Anyone have an issue with their accelerometer/gyro on their 6P? I'm thinking mines faulty, the first sign was Google Fit, telling me I've done 45,000 steps in a day (when Moto Body said I've done 5,000! which is realistic)...
Next I noticed that my Live Wallpaper Minima wasnt very smooth in its motions and kept on freaking out even when held as still as I could. It had always worked perfectly on the old Nexus 6.
The phone works fine in general & rotates fine etc. It just seems extremely jumpy. Anyone else having this same issue?
I spoke to Google and they're sending a replacement.
Heres a video of the issue:
I'll post a reply to confirm the replacement device has fixed the issue.
Hey Dyna. I'm Josh, the developer of Minima. I'm currently looking into what might be causing this issue, as I've received maybe ten complaints from various 6P and 5X users over the past couple weeks about the jumpy tilt effect. The fact that it's spread across both devices makes me think it has more to do with how the system handles sensor updates on Marshmellow, rather than a particular device flaw.
Either way, I should have an update out soon to deal with the issue. I hope it will be as simple as smoothing out the incoming raw sensor data. If you'd like to discuss further you can reach me at [email protected].
Hi Josh
I have a new 6P arriving tomorrow, but possibly not required if other people are having the same issue, unless its a more common hardware fault as not everyone will use similar wallpaper or Google Fit so may go unnoticed. I had a Nexus 6 prior to the 6P and it worked perfectly with Marshmellow and Minima.
I love Minima btw!
I had this problem as well, as Josh said it may be an app issue if we're all having the same problem.
Same problem as you but:
Having the same problem and noticed it the same way (Minima). I tried a random compass app and it was really finicky. At first I thought my gyroscope/accelerometer was defective but just now I tried Doodle Jump, which works fine. Now I'm just confused.

I can think of several reasons why some apps would work and others wouldn't. For one, the app can choose certain types of sensors for this info (gravity vs accelerometer) and certain delays (UI vs Game vs Fastest). It could also have to do with how the sensor registration process starts per app. I've tried different combos with no luck.
I really hope it's in my code, because then I can fix it and all's well. If it's a sensor problem though...:crying:
I published a fix for this last night, let me know if any of you are having a better experience now, and if so which device is working better or not.

Yeah I got it this morning, it's working much better. I still get the odd jolt, not a full glitch where it would freak out but a small jolt where it will stop for a fraction then catch up again. To be honest it may had done it on the Nexus 6, but I just never paid that much attention to it.
This is on both my 6P's, the original one that made me start this thread & my new RMA. It works perfectly on both, so maybe it was a software issue all along. I havent it long enough to see how Google Fit behaves, I wouldnt had thought your app would have had any impact on Google Fit?

It wasn't really a problem with Minima. Minima has been using the Gravity Sensor since last year, which is a combination of accelerometer and gravity data on the device. It's more accurate than just accel usually, which is why I used it. It looks like the gravity data can get buggy on the 6p and 5x, so I reverted to just using the accelerometer and things seem to have smoothed out.
So apps using gravity may get whacked out, while apps using only accel (like Doodle Jump) might be just fine. I can't say for sure, all I know is the switch seems to have worked well enough. I'm still continuing research in hopes that I'll find something more concrete.

I think I have also worked out why my Google Fit registers a stupid amount of steps. I dont fully understand why as none of my previous phones have done this...
I use Daydream mode as a bedside clock, which I've done for years, but for some reason on the 6P, if I do this it'll clock up as much as 40,000 steps overnight!
Heres this morning so far... I've been up about 2hrs and not even left the house:

I have the same issue with my 6P, you can clearly see that accelerometer is weird by using apps like star chart, or try viewing photospheres in a VR mode, you'll see that it just randomly like crazy

Minima Live Wallpaper. I'm using a different sensor configuration on Android 6.0 to work around the faulty gravity sensor data the 5x and 6p are generating.

