Hello everyone. If someone could help me that would be great. I have a Galaxy S4 GTI9505. If anyone can supply me with a 4.2.2 debrick image, it would really be appreciated. I do have a 4.4.2 128 MB image but it is not working. I also have a lot of debrick images if someone can help me. It is a Quad-core 1.9 GHz Krait 300 CPU, Adreno 320 GPU; Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset so it shouldn’t need a test point to force into download mode. I’m assuming the aboot is different on the lollipop rom and that is why I can’t get it to download mode. Can someone please take time out to help me?
To get the image you have to have a rooted Galaxy S4 on 4.2.2, and have to install busybox, and a simple syntax program like terminal emulator which you would have to install. You also would have to install root explorer. These are all android apps with the extension .apk. Once those 3 programs are installed you would have to press terminal emulator and enter this code:
Su (press enter) to get super use access, then on the next command type just like this
busybox dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/debrick.img bs=1M count=128
The image which will be put on the “sdcard” of the phone. Not the external sdcard but the internal sd card.
Then use root explorer to navigate to the root of the sdcard and copy it to let’s say your download folder.
Then plug in the phone and copy it onto your computer to copy on your desktop. Once you have the image then if you can send it to [email protected] it would be appreciated.
Please someone do not ignore this and help me. You would be actually helping a lot of people that need this image. Thank you.

Hi and thank you for using XDA Assist
We redirected your thread to a right section.
Good luck!
128 MB? As far as I know gmail has a file attachment size limit.
do you have the samsung galaxy s4 GTI9505 debrick image if so you can send me the file in the xda develpers
No. I'm on a 5.1.1 custom rom.
A bigger issue is this: who is still running 4.2.2 on an I9505 Galaxy S4 two years after its introduction? Finding a debrick image for such an old version of Android is going to be very difficult.
can you make me a 5.1.1 debrick image may be it would work

Can I ask what you are using that debrick image for? And how you are using it?
You have to find someone that still runs a stock 4.2.2. Chances of finding someone like that and with having the required skills to extract the image are really slim. People that are still on 4.2.2. are not the most technical.
I wish I could help you, but we can't downgrade anymore due to the bootloader.
just give me one debrick image for samsung galaxy s4 i know how to downgrade the bootloader i have a program and restore it back to 4.2.2
You're so desperate that you're not reading what people are writing. No one here is likely to have an Android 4.2.2 debrick image because none of us are running Android 4.2.2. We cannot downgrade to that version of Android any more to get you one.
Repeatedly asking us if we have an image is not productive. We don't have one, cannot get one, and the people most likely to be able to make you one are not here.

Hello .
Posting a tutorial on how to create a dump out of your stock rom, in case you delete some apps or modify some settings.
ALRIGHT LETS START:
STEP ONE:
Alright, so you want to make a backup of your phone software, but dont know what to do. Its simple, download the package the Android SDK from google and copy it to C:\ drive. Once you have download it, make sure you have Java installed in your system or else it will not work. After everything is done, open the program and install these two packages:
1. Android SDK Tools, revision 6
2. USB Driver package, revision3 ([COLOR="Red"IMP: Its important that the USB driver installed shows up as Composite Android Debug Device, else it wont work. ][/COLOR]
What Android SDK ?? Read about it here: [url]http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html[/url]
Why Android SDK ? Because: it has the [COLOR="red"]android debug shell[/COLOR] which you require before communicating with your android phone. So download it ! From here:
STEP TWO:
Download Busybox from here : http://rapidshare.com/files/407238531/busybox What is Busybox ?? Read about it here: http://www.busybox.net/
MD5 Signature: C5B76280434EEF49310AD8F1810B10B2
STEP THREE:
One you have downloaded busybox, copy it to the C:\ drive of your computer and then follow the next step. The next step is to open the Command Prompt ( type cmd in the Run prompt ) if using Vista right click on "Run as Administrator".
Assuming you are the root of C:\
Type: C:\cd android-sdk-windows
-> then
Type: C:\android-sdk-windows\ cd tools
-> if you have android debug shell and USB drivers properly installed
Type: adb devices
Now your device will show up as a binary number .. Success ! if it doesn't show up you need to install the drivers again or something else is wrong.
STEP FOUR:
Now once your device shows up, we will need to download the busybox from the computer to the phone. Since we can write anything in the /data/local portion of the android system we will copy the busybox file to the android device.
Type: adb push busybox /data/local/busybox
Once it has been copied to your device issue this command.
Type: adb shell This coomand is issued to go to your mobile's terminal where you can issue commands internally to the phone.
--> then
Type: cd /sdcard This command is given inorder to go to the sdcard ( i.e the internal storage of your phone )
--> then
Type: chmod 755 /data/local/busybox This command is issued to set user -rwxrwxr-x permissions to the file.
--> then
Finally, issue this command.
Type: /data/local/busybox tar cvf Samsung.tar /system This command is given to copy and tar the system folder where all the stock applications and programs are and to create a dump of that system folder.
STEP FIVE:
Job Done !!
The Samsung.tar file can be copied to the computer now. Have fun.
this is perfect, as i want to create a dump of my original ROM
A dump is simply a backup of your original ROM right?
thats good news if it is indeed a a backup of the stock firmware.
i want to back up my warranty firmware!

