Hello my friends,
i was in vacation and a I bought a unlocked atrix 4g. My phone have AT&T logo at the back but it is unlocked for any GSM carrier.
OK ! I returned to Brazil and now i want install the homebase ROM.
My doubt is ..... which kind of ROM should I use ? International or AT&T ? I dont know which group my phone belongs. Because it's unlocked but he has the AT&T ROM.
Thanks for the support.
So it is an at&t phone right?
Lets try to find The logical thing to do here...
Its an at&t phone with at&t ROM... Uhm What do you think?

Thanks for your reply.
Yeah, following the logical though I need install the AT&T ROM. But my doubt is:
The cellphone is unlocked and I use it with other GSM carrier than AT&T. If I install the home base ROM for AT&T smarthphones there is some risk to have my phone Locked again to AT&T carrier ? Or, for the reason I have a unlocked cellphone and use it in international area, I should install the international ROM ?
Thanks for your attention
I own an unlocked at&t atrix with my carrier in México wich is Telcel. With an at&t ROM. No problem at all.
Doesnt lock again

The phone won't be locked again once it's carrier-unlocked (sim unlocked).
It's totally unrelated to the ROM you use for your phone. You can install any ROM you like on your phone. This is from my own experience.

Really thanks for the answers!
My logical thinking was... my phone have a different configuration to accept all gsm carriers, and i was affraid to lose that configuration after install ROM's and other things ! A noob doubt ! Thanks for the attention
I have a rooted and unlocked I337 from AT&T which I am now running in Canada on the Rogers network.
I haven't received the 4.3 update from either AT&T or Rogers, and nothing seems to be available through Kies either. I'm assuming I am supposed to get it through AT&T, but that it would only work with an AT&T SIM card in the US. Is that correct?
Anyway to get the update?

I am pretty sure you won't get the update from Rogers as your only using their sim rom would not be compatible with your phone.. I337... Rogers is I337M.... I also don't think you will get it from AT&T because your rooted..... Just a guess but if you just want to get to 4.3, I would think you need to use an AT&T rom which you can find in the general thread to flash using Odin, but I would do a lot more reading and asking questions before you dive in the deep end....

Thanks. Can't flash using Odin AFAIK, as I am on MF3 baseband.
But what you're saying is that if I wasn't rooted, I would likely get the AT&T update, even though I am not currently on their network?

I'm pretty confident you need to be on the AT&T network to get the OTA. You can use the MK2 ODIN files just fine, locked bootloaders don't prevent that.

So to have an unlocked bootloader I got the Tmo S4, I'm going to be using it with AT&T. For best results, should I be using the Tmo baseband or an AT&T one? Even if I leave the baseband as Tmo (It is MDL), after flashing recovery and installing rom, would i install a Tmo or ATT rom?
Dont care about LTE.

Use the TMO base band and you can flash att TMO and others but remember to flash a TMO kernel.
What does flashing the Tmo kernel do exactly? Right now I'm using a Note 2 T889 with with the Tmo baseband on AT&T. I downloaded the cm10.1 for t0lteatt and never changed the kernel.

The modems and kernels are signed specifically for each device anyways, so i'm not sure a custom AT&T kernel would even work on your device. There's not really a difference anyways as long as you have the phone network unlocked.

How strange, the first thing I did with my T889 was flash custom recovery and install cm10.1 ATT version. Never had any problems.
So I have seen multiple people here on the forum claiming to do it or wanting to do it and I am a bit confused. I have an s7 edge on contract from ATT. Can I do this? If I flash T Mobile's firmware on this does this make my phone usable with a T Mobile sim?
Thank you

Yes you can and only thing I've noticed not working is video calling and WiFi calling with it seems I get better signal with there's.

Can you advise the procedure? I'm currently permanently locked to AT&T network and would like to use a carrier (SK Telecom - Korea).
Wouldn't you still need to SIM unlock your AT&T phone to use on T-mobile network? I don't think just flashing another carriers ROM will allow you to use their network. Am I Wrong in thinking this way?

I had the same question and that's why I haven't done anything on my phone so far. Also it does not help that I am a noob with all these things and dont want to mess up my phone since this is my daily driver.

Go to http://www.cellunlocker.net/ and get an unlock code for your phone. I unlocked my tmobile S7 edge this way right out of the gate worked just fine.

I am confused. Can I not flash the phone with t mob firmware without unlocking? I thought this was just a software restriction and would have been removed by flashing a new firmware.

Flashing the phones firmware will not carrier unlock the device. That is tied to the IMEI. It will boot up the Tmobile software, but it still will only work on AT&T network.
Also in order to unlock the device from AT&T they will most likely bill you for the remaining value of the device as soon as you request an unlock code. You cannot take a phone from one carrier to another unless it is fully paid off.
I have an Unlocked AT&T S7 and I can put in a T-Mobile sim and it works. So why Flash T-Mobile onto an AT&T phone if its Unlocked??? My AT&T S7 is Paid for in Full.
My question is, if you do flash T-Mobile firmware on AT&T phone will you get OTA updates off of T-Mobile, like when Nougat comes out????? Also would you still have wifi calling and get all the LTE bands of a T-Mobile phone????

Yes. All the edge models have identical hardware. Their only differentiating factor is the firmware they run. I flashed the unlocked firmware onto my AT&T model and now get updates directly from Samsung. If you flash the T-mobile firmware on the AT&T device, all features will work and updates will come from T-Mobile. Same would work if you flash the AT&T firmware onto a T-Mobile variant. Or Verizon to Sprint, Sprint to AT&T, etc.

So you are saying this about S7 Edge, does this work the same for the AT&T S7 SM-G930A? Mine is not the Factory Unlocked model but I got the unlock code from AT&T. I thought the firmware came from the carrier and not Samsung on updates on a carrier branded phone???
So if I flash T-Mobile into my AT&T S7, I can also flash it back to AT&T firmware should I go back to AT&T???
Think you are talking about flashing firmware on your that is original for the Factory Unlocked version, think its SM-G930F

Well people on the S7 edge have flashed the tmo firmware on their AT&T models. Updates come from carrier on branded phones. So if you have an AT&T phone and flash another carriers firmware, it would only be branded by the physical logo on the back. It's like buying a Windows PC and installing Linux. The updates would come from Linux, not Windows, and vice versa. You could always go back to the AT&T firmware, just make sure that both firmwares you flash are on the same bootloader version.

But I have always read that OTA updates come from Carrier not from Samsung. Thanks for the info. Maybe AT&T will be out with Nougat by Spring after S8 are out for sale.

Updates do come from the carrier. However, if you flash a different carriers firmware you will start getting updates from the new carrier.

So my phone is S7 Edge G935P. Playing around on it trying to get the trifecta of root, rom, and data. So I odined the G935P.I3 and it worked, then rooted, no data. Then I flashed a Verizon ROM just to see if it would work it did, I have data, but is there a way to activate my sprint phone with a Verizon ROM? The rom I used is stang5litre edition 5.0 s7e by blackrain. Everything works except for the Verizon stuff obviously, so I'm just curious if it is possible to change those things to sprint?
Thanks

Yes you can go back to stock or universal, but I'm still trying to figure out how to activate the device under sprint after root. If anyone can help that world be great..
Activation just sets your apn/profile.
Have you tried adding a sprint apn?

I was going to try this also but never had the time. You should go to the rom thread and ask stang5litre and ask him. He is cool and well help as much as he can. He might have a legit answer?

You will still need a donor Verizon phone to activate the Sim. You will only have lte coverage as cdma on Verizon still requires imei number. I would just flash the U firmware if you are thinking of going... Same service minus the bloat ware