Yeah, just sitting idle the 5x shows a lot of jumpiness. I can see how it's logging that as steps.
So I was having the same issues with my Nexus 6P, spoke with Google Support and ended up getting my device replaced. I just received my new replacement device today and this one is still having the same exact issues.
On further testing using the Street View app, I've noticed that when I switch to Cardboard View it tracks perfectly, it's only the photo-sphere view that will not track my movements; it either won't spin at all or spins wildly by itself. Anyone have technical data on what the Cardboard viewer uses to track movement versus standard photo-sphere?
My phone started messing up also after I updated to MDB08L on Nov 11. I got my phone November 9th and the step counts were normal until then. My UP app has me walking over 200,000 steps yesterday and 75000 today when I normally average 12000. This is using the phone sensors. My android wear watch has normal counts. I also use the daydream app at night but the trends graph in the UP app have me doing 30 - 70000 steps in a 5 to 10 minute span while my phone is not Daydreaming. I'll be waiting to see if your RMA'd phone has the same problem.
OP: Which build are you on?

Also the Google Sky app is very jittery as compared to my 2013 Moto X. But photosphere is relatively smooth.
I just installed and so experiencing issues... any fix yet?

I just tried photosphere on streetmaps and although it doesn't spin on its own or anything and tracks my angular shifts as I do them, it does seem to consistently show 'micro jitter' like it has parkinsons. I'm just gonna check my Z3 and see if it has the same jitteriness there and update this post. And as a side note, if this pans out to be true, then at risk of sounding retarded, I wonder if this same issue has been why electronic stabilisation is not at optimum on the 6P.
I got a replacement and it also has the same issues... I wonder if it's a software problem
too bad I updated android as soon as I turned it on, so I can't verify if it was working before MDB08L... any easy way to rollback to verify it?

I got mine just over 2 weeks ago now, I accepted an OTA straight away. I think it was from MDA89D to MDB08K & I noticed the issue straight away. I'm now on MDB08M and its still got the same issue.
I have raised the issue with Google support and the guy I spoke to said he'd raise it for me. Hopefully its just a software issue that'll be fixed in the next OTA update.
If anyone wants to roll back to the original image, you can flash the factory images here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en as standard it'll wipe everything inc your pics etc, you can get around this by not flashing userdata.img.

So today I returned my Vibrant and removed my Nexus One from Ebay. It's sad that such a beautiful phone had to be returned but I couldn't cope with some major issues:
1) GPS (I dont care if there is a fix, it SHOULD work out of the box)
2) Laggy Market
3) Laggy Homescreen
4) Tethering issues (Using barnacle and IPad)
I will miss the screen... it was amazing... along with some of the features of touchwiz. However, the fact that TMobile confirmed that they will be launching an HSPA+ phone this summer makes me feel that much better about waiting to upgrade.
Let me get out my violin.

Feel better? Goodness it's like at least 5 people have to start this type of thread on every board I visit for any type of device. I can't wait for the usual people to come in and make this a 10 page thread
And when the TMO releases the new HSPA+ phone it will have a plethora of issues on its own, good luck
Just trying to save people the trouble from upgrading from their Nexus if they have one. Thanks for the violin though! ;p
I really don't set the point of these types of posts, so you are unhappy and experience issues that not everyone is. Does that mean I should annoyingly post about how great mine is working? My HD2 gave me problems everyday but I didn't post about it. My slide worked perfectly but I didn't post about it. Again gps is not everyone, I have tried the following apps:
Yelp
Yellow book
Find me
Places directory
Maps
Where
Layers
And google
ALL were able to find my location (locked)
Everything else hasn't happened to my phone yet
So really what is the point in posting that you are returning the phone, because I'm sure you have already posted the problems.

Oh man you should have seen the Evo 4G forums then. This is nothing compared to that.
If i'd've had a N1, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have a Vibrant now. N1 to Vibrant is probably not that big an improvement, but G1 (even rooted) to Vibrant is HUGE!
Sorry you didn't like your Vibrant!
I personally have had none of those issues, in fact, I have had not one force close or restart, the phone has been on and running without a single hitch since the day it was released and I picked it up at the T-mobile store.
This has been the best out of box experience I have ever had with a phone, especially one that was just released.

I agree on both accounts. When we get 2.2 OTA or mod it will prove to be the best phone available.

