My xplay is so slow... I have over 158mb internal and I have to constantly fc everything. Half of my Apps I go to load fc anyways.. What is the deal?

Chances are that there is some background thread that is causing this from a service connector. Something like account adapters (Google Accts have several sub-acct connectors for 'Books', Maps/Latitude, GMail, Calendar, Contacts, etc... and FB is a notoriously buggy account adapter as well).
Another cause is background services for Widgets. These also tend to eat up running memory, page back and forth (if you have that enabled), and are slow to re-initialize if ever dropped from memory by the internal memory manager. This causes even further slowdowns in redraw loops for the Launcher and system processes, which will usually cause the FC popups.
What specifically is causing your FC problems, I have no idea. However, there are some ideas to work with.
I have no widgets up but the clock and power control. Idk. I'm about to just hard reset and start over. But when I open Pandora or even sometimes my contacts it freezes and fc.

Probably best if you hard reset

Whenever I update any app it is causing the market to close. I'll go back to the market and the app I started the download update on will restart the download and finish. Very strange. This just started a few days ago. Any answers would be welcomed.
I have the same problem on stock rooted

Please post questions in Q&A section.

Sometimes the market will force-close each time I start it forcing me to do some combination of clearing its cache, removing its update, or uninstalling the most recently installed apps. It's probably the least reliable app on my phone at the moment, with the mms app being in second place.
I've also started to have the issue of it crashing while download updates. If I restart it, it continues fine.
I have no way to qualify this, but it feels like the market app is particularly sensitive to network connectivity. Obviously it needs data to function but it doesn't seem to handle connectivity problems gracefully.
I'm still stock and not rooted.
Clear cache on market... That fixed mine.

I have this issue as well (rooted and unrooted). I was reading the google developer blog and many were complaining how this can screw up their payment, or processing of purchased apps. Not sure, but sounded like this was fairly widespread...

You are having the same problems I have. Force close on downloading of updates is very frustrating to say the least.
I am also stock and not rooted.
I have IG 1.1.1 flashed but my problem is it starts the download then freezes. The whole market goes down. If I reset the phone, when its done rebooting it doesn't reload all off my apps that were already saved to the sd card. Any ideas what is wrong or any way to get the lost apps back? I also have titanium but it only reloads them sometimes.

Thought I was alone with this! My market will also FC once I start to update an app, then multiple apps will update that I have flagged for auto-update. It seems my market gets overwhelmed by more than 1 app update running at a time. I just hit FC then re-open it and everything is fine again.
Market 2.2.6 seems a lot more stable for me. I will randomly get download failed messages from it, but it no longer seems to hang or FC anymore.
Just noticed recently that I am getting more and more FC in the market and gmail, didn't notice this right after the TW update but now it is happening often.
I don't know if the markt and gmail have updated recently, they may have.
Anything I can do about this?
This happens every time I use the xda app, so can't use it :-(

I'd be tempted to do a factory reset and see if that improves things.
Hi there.
I have a Xperia Play with .042 firmware (stock ROM), and only rooted (locked bootloader).
My phone works well, but sometimes feels a bit laggy. I've noticed in the Running Apps list that a lot of times Google Maps turns on even if I didnt open it, and it causes me a lot of that lag, so I have to close it and then the Xplay works well again.
So, my question is, can I uninstall Google Maps and then reinstall it from the Play Store as a non-system app? This should stop thet the app opens itself on its own...
What problems can cause uninstalling Google Maps?
I don't think making it a non system app will stop it from running in the back. I just uninstalled it altogether

It's just Google spying on you. No need to worry.
If you are not sure just freeze it with titanium backup or system tuner pro or something. Nothing will happen if you uninstall it tho.

Use an app called Autostarts to control which apps start automatically and when. No need to uninstall or freeze anything. Its like msconfig/startup manager for android. Its a root app so it gets the job done properly, meaning it stops apps from starting in the first place, not one of those useless apps which kills them after they start.

Good idea. I've frozen it and for now my Xplay goes perfect.

I'll give it a try. Thanks.
I noticed that when I check running programs, Google Music play is always running. I never even opened it to begin with. I force it to close and if I check again. It's running again.

It's actually worse, at least it was for me. It continuously starts and stops itself every 2-3 seconds. It killed my battery life. I uninstalled the latest update, and the problem went away. (I use Rocket anyway, so I didn't need it updated anyway.)
Yes I noticed this as well and left it on there in a review. I hope they fix this bug cause its a battery killer.
Only way to stop it is to uninstall the update but I have the 30 day free subscription so I can't do this. I'm constantly closing it out on task manager

Upgraded to 4.4 with a clean wipe. I uninstalled some of the Google apps I never use such as currents ect. After awhile some apps start to force close such as settings. After I reboot or wipe cache or both the apps then reinstall themselves. Strange. I have never had a problem like this in any other version of android. Anyone else?

yea, i found out two weeks ago that you cant uninstall system apps in kitkat without getting a fc in settings. my way around it, i disabled 19 of the apps found in /system/app/ instead of deleting them. it seems to work just as well. pick any of the apps, select to view its info, tben press disable in the app info screen. itll remove that app from the app drawer as well.
Thanks Simms. Your one helpful dude! I always felt better totally getting ride of them to open up more space but it is what it is.

its what i do too, and always done. i have found that you can delete a few apps in /system/app/, like plus one, but they cant be considered system apps. its one of the first things i noticed about kitkat, that settings fc after removing system apps.

This is wrong on so many levels. After years rooting and running custom roms, I'm suddenly stuck with a load of bloatware if I upgrade to 4.4. I only use the account manager and Play Store and don't want any other Google apks, and would like to do without even those two, in fact I have no Google account 99% of the time and both are disabled unless I have to update something.
Hope there's a way out of this...
