Hello. These are my i9500's details:
Android version: 4.2.2
Baseband version: I9500JKUAMD9
Kernel version: 3.4.5
Build number: I9500XXUAMDE
It is rooted and on the same stock rom I got when I purchased the phone, and according to these details:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9500
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
I'm quite convinced I don't have Knox.
I wanted to ask the following questions:
Is upgrading to 4.4.2 worth it? Are there any downsides?
Is upgrading to a stock 4.4.2 rom WITH root and WITHOUT Knox possible?
I'm guessing I'll need I9500XXUFNC2, right?
Thanks.

Hi,
1 yes is worth it , downsides , new bootloader with knox security ( you also have custom stock roms 100% stock experience like Omega Rom , all the 4.4.2 features , all samsung features also)
2 no
3 that would be an option , yes
So I have checked far and wide across the net as to what I am suppose to do. First of all here is my device info:
Bootloader version: I337UCUEMK2
Baseband version: I337UCUEMK2
PDA version: I9500XXUEMJ9
CSC version: I9500XXUEMJ9
Product code: Not Active
Phone Model: GT-I9500
Build number: ORG.I9500XXUEMJ9
Modem Board: MDM8215M
Android Version: 4.3
I would like to update to KitKat 4.4.2 as I checked sammobile and there is a 4.4.2 firmware for my country despite not purchasing the device in my country (Jamaica). The dilemma I face though is that I'm not sure if it is a GT-I9500 firmware should be installed or a SGH-I337 firmware as you can see the bootloader is that of a I337 and the PDA version is I9500. Also would it affect me if I flash a different firmware from the one I have. I've tried updating through Kies but there is no update and I also tried OTA which proved unsuccessful as well as there were no updates. What should I do?
What is written in download mode? That's your phone model.

It seems like you can install i9500 roms and firmwares, because in your bootloader it shows that your phone is this

So I booted into download mode or odin mode and it says this:
Product name: SGH-I337
Current Binary: Samsung official
System status: Official
Knox Kernel: 0x0
Knox Warranty Void: 0x0
CSB-Config-LSB: 0x30
Write protection: Enable
eMMC Burst Mode enabled
How can the phone be an I9500 and then in odin mode say it is a SGH-I337. Also of note when I tried updating via OTA it was the AT&T update checker came up and said there was no update. Was it that the phone was flashed with an AT&T rom?
Any updates for this? I suffer from the same problem. Thanks!

It's not really a problem. My guess is that you are running a custom rom where someone just edited the device info to a i9500. Or you are running stock but someone just changed the model name. No big deal. I can also name my phone anything that I want.
I bought my phone on ebay, which comes with AT&T rom. However, baseband and pda version is the same as jojosilvera. When I check online it seems that device is from Israel where KitKat update hasn't been released there (wtf). So I don't know what to do.

If you boot in download mode and it says you have a I337, then that is your model. Use roms for that model.

It does say SGH-I337. But since it's different in baseband I can't update the phone neither using Kios or on-fly AT&T updater. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Flash with Odin.
That was something I wanted to avoid. The seller offered me a return. Why would untouched firmware would be like this? Should I return it when I have the chance or just root & flash with another ROM? Thanks btw
A friend of mine bought a used Samsung Galaxy S4. She called me saying to look at her phone because it's acting strange (random reboots, camera crashing). Upon looking at the phone, I saw that it was running Cyanogenmod. She'd like the "normal" samsung rom instead, as she is a previous Galaxy S2 owner.
I checked the "About this phone" information, and this is what I found:
Model number: GT-9505G
Android version: 5.0.1.
Smallband version: I9505XXUGNG8
Kernel version: 3.4.0.-2809293 [email protected]#1
Build number: LRX22C
So I thought this would be a Galaxy S4 GPE. I downloaded the I9505GUEEDNL3_FULL and tried flashing it with ODIN. It kept giving me errors.
I started doubting what model this was. After checking behind the battery, this the information I found:
Model: GT I9505
SSN: -9505 GSMH
S/N: RF1D47XA37R
So, what model is this? The I9505 or the I9505G, and what would be the best method to flash a stock firmware/rom on this, and which one would I need?
Edit; after doing some searching, I think i've found what rom is currently running on the phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557353
Boot into download mode. There you can find your model.
It's probably a GT-I9505 running a GPE rom. The GPE rom sets the device code to GT-I9505G. And that's how apps will see it. That's also why it shows GT-I9505G in "About" menu.
