I'm going to be switching here from Sprint to Verizon, and was looking at going the Straight Talk route. My question is, has anyone successfully activated their 6P through Straight Talk (Verizon) yet and what are the steps to do so? Surprisingly, I can't seem to find much information relating to activating unlocked phones on Straight Talk; this includes the Nexus 6. I have a few other Verizon phones, including a S4, so I can do a SIM swap if needed.
From what information I've gathered, it seems like using Straight Talk is kind of a crapshoot and that their customer service is next to useless. Does anyone have any insight to provide regarding Straight Talk in general?

So my question is quite simple, and before I get flamed, yes I have tried searching. I don't think I'm typing the correct sequence of words if there is already something on this. I never post obviously, I normally creep and derive my answers that way. Obvious again that I've been here since 2012
My question is if there is a way / guide to overwrite/reprogram the phone with the AT&T firmware and software and replace the Verizon that is currently on the device. I brought the phone over from Verizon to AT&T and there are just a couple complications that are just a bother and Just over it.
I would appreciate any guidance and information any of you could provide on the subject.

I don't know if you can from a user stand point but when I was shopping around t-mobile store told me they would copy their firmware onto the phone so I could try their network. You may need to go to a store and talk to someone.
Since Verizon is CDMA and AT&T is GSM, I am not sure a simple firmware update is all that is needed to switch.

That's what I thought but they insisted they could do it. Maybe since there is a Sim slot it's easier on the the 3's.
Years ago you could almost swap sim cards and be good. Idk about it anymore. I think you would have to take all the system files/partitions and the radio and swap them for the carriers. Im sure someone else whos more, but i think it would be unreasonably hard to do.

This thread is moving to T-Mobile, but the concept is the same for AT&T

i believe that some services would work as the phone has some radios in it for the att bands, but you would be better off trading for an att version. swappa has stuff like that all the time to straight trade
Getting service to work and getting 4Glte was no issue. That just required me to manually input APNs that were AT&T specific and presto I have service and all that jazz. My issue is a couple of other small things that really aren't big hut just thst, annoying. That's why I was seeing about the software and firmware being flashed into the device.
Is it possible to put an s5 on another carrier? Such as straight talk.
Apologies if this is the incorrect place to post this I'm pretty inexperienced with forums in general
That is what I'm doing.

I know for a FACT that you can put it on PagePlus. As I had PagePlus as my carrier before I switched back to VZW. When I was researching what other carriers that I'd be able to use, Straight Talk and T-Mobile and, i believe AT&T(?) were the one's I was going to switch to. Don't know for sure AT&T but through my phone conversations with the carrier's and Google'n, i could use Straight Talk and T-Mobile as my mobile carrier. Just Google T-Mobile and Straight Talk. Their website has the information about bringing in your own device....
Another thing to be aware of is the bands that are enabled in your Verizon S5. While you may be able to use a carrier, you might not be able to get LTE data in some areas, for example, because of the bands enabled on the phone.
That may be true. Just check with the carrier as far as what their service areas are. I know that PagePlus uses Verizon towers and you're receiving the Verizon signal. They, PagePlus, had bought a tier of their(Verizon) towers to provide for their Network. Again just do some research and you'll find the best answer for your needs

I had a Motorola X (Developer Edition) that I've used on multiple carriers. It was very easy to switch it from Verizon Wireless to Straight Talk. All you have to do is put the correct SIM Card in from the CDMA section of the kit that you get from Straight Talk out at Walmart. One thing you might want to do though. If you buy the kit from Walmart, make sure to scan your phone at the Straight Talk display to make sure that your phone would be compatible with them. More than likely the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 would be compatible with Straight Talk, but doing this will remove any doubt. If you're ordering this online, go onto Straight Talk's web site (support section) and do a live chat with them. You'll need to tell them what kind of phone you want to bring over to Straight Talk and then give them the IMEI of the phone. They can also get you an answer quickly on this.

I posted this yesterday in the ask all thread sticky on the front page with no response. I'm in the US and just got my us version 64gb OP2. At&t has the best coverage and 4g lte at my home so Im leaving my carrier. I will be going to gophone leaving Boost. After i grab a gophone sim can i do the hookup online without issues like boost and verizon made easy for me in the past. Also can gophone port my number over. Going to boost or verizon they each allow number porting through online install. Just fill in the blanks and plug and play. Can i expect this on at&t gophone plan. My phone is still waiting happily asleep in the box. I know 2015 guys seemed to have issues with any LTE without changes. Just need some guys who did the hookup this year on OP2 to chime in. Not sure if the 2015 issues with OnePlus have been resolved since it is a popular unlocked phone.
Ok, I hope this isn't a totally stupid question, but here goes. My trusty old Galaxy S Blaze is, well, getting old, and I've decided after much research that I want a Galaxy S5. I'm also thinking to switch my carrier from Tmobile to Straight Talk, but would like to piggyback off the Verizon network as I've heard many good things about them. Tmobile is driving me nuts with dropped calls, coverage that sucks, etc.
Soooo....
Part One: can I use my Blaze's sim card in an new unlocked Verizon S5 that I may buy through ebay?
Part Two: Can I then take said new phone and hook up with Straight Talk? I'm just unsure because of the whole GSM/CDMA thing.
Thank you in advance!

I fear posting a thread to sites like this, because this technology is just outside my level of experience. I've attempted to root one phone before, and that was a success. I tried to search for a similar thread, but haven't seen it.
I bought a Sprint S8+, but when I got married, my wife had a Verizon plan, and I moved over to it. My preference is to stay on the Verizon plan, but I want to have an image that is better designed for it - in particular, I want to make sure that I am able to use ANY features that the Sprint phone isn't letting me. So, I have a few questions, and I'm not looking for all the answers, but even just some direction would be wonderfully appreciated.
Assumptions:
Samsung S8+ SM-G955U unless otherwise stated
G955USQU8DTI3, Android 9 unless otherwise stated
Sec Patch Sept 1, 2020 unless N/A
I would like to flash the latest Verizon image onto my Sprint phone. Since Verizon doesn't use the same type of network (and now let's throw in the T-Mobile joy-ride) does that complicate things further?
1) Can a phone safely be flashed/rooted to have a different company's image on it as long as it is the same model. (Bonus question: Are there other phones that do allow this if the assumed phone doesn't?)
2) Once rooted, are there any particular issues that I need to be careful of doing?
3) What am I not getting, if I'm missing this entirely?
Another phone of mine (LG VS986) is a Verizon model, and won't allow the hotspot to work since the SIM is a T-Mobile. You'd think that I'd just get smart and swap the SIM cards, but the LG is just not a Samsung. In reality, it is my spare, and I'm not moving my primary phone's usage to the LG from a S8+.
Again, I'd be deeply grateful to anyone who can shove me in the right direction.
