HELP PLEASE , on unroot - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone i have a samsung gt-i9505g running android 5.0.1 already rooted
i want to flash it with the stock firmware but i cant i try with kies but the kies even does not find my phone when i try manually it gives a answer the type of your samsung is no available
i try with ODIN downloaded everything but when the ODIN goes to write files it stops by a message e:\... write protection enabled and it stops
please anyone who can help me i appreciate your help
the reason that i want to un-root is it just keeps rebooting every 5 or 10 minutes and the battery dies very fast
HELP PLEASE .

Rooting wouldn't cause your battery woes so something else must be causing it. Nevertheless, most Odin problems can be resolved by using a different port, using the original cable, and not using a USB hub.

What firmware are you trying to flash? You can probably only flash Lollipop firmware.

Ignore those messages. Those are normal.
Boot into download mode. What does it say your model is?

You have a GT-I9505 and not a GT-I9505G. That's why your flashing fails. You are running a custom GPE rom.
Root has nothing to do with your battery dying fast. It's completely unrelated.
You are running this rom:

Either reflash that rom or download a stock I9505 rom.

[Q] galaxy s4 gti9505 WAS rooted but cant change status back to normal

hi all, as you can tell, im a noob well, I have a samsung galaxy s4 gti9505 that I rooted with odin WHEN I had a pc, and it just so happens, whenever I root an android, it works but then things start to go wrong like lagging, freezing, drainage of the battery really fast ect. So this time I decided to google how to unroot my phone without a pc to fix my problem. I did that using super su or something which had the unroot option witch I did successfully. But just a few moments ago, I was just checking to see if there were any updates available for my phone because my camera decided to stop working, (well the camera works but when trying to record, a pop-up box appears saying camera failed). So when I tried to update, it said that I cant update because my phone is modified, now as stated above, I am a noob to this subject so please be patient with me trying to comprehend the technical terms use will use hahaha. Can someone please explain to me if it is possible to change the status from custom to normal without the help of a computer? Thanks in advance
help meeh please
Can anyone help?
I don't understand why you want to return back to stock without computer/laptop. In any case following instruction will help you to return your S4 back to stock:
1.First you need to download official firmware for your region from this site: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/
2. Second upload it to phone with Odin http://www.andromint.com/download-odin-latest-version/
If needed you can also use Triangle away to reset custom flash count.
That's all...
.
Dear all,
I have a similar question.
I've rooted my i9500. I wonder is there any way to roll back my phone like Triangel Away etc. I mean in case of any guarantee situation.
As far as understand, as of now no way to reset.
I hope someone can find a way to reset everyhing to get warranty back.

You don't need to un-root before flash ... you will for sure lose root anyway

Is there any way i can download at more than 200KB's?
http://puu.sh/4YTbL.png
Cause the captcha for the rom download on the link says it's wrong even when i type it right..
I must do something wrong here, because it's not working for me.
I followed the instructions and device still says it is modified and it will not check for updates from samsung.
What is my next step?
Procedure so far:
Gained root acces with ODIN
I did not flash a custom rom.
Used Triangle away to reset counter (counter checked 0 afterwards)
Flashed Galaxy stock firmware downloaded from internet (PHN-I9505XXUDMHB-20130922121848.zip unpacked this once) with ODIN
Furthermore, regarding KNOX reading:
KNOX KERNEL LOCK: 0X0
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0X1
(I suppose the latter means Samsung still is able to see I did something)
Would a hard reset solve this issue do you think?

Bricked phone (FIXED)

Hello everyone! I tried installing a custom ROM using a dual boot method. I was on MH6 that silly version that uses knox. When I'm trying to install a stock ROM using odin, I get a black screen and in the top left corner there's a red text that says "SECURE FAIL: KERNEL", also there's one more white text that says "System software not authorized by Samsung has been found on your phone."
Btw, these are my stats on downloading mode...
KNOX KERNEL LOCK: 0xffffffc
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0xffffffc
Any help please? I'm desperate, I even tried installing a stock ROM using bootloader, modem, pda, csc it still gave me that aboot error, removed the bootloader and I'm still stuck with the non-samsung software version.
Thanks!

Are you using the latest firmware when flashing with odin? It won't let you down grade from the firmware you were on. I get firmware from sammobile.com.

First, I'll try to flash adam's kernel, even though I cannot access recovery mode, i'll try to make an odin flashable .tar.
Second, I've tried many firmwares including the newest one and even some old ones, even tried to remove the aboot as I said in the main post, but no luck.
I'll come back with an edit if it works or not, anyways thx!
EDIT: Didn't work X(. Still get that Non-authorized software problem.
P.S: It can now be closed, fixed it thanks to this guy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45826072&postcount=5276

[Q] No sound or wifi after installing custom ROMs and returning to stock.

