Just popped in to say bye and thanks to all the devs for the awsome roms. Going to move over to t mobile in november. Sick of sprints slow speeds on spark. Spint has been in financial trouble for years. Moody's downgraded sprint last month. Sprint is carrying so much debt and I just do not see any improvements in their service due to lack of capital.
It was a fun ride. To all who worked so hard for our enjoyment. Thank you so much. I will see some of you on the t mobile side.
Again Thank you devs and friends.
Ill be around for a couple more weeks until I pull the plug. Thinking of giving the lg v10 a shot. I know they are a pita to work on. Might not root. Nah, thats impossible for me.
Cheers.

LIBERTY or DEATH
Well i left tmobile for sprint because of the 10 gig data limit . That's wasn't enough data so i went with sprint for unlimited data well . Im ready to go back to tmobile as well at least i could use the 10 gigs i can't even use 5 gigs on sprint network is horrible. Thought it was just my phone nope its sprint. My second note 4 still have the same data issuses .
I got unlimited data and it's 20 times faster than Sprint. I live near Dallas tx and Sprint really is bad. On a good day I would get maybe 2mbs. Steadily getting mid 20's with t mobile.
As for the lg v10. I'm liking it so far. Sweet phone. Plus a free 200 gig sd card, spare battery and dock. 64 gig internal memory. Finally I can watch you tube videos in hd. Lol.
Now, to root or not to root.

How did you switch? Did you have to pay a lot to sprint to leave?
I'm waiting for my contact to run out in 3 months, then looking elsewhere for an unlimited data service in Michigan
Yeah yall go ahead and pay those big data fees, I'll keep my unlimited data with Sprint.

No. My wife had a brand new note 5 through Sprint. I had note 4. T mobile paid for us to leave. Gave us credit for the phones. And gift cards to pay off Sprint. I'm loving it. I'm not kidding. With Sprint I had .5 -2mbs. Now I can watch a 1080p video on you tube WITH NO BUFFERING. I'm happy.

Unlimited data 80.00 a month. 40 times faster than Sprint.
Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk
Yes.. it's unlimited but they will prioritizing (slow you down, you dont get lte anymore but rather 2 or 3 g till your month is up) you use a lot of data in a month. By doing that, it allow others users in your area to use the data.... is like capping but they call prioritization.
Yes they do. After 21 gigs. They do throttle. But that is still faster what Sprint had in Dallas area. I don't care. They are upfront about throttling. Sprint was severely throttled all the time. At best I would get 2 mbs. Most of the time it was .5 to .8 mbs.
Secondly. Moody' downgraded Sprint. You can read there report. They said the threat of default was very high. This is going to make the 2.5 billion of debt due this quarter more expensive to roll over.
They said that the cell phone buisiness is very competitive and the bigger ones (verizon, att, t mobile) are going to have a very hard time to remain profitable. Sprint would most likely not survive. Sprint has been in severe financial trouble for years. The service in this Sprint spark area is so bad. I do not see them spending any more money to improve it. I agree with Moody's. They are going to start selling bands to create liquidity. While they do have some liquidity right now. It is going to be burned through quickly. Sprint is carrying 36 billion in debt. 2.5 billion matures this quarter. 2.5 billion early 2016. Yes. The threat of default is very high. So their credit rating was dropped.
This does not mean that default is imminent. It just means that the threat level is high.
This also had a big impact in my decision to go ahead and abandon ship.
Don't trust me. Go do your own research. Its not hard. Sprint is in had shape.
Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk
To each his own. Some people love Sprint. Some people get good speeds. I didn't. Others on my framily plan from Denton tx. Plano tx. Dallas tx. And me. We all are having the same issue. Slow speeds.
I pay good money to get data. I'll spend my money where I get the best deal. And t mobile Bill is 20 bucks more for 2 lines unlimited data. For me it's best. While Sprint is unlimited. Their data was way to slow for these times. I would rather have 21 gigs, of 20-40mbs. Then throttled than deal with .5-.8mbs

Including taxes/fees? Do you get an upgrade discount on phones every 2 yrs, or do you have to pay full price on a new phone or lease one?
Three upgrades a year. Just turn in your old phone. No not including tax