1. will work after OTA
2. Did you root? Haven't heard of significant issues pre-root
2. thats because it's filled with bulky widgets. Remove a few. I'm running 5 widgets (2 of the samsung ones) and a live wallpaper with no lag (did no lag fixes or anything)
4. Barnacle doesn't work without root. Doesn't work consistently with root because the phone just came out and they haven't added support for it yet. New hardware for a currently unsupported root feature. Hopefully it'll be included in 2.2, but if not, the tether programs should be updated soon.
I think you should have waited before getting the phone in the first place. Nothing come out perfect.
I also purchased the Vibrant to use as a wireless hotspot with my iPad. I am going to give it time. I probably wouldn't have upgraded from an N1 though.
I turned on the phone and I'm not kidding I went straight to ever screen and removed every widget and turned off all but one screen. I mean I really don't need 7 screens when I use the same few apps all the time.
I think the only issue's I've noticed is.
- Camera FC on me once.
- Antenna boucing all over the place signal wise. Full Bars, half bars, no bars. Who knows, but it still works.
I think the only rock solid phone I've ever purchased and it just worked was my old Side Kick. It wasn't fancy or flashy and of course doesn't do half the stuff that these newer phones do.
For me:
Notifications keep phone awake
I get FC when I try to add picture to contact
Slow market (rooted)
Antenna bars jump left and right, but it doesnt seem to effect the signal....
It's a genuine concern. Stop getting so defensive that people are having issues. Not everyone can afford to drop $500+ every two months on the latest and greatest. A new smartphone is an investment, and if it doesn't work as advertised, that's not the fault of the consumer. Also, keep in mind, 14 days is not a lot of time. We don't even know for sure if this is something that Samsung can or will fix.
Some of you are willing to accept that risk, and trust that a fix is coming. That's fine. Some of us are not as bold when it comes to such investments.
So, yes, we may get an announcement, by the 15th day, that everything is going to be fixed and we won't have to worry. But what if that announcement never shows up? What if they just shrug their shoulders and say, "Eh, good enough"?
Well, like I said, $500+ is a lot of money to gamble when it comes to the good faith of a corporation. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit nervous about them supporting this device properly.
I love my Vibrant, save for these reception issues with the various radios. I live in one of the best coverage spots in my city, and I've been having calls go straight to voicemail all week; my GPS takes 5 minutes to even lock, and when it does, the radius is 2-4 blocks wide; the compass does not work at all, and the phone will assume I'm driving and moving when I'm stationary because of these problems. As of today, it does not appear as if either company is acknowledging the issue. That said, if a statement isn't released soon, I'll be returning it to sit on the sidelines until a fix is announced -- as much as I'd miss the display.

because is common that the thing that uses more battery is the screen, but in android 4.3 is android system, but I think the battery is not bad at all...
In the other hand:
- super smoth
- ir enable
- better bluetooth
- sixasis support
the only fault that I see in 4.3 GPE (beside the battery report) is the camera app, it is just not good =/

My definition just means i can use it all day without the bigbdrain sense 5 was giving me. (4.1.2). I guess I'll look more into it since I just flashed yesterday. Also for camera, at least for me, it works fine. Of all the phones I've owned I've never messed with the settings (filters, iso, etc) just because I've never needed to. Plus I have a DSLR camera to do that . but that's me.

I am thrilled with the 4.3 update. I have had zero issues and battery life is very solid. My wife finally took the plunge from her iPhone 4 and I picked her up a ONE yesterday. While settings hers up, I realized how much better Stock Android is just due to the smoothness and simplicity of it. In my opinion, Sense 5 is still the best manufacturer experience to date but it's still too cumbersome compared to plain ole Stock Android
My battery life seems to be decent. I don't notice much difference than when I was on sense. I do notice the high android usage but as gunny said, I think it's being misread as it doesn't seem to be having a negative impact.
Also I know some have mentioned low signal. Again its just the way its reported because last night I had two bars and I was pulling speeds in the 20,30,40mbps range. Which I think they must have upgraded some towers because here in NYC with all the network congestion I usually pull 9-15mbps on average(depending on location)

My only issue on 4.3 is a lower LTE signal. I am only getting 1 bar now, and I used to get 3-4. The battery is good, even with that weird bug.

Yeah, 4.3 is all sacked. LTE ping is slow as a turtle. 4.2.2 everything was snappy. ADB doesn't work, screen off proximity sensor, when phone is off the charge animation doesn't work when rooted. Its not the root process. My nexus 4 & 7 have stock ROM and supersu installed.. No problems. What has HTC done!? Back to 4.2.2 I go. This 4.3 blows.
Look at this junk! Wow.. Horrible Horrible update. 4.2.2 was at 20-30% system this is at 80%+!?!? Horrific.