it is only a backup of your stock apps and driver if so however it doesnt convert the files into a flashable rom version.
is there a way for us to backup the firmware?? (not just stock apps)

Correct. We most likely won't be able to actually perform a complete backup until Nandroid works on the handset.
Too bad, the title was very promising but what you show is just an backup archive of the system.
BTW, there is no guarantee that restoring it will produce a usable phone, because kernel, datas, modem baseband etc won't be restored too !
But this can be useful to restore some file after a mistake done on /system files.

im working on creating a stock rom ... may be some happy results and happy faces. who knows . keep sticked !
uploading dump again .. please wait.
So, Can i just select this dump in Odin and it will recover to stock firmware. Quite confused here.
The file size is 275 megs , so is it only for apps? Have you flashed with this dump. Nice work so far. THanks.
Edit: Just realised the dump option in Odin is for dumping my rom , not loading one.
So stuck with this until Samsung update. Huh!
Is this the same procedure as making a backup /efs?
I've been searching the forum for hours and this is the only thing I could find that looked anything like it.
This won't work
No, no and no !!
This procedure will not backup your stock ROM.
A complete rom consists in:
- a primary bootloader.
- a secondary bootloader.
- an initrd image with the kernel.
- a rootfs (the /system partition).
- an efs partition.
- a binary radio firmware.
There is no known method to backup all the flash partitions and transform them into proper files that can be reflashed with Odin or Heimdall.

+1.. The thread is misleading.. This doesn't accomplish anything! You really think people in the "Android Development" section don't know about tar?
Did anyone already managed to get the built-in dump function from Odin working?
With Odin v1.3 there was the possibility to decide whether to dump AP RAM or AP NAND (followed by an ID).
With Odin v1.52 you can't choose this anymore. It will only dump AP NAND.
But my first attempts were unfortunately not very promising
Hi All,
I wanted to update my ideos s7-104 (best buy US) to the Joenilan froyo fusion rom and made one mistake along the way. I copied the .zip file to the external sd card not the internal sd card. So zip file is not available to CWM (2.5.1.8). I tried manually pushing the file to the tablet with ADB (from computer) but the tablet is not visible to the system (windows 7 64bit with drivers installed, I could not get HiSuite to install with upgrade.cmd). This is strange becasue the Upgrade utility which uses adb flashes the rom just fine. Of course I wiped the system and reformatted the device per the instructions. Now when the unit boots it goes the fastboot and then stops with option to reboot with back/home which works. I don't think the unit is bricked just yet since I can still get into the CWM recovery.
Does anyone have any bright ideas to move the Ideos S7 Froyo v1.3-EXT4 Stable.zip to the internal sdcard?
Thanks for all the useful information previously posted!

