Update N7 to Marshmallow - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My N7 originally is nonrooted with 5.1.1. wifi only and factory reset
Yesterday i used "WugFresh Nexus Root Toolkit NRT_v2.0.5" to unlock the bootloader, root and flash Dmitry Grinbergthe's "grouper-M-TWRP_v1.1.zip" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7/development/rom-aosp-6-0-grouper-t3225584). Everything seems okay and it restarted and shows Android 6. Then i installed Gapp.zip it stuck at "Android starts, Optimizing app xx/xx" windows and finally got "Set up wizard stops" error when reboot. I tried two different Gapp zip files: "working-marshmallow-gapps.zip" and "benzo-gapps-M-20151011-signed-chroma-r3.zip" both got the same error. I have to restored it without Google apps.
Please help me to eliminate the error and install Google apps to the custom rom.
Thank you very much !!

No OS Installed Message TWRP but still reboots to system

I just got a new Nexus 7 (2013). I did all the OTA updates until I got on the latest 5.1.1 (LMY48G). I was able to unlock bootloader using Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit. I then tried rooting using the same tool but the process would freeze once it reached the step of temporarily booting TWRP. The window timed out while waiting for device. The tablet did boot to TWRP recovery. However, when I went to reboot to system from TWRP, I got a message saying No OS installed. I was able to reboot back to system despite the message.
At this point, I used Wug's tool to Flash Stock + Unroot. I then tried using CF- Auto Root which worked fine with me. I was now rooted but when flashing to recovery, I got the dead android. I tried downloading TWRP app from Google Store to updated recovery through that method. I did get TWRP flashed but again I still have the No OS Installed message when going to reboot. Finally, I used use Wug's tool to delete TWRP and go back to stock recovery (dead android). Then I tried flashing TWRP through Wug's tool but ended up with same result of getting No OS installed.
Any ideas why I would be getting this message when I am able to reboot back to perfectly working system? Has anyone else experienced a similar problem and been able to get TWRP working correctly?

Galaxy S4 i9505- Not Rooting Through Any Apps

S4 i9505 not rooting through any apps
Hi, I recently flashed cm12.1 on my S4 i9505 and its working fine.
I need a working GApps package, I tried flashing 2 PA GApps(mini and micro), updated version which is TK GApps(mini), and also cleared calvik cache before and after flashing them as some forums suggested, but none of them worked and all Google apps keep crashing as soon as I boot in CM even the keyboard.
The 2nd issue: My phone is not rooted anymore and I tried a couple of rooting android and windows apps but none seem to root my phone, fails everytime. The errors which I faced are below.
Framaroot: "Your device seems not vulnerable to exploit included in Framaroot"
iRoot (android): "GT- i9505 No Root Permission"
iRoot (windows): "Device is connecting
eRoot (windows): Stuff written in chinese and no root button available as mentioned in different forums"
KingoRoot: "Root Strategy unavailable, just try it"
TowelRoot: Stuck on make it ra1n and after a while "towelroot stopped responding"
Root Checker: "Root checker has stopped working"
3rd Issue: I tried installing playstore apk till I get my GApps working, but it crashes everytime I open it, any solutions?
Thanks

1. Gapps: http://opengapps.org/
2. You cannot loose root acces on CM. It's impossible. You just need to activate it in developer settings and after that flash Supersu (optional). All the apps etc you tried is completely obsolete.
3. See post number 1.

I already have root access set to "apps and ADB" in developer options. is this what you're referring to?

Yes.
I would suggest performing a full wipe then flash CM and then the Gapps.
or you can try to just flash Supersu and your root will probably be back.

I tried your suggestion, did a full wipe and flashed CM successfully through TWRP, the flashed GApps successfully, and SuperSU also, but just before rebbot, TWRP asked for "fix root" and when i swiped for yes, the reboot brought me back to Samsung logo and never rebooted CM... waited for about 15 mins before pulling the battery out...
I tried to flash CM and a stock firmware through odin then and now it says "Firmware upgrade failed, try KIES...... " odin fails to flash anything and gives error "No PIT Partition", even if I try to flash PIT files (tries 4 different files for i9505), all failed....
now I can only access download mode and lost TWRP too...
help please!
Install a stock ROM through Download Mode. This will get you back to a working state. From there get TWRP and then install CM12.1. And this time around, follow instructions! At no point were you EVER told you had to fix root, and as you found out, fixing root removes root access.
Honestly mate I was on CM for a while with my i9505 intl before deciding to try something else. I recommend this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557353 . either the latest 5.1 or previous 5.0.1 release, they are both rock solid and there's great support for it too. They've even packaged cm addons as optional flash files.

Mi 4 installing android 5 rooted version

I had rooted my phone with fastboot and installed android 5 with gapps, but it seems it isn't successful as whenever I try to update my phone it download the updates but doesn't install it. Whenever checked it will always show the same update available. During boot up in fastboot it says root possibility may lose, I had installed SU while flashing the device. They are many root softwares which work fine on bluestacks & not on my device. I had tried various boot loaders such as CMR & TWRP but all were unsuccessful in installation. Phone is getting hanged up & automatically restarting too much, Kindly please help me with these issues.

Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 stuck on boot loading screen after flashing SuperSU

My SGS4 i9505 (Intl.) is running CyanogenMod 13.0, specifically cm-13.0-20160114-NIGHTLY-jfltexx with Gapps flashed.
I also have TWRP 2.8.7 installed on Recovery.
My phone had been working perfectly until this evening. I opened SuperSU app (which I downloaded from Play Store) and a message popped up saying i had to install SuperSU binary Normally or using TWRP/CWM. Normal Install popped up an error message, so I downloaded the zip from download.chainfire.eu (UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46). Then saved it on my SD card and flashed it through TWRP.
After the installation-flashing was complete, I tapped on Reboot->System and since then I am stuck on loading screen.
Is there a way to undo the flashing (Don't care about SU, just want my data unharmed)?
What did I do wrong so as to avoid doing it next time?
Please help as soon as possible,
Thanks in advance.
no hope you needed to backup your data and format your phone anyway
CM13 is already rooted. You need to enable developer options and then enable root access under developer options.
Just dirty flash your phone with the cm13 zip and you should be fine.
Also remember twrp at times needs a shock treatment (in my language)
When your at the samsung logo which comes before the booting and it has been a while..just pull tbe battery out and after 30 seconds put it back and turn the phone on
Things should be fine.
Hi,
If you need SuperSU on CM13, use SuperSU 2.56 or newer.

Zenfone 2 Laser (ZE500KL) - problem with bootloader, twrp & supersu

Hello,
recently I have flashed my ze500kl with XenonOS. I would like to go back to stock rom but I have couple problems.
First of all - my bootloader is now locked. I wanted to unlock it via SuperSU, that is already installed on my phone but when I try to open SuperSU App I see this:
"SU Binary occupied"
So I found tutorial on how to fix this issue, but the problem is i can't uninstall SuperSU, I can only disable it in App options.
Then I tried to install TWRP via App from Google Store, but offcourse my phone isn't rooted so I can only download TWRP installation files but can't initiate installation via App. I downloaded TWRP on my PC, opened ADB in CMD, installed it there and rebooted my phone. TWRP isn't loading and my device stuck on ASUS welcome screen.
I tried also WINDROID but I get lots of errors, so it's not working for me either.
Please help me unlock and root my phone. I really want to go back to stock os.
Thanks!

For anyone who struggle with the same issues.
Use ADB and twrp_2.8.7.7.img. I don't know why, I don't know how but this version of TWRP works.