T mobile gave us every penny we owed Sprint to switch. We got the trade in as a credit on our Bill. My t mobile Bill right now is -$580. So we have 580 buck to pay off Sprint. The balance we owed is a visa prepaid card.
Sprint is paid off. The phone business is very competitive right now.
If you are one of the ones that have crappy service. There are options out there. Your not trapped by contracts.
I'm happy. I've got very good service.

i just went on tmos site and saw 500 min + unlimited texting and data for $50.
if you go the off contract route you can get unlimited calling, text, and data for $70.
not bad. i believe the on contract plan throttles you off of hspa+/3g after 2GB and the off contract throttles you after 5GB. the $70 plan is pretty sweet if you buy a hspa+ $200-300 phone on ebay.
Good luck with your reception, T-Mobile has rather sparce reception here.
LOL, I was talking to a Sprint rep yesterday and I asked him "off the record" what kind've phone he uses (Evo) if it was rooted (it is, and he recognized my user name from here) and what he thought of Sprint basically telling the courts that said we can do whatever we want to our phones, knowingly voiding the warranty as is our choice, and he agreed... lol
dude that said haters gonna hate.....i dont hate i just dont like being screwed, you just say that because you work for sprint..i have 2 tmo touch pro 2. basically the closest i could get to the current service i have with tmo which is $150 a month cost me $260 a month with sprint and they wanted $30 more to be able to use usb tethering and $20 a month for premium data.then they tacked on $20 more a month for a 3rd line fee for the broadband card i have **** all that noise that its free with tmobile

I just left tmo for sprint.. Cheaper I dont think so... 3 lines with tmobile and there unlimited data was around the same price until I dropped my internet at home stopped using wifi calling and was throttled 2 weeks.into the month... Sprint is a little slower but alot faster then being throttled half a month...just my 2 cents...btw im In an area where the both have good signal so that didnt play into my decision...

I don't understand how your bill is that high!
1. My bill is roughly $75 a month for 450 Lan unlimited, though I have a corporate discount if 25%.
2. Root your phone for wireless tethering.
3. So that means for me even with two lines that's only $150 a month.
I could understand though if you don't use your phone often. I average 20gb a month so $75 a month for extreme data, over 6,000 texts, and a lot of calls is worth it to me.

Did you expect to find sympathy on the Internet? I bet you were very unpleasently surprised.
Sent from somewhere over the double rainbow.
My only gripe with Sprint is having to pay for "4g" when I have no hope of ever seeing 4g.
I am on sero and had to upgrade to sero premium to use the Evo...plus another $10/mo for "4g" data...which will likely reach my area a week after the apocalypse.
Went from $34/mo for 500/unlimited everything to $54 for the "privilege" of using the Evo. Ah well...still cheap as hell, i guess.

Off to verizon, stuck around when you took away my yearly upgrade, and when your 3g speeds slowed to a crawl, but you now changed my contract and expect me to pay $30 more, nope going to verizon and getting that galaxy nexus for the same price. If I'm gonna pay a lot might as well have fast data.
EVO 4G
Will mis my Evo.

I've got to be honest, I'm am a long time Sprint customer and cheerleader; 13 years and counting. I suffered through a year of the Instinct and that should prove my loyalty beyond reproach . I love my Evo and Android in general. However, Sprint seems to have become the iPhone network and as much as I am dismayed, it is painful to see all of the new and upcoming Android devices going to the competitor's. Verizon already dropped blockbuster phones last quarter. AT&T and T-Mobile made announcements at MWC. Sprint's conspicuous absence is nerve racking to say the least. It does no good to have probably the best plan out there when there are no phones to take advantage of it. The Nexus was a good start but it is the only phone on the horizon that I would even think about and it's going to be outdated by the time a release date is announced. I'm sure the billions spent on obtaining the iPhone put a crimp on what devices they could buy along with the LTE expansion. However, I am Android through and through. I was due for an upgrade in June last year but held off because my Evo was "good enough" to wait for the next "big" thing. Well, that next big thing isn't even on the horizon. Where are the announcements for those LTE handsets coming this year? Even a tease is all I want. But all I see from Sprint is NBA and Nascar endorsements. I am a patient man, but unfortunately Sprint is testing that patience to the limit. They have a couple months (until the other phones on my family plan expire) to announce something enticing or this one customer is going to add to the "churn" and bolt to another carrier; something I don't want to do but will have to to keep up with current Android tech. I hope other Android Sprint fans feel this way and put pressure on Sprint to hear our concerns, that is the only way even if it is a way, to make them know we are packing up and leaving.
Yes I am selling my awesome Evo, any takers? Rooted running classic, has 3500 battery.
EVO 4G
$89 for 2 lines including txt, double data so $50 for 10 gigs for me $30 for 4 gigs for the wife, minus my 15% discount, paying about the same. Went through amazon so no activation fee, and the phones were only $100 each.