Hi, let see if i can help you, if you have a backup restore, if you dont that implies some work, i dont use windows i prefer linux, you can try to create a virtual machine, with windows xp or linux ubuntu and then with fastboot commands push the file to sd card.
Another way, get the oficial rom for your tablet copy the file to ext-sdcard and follow the install instrutions of the rom, you must create the dload directory in ext-sdcard.
it look like you lost the system files and the kernel of the device, so it boot in to fastboot, fastboot does not acept adb, but fastboot has some commands to copy kernel and system file to the device, it cant copy a zip file, must be a img file.
Version 6.0.1 of cwm reads update files from ext-sdcard so you can also try to install that recovery version with fastboot.
Remember: it always a good idea to have a backup before doing anything.
Hope that helps.

EDIT: If you are coming here for the first time, this guide should still work, but @PorygonZRocks has created a flashable zip that should deal with a lot of these issues automatically. You can check out his post here:

This method will indirectly allow you to root the LG Gpad v410 after it has been upgraded to Lollipop 5.1.1. Yes. Rooting LG v410 Lollipop. It's through a downgrade, but it works.
It took a while to get working, but here's how I did it. The process is straightforward, but the details matter greatly. You will brick your device if you mess up. Please read everything *first* before you do anything. Be sure you understand the process. I'll try to explain what's going on along the way.
An external SD card is extremely helpful for this process. You *could* adb push everything, but that will tedious.
First, you need some files.
The 4.4.2 KDZ which is a TEST OS, but it can be rooted and it downgrades to a Bump'able bootlaoder:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-pad-10/general/kdz-lg-g-pad-7-0-v410-t3224867

Android LG Drivers:

Parted for Android. You can probably find it other places, but I found this file:https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/84115590/LG%20G2%2016GB%20Solution/sdparted-recovery-all-files.zip
EDIT: There seems to be a lot of confusion here. My bad. All you need is the file named "parted" from this zip file - nothing else. Just put that one file in the root of your external SD card.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/84115590/LG G2 16GB Solution/sdparted-recovery-all-files.zip linked from here: http://www.**********.com/your-32gb-lg-g2-shows-only-16gb-storage-space-heres-the-fix/
EDIT2: The dropbox link is down. I've attached the file directly.
The Candy5 ROM (This will potentially save you some manual steps. Somewhat optional, but highly recommended):

TWRP for the v410:

