I've spent most of my free 20€ in various apps. At this moment I have 1,20€ remaining, but I all apps that I'm interested in are more expensive.
Is there a way to pay 1,20€ with google credit and the remainder with my credit card? I've been looking around but it just doesn't allow me to select google credit when I purchase an app that costs more than the remaining credit.

Theres no way of combining mate.
Just wait untill theres an app you see in the price range?
"Combining the Google Play credit with other payment methods
You do not need to use your entire credit at once; however, your Google Play credit cannot be combined with another payment method. You can continue to use the remaining balance until it reaches $0.00.
If your Google Play credit is insufficient to cover the cost of your purchase, you’ll see it listed in the drop-down menu on the checkout screen with the current balance and the words Insufficient funds. You’ll still be able to complete your purchase for the item you’ve selected using another accepted payment method."

Apologies if this isn't the right place for this, but I figured since I'm hoping to buy a N10, it would be ok.
I would like to get the 16gb N10 when it comes out. I just received an american express gift card for $350 from my work, which i had wanted to use towards the tablet.
Does anyone know of a way that I can use 2 forms of payment in the play store? There is a pretty simple solution for amazon (buy an amazon gift card, and use a regular credit card for the difference), but Google Play credit isn't applicable to devices (for some odd reason).
Otherwise, I guess I will have to wait until the 16gb version hits walmart (or another store), since I can't justify to my wife $100 for 16 extra gigs of storage.
Try it contracting google customer support to see if they can credit your account with it or set up two forms of payment.

I meant to update this thread, but forgot.
I called Google yesterday, and they told me that there is no way that they can take 2 forms of payment because if they did, and I requested a refund, they wouldn't know how much to put on which card...
Kind of a lame excuse to me, but i wasn't expecting much anyway. I wish Amazon would sell the N10, then I wouldn't have to worry about it, but as it is, I guess I will have to wait to pick up a 16GB in stores if it ever comes.
Why don't you try going to a walmart, or some malls have them, get a pre-paid Visa card that goes up to $500, use the american express gift card to put the $350 on it, then whatever you need to put the rest on it, and use that to get the Nexus tab.

wow, honestly never even occurred to me that i could do that. I'll give it a shot, thanks!
Np, goodluck.
I've called 3 local RS near me, neither of them had any info on the HTC One. OFC tried to get me to preorder the Crapsung S4 (no hate, just play on words ). I told each store the same thing; preorders started on the 5th, I can call corporate now and preorder (which I can). The thing is, none of the stores "have been given any communications about the HTC One or its preorders". I do not want to order it via corporate for 2 reasons. #1 I want the $50 Google Play credit *which most of that i use to donate to developers like Chad.Goodman and other hard-working individuals. And reason #2, I want it on the 19th, I don't want to wait a day or 2 or 3 before I can get it. #2 might sound silly, but it is my money and my device, so please do not trash-talk me about being impatient.
Does anyone have any insight in receiving the $50 credit and/or preordering?
Thanks guys.
i have a problem with saving money and since i don't usually have $740 in spending money in a paycheck, i bought $100 in gift cards the other day to "save" for this phone. the writing on the cards says it can be used for more than just apps, games, music, and movies. it mentions the Google Wallet app, so that's what i tried to use to redeem them. the section for gift cards is just a place to make a note of the gift card code. i called customer service and was informed that they do not allow gift cards to be used for device purchases. it does list a link on the back for full regulations, but the rest makes reading that seem unneeded. the store will not take them back even though they were not redeemed, so i am disputing the charges. i just wanted others to know in case they had the same idea. someone at Google should really send out stickers that tell people up front that they are not good for devices.
common sense really... just because it doesn't say you can/can't buy devices doesn't mean you can. Knowing Google if you push hard enough they might refund you and disable the gift card.
It does suck... next time if you're going to spend that much money on something do a little research and it will help you in the long run.
I work in retail and I can tell you no store will ever take gift cards back. We make absolutely no money on those purchases. We are just the middle man. It's always recommended to check the full limitations of the cards before purchasing them because stores can't return them.

Wow that smacks, but it really sounds like a case of no research done, i mean really i don't think anyone uses gift cards except in small amounts and during holiday season for novelty gifts.
Also if you can't save money in your current account why did you not set up a direct debit to another account ?????

The stores make a commission on the sale of the cards, so they do make money. I manage a store, I see it on my bottom line at the end of each period. But we still don't take returns on them, but that is more the gift cards rule than hours because there is no way to deactivate a card.