Regarding the proximity sensor bug, I briefly flirted with the complete Google Play edition conversion then decided to return to completely stock sense. I started blindly messing about with mids, cids , firmwares etc. I eventually managed to run RUU 1.28.401.7 successfully.
I factory reset my device for good measure then proceeded to install every subsequent update and I am now on 2.24.401.1 and I factory reset my device after every update. Everything appeared good and I have set my device up again with what I would consider to be a very clean install of the stock sense rom.
......Then ring ring and there it is...the dreaded proximity sensor bug

My good buddy has the HTC One for AT&T. I rooted it for her and all was well. Next thing she finds out her proximity sensor borked. She called att and they went thru a process to see what the sensor was on.. The sensor should be at 50 and the reports came back that her sensor was at 0. Hearing more and more of this sensor bug, makes me think its more of a hardware fault. Its only a matter of time till the sensor completely flakes out and dies.

Anything you've read about reboots etc is just false conjecture. History has shown through various outlets like XDA, Google+ etc that the Nexus 4 is rock solid and stable. So much so the Nexus 5, whatever it may be has to be SIGNIFICANTLY better in design and features before I even consider upgrading. Which I doubt I will because the N4 is just perfect for me.

thats normal. considering that its summer there where you are, and the air temperature is warm, thats very normal. the phone temperature while being used will average lower when its cooler there. the phones safety shutdown is at 100C cpu temp, so you are still quite a bit in the safe range.
No problems or over heating after about 10 months of heavy usage!
I can't understand why some people have so many problems with the Nexus 4, mine does no random reboot/lock now (last time I rebooted to install 4.3)...
I had a problem with over-night lockups (i was not the only one), so I disabled a lot of apps/widgets, and got many days without lockups. So I started turning everything back again, one by one. I had a suspect always in my mind: dashclock, I never turned it up again (it has so many plugins, including some made by me with Tasker). I can't tell for sure dashclock was the culprit it's an excellent app, and I ended giving up other apps too (I really didn't used them frequently ).
But I learned that apps can create random reboots... (the system should still handle this, but appears it does not).
So, I don't think anything is wrong with the hardware, since software can take a system down to.
The Nexus 4 is a great phone.
My only dislike is: now on 4.3, I have to use "hangouts" (no status?!) instead of talk (i may root to get talk back).
PS: I've disabled Hangouts, it is of no use to me.

as you said, most of the "issues" are user set up. the heat issue is blown out of proportion by too many, when the issue is a non issue. they "feel" the heat more because of the glass back.
anyways, the great thing about root.. im using talk on 4.3

well flash a custom Kernel which will undervolt the phone and then use an app to underclock the GPU not the CPU. I get 30-35 max, 5-6 hours of battery (4.2.2 ) I tried the 4.3 and did not like how it works.
Loud pops and crackles on the first 4-5 seconds of video taken with the camera.
Poor 3G signal/reception performance from update to update. 4.1 bad, 4.2 good, 4.3 bad again.

Which I doubt I will because the N4 is just perfect for me.

conjecture?
Since the 4.3 upgrade my Nexus 4 is essentially a paper weight. First it just refused to go beyond the X screen. After a downgrade of the radio back to 4.2.2 version, I could start up. After that, the problems weren't over. My N4 locks the SIM at random, shuts down a couple of times every hour and refuses to restart without being plugged in. Even when fully charged.
Worse: reflashing an older factory img (I tried 4.2 and 4.2.2) does not resolve these issues. Nor does flashing AOKP. Which is just bizarre, because my N4 worked perfectly before the upgrade. How can an upgrade lead to hardware problems?
I'm not alone.(but I can't post outside links, apparently.) There's a support thread on the google groups forum 6 pages long.

Are you wiping your partitions in fastboot before flashing the images? Sounds like an error somewhere is causing serious issues for you. It probably stemmed from a bad download and has yet to be corrected. I would wipe EVERYTHING and start with a clean slate. Re-download the images and verify the md5.