LG One Click Root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951
(You may use Purple Drake or whatever else you want. They all use the same root script as this does and the GUI is helpful for novices.)
Android SDK (specifically adb.exe. After installing go to SDK Manager and ensure that Android SDK Platform Tools is checked):
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
For clarification below, when I have commands in "quotes" they are Windows commands. When they are in `backticks` they are commands that you run inside of ADB which actually run on your device....as root. Root can screw things up. Please be extra cautious. If you blame me for messing up your device I will laugh at you. But that's not gonna happen, right? Good. Let's go.
Now that you have everything, put it all into a folder where you can access it easily.
Install the LG Drivers.
Install Android SDK (or otherwise get adb.exe).
Extract all of the archives.
Move the KDZ to the LG Flash Tool 2014 folder.
Put the tablet into Download Mode by powering it off, holding VolUp, and plugging in the USB cable. Press VolUP when instructed. You must be in Download mode before continuing.
Run LGFlashTool2014.exe. Select the KDZ file. Click "CSE Flash". Click "Start". Select "English" and click OK. Do not change anything else.
WAIT for the flash to continue. If you really want to brick your device, here's a good opportunity.
The device will reboot into Android 4.4.2. You will only have 4GB of internal storage at this point. DON'T PANIC! We are fixing it.
Enable USB debugging.
Connect the device.
Install and run LG One Click Root. Wait for the device to be rooted before proceeding.
Copy the Flashify apk, TWRP image, and Candy5 ROM to your external SD card.
Install Flashify and flash TWRP to the recovery partition.
Use the Flashify menu to reboot in to recovery.
DON'T PANIC! You will get white vertical lines on the boot screen from now on. They only show up during boot animations. A small price to pay. This may be fixed at a later date. for the time being! Thanks to marcsoup's first post ever, we have a fix! Details below. PLEASE click this link and thank him!
Things get tricky here. Copy parted to your external SD card and then run "adb shell" from Windows to get a shell in TWRP.
In TWRP, unmount /data by tapping Mount > uncheck Data.
`cp /sdcard/parted /sbin/` This copies the parted binary to /sbin so it can be executed in the path. I had trouble running `/sdcard/parted`, but YMMV.
`chmod +x /sbin/parted` Make it executable.
`parted /dev/block/mmcblk0` Run parted against the internal mmc
`p` Prints the partition table.
`rm 34` Deletes partition 34 labeled "grow". This is the root of our problem. The KDZ apparently only creates a 4GB partition, I assume so the test build has maximum compatibility with all sized devices.
`rm 33` Deletes partition 33 "userdata"
`p` Print to verify
`mkpartfs` Create a partition and put a filesystem on it. If we only expand the partition it won't help us because the filesystem is still only 4 GB.
a) name: userdata
b) type: ext2 (the tool only supports ext2. This is ok for now.)
c) start: 3439MB (the end of part 32. IT MAY BE DIFFERENT FOR YOU!) Be sure you do not omit the MB part otherwise the offset will overwrite another critical partition.
d) end: 15.8GB (where "grow" ended above. IT MAY BE DIFFERENT FOR YOU!) Be sure you do not omit the GB part otherwise the offset will overwrite another critical partition.
`p` Verify. For me it did not name the partition properly. Gotta fix that.
(if necessary) `name 33 userdata` This is critical for mount to find it in /dev/block/platform/msm.sdcc.1/by-name/ on some/all ROMS.
`p`. Verify one last time. Compare it to my partition table in the attachments. If you want to brick, delete some random partitions here.
Flash Candy5 with TWRP. It's only 239 MB, so it will flash quickly. I do this because Candy5 will reformat mmcblk0p33 from ext2 to ext4 for you. It does this as part of it's system boot, apparently. If you install a different ROM that does not do this, you can reformat it by running `make_ext4fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p33`. If your ROM does not have make_ext4, it likely has some differnt method to make an EXT4 filesystem. `/system/bin/mke2fs -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p33` may work better. Just flash Candy5 and be done with it.
Tap Wipe > Swipe to Factory Reset.
Tap Reboot > System.
WAIT!!! It will take a minute for the ROM to start the first time. You will have white lines and and possibly a white screen. WAIT. It's moving the DEX files to cache, formatting a partition, creating default folders on the internal storage, and several other things. WAIT! When the screen goes dim or turns off then it's ready.
Cycle the display or turn it on. You should be at the Candy5 lock screen.
USB debugging is on by default. Run "adb shell".
`mount | grep userdata` Make sure mmcblk0p33 is mounted.
`df` Make sure /data is 11.3 GB (or whatever size it is on non-16GB devices).
HELL YEAH, you downgraded, rooted, and fixed the partition problem. Enjoy your tablet!
Thanks to dopekid313 for finding the KDZ.
Thanks to timmytim for Candy5.
Thanks to the creators of the root script, flashify, TWRP, and XDA for being so awesome.
Thanks to marcsoup for fixing a fix to the white lines.
Thanks to navin56 for the partition dumps. PLEASE thank his post!
White lines fix.
What we are going to do is flash the aboot partition with the stock image provided by navin56. I've removed the extra files from the dump, so simply download aboot.img.7z below. Unzip it using 7zip.
These commands are to be run in TWRP. Reboot to TWRP recovery and connect with "adb shell". All of the following commands will be run in ADB under TWRP. If you cannot figure out how to get here, please post in the thread and someone will help you. Onward:
If you do everything correctly then you don't have to reflash your ROM and you won't lose data. This process can be done any time after flashing the KDZ, even before you follow the steps above to resize the userdata partition. It's a completely separate process.
Unzip aboot.img.7z so you have the file named aboot.img. You should also make sure that aboot.img's MD5 sum is e97431a14d1cee3e9edba513be8e2b52. Do not flash the 7z file. Please.
Copy aboot.img to your external SD card. It should live at /sdcard/aboot.img
Boot to TWRP and run "adb shell"
`ls -al /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/` Let's make sure we are flashing the right partition. On my device "aboot" is /dev/block/mmcblk0p6. You should verify this on your device or you WILL brick your tablet.
`dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 of=/sdcard/aboot-fukt.img` Let's back up our current aboot partition before we go flashing things just in case there are unintended consequences later. Be sure you have the same partition that "aboot" referred to in the 4th step or you have just backed up the wrong partition.
`dd if=/sdcard/aboot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6` Be sure the file exists, is the correct aboot.img, and you are flashing the right partition. You have been warned!!
Reboot TWRP and enjoy your boot animations again.
If I missed anything, please let me know. As far as I know this is the very first tutorial that details what is necessary to accomplish this. Please hit the Thanks button on every thread that you visit to download files!
FAQ:
Q: Why do I only have 11.3 GB of space when my device is 16GB?
A: The entire internal SD card (eMMC) is 16 GB. Gotta have someplace to install the bootloader, recovery, android, the modem OS, the secondary bootloader, the cache, the resource and power manager, and all of the other partitions necessary for the table to operate. Please look at the second screenshot in the OP. All of those 33 partitions take up room on the internal card. Fortunately ALL of those partitions ONLY take up about 4.4 GB. Hence the 'userdata' partition is ~11.3 GB.
If anyone wants to use my work to create a flashable zip to make it easier for novices, please do so. My problem is solved and I don't have the time to create the zip. Please post any questions and I'll gladly answer them! I'm so stoked that we have a usable downgrade method now!
Thank You, Worked Great
Thanks for making this I was gonna do it but was to lazy lol and thanks for linking my thread and giving cred instead of just linking straight to the kdz thank you