My contract is up in a year and I've been wondering what's my next phone. Hopefully they drum something up by then.
Which carrier is best?
Is a cyclically answered question...
Whichever carrier just released the newest most powerful phone has the best device...
Whichever carrier most recently upgrades their network has the best network...
when SprintVisionNetwork fires up,
Sprint will again have the best network...
And yet still have the best pricing...
Jump now if you need the faster speed for the more money,
That's cool if it works for you...
If my service does not service my needs,
I would change service...
We'll see you back again when SprintVisionNetwork rotates Sprint back to the top...
I plan on staying with sprint for the long haul, cuz I'm sure sometime in the future they too will cap their data, and they will honor my unlimited plan!

I have been with sprint for 4 years and am deeply disappointed with the service. My phone has never been able to use the unlimited data i pay for because they won't fix the cell tower in my area, everyone they tell get a discount because of my upgrade find a way rack up my bill 500$+, and the people inn the store are real dicks to me 90% of the time. I only stay because they offer free stuff when I try to quit then I find them charge my on forementioned bill which I have to spend 3 hours+ ironing out over the phone.

The one thing I will applaud Sprint on is their customer service; they're pretty lenient once you get the right rep, and honestly they're a really nice company when pitted against AT&T or Verizon. Their weakest link is their data speed, and if they fix that, then I may come back. Till then I'm off to an AT&T GoPhone SIM with a Galaxy S3 International or Straight Talk AT&T.
I hope NV makes things better

I read that same article, which confirmed my very small unscientific survey, that Sprint 4G is about as fast as AT&T 3G. And Sprint 3G ~ AT&T 2G.

Lol it's funny how every data limit post turns into a "look at sprints speeds" lol, nothing beats unlimited

True, but not everyone has those speeds, like me, I've talked about the good speeds in a good area for me, but then the new posters say "ramble ramble, look at sprint's speeds, ramble ramble",lol

So I'm sure most of you are aware of this whole AT&T Data Sharing thats coming out near the end of august. I was just doing some math on the whole thing and had it confirmed by a representative on the phone...turns out, it makes no sense. Shocking.
For a family of 5 such as my situation, we have 4 smart phones and 1 non-smartphone.
As the charts shows (which I cant post since Im too new), it breaks down like this...
4GB
$70 base price
$40 / smartphone
$30 / normal phone
------------
$54 / smartphone
$44 / normal phone
6GB
$90 base price
$35 / smartphone
$30 / normal phone
-----------
$53 / smartphone
$48 / normal phone
10GB
$120 base price
$30 / smartphone
$30 / normal phone
-----------
$54 / smartphone
$54 / normal phone
Past that point it actually starts making sense and getting more expensive, but as you can see, why settle for less unless your the guy with a non-smartphone who gets screwed.

Thanks for sharing! Saw these earlier today, still ripoffs but at least ATT doesn't force you on them like VZW.
Prepaid is cheaper.

I'm not trying to gloat here, but this just makes my decision to add the 'unlimited data' package to my service, of which is no longer available for purchase, a notably smart one. Thank goodness for "grandfathered" things, such as is mine. Albeit, knowing AT&T's business practices, they'll probably figure a way to forcibly get me to buy into a data package eventually. But, for now, the thirty dollars is well worth it. However, I have heard rumors of AT&T throttling down bandwidth once users such as myself reach a certain monthly data usage amount.

For sure, I'm jealous of my friends who still rock unlimited data since I got in the smartphone game a little late.
I guess the good part of these shared plans is unlimited calling is included.
But does the shoe fit?
Run the numbers. It's not really made to reduce anybody's bill, but to add flexibility. Everybody on the new plan gets tethering, unlimited domestic minutes and texts. I'm curious to see how employer discounts will be affected. I'm a veteran and get a 15% discount off some parts on my plan. If it works out for me, great. If not, I'll stick with my current setup.