I've had random re-boots, shut downs and freezes up to and exceeding 10 times a day, during phone calls.... youtube, web browser. you name it. there is no disparity.
it's random. . . it doesn't care when it wants to re-boot. - i've had this problem since the day i received my nexus 4 on January 2nd 2013
It doesn't matter if it's running stock android. rooted or not rooted locked or unlocked.... freshly installed, new rom, different build or new offical stock build.. ~ maybe some builds it has been a little bit more stable.... but there was a short period where i just left the phone as is...
no updates.... no new software.... nothing..... it was working fine for a couple of weeks then the random reboots started all over again.
so i have no idea... honestly.... i've heard every reason imaginable.... it's this software, it's that widget. . . it ain't true.
the problems persist.... on a fresh install....no widgets running... no software downloaded.....
ive tried cyanogen mod for the last few months.... it's been better.
but it's starting the problems all over again... so today i wiped the entire phone.... in a last ditch effort to get it stable....
i'm stuck now without an OS and i can't get fastboot recognized in the command prompt..... i don't know what to do now... ive been reading threads for hours without success.... installing driver, sdk.... you name it....
it ain't bricked..... but i sure can't get android back on there without an OTG cable and that doesn't work on nexus 4. well.... mine anyway.
i just want stock android 4.3 or 4.2 ... "ANYTHING" running... with minimal apps and something stable.... that's all i care about. i can't afford another phone at this time.... so i'm completely stumped.
so . . . there are others like you... that ARE having major hiccups with their NEXUS 4's......
my friends at collage all have the same phone without ANY problems at all..... BUT there are some of us....
who have just had bad luck all the way....
Did you try to RMA?
I took the jump to Android from Windows Phone and I really liked the S7 Edge form factor and looks however it is just too buggy and has hardware problems so I think I might have to try an iPhone (scary). Here are my list of problems with the S7 Edge:
SD card problems - known issue HW rev problems - nag screen as well as lost apps installed on the SD card
Random reboots - many a day
Thumbprint recognition - seems like it takes me 3-4 thumbprints every time - why?
English Language Pack storage bug - eats all my space - it keeps coming back even if disabled - 2nd time ran out of space on the phone - 16-18GB footprint for this - why? what does this app do?
WIPES MY PHONES - this has happened TWICE - this is the deal breaker - I even turned on 'avoid turning on while in pocket' - doesn't matter when i go for hikes or ski in the cold maybe - it WIPES MY ENTIRE PHONE - not good
bugs with texting and message+ - seem like the phone freezes when texting - can't finish typing - message+ crashes - this is major pain
Lots of apps crashing randomly - not sure why
I really want to make this phone work but the WIPING of the DEVICE twice for me means full day of lost productivity for my traveling job. I can't be rebuilding my phone every few weeks. Is this acceptable for Samsung's flagship phone? I am open and patient to technology and not biased one way or the other (I do miss some features on my Windows Phone).
I think if You are having that many issues with your S7 Edge then you Should return it! Just because this is an Android forum doesn't have to mean going to an iPhone is scary. I live in both the Android and iPhone world and it's a-ok! Now a non-jailbroken iPhone can be much more limiting than a stock Android device but it is still a nice phone and works well out of the box. Maybe you should just return your phone as a defective one or look at the apps your are installing to see if one or two or more are causing the conflicts and issues and reboots. I haven't experienced the problems that you have except reboots after installing the latest version of iHeart Radio (now using an older version and absol6no problems) and the Good Lock app from Samsung was rebooting my phone so I Uninstalled it right away.
My S7 Edge has to be one of the coolest and most beautiful phones I have ever owned. Out of the box it is very, very customizable and even without rooting still offers so many possibilities that I could never do with my iPhone straight out of the box. There are alternatives to try out for the apps that you are currently using and where you might end up liking even more than your current favorites (I suggest trying Yaata text messaging app. Works very well! There's a discussion thread here on XDA-DEVELOPERS too). Good luck with your decision.

This really seems like a bad piece you should replace, and you will be probably fine. I havent encountered any problems aside of one SD card dying unexpectedly (probably faulty SD tho), and the poor palm rejection when typipng with one hand/upside down (this has however been largely fixed by the latest update). Otherwise, no problems at all.

Thanks burrzoo. This is my first Android so maybe I had high expectations or maybe I just got a bad one. I am patient and understand bugs, random oddities since I have only owned Windows Phones up until this point if that tells you about device/HW patience, hacked many ROMs here, etc. so I like the extensibility of the Android platform as a replacement but I guess the Verizon S7 is locked so no custom ROMs? I will say however none of those Windows phones every wiped my phone like the S7 did twice.
As far as installed apps I have really basic apps - Office, Outlook, social apps. Nothing special really. The English Language Pack is an Android installed app that comes with the S7 so there is no way to remove it apparently. I did disable a lot of the default Google, Samsung and Android apps since i don't use them. Maybe i have to leave it more stock to avoid problems? I dunno - if you guys can help me explain the WIPING of my device or HOW to prevent this that would go a long way.