Hi and thanks for looking at this post,
I have searched the forums and haven't found a thing that works for my phone. I rooted and backed up my current version this morning (4.2.2 stock) using CWM. I then proceded to install Wanamlite 1.5 for the S4 GT-I19505, which installed but had serious issues with sound, everything would crash when the volume controls were pressed or headphones inserted. I therefore switched ROM to Android revolution HD 1.0. I installed what I thought was the relevant wifi fix, but no joy.
At this point, I restored to stock 4.2.2 hoping it would solve the issue, but it hasn't, my cwm backup also has the issue after attempting to restore.
Anyone got any suggestions of how I can fix this? I thought the stock restore would have done this, but obviously not.
I am running android 4.2.2 on a stock rom (XXUAMDD_I9505EVRAMDA_EVR).
GT - I9505
If you need to know anything else, let me know. Thanks.
- Go to CWM
- Make a full wipe (data, system and cache)
- Restore ur old stock backup
- I think this will solve ur problems :highfive:

Thanks for the quick response, unfortunately it hasn't worked
I'm assuming it's a kernel issue, but surely that would have been replaced after installing back to stock? Is there anywhere we can download the individual required kernels maybe?

Thanks for the help, was a different file from the one I tried earlier, but still no joy with this one either.
There doesn't appear to be a wifi-fix from the list of those files for my version. I'm going to try it, combined with a complete stock reinstall now, to see if there is any change.

I really dont understand why are you trying to revert into your back up? when you can just flash a 4.3 stock rom in order to fix all this problem? then root it after ? just so you know that your warranty is already void sir. so go ahead and make a back up and flash a 4.3 stock rom from samsung website. thank you.

Thanks, I'll do that. I was trying to steer clear of 4.3, because of issues I had keeping root access on it, but if that's what will solve these problems then that's fine for me. As for the warranty, I don't mind too much Thanks for all the help again.

H O W DO WE FIX THIS FRIGGEN ISSUE!?!?
Everyone is having this same damn problem, I've had it for about a month, flashed all sorts of roms, wifi fixes, different modems etc
and its not working, I matched my ap cp csc so they are all the same:
Last night it was reading:
AP: I9505XXUFNB8
CP: I9505XXUFNB8
CSC:I9505XXUFNB8
= NO SOUND
Its all the same now except
CP: I9505XXUFNA5
Please help, or even better - if someone has the knowledge to let me know what is actually wrong here and I can then research and fix it myself.
THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnks..
same problem here!!! Absolutely no sound on my Galaxy S4.. But I noticed that I have sound only if there is not flashed modem after installing clean rom (Phoenix).. So there must be problem with modem.. But any modem that I tried to flash doesn't trigger the sound, the latest, the oldest... really dont know.... :///////

soft-bricked galaxy s5 g900f

My s5 g900f recently started having this weird battery issue where the battery would go from 100% - 0 in under an hour, But before I got to replace the battery I jus woke up one morning n the phone was off, tried putting it on after recharging but all it did was continuously show the Samsung logo and reboot. Got a new battery but no change, plus I only seem to have access to download mode.
Is it rooted? Custom ROM/kernel?
Or is it totally stock.
It was totally stock, hadn't even rooted it yet
Install a battery monitoring app, see if its an app or system process draining it
Clear all caches in recovery
Flash a stock ROM from sammobile .com and factory reset

I have no idea why it's not working, if it is definitely the G900F, which it seems to be if download mode says so
Make sure you're running ODIN as Admin, using a native PC not a Mac, got the Samsung drivers installed, and running the latest version of ODIN, I think it 3.10.7 or something
Some people report using an older version having worked when the latest failed too, try 3.07 etc
You could also try flashing TWRP 2.8.7.0 with ODIN, and see if you can get into recovery, if you can, try flashing a custom ROM from TWRP
Almost seems too obvious......
But can you get into recovery? If so, have you tried wiping data and cache?.......

He's getting a pass at the end of the odin flash, so we have to assume he's got a functioning OS on the device......unless he's got hold of a faulty firmware and Odin hasn't picked up on it during the flash.....
There are 16gb and 32gb versions of the device......did the OP use the correct pit file?.....

If you're still able to get into Download Mode, the device is soft-bricked. As to firmware, are you using Optimus, Vodafone, or a smaller carrier?

tmn , its the most used in portugal but the roms didnt work as I said
Nevertheless, you asked for a ROM. Your ROM is here. Assuming you can get into download mode, make sure you're using the original cable and the cable is directly connected to the PC (i.e. not using a hub). Post any error messages Odin generates.
Awnser #2
So the first rom the 9505XXUHOJ5_I9505TMNHOJ1_TMN , i've already tried , and the error that odin gave was, nand writ and the fail.
Ill try to install the 4.2.2 version to see if it works .

Humor me.
Enter Download Mode and read off the model number given there. I want to confirm you don't have a Frankenphone before recommending you bring the phone to a Samsung service center to have it looked at.

Take it in for service. If none of the stock ROMs will install you have a hardware issue.
When flashing a stock ROM, you should flash the same or newer firmware to the phone.
Are you using the original Samsung cable to flash the ROM? What errors are you getting in Odin?

whats is the diference between a rom or a firmware?
No, im using a regular cable... the pc detects it so there's no problem I guess...
Sorry about the confusion. Firmware and rom and pretty much the same thing.
Even though my s4 and s3 were detected with any old sub cable I had on hand, I could only flash the stock rom in Odin with an original Samsung cable. I would always get put errors without the Samsung cable.
@RubenPimenta: Sometimes yes, sometimes no. You should be using the original cable, rather than an aftermarket one.
oK ill try with the original cable and I'll post the result ...
but until now the error its always the same... nand writ fail
Same results...
help guys

You should be on Windows 7 at least. Try another computer, but if that doesn't work, follow my advice in post #9.