My girl had the unlimited to until she bought a 4g phone. The unlimited is only for 3 g so they made her get the 3 gigabyte plan for a 4g phone they already have taken that out of the picture if you buy a 4 g phone

That can't be right. One of my buddies who has unlimited just upgraded to a One X and he was able to keep it.
Correction: He said that he missed that mandatory switch by two weeks-ish.

Just, sell the phones you get from them and get international ones. They see all of those as, non-smart, and unlim data is still there, for those. 10/mo too as far as I know.

Not even a week into this month. Rogers raider on $10 "non-smartphone" data plan
You don't get the HSPA+ speeds with the Media Net plans correct?
The new Family plans may offer flexibility but I'm pretty sure that the main point is the same as VZs, to make you pay more for data. You either jump up to a high dollar plan or you risk paying the pretty hefty new overage fees.
Man, their highest price tier is still more then the unlimited everything plan on sprint...man, so glad I'm not with true blue or big red, I'll keep sprinting away with my cheap phone bill

It should depend on whatever the phone is capable of which is usually not as fast as smartphones.
But yeah thats true and it seems like theyre playing it off as some great deal to those who dont read the fine print or bother comparing.
So today I got a great surprise that Verizon is upgrading my data to the 6gb plan instead of the 2 GB plan. I came from the unlimited data plan with my S3 and when checking my bill today online I noticed that I didn't actually have 2 GB of data I only had 1.29 and I was over my limit!!!!! As you can imagine I was pissed and called Verizon right away. The customer service representative told me that I should have been automatically enrolled in the 6gb data plan for 30$ a month same price as my unlimited data plan. She said it is part of the Max program. I am sharing this experience with all of you to tell you that if you are coming from an unlimited data plan and just upgraded you should call Verizon and figure out if you are eligible for this program.
Good luck everyone and I hope everyone gets more data for less.

I received a text asking if I wanted to double my data for free. All I had to do was reply yes, and it was done.
They offered to drop my bill $20/month. Took about 5 minutes on the phone.
I guess because I got the phone in the middle of the month they prorated my data usage; tomorrow is a new month for me so I will now have 6 GB instead of a prorated 2 or 1.29.

Yea, We got upped from 6gig to 10 gig for the same price. that coupled with the 25$ off per edge line isnt a bad gig.
they upgraded me from 3gb to 6 for the same price since i was supposed to get a free gb for the next 2 years since i pre-ordered it. i had to call 3 times to see where it was, and on the 3rd time, they gave me this and its better than a free gb for 2 years anyway

I don't get why so many people give up their unlimited data when there are simple loopholes to keep the plan and still get subsidized upgrades. But once it's gone it's gone.....

I was going to reply with how he got more data after getting rid of unlimited. But it seemed snarky. Maybe this is one of the few that never used more than 6gb a month anyways.
They'll have to pry it from my cold dead hands first before willingly giving this up..some people are insane...
Wow, I haven't seen unlimited data since years ago when sprint had their big unlimited everything plan they started.
I hope the government eats them all up in their lawsuit about unlimited.

Sprint still has unlimted data plans. They are the last of the big 4 carriers to offer unlimited data ( I don't count T-Mobile since they throttle after 4gb).
Also Verizon dropped their throttling plans for people with Unlimited Data. So there will be no law suite. .. well atleast for now.

I find it difficult to not post this when people talk about data usage. Yes, I may be the reason(at least one of) Verizon want's to kill unlimited data.

Holy bat outta hell. Thats higher that what i normally hit even on my seedbox. Do you host your own seedbox or something on your pho e or computer to tether that much data?

Though rooted with unlocked tethering, I wanted to keep it as pure of a test as possible. I don't have a tethering subscription, and didn't want to give Verizon a reason to claim I was in violation of the TOS. That was direct to the phone (or to the External SdCard, rather) from Google Drive. At first I was surprised that Verizon didn't flat shut me off.....as I approached 7 TB, I was kinda surprised Google didn't. lol This was done just after Verizon went around saying they were going to start throttling unlimited data customers (only to change their mind later-thanks FCC). I figured it may be my last opportunity to do something like this. I don't normally top more than around 5-6 GB's/mo, but knew that given the available bandwidth, monthly allowances can "easily" be exceeded. I set out to see just how much data I could use in a month. When I broke a terabyte in just over 4 days, I knew the total was going to be ridiculous.
