S4 i9505 no service and emergency call issue - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI
this has been some 4 days i got issue with my phone show no service or emergency call only the imei basbnad is ok
i have also flashed it with stock rom latest version but when put sim gives no service message done imei repair with z3x
but still have this problem how to get sorted this issue ? and is there anyway way via that i can check whether its hardware issue ?hoping for prompt reply.
thanks an advance .

If your IMEI was ok, then all you did is waste time with using the riffbox to rewrite it. You have a hardware problem, and it's one of two possibilities.
1. The SIM card tray is damaged.
2. The motherboard is damaged.
For your sake, let's hope that it's item 1, because the part is readily available on Amazon for 10USD plus shipping. That part is also really easy to replace. If the SIM tray isn't the culprit, then your other alternative is to replace the motherboard.

I had just changed my phone (O2 xda) mainboard. because my phone suddenly entered the RGB screen when i was using it. i sent a fix shop to repair.the problem was not resolved .it was more serious. so i change the mainboard. but the wifi can not work. i'm in china. so official Prophet 830 has not wi-fi chip. can anybody help me confirm my phone mainboard has the wi-fi chip.
Another problem, after i flashed the rom , the phone prompt me "no sim card" and the power charge management display the phone is charging. but i am not charge at all.I take down the battery and sim card. next day ,i install the sim card and battery. the phone is normal. but serverl hours or one day, the error message also display. i search more and update more roms, but no useful.it is no change. someone told me maybe power manager IC is damaged.
i didn't know the problem is a software or hardware issue.
can anybody help me.

so you can't repair it!

because the fixed shop can not confirm it. you know it is normal in china.
i didn't changed the mainboard in official manufacturer. the price is very expensive. so i changed a used mainboard.

[Q] Sim no longer available 4.4.2 stock samsung rom

Hi I have been using the stock samsung rom of 4.4.2 installed OTA. It worked fine for several months and just recently the simcard is no longer visible which also means the IMEI number is also gone.
I have replaced the sim reader after trying a reflash of the samsung firmware to the same version.
I then tried rooting and using a custom ROM with some success for a few minutes but there were other issues so have used Odin to go back to the original firmware, hoping for a miracle, to get mobile network access.
Is this a common issue?
Is there a working fix?
Have I done something wrong or do I need to do something else?
Thanks in advance, my phone is a GT-i9505 4G
Looks like a hardware issue. Get it to repair to one service center.
I've been having the same issue with mine, although mine came about from being dropped too many times. My SIM stopped being read, then when I replaced the SIM/SD flex, both cards stopped being read.
Took it into a phone shop to have the flex replaced again (assuming that the one I installed was faulty) only to be handed the phone back and told that the motherboard is stuffed. Since mine's been damaged as much as it has been, it certainly won't be covered under warranty, so that's not an option for me. I'm basically up for a new phone.
Good luck

[Q] S4 unlocked: reads original SIM but suddenly No Sim Card Error on new SIM

Hi all, I have strange problem with my S4 GT I9505. I read various forums and searched but couldn't find a similar case to this strange problem. I am quite new to android and hope that maybe somebody of you would be able to help me or point me in the right direction to solve the issue below.
Issue
I had the phone unlocked from my provider O2 in UK and moved outside of Europe. My S4 accepted the new SIM card for the first 2 to 3 month. At this time my S4 was unrooted. Out of the blue it started with no sim card error, please reboot when using the new Sim Card.
Here is a list of all changes I done but it didn't help
- unrooted: Factory reset Kitkat, updated to Lollipop
- Rooted the phone as above didn't help, installed various custom ROMS, stock Lollipop, Google play edition. After I flashed the ROM I have for a short time network with the new SIM card but then it starts again with the No Sim Card Error. However, I have no problem with my original O2 SIM card.
- Changed SIM card, checked my new SIM card with other phones and it worked, so it not a fault on the SIM card
- Checked with my provider O2 in UK: phone is unlocked,
- Tried to open Service Menu but none of the codes worked, went to EFS folder/carrier/hidden menu and changed OFF to ON, still could open Service Menu to check if the phone was still blocked etc.
Any guidance how to solve this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Frank
Hardware failure. Replace the sim slot. No messing with software is going to fix that.