Of course! If you hadn't obtained the firmware then we'd all still be looking for a solution. It pisses me off to no end when people try to take credit for other people's work. We all just need to realize and acknowledge that we are simply standing on the shoulders of those who did the work necessary for each of us to do our work.
I just noticed since we formatted the userdata it screws up TWRP. It won't mount Data and it says the settings are corrupted

Is this after you've rebooted into Candy5 and the partition is reformatted as ext4 (or you've done so manually)? TWRP may not be able to mount an ext2 partition.
EDIT: I just tested this. Following my instructions and flashing to Candy5, TWRP sees mmcblk0p33 (userdata) as the full size and mounts it at /emmc.
For clarification, after you run the parted commands, it will mess with the partition table and TWRP will most likely not be able to see it to remount it - at least not until after a reboot. This is why you need an external SD card from which to install ROMs.
/data not mounted
Edit: nevermind. The partition 33 was still ext2. I had to run make_ext4fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p33 and now I am able to mount /data. Thanks.
Thanks for taking the time to help us.
I followed the steps and till 33 I am good. But once I am in Candy5, I am not able to adb shell (adb not recognizing device eventhough usb debugging is on). I rebooted to recovery and adb works there. But my /data partition is not enabled in TWRP. I am not able to check it either under Mount in TWRP.
Code:
mount | grep userdata
is empty
Code:
df
does not show data
I tried this and my tablet bootlooped. I was able to get into fastboot and restore. I would GREATLY appreciate it if someone who has the time, would kindly donate their valuable time to into making an exe zip or something.

At what point did it bootloop? What was the last step that you took before rebooting?
Zip
I would really appreciate a zip file as I have never been savvy with adb and for whatever reason it doesn't want to work on Windows 10.