Well it's nothing really huge on profits, at least for my job, but yea the returns are slim to none. I've done them on very rare occasions

i would get into further contact with google regarding your issue, if you speak to a regular rep, request to speak with a manager. Obviously they want your money in one for or another. If you apply yourself you may be able to strike some sort of conclusion to your problem
I remember someone trying to do this before. Like you realized, it's a no go. Hopefully Google can do something for you, but at the end of the day, you might be be stuck with the gift cards. Maybe you can take a hit, and sell the gift cards for $90?

For those saying do research, it's only because you already knew. I knew because I had read it before. I mean think about it. Who would think a store would limit what you could buy with a freak'n gift card? This isn't the OP's fault. It's a stupid rule and google should refund him.
just a couple thoughts on this...

maybe you should start trying to save money instead of blowing it on a phone? there are these really cool things called savings accounts, they let you transfer money into them so you can save money, and some even earn you a tiny bit back too.

why would you ever think that buying something is equal to saving? the two actions are complete opposites.

it's called "fine print", it details everything that you can and can't do with the card that they sell.
sorry for being an a-hole... but you brought this on yourself, and are now committing a fraud by disputing charges that you willingly made.

Exactly.. we know because we have read it.. something he should have done.
If you sign a contract for something then get f**ked over because you didnt read it all.. whose fault is that? Yours of course.
You can't have everything dished out on a plate for you in life.
Savings????
I know that Savings are important but if you get addicted to purchase something, it is not that easy to save money.....
Although Best of Luck with your savings.

The terms aren't that long. And it's stated pretty clearly.
Chalk it up to a lesson learned and be glad it was only a hundred bucks and not a car, home or other large purchase.

That's like buying an iTunes gift card and trying to buy an iphone with it.. Just seems common sense
Anyways.. Your fault for assuming with such a large amount of money
not to play devils advocate but Ive never understood the thought process behind not accepting gift cards as cash.
If you pay $100 to get a google play gift card.. google gets that $100. $100 is $100 regardless of how its paid so why would google say Hey we will take your $100 in cash/credit card/paypal etc which has credit card processing fees associated with it and not take gift card balances which were paid the same? they already have the money so what gives? Maybe I myself dont understand how gift cards work with Google and iTunes. Is there more to the actual money exchange and where it ends up then most people know about?

Give him a break, he wants to buy this phone out right. Is it the smartest thing in the world? No, but what ever we live in a capitalist society.
He made it quote clear that he want to save just enough to buy this phone. People save a set amount of money with full intention of spending it on a purchase they can't afford upfront.
I think you should be able to use these cards, but you can't so nothing you can do about it?
---------- Post added at 02:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:28 AM ----------
There are a few options, t mobile prepaid, any prepaid debit card, savings...in the meantime I would sell these cards for cash and expect a loss....or go crazy google play store purchases lol
Very sorry that your purchase did not work.
XDA does not condone fraudulent actions.
This is why the first rule of XDA is to search first.

I already have about $50 in Play Store Credit. I'll get another $100 from two Nexi purchases. I wish there was a way to convert that credit into Google Play Store Gift Cards so I can gift them. It's still a Google Play Store Gift card and goes straight to Google. I just don't understand why Google doesn't allow us to do something this simple and obvious. Anyone have any workarounds to make something like this possible?
I saw some suggestions on creating an App that takes in-app payments and using it. Seems convoluted and I'd lose 30%. But I guess I may just try that.
That is convoluted, but if you were going to not be able to use it at all in a year it would be better than losing it.
Edit: does it work to pay for Google Music? Maybe try that?
Because if they allowed you to exchange them for a physical gift card you can resell them to a number of sites that buy gift cards. Most if not all of them do not accept e-gift cards or cards that expire like the Nexus gift.
Ebay does not allow selling e-gift cards either (although plenty do). I'm not sure what happens if you get flagged on eBay selling an e-gift card.
To be honest I don't really know what the credit can be used for. I guess whatever crap that's on the play store like music and movies which I can probably get for free otherwise?
I'll likely just use it to support app developers and buy paid versions of their stuff.

I'm pretty sure you are just emailed a code for the $50 when ordering the phones. So all you have to do is give that code to the person you want to gift it too and they redeem it

That's right. I already got the code for the 6P which will arrive tomorrow. The problem with the $50 code is that it's a lot for a single person. But if I could have split it into 2 $25 or the $100 into 5 $20, it would make a much easier gift to give to family and friends.
I already have paid apps for any apps that I use. I have a few in the wish list, but nothing really compelling. I'm never going to buy any of the ridiculously priced movies. I get most of my music from Amazon. But most of my music is really ripped from my CDs. Google doesn't have a particularly good India music collection.

That's a good point. I hadn't considered that. Gift cards don't expire. These would. But I wish I could have at least split up the Play Credit. Oh well.
