Hi, Noticed my volume up button is stuck, My phone constantly thinks i am pressing the volume up key, Is it possible for me to boot my phone? My phone is only showing a dead android. I do have images but wont let me upload them.
If you're having this problem and can't figure it out. It's probably best if you call customer service and have the device replaced while it's still under the 14 day window.
A volume key is pretty crucial for the phone.

Power button does not respond at any point.
*EDIT:except after battery out for a long time, then power button WILL turn the phone on, but then continues to not function as per usual.
However, the phone automatically turns on as soon as the battery is placed in, so it's not dead at least.
Also can not get the phone to be recognised on either of two computers (one running Win 7 and the other Vista) always get "device has malfunctioned etc"
Have re-flashed a ROM from SD but same problem. If holding down the Vol Down on start up (putting the battery in) I can get to bootloader, hence the re-flash. But holding down both gets to the hard reset 'warning' screen, but it won't let me press Vol Up to actually do the hard reset.
All in all a frustrating problem which means I have to remove my battery to turn my phone off and have to use the option from Windows Menu to lock the device.
Any help with any of the problems is greatly appreciated.
Also Power Button mechanical function is still normal.
Many thanks.
Sounds like your end key has become faulty as well as your volume up button. Both of witch are common issues, especially the end button, but most peoples volume down button wears out first. This is do to the fact that the end/power key is in constant use from turning on and off the HD2 or from getting MAGLDR to pulled up a bootup for those running NAND Android. Also the volume keys take a lot of wear and tear from constant volume adjustment especially if you listen to alot of music on your HD2. Plus the volume ..down key takes extra wear and tear from being used to enter bootloader.
hello
hello vsem
Yes it does seem that way, however I have had teh battery out over night, when I put it back in this morning it DID NOT automatically initiate the boot sequence. But it did after I pressed the power button, so it must have read it to some extent?
Also when the phone is on I can change the volume up and down as per usual, its all a bit strange.
Any other way to initiate a hard reset other than that menu?
Thanks very much!
It seems you are having a hardware issue, try sending your device to the service centre.
Hi,
after unlocking and rooting my Nexus 4 I flashed the franco-kernel. I did these steps with the ToolKit. But now when I start my phone I can press the power button once and it offers me to shut it down. After that there is no reaction when pressing the power button. I tried to reset the Nexus but I still get the same error. Can anyone help? Thanks!
EDIT: My nexus just turned off the screen and I was able to reactive it by pushing the powerbutton. What works all the time is shutting down the phone by long pressing.
From your initial post it sounds like it might be sticking..

I don't think that it's hardware related. It might be a software issue. Sometimes the screen stays on for ever unless I open an app and close it again. It seems the phone doesn't know what to do when the button is pressed.
EDIT: When connected to PC I can use the button only to power off the phone. I can't wake it...weird
Hi guys! Just got a nexus 7 1st gen and its stuck in a bootloop. It seems that it thinks the power button is constantly pushed in when its not which is causing it to restart constantly. Ive managed to get it to stay on by wedging down the volume up key but i cant use the sleep/wake or volume up and as soon as i let go of the volume up it thinks the power button has been pressed and asks me if i want to power down, but before i can press anything it resets. I have put new buttons in this morning to no avail and cant find anyone with the same problem and was wondering if anyone one here had any idea?
Hi !
I bought a Nexus 4 for 10 bucks from a taxi driver knowing it has this problem . I searched the whole internet and barely found some info, most of the people who got this problem just force closed it and then it worked. But with this one, it happens everytime i turn it on.
You can see the problem in the video.
Also, if i let it boot, i can change the volume and i managed to turn on the flash, so the touch is working. And the screen does the same thing if i wake it, but it's not that bright..
Can anyone help me ?
I don't know if it has root or anything, if you can at least help me with a guide to flash it without knowing anything about the software or the settings in it, i'd be really thankful!

Hi
If you can go to stock recovery i.e press an hold volume down+power button until you see bootloader.
Then press volume down key until you see recovery. Press power button to select.
Then press an hold power button and press volume up key and release all keys.
Now you are in recovery.
You can do a factory wipe.
See if that solves the problem.
Good Luck

This is my very first post, so I hope you can forgive me for any mistakes.
I buyed an secondhand ZUK Z1 from eBay. Everything was fine and dandy.
But after a week I encountered a problem. Firstly the Volume Down button did not respond properly then it utterly stopped working.
I buyed spare parts (side key) from the official ZUK-Store.
These are the contacts to connect with the "motherboard"(?)
I opened the the Z1 and even replaced the side key contacts myself.
After putting everything back together and powering on, the Volume Down Button still didn't work.
Volume Up button and Power-Button works perfectly but Volume Down does not...
I can press the Button normaly and hear the *click* noise.
I guess it's either a manufacturing error or some Software detecting error. Or something burned up inside. Well I don't know.
I can't access to recovery without the Volume Key. So yeah... i'm pretty frustated.
I'm typing this to find others with the same problem and would appreciate it when somebody knows more.
The device is not rooted

Phone struck
I too have the same volume down key problem. Because of that the phone enters boot menu and it becomes very difficult to come out of it till the phone shows some mercy on us. Once by chance if it works then the phone works absolutely normal. But it is a potential problem.