A zip file for what part? The only part that requires ADB directly is to fix the internal storage. You absolutely have to flash the KDZ and then root before you can do anything. If you are on 5.x then you have no possible way to root, much less flash a zip file.
If you tell me what exactly you are having issues with I will try to help.

The adb part is the part im having issue with. Everything else is flashed already. I was wondering if you could make a zip for the adb part so I can just flash it through twrp.
thanks for the great help. it did work perfectly to regain the lost space.
what about white lines ? is there any solution for that problem ?
I have tried flashing back stock recovery extracted from kdz, dd' but didn't help.
Now i am thinking of flashing back the aboot.bin extracted from original kdz or i can dump ".img" from another working device. (i have 4 similar devices)
what is your opinion i m not a developer and i need your advise. should i go ahead and which partition should i dd ? aboot or abootb or boot ?
regards

I have no solid evidence of this, but I suspect that the white lines are caused by a display driver issue where when the bootloader hands over control of the display to the kernel it doesn't get reinitialized properly. I have no ideas as to how to get rid of that at the moment but if I stumble across something I'll be sure to post here.
While I'm not an Android developer, I've been a Linux admin for 10+ years and have a lot of experience with Android devices. I'd be really hesitant to go flashing things ad hoc. While Download Mode may save you if you flash the wrong thing, I'm not entirely sure what the limitations that you may run in to with a locked bootloader are.
After having this device for months on 5.x and FINALLY being able to downgrade and run custom ROMs with root, not seeing a boot animation is a pittance to pay. But I'll keep looking.
i have same problem entered in TWRP but when ADB sheel thorough DP tools it didn't connect to my device. i m also using windows 10
Do I need to Re-mount Data ? I press format data button at TWRP and mount data. It looks work great.
After all process, it shows 16Gb total at storage, 11.04GB available. it works perfectly.
I need the stock V41010d, so I reflash the stock rom rooted at [ROM][STOCK](V410 ONLY)KOT49I.V4101d | 4.4.2 | Rooted + Busybox
Now, my Gpad is at stock V41010d, but I have a question about the boot screen, is it still with white lines and white screen? Any method to fix it?
Hello,
Thanks for the great work. unfortunately I am facing some difficulty, starting from step# 16 "Things get tricky here", how to run"adb shell in TWRP?
also can I use minimal_adb_fastboot_v1.1.3_setup.exe as mentioned in the link in the OP http://www.droidviews.com/your-32gb-lg-g2-shows-only-16gb-storage-space-heres-the-fix/ ?
also I noticed the path have been used includes 'parted' folder, but the folder I have after unzipping the parted zip called 'sdparted-recovery-all-files', do I rename the folder to 'parted' instead?
please help and excuse my broken English.
I'm also having trouble with the adb shell step. When my device is powered on normally, adb commands work. However, in TWRP mode my computer can't recognize the tablet, mount properly, and copy over parted. All the steps have been identical to this point. Any ideas?

You shouldn't need to remount or format data. The parted command nukes the filesystem and creates a new one formatted as ext2. At this point the running kernel has the old partition table loaded and won't know that the partition has been extended. Simply flash Candy5 and reboot at this point and it will reformat the userdata partition.
See above for the white lines during the boot animation. Known issue, no fix in sight, doesn't really matter.

You only need the sdparted-recover-all-files.zip from that site. "parted" is not a folder, but the binary (without a file extension) inside of that zip file. Copy that file to /sbin and you are in business.

