ OP
Yes, this is the MOST annoying issue with the 4.2 update
How do you screw THAT up? Seriously, I can see minor artifacts in all gradients now, and the Grays are absolutely horrendous. Pisses me off to no end
Can you guys please reply to my issue I've posted and spread the word as much as you can? We're no devs, but the best we can do is to raise awareness, because this is an issue that is unacceptable in final build stable software across multiple devices.

Are you seeing this just in the settings dialog? Like, if you look at a pure grey background do you notice it? I see it in the settings dialog, but not anywhere else.

Anywhere you can select an option (dialog box)... ringtones, notifications, wallpapers, even changing volume shows a piece of discoloration..... increase brightness to see more discoloration.
I may be blind, but I'm totally not seeing what you are describing.
LOL!!, it looks like someone used an erase tool on an overlay on that asset then saved it (possbily accidently). it doesn't look like an artifact or anything like reported its actually part of the background asset HOWEVER i had never noticed till this post and now it annoys me :\
Thanks OP :\
Sorry man... but you would have noticed it sooner or later... help me fix it by spreading the word, sharing the Google issue!

i believe he is the UI development guy
his twitter -> https://twitter.com/romainguy
This is really great news... I just tweeted him on an ETA... I've seen bugs in Android, but this is one that you just can't ignore and should not even accept with how much we spend on our devices, and its plaguing my Nexus 4 & 7...
I have noticed this problem from the first day on the settings screens, there is a gradient from black to grey. And this was not this way in previous versions. If it is fixed by an update it would be great.
Damn! Ignorance is bliss, never noticed until you called attention to it. Now I cant stop noticing it.
He is the Android framework guy, I don't know how many times I have cursed his name during the work on my app.
Good eyes.

So as you guys may know the screen gets throttled no matter what. But if you go on aokp the throttling isn't there so does anyone know what makes it happen and if we can stop it on touchwiz.

Im stupid..what does throttle do?
Maybe I have it and don't even know it.
Everyone does its easily visible when the brightness is low and you're on chrome or anything for that matter even YouTube. If you bring the keyboard up you can see a color shift I'm the browser and if you are playing a YouTube video through the app you can see a color shift when you press on the screen while a video is being played. It's quite annoying but clearly a touchwiz thing. You can't even turn it off.

The color shifts a lot depending on what you're doing.

thanks for educating me here....
I just don't see this, could it be I am old and wear glasses
Settings > My device > Display > Auto adjust screen tone. Does unchecking that fix it for you?
No it doesn't. It's integrated in touch wiz
I tried to duplicate and don't see it either--I am old--
I do have tone unchecked though
its dynamicaly adjusting to help you get the best view, i dint mind it at all haha
Actually, I just started noticing this with certain downloaded keyboards as well. I don't remember it happening with the stock keyboard, but I REALLY notice it while using Kii Keyboard in certain apps, but only darkly-themed apps. It's less noticeable with bright backgrounds.
I noticed the text size is uneven on forums while I am using chrome on nexus 4. The AOSP browser doesn't have the same problem, nor does chrome on my nexus 7.2.
Chrome is downloaded from google play.
Does anyone know what causes it or how I can fix it?
I noticed this as well, I've searched online but haven't been able to find a solution. Hopefully Google fixes it one day cause it's been a problem for a long time now.

It's pretty much been an issue since Chrome came out for Android (and yes, I've seen it mostly on phones).
Annoys the heck out of me, and I did submit feedback about it but heard nothing

I guess this is a feature, not a bug It's supposed to zoom only the main content part of a page to save you from zooming in manually. Obviously it's not always accurate.
