So, for the most part I really like my moto x pure. I've noticed, though, that I often cannot have navigation running while listening to google play music. It appears that the phone closes the other app whenever I switch between them. This also happens with iheartradio and several other apps.
Is this a memory management thing? I'm going to try a new kernel later today to see if that helps.
are you using the stock kernel that comes with the phone by default? I have been multi tasking apps, maps, games, spotify, waze, and other apps, and they are not restarting or closing.
Memory management working good on mine

I was using the stock kernel and had this issue. I switched to another kernel and the issue still persisted. I have modified the memory management setting from Super Agressive to Agressive, and it helps. If I do anything less than Agressive, the phone is essentially unresponsive after about 30 minutes.

I have used greenify, and I have disabled it. It doesn't appear to positively or negatively affect the performance.
restore to stock once, the issue only for you
I run navigation + pocketcast, tunein radio, or google play music all the time. never have an issue. im all stock

Chances are that there is some background thread that is causing this from a service connector. Something like account adapters (Google Accts have several sub-acct connectors for 'Books', Maps/Latitude, GMail, Calendar, Contacts, etc... and FB is a notoriously buggy account adapter as well).
Another cause is background services for Widgets. These also tend to eat up running memory, page back and forth (if you have that enabled), and are slow to re-initialize if ever dropped from memory by the internal memory manager. This causes even further slowdowns in redraw loops for the Launcher and system processes, which will usually cause the FC popups.
What specifically is causing your FC problems, I have no idea. However, there are some ideas to work with.
I have no widgets up but the clock and power control. Idk. I'm about to just hard reset and start over. But when I open Pandora or even sometimes my contacts it freezes and fc.

Probably best if you hard reset

Google maps is killing my battery.
I am running 4.2.2 stock. I noticed this yesterday and killed the app, deleted its cache and data and never launched it, but today it's done the same! I do not use Google Now.
Anyway I can stop this?

Yep, Maps does that. How to stop it from draining? Uninstall maps.
you can disable it

I think a lot of google services (location) uses maps... Maybe even the new google now. Anyhow go into settings in google maps and turn all of the settings off, especially "location history". Make sure android's settings for location access is turned off. When you reboot, maps should run a lot less if ever. Hasn't come up for me since I did it this morning when I first read your message. No need to uninstall it (might get system errors).
You might loose a lot of services if you do it on a mobile device.
It does run a lot, but you can get more battery by having your screen turn off sooner or not as bright, even not using live wallpaper. I use maps and location services too much to consider turning it off.
Hope that helps some.
Good advice. Using Better Battery Stats, I traced a lot of apps which also cue up Maps. You think its only Maps, but some apps go there to find you & your location. Your basic battery use app will show only Maps as the culprit, but look closer & it's other apps asking it for your whereabouts! Facebook is one of the all time worst. It had so many other privacy issues I deleted my account. Google + & Google Now will also use battery thru Maps finding you. Turn off any apps location service via its individual settings if you want individual control. Or, just deny all of them via main settings.

Cheers guys. I have restricted a few of them now. Strangely my HTC one X does not have the same issues despite running similar apps.

I noticed that when I check running programs, Google Music play is always running. I never even opened it to begin with. I force it to close and if I check again. It's running again.

It's actually worse, at least it was for me. It continuously starts and stops itself every 2-3 seconds. It killed my battery life. I uninstalled the latest update, and the problem went away. (I use Rocket anyway, so I didn't need it updated anyway.)
Yes I noticed this as well and left it on there in a review. I hope they fix this bug cause its a battery killer.
Only way to stop it is to uninstall the update but I have the 30 day free subscription so I can't do this. I'm constantly closing it out on task manager

I am running stock rom version 20c d802 (ame)
I face lot of lag with keypad typing.
Also, I have noticed that my phone app and chrome keeps running in active apps despite I press back button. This increases lagness more.
I have also disabled few apps to free some ram. Fresh restart shows me 1 gb of free ram which slowly reduces to 500+
I do not feel any other lag while using the phone but only keyboard. Because of this lg stock keyboard is impossible to use and this lag remains less intense with third party keyboard like ai type.
Also I have notice google music keeps running in background despite being closed using back key.
Kindly advise

This is a shot of all the apps I was able to disable on my Verizon g6. With no negative results it's truly not much but without root don't know what else could get rid of that wouldn't hurt anything
Yes I have some disabled to but Greenify just allows you to add apps that you want to use but don't want them to run in the background, like music, camera, maps, Facebook, Twitter, etc. They only run when you open them and are shut down again a minute or so after the phone goes into sleep mode when the screen turns off.

That's great but I'm not truly doing it for batter life I've been doing it for performance. Shutting the app down actually would make the phone slower I believe since when you relaunch the app it's not just pulling it from background it had to truly start all over. Just my thoughts. I never kill my background apps unless one is acting up
You want to make it snappier turn off animation scaling at dev options then turn on gpu rendering.

Yeah done that for last 5 years. Thanks. I put it at .5 and use nova launcher with faster than light seething for no annotation