I'd recommend installing the SDK and pulling the drivers from that. Alternatively, you can try the drivers here: https://github.com/koush/UniversalAdbDriver.
Technically, when I ran the "parted" commands I was actually booted in to rooted 4.4.2 from the KDZ; I wasn't actually in TWRP. It's just not a very recommended way of going about it. I explained how to run all of this from TWRP, but there's no technical reason that you *can't* run this from Android. You just *shouldn't* because you can't cleanly unmount the filesystem and it theoretically could cause filesystem corruption. I just figured that I don't care about that partition getting corrupted since it's getting wiped out.
Hello good peoples of Xda ,
I just purchased a Note 3 verizon I believe 900v on swappa It will arive in the next few day's and I want to get all my ducks in a row by that I mean aquire all the root and unlocking tools nessary for a best practices root and if nessary unlocking of my boot loader.
Goals for root are mostly to debloat the phone and hotspot mod's for no hassle teathering.
I may dip my toes into custom rom for this phone but mostly I am just looking for a clean lean experiance for my note 3. I have been pouring over the many many pages of the various rooting guids and I am just not sure witch method to use is the safest / most reliable .
thank you for your time and helpful suggestions.
This is what I have found so far.
ArabicToolApp : Root for lolipop
Odin3 v3.12.3 : flash tool is this latest ? best to use ?
Samsung usb drivers v1.5.45.0 : are these the proper drivers to install ?
You should start by figuring out which firmware release it has on it.
If it has PL1 (the newest security release, circa 2017/01/15), there will be no rooting for you... unless you manage to create a new exploit.
OB6 and OF1 - (one of) the yemen tool(s)**
NK1 - no root available ( and can't be rolled backwards w/ Odin, only NK1 or higher )
NJ6 - no root available? ( Try towelroot, or you can downgrade to NC4 using Odin )
MI9/MJ7/MJE/NC2(leak)/NC4 - Towelroot v3
For which bootloader unlock binary to use, see here.
Can't help you out with USB drivers, I don't remember what I used. afaik, they will either work 100% or not work at all, so you just need to get something working.
I've never used anything but Odin 3.0.9. Can't tell you if the version you mention is "better".
good luck
** i've never rooted OB6 or OF1, so can't give you any advice about which to use. Feel free to read the related threads. In my (casual) reading of those threads, it is nearly impossible to intuit out why some people have problems and others do not. Mostly because the reporting is not sufficiently detailed.

Your right, after thinking about my post I realized there were 2 many variables that I need to know before I ask for help. So once I recieve the phone and if it's fully functional I will find out what firmware it has and what the cid it has and will post a follow up if I need help.
P.S thank you for the concise jist of what is and is not possible with the various firmware's.
Recieved my phone.
I got my note 3 and boy is it just a wonderful device. SM-900v running OF1 firmware, and My Cid is 15 so is all good.
procedurs completed.
I got root from useing the yemem tool.
and have tryed some debloating removed the NFL apk as a test with Tit.backup.
dissabled ota updates, I made a copy of the update.zip (that was downloaded with out me asking it too. I assume that this update.zip is the new PL4 firmware )and deleted it. renamed the fota.apk's with a .bak
not really sure if I should unlock the the bootloader I would love to have twerp.
Could anyone point me at a good debloating script ?
LOVE LOVE LOVE my note 3.
I also have a zero lemon battery/case combo on the way.
PL1 not PL4
See here. Might be dated - stuff tends to move around from release to release.
You should probably also freeze SDM.* and SysScope.* (in addition to LocalFOTA)**
There is a small permanent downside to unlocking - the blowing of the Knox Warranty Flag means that you will never be able to use Knox Secure containers, even if you did a full stock flash with Odin. Not sure how important this is to folks using the phone as a personal device (as opposed to a corporate device).
Operating with a rooted-stock device with a locked bootloader usually progresses through a customary arc - especially with new rooters, but also with experienced folks - where the user one day does some incremental mod that boot-loops the Android UI. At that point there is no means to reverse the small change. (You can't get in via "adb" as it's daemon isn't started yet, and even if it were, the fact that it is in secure mode means that you would have to have a stable UI in order to confirm the connection.) As there is no rooted secondary boot available (i.e., a custom recovery), there is no way to perform repairs, and a trip back to Odin is in store for the owner. Worse yet, a backup has never been made... so all customizations are all lost and must be re-created completely from scratch.
** this is a good idea if you unlock and install a custom recovery: (although TWRP may detect it and emasculate it automatically)
Code:
su
chmod 0000 /system/bin/install-recovery.sh

