How is it possible to save Nandroid backups directly to PC. Think the tech will be over my head but would like to know.
Thanks

Hi guys
Just need a backup software to backup my contacts and messages.
I use PPC Pim Backup, but it hangs now and am unable to backup stuff to flash my ROM
is there any OTHER software that'll help me do the same?
Also, is there any software that'll allow me to edit/view my messages/ contacts from my PC after taking backup or directly using my PC?
TIA guys!!

Can I use USB to do a copy of all files and directories to my PC then use that as a restore to bring my phone back to same state as now if I change from WM 6.5 to Android and have a problem?
I'm new to this and am just getting my feet wet.
No, you need spb backup, also good to do secondary backup of mail & contacts via PIM BackUp or iMobileTools sms/contacts backup or similar.
Thanks for the info. I've now done both.
I've never used a Nandroid backup to recover everything. I usually just stick with Titanium Backup. Lets say I decide to replace my TF because of light bleed. Can I recover from a Nandroid backup I created on my first TF? Will the backup from the old device work on the new device or are these backups tied to a specific serial number?
sigh... The only time anyone answers my questions is when I hijack someone else's thread and ask it when it's unrelated.
Its generally not a good idea to use nandroid backups across devices. You could muck some things up. Titanium backup would be a better way to go.

I'm not an expert by any means, perhaps someone with more knowledge will make sure that I'm correct or wrong here?
My understanding is that a nandroid will take an exact image of your device at that given point in time and it'll create a checksum for the backup, so as long as the backup and the checksum match and your devices hardware is the same I can't see a problem restoring to an identical machine.
That's all presuming that you've got the new device rooted and have CWM on it and that you have copied the clockworkmod backup/restore folder to your SD card/PC.
Edit: I should have clarified what exactly it is that you want to back up, if it's just apps and their settings then I'd go for Titanium too. Doesn't your Google account backup and restore apps too?
Nandroid backups do work across devices, and if you really wanted, you could restore them on new devices. Not the best idea, but it is possible.
If you use a nandroid backup, I would install the same rom as the first, then advance restore data only
People with android who know what Titanium backup is. Is there a software like TI backup for windows. That allows you to backup software plus data and to choose what you want to restore?
It's sort of built in. Windows backup... however, you'll need an external drive. :good:

titanium backup is much closer to Mac Time machine than microsoft backup, wich back up the whole drive or the whole apps, not just one by one. And also for every everytime has failed, no one of the backup in all my cmputers did restore propperly. Every times let mi an error in 6 different computer. Acronis is much better.
Windows has several ways of backing up stuff:
1) The good old windows backup...
2) System restore (which kinda runs like a backup up, one usually does a system restore before they do a full windows restore.)
3) Skydrive (for metro-apps only, pictures, music, documents and other personal files.)
All of which are built-in
i think u need cloneapp
Hi everyone,
i was wondering what would be the best software for PC (Windows 8.1 x64) that can backup my i9505 (4.4.2) like contacts, apps, data of apps etc. and that the backup stays stored on the PC which i can later (after changing the ROM) restore to my phone?
Thanks in advance