Jomari,
No, I have only owned Windows Phones. I am open to either platform as a replacement. I have never owned an iPhone either but if this is the first class android experience then I would say it hasn't been so great.
I did not experienced all those problems you mentioned, my S7E is buttery smooth.
Strange, I'm having none of these issues. I would suggest you might have a faulty model.
I'd say you have a defective device.
Mine has no issues at all so far.

okay, thanks everyone. Looks like I am past the 14 days return policy and Samsung warranty won't swap hardware. Any thoughts on what I can do to get a new device? Samsung offered for me to send in the device and they can evaluate it and replace faulty HW - should i do that?
I did find two things in my searches for some of my issues:
1) There is an 'Auto-Factory Reset' device option set to ON on the S7 Edge under 'Lock Screen and security' > 'Secure lock settings' > 'Auto-factory reset' on/off toggle. I think this may be the main problem on the device I am trying to solve. On my Verizon device the checkbox is greyed out. Can you guys disable auto-wipe on your devices? The question becomes how is it auto-factory reset in my pocket when i have 'detect device in pocket' and i have locked screen. Is it flipping on somehow with movement? Why would they not have a 'are you sure you want to factory/reset?' if this is accidental?
2) On a fun note - I think I found an Android easter egg or maybe not? on 6.0.1 when I was trying to enable dev unlock (not sure if it is documented) - you can play an Android Flappy bird game:
Go to Settings > About Phone > Android Version 6.0.1 and then click it about 5 times in succession rapidly - it unlocks an Android Flappy Bird mini-game - LOL
I can confirm that on AT&T variant you can toggle the Auto-Factory Reset.

Sounds like a very defected device.
Your really the first i heard tht has had these problems.
My fingerprint works great.
This is problem the only phone i have had tht doesnt turn on in my pocket.
Also dont know why your phone i wiping itself.
Never had that happen with any phone.
There is an option for wiping the phone if the lock screen password is wrong 5 times in a roll.
I onlynuse the default messging app but never had a problem with slow typing.
16gb for language is very off.
The whole system setup is only around 9gb.
So if you think andriod is crap then move on.
If you wanna try ios then do so.
But i can say that it sounds like your phone is broken

Man, people get so sensitive about their platforms. Yes, I am talking about the new Samsung S7 Edge on Verizon yes. How am I trolling exactly? These are honest problems I am having - is it not possible to have problems with a new device? I guess folks figure if I point out problems than I am trolling. Not sure how I have to prove this are legit.
On a positive note, I think I did find some root causes on my own recently like the 'Auto-factory reset' setting which is why my device is wiping itself however I can't disable it on Verizon for some reason.
Not sure about the other problems - running out of space, etc. so I am welcome to feedback.

I would be tempted to say this is a combination of OS confusion and faulty unit. Some of what you say has been experienced by others in the S7 Edge forums and some of what you said sounds a little like "it didn't do this on my Windows device". I'm not bashing you at all, I'm just saying that it may be something you come to understand with time.
I remember moving from Apple to Android many years back (I moved to the first original Galaxy S device). I felt like I'd made the biggest mistake of my life! I just didn't "get" it. Things that where simple on the iPhone suddenly had 2 or 3 different ways to complete the task on Android.
I would suggest firstly discussing the issues with Samsung or your provider and see if they are actual issues, or user confusion, then once confirmed, I guess you have a decision... stick with it and see how deep the rabbit hole goes, or return the device and decide Android isn't for you.