Right PL1 ok.
Well I decided in for a penney in for a pound and have sucessfully unlocked my boot loader, had no issues.
my question now is how do I install twerp I have downloaded
twerp-3.0.2-0-hltevzw-4.4
and twerp 3.0.2-1-hlte.img.tar
I think I need to install the tar file.
but I don't know how. I have odin but not sure if that is the right program to use. I think I read where somone installed twerp with flashify or somthing like that.
What should I do ?

man up and use a root prompt command line. It's a single command.
Code:
dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p15 if=/sdcard/twrp-3.0.2-0-hltevzw-4.4.img bs=2048
( assuming that you put the twrp .img file in the /sdcard folder. If it was in the download folder, then if=/sdcard/Download/twrp-3.0.2-0-hltevzw-4.4.img )
Note there are absolutely, positively no spaces anywhere in "mmcblk0p15". Critically important.
The above command writes a raw binary data (the .img file) to the 15th partition of the mmcblk0 device - the flash memory chip. You can do this with boot images (such as custom recoveries) or a few other binary images, but typically not with ext4 or other filesystems.
Note this command could be extremely dangerous if you made a mistake. If you were to write data someplace else it could be a permanent disaster. So cut-n-paste to be safest (without a new-line), and then double- and triple- check the command for typos before you hit the enter key.
FYI, you can see what the partition mapping is by doing a folder listing
Code:
ls -ld /dev/block/platform/*1/by-name/*
The partitioning scheme varies from android device to android device; but on the SM-N900V the recovery partition is the 15th partition. (On other devices it might be something different).

That works.
Or a terminal emulator.
All you need is to put the file on your (internal, pseudo-) /sdcard, "su", and "dd".
For extra credit, make sure to compute a file checksum (e.g. "md5sum") every time you copy the original .img file to a new location and especially prior to flashing. That safeguards against a bad copy operation, crappy flash memory, etc.
Stock ROMs might not have a "md5sum" binary in /system/bin, but since you are rooted you could install a private busybox in someplace like /data/local/bin. I prefer to use a busybox which is SELinux-cognizant, e.g. v1.23.1 here as busybox_full_selinux_1.23.1.zip Note that I don't "install" this .zip so that stuff in /system/bin or /system/xbin get overwritten, but instead just keep it in a private area all on it's own.
Steps.
0) extract the "busybox" binary from the .zip file and get a copy to your SD card. Then
Code:
su
mkdir -p /data/local/bin
chmod 755 /data/local/bin
cp /sdcard/busybox /data/local/bin/
chmod 755 /data/local/bin/busybox
cd /data/local/bin
./busybox --install -s /data/local/bin
This allows it to be used as needed in a terminal/console shell.
e.g. using ls
1) Explicitly: /data/local/bin/ls -lZ *
2) Implicitly "as a last resort":
export PATH="${PATH}"':/data/local/bin'
ls -lZ *
3) Implicitly "as preferred":
export PATH='/data/local/bin:'"${PATH}"
ls -lZ *
I am now have root, unlocked bootloader and twrp Whoot!!
Well I now have twrp installed thank you vary much for all your help and direction I sincerly appreciate your assistance.
I installed termux and after updating the packages sucessfully used dd to install twrp.
1st thing I am going to do a full system backup.
No developer love for N900V not good
Hi, I'm currently reading an XDA book that describes the theoretical and technical hacking of android devices, so I have some doubts linked to my Note 4 too, I hope I'm in the right place to learn.
My SM-N910C is rooted, I know why my default system browser does not go into private mode. So also my recovery is custom (TWRP) and the recovery terminal has a (#) sign indicating that too. Is it possible that I can download and put in the system / bin directory the linux SU command and execute it to enter as root user by the terminal so simply? Or the only way would be to download an already rooted ROM and put it in the device?
And taking advantage of the opportunity I have one more question disconnected from the main question: Is it possible to enable USB debugging without starting the Android system? If somewhere in XDA I can find an answer, show me where.
:fingers-crossed:
