I'm running Optimal ROM with no problems for a week. I just plugged the phone into the PC to transfer some pictures and the PC is not seeing the phone? Drivers are installed on the PC (flashed with Odin) but I re-installed on PC anyhow to no avail. Suggestions?

Hi,
I flashed True Stock 2.1 firmware onto my Bell Vibrant. When I try to connect my Vibrant to my computer, the computer does not recognize my phone (Kies and Odin). I have tried re-installing the drivers numerous times, from numerous sources and it is still not working. Unfortunately at this time, I am not rooted in the new ROM and cannot run my backup. The ROM seems to be running fine so far.
Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks.
recovery mode
The same thing happened to me and I found that if I put the phone into recovery mode and plugged USB in that the drivers automatically installed.
Fixed the problem by flashing a copy of the I9000UGJG8 onto the phone. Thanks for the help.
is it possibile to unroot the epic eb13 without having to use the cable/ odin / or anything computer related?
my phone is not working with odin or anything if i plug the usb in, but i am able to move stuff to and from my SD card by just putting the SD card in the computer.
took to sprint to try and get it repaired BUT cause they saw i was rooted they said they cant help me because i am rooted.
by the way i have tried VARIOUS methods of trying to get the usb to work by using 4 different usb cables. uninstall and install the drivers. different usb slots in the computer.
all keep showing
"USB device not recognized"
I had this problem when I was getting ready to upgrade from rooted DK18 to EB13. I wanted to backup my stuff first but the usb wouldn't recognize mass storage. I think I may have broke something when I started removing apk's and disabled touchwiz in favor of launcher pro. The phone worked fine but mass storage was not available. When I installed the Epic drivers on my laptop and connected my phone, the mass storage still wasn't recognized but Odin did see a connection.
If Odin still sees your connection on a different pc (disregard the windows error), then flash whatever firmware you need and all should be well.
Let me know if this helps.
PS....Don't forget to disconnect and reconnect your phone at least twice after installing drivers on a new pc. It takes at least 2 reconnects to install the drivers correctly...at least thats always been my experience.
im getting nothing in odin =/
Yes, but have you tried connecting to a different pc. I had the exact same issue on my desktop pc and then I tried on my laptop. For some unknown reason Odin worked fine (but still no mass storage).
At first I thought there was something wrong with my desktop's usb ports but after I flashed back to stock, suddenly mass storage was available on both my laptop and the original pc. Don't ask me why, it just worked.
Doesn't doing a hard reset make you lose ur root?

I installed the drivers yesterday by just plugging my phone in via usb and my pc was recognising my phone as the arc. Today I was having trouble with wireless sync so I uninstalled the drivers, rebooted etc but now it wont install them, just keeps failing.
Anyone know how to solve this?
Try rebooting the phone while keeping it connected to the PC via USB. The same thing happened to me today, reboot miraculously cured it. You might need to remove the Arc from your Device Manager first.
I know there are a million threads out there on bricking and odin and download mode and I have gone through almost all of them in the past 2 hours but I havent been able to find the solution to my problem.
I was odining back from trigger redux to JFD when the phone got stuck at flashing factoryfs.rfs. I hadnt checked repartition before flashing. After 20 mins of being stuck i disconnected the phone from my laptop and rebooted it.
It booted up to the pc and phone download mode screen. Since then my laptop running windows 7 64 bit is unable to recognize it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and restarted the machine a couple of times.
I have done multiple battery pulls to try to recognize the phone on windows and tried all 4 USB ports but it wont be recognized at all. As soon as I connect the phone to the laptop, it boots up to the pc and phone screen which means the phone can detect the pc but the pc cant detect the phone.
I've tried using the original samsung micro usb cable as well as a nokia micro usb cable which i usually use for charging the phone.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. I do not have access to other windows machines at the moment.
i just noticed that if i pull the battery while the phone is connected to the laptop, the phone and pc download screen stays on.
Can't get a Pc to recognize my N7, I have installed the correct drivers and was able to access as a mass storage before I began rooting / bootloader work. Whenever I try now I get the noise that something is connected via the USB port but that's it from a computer standpoint. The tablet says it is connected as a media device. I've tried reinstalling the drivers and doing a factory wipe and still no luck. Same issue on mac. any responses are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