okay thanks for the fingerprint tips Ashoudy. I think I will send it back to Samsung and hopefully they send me a new device. Don't get me wrong - I really like the S7 and think it is well ahead of iPhone innovation wise. I got it pre-launch so maybe I just got a bad early device.
Some of these problems may not be hw related in my opinion: Factory resets, storage space problem but hopefully a newer device will fix these.
LOL at people in here saying "well mine's working fine", alright, and your point is what exactly?
It's pretty obvious that OP here has a lemon, and it should be returned. This isn't anything new though, and every manufacturer on the planet will have some of these in circulation for the first month or two. That's the price we pay for being early adopters. If you don't want to get a device with any surprises next time, I recommend you to wait for like 3 months before buying a device. Apple also had some issues with the iPhone 6 and 6S, like expected. Same with Sony, LG, HTC and Samsung. It's always a pain in the butt when it happens to you, but it's pretty much a gamble when you get a brand new device this early.
I have personally zero issues with my gold Edge (built on March 15), so this just shows how bad it can get for unlucky people like OP.
Hi to every lucky body that get android 7 final.i made this topic to share your results in android 7 and compare with yours in android 6..like camera..battery..speed..tanx and hope to be usefull and active topic??????
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Well, it's a tiny bit snappier, and a tiny bit faster overall.
The battery is better; I get 3:45 to 4 hours SOT in auto brightness, full location services with wireless scanning, google now on, google cards on, hot word on from any screen... the full google experience, for short.
It's better than I had with a variety of mods and ROMs on Marshmallow.
I especially enjoy the new notification center. I can read numerous full messages and emails right from the notification slide. Quite awesome.
And I thank the gods of Google for removing the stupid enlarged tiles for Wireless and Bluetooth, the most annoying feature ever.
Battery is not bad for stock but I get the feeling with all mods and tweaks and kernels and such android M was a bit better...
But it would be unfair to compare those two as M has been worked on for a year now... N is fresh out of the box so let's wait and see how much battery can be improved.
Other than that N is very fluent and fast. Up to now also very stable and offers some important options that used to be mods some years ago.
Camera... And such... Did not really compare but would expect them to be similar...

I haven't tried N yet, but I was reading a comment on Slashdot that led me to believe, that it included something similar to CM13 privacy manager ? Is this true? Do you now get to choose what apps get access to? Can you block them from wireless, cellular data?
^ This feature alone made me upgrade the wife's and kids tablets from Nexus 7s to Nexus 7 (2013)s so I could put them on CM13.

No, but you can do that from Data Usage in Settings, in M as well.
I've been using it for 2 days now. The doze feature is way better than that of M. I've noticed certain performance boost in games like asphalt 8 as the game used to lag after thermal throttling was active in M.
The usage is very very smooth, feels very light. I mostly love the quick settings panel as because it looks and is well organised than the previous version. It's just an initial build and its quite stable. I would say I am impressed and good to go with 7.0.
Well this was my perspective.

Not entirely sure... NExus 5x has quite some struggle with charging when screen on.
Under M there was almost no charging when screen was on and you did some browsing...
Might be slightly better under N... though I havent tested it long enough to confirm... Charging basically stopped when you used your phone constantly and not just for writing a text under M...
Nope, seems same like before.

Edit: it actually seems better, I'm using my phone on charger for about 10mins, and ampere measures around 1100mAh.
On MM it wouldn't go to more than 300mAh while screen on.

I tested it while playing a game (8 ball pool, not a resource intensive app) and the percentage went up atleast 2 to 3 % in roughly 5-10 minutes. It seems that it is improved. But we still need someone to look through the kernel's code or run a reliable test!
I have it on my 5x since it dropped was on dp5 before that. Official seems smoother don't really use the 5x since I got the s7.
I'm actually seeing what seems to be worse battery performance. I've eliminated a few apps that were troublesome, but it looks like the battery is draining faster than on "M". I'm hoping that it's simply a problem with the crappy cell signal in my office - my connection bounces between 27 different towers and it's still crappy at best.
Atleast for me, I can confirm that charging while screen on is finally fixed. Hail hydra!
As previously stated, it feels a lot snappier and lighter being on Nougat as opposed to Marshmallow. Quick Settings are better overall, especially when you're able to add custom quick tiles via apps in the Play Store. Only complaint about the Quick Settings is that the Wifi and Bluetooth used to toggle on press, then open mini settings when you clicked the text. Now it just opens mini settings. I can get used to that, though.
Oh, and I still hate the white background in the settings app. Haven't found any Layers themes that work well yet. If anybody else finds one, let me know.

Important, there are sorta probs about Substratum and Android N, such as make sure you wont apply it to Chrome and Documents for example. You'd get instant force close. And if there's any other app like that, you need to make sure it is off the list to get themed.