Thanks, I will try this next, hopefully this will fit it!
No reason it shouldn't, and it's arguably the easiest hardware fix you can do since the SIM tray isn't soldered to the mainboard. Just keep in mind the following: when you purchase a replacement tray, don't throw out the old one until you peel the foam pad off the top of the connector and attach it to the new tray. That pad prevents the connector from popping off the socket it sits in.

I changed the SIM/SD card holder today, however, I am afraid it didn't take long for the no sim card error to return. Only difference today, it connects to the mobile network again after reboot.
The strange thing is, I don't get the SIM card error when inserting the original 02 Sim card, only when inserting a none 02 card (phone is unlocked)
Would this mean that the motherboard is defect?
Most likely, yes.

SGH i337M suddenly doesn't read SIM and has no popups.

So I recently sold my SGH i337m and the customer has been messaging me telling me that absolutely nothing happens when he inserts his SIM card. No popup saying no sim detected, nothing. When he goes to settings > more networks > mobile networks there's a pop-up that asks him to "insert sim card", and that's about it.
I know for a fact I sold him the phone WORKING as I made sure multiple times to test the phone with my SIM card and everything worked before I sold it to him.
I've been troubleshooting with him but unfortunately I have not come to a solution yet.
Things I have tried:
Remove battery & SIM then put back in
Reboot in safe mode
Wipe cache in recovery mode menu
Wipe data/factory reset in recovery mode menu
Insert another person's SIM (still no pop up, even when he uses a SIM from a locked company, it doesn't even ask for the unlock pin)
I'm hoping some of you guys have a solution because I've been looking all over the internet and no solutions have worked thus far.
Thanks in advance!
Hardware failure. The SIM card tray needs to be replaced. The part is inexpensive ($10), and it's easy to replace, so long as the person doing the work remembers to remove the foam pad on the original tray and place it on the new one.

Hey, I contacted a local shop about repairing the sim card tray and they told me it would cost $90 and that it was a 50/50 chance that it would work and is very risky due to having to "replace the I/C on the motherboard". I looked up SIM card trays online and the piece is $5. Are these guys bull****ting me? Could I replace the sim card tray myself with ease? I'm kind of confused. Thanks in advance.
Shortly after I had gotten my S4, the phone suddenly lost the ability to read a SIM card for this very reason. After purchasing a SIM tray off Amazon, I took the back off the S4 and swapped trays. The nice thing about the S4 is that it's easy to get into with a screwdriver. The place wanting to charge you $90 is charging for labor. Not bulls#!^, but pricey when you can do it yourself. I did it, at a cost of about $10 and 15 minutes of my time, and so can you.

Indeed its bullcrarp to charge so much. Do it yourself, order from Amazon or wherever it is fastest to you. China to US can be couple of weeks atleast.. takes 10 min max.

After guarantee repair p8 will not make calls

Hey guys.
I am a bit worried now...just recieved my phone back from Huawei repair. It wasn't charging properly (took a long lime) - they changed the battery and the mainboard. Also the changed the rear cam - the optical element got loose and could not focus. The phone never fall down. Everything was guarantee repair.
But...i can send/recieve SMS and it normaly connects to 4G. But i can not make any calls. I can call from different phone normaly and also to be super sure i let my SIM card change by operator - same problem...so it is not about SIM card. Also no MMI codes do not work for me and i can not read the status of Caller ID in the menu.
Running latest OTA update GRA-L09C432B398
vendor hw, country eu
kernel c900b398
can you please help me? i do not want to put it back on guarantee for other month...it worked perfectly before i gave it for repair
Thanks a lot
