These are raw .img & .mbn file roms, downloaded directly from ZTE & unaltered. You can flash some of them using the TPT method, depending on your device, config & the rom. Others you may need to use the windows ftm mode flashing method for.
As always, flash at your own risk & do your own research first. If you flash a rom intended for a different device then it is very likely to break your phone. I don't take any responsibility for that & there might not be anything you can do to rescue your phone. Even if it's the same model phone, a rom intended for a different region - especially if either the phone or rom were intended for the chinese market could break it. There is also the Gen1/Gen2/Gen3 issue. If you flash a rom that somehow got corrupted, that's another way to break your phone.
ZTE Racer & ZTE Link share the same model number, but the roms are not compatible, flashing a link rom to a racer or vice versa will probably break it. I'm not sure which are which, check first (use unyaffs on system.img & read build.prop for clues).
In short, don't flash these if you're a n00b. They're intended for rom developers & people wanting to reset their phone to their original stock rom only.

P733 roms have worked when flashed to my P729 blade. Would not suggest flashing P743 though

Unless you have a ZTE Skate.
seen on another forum ...
Hi all, I just unfortunately bricked my ZTE Racer (3uk version) by flashing an unknown TPT rom , maybe a zte-link one.
So now my phone is totally dead. Tried every keys combo but no luck to make it connect to PC, that means USB connection is no longer available.
I google around and found it may need a Jtag device for resurrection. But with proper Jtag pinouts and software tools , the hardware might not be necessary.

Be careful with these roms, make absolutely sure that what you're flashing is compatible with your device before you attempt to flash it. If you're using the tpt or windows method then it rewrites all the low level firmware & bootloaders, including the parts that allow you to flash the phone - so if the new version doesn't work, you might be screwed.
As wbaw states some zte numbering is bizarre. Zte racer and zte link both are p726. Zte roamer and orange san Francisco 2 are p736.
P735 is zte amigo
P725a is zte tureis

Thread stuck
I'd better update it next week, I think half the links are dead & there are some new ones available.

The flasher will download the right files for your phone only. You shouldn't use these files unless you know exactly what you're doing with them, flashing the wrong version for your phone can permanently break it. There is a flasher built into the phone software, TPT, or there is hacked Windows flashing software somewhere.

Can't get OPT for Skate to work
Hi yalll!
I can't get the OPT skate rom to work with TPT. I'm able to flash everything except the original ROM with TPT. I hate the original ROM, but I need it to take the phone up to be serviced. The earphone is broken... again.
Since there is nowhere for us to keep our critical information, I'm going to have to dump it here. The Samsung Relay really is, after all, one of the successors to the HTC Vision, even if it is from a different brand.

Jan 11 16:24:10 <somebody> Good luck all, I have high expectations of you guys, like 4.2 ready and stable by Monday -- weekend starts NOW.
Jan 11 16:25:38 <teferi> you know, that's really not even funny anymore
Jan 11 16:26:42 <NardtheBard> I think I may even be able to just straight up use his kernel, if only I could find the proprietary files he's using
Jan 11 16:27:13 <NardtheBard> and, like Eugene_373 just add our drivers
Jan 11 16:28:49 <NardtheBard> found the firmware, google is fun

Jan 11 17:19:46 <NardtheBard> building it...
Jan 11 17:20:06 <NardtheBard> with our kernel, I don't know what else he's done to his kernel
Jan 11 17:20:44 <NardtheBard> the patch went straight in, so I'm hopeful
Jan 11 17:21:51 <NardtheBard> should I have patched the wcnss driver too?
Jan 11 18:15:14 <NardtheBard> ok i'm flashing it, wish me luck ;p
Jan 11 18:21:35 <opticron> goooooood luck
Jan 11 18:26:47 <NardtheBard> still says operation not permitted
Jan 11 19:38:33 <NardtheBard> ok building it again, I think I mismatched the prima driver and the wcnss lol
Jan 11 19:40:04 <NardtheBard> the cm team for that device has been pretty hefty with the firmware borrowing, they also took the adreno firmware from the mako
Jan 11 19:41:11 * puntloos ([email protected]) has joined #apexqtmo
Jan 11 19:42:31 <puntloos> Hi all, I have a very newbie question: If I switch to CM9, I'm having some difficulty finding docs on how to switch back to stock if I hate it? Samsung Kies seems to only want to update very specific firmware versions (since it considers many firmwares unsupported). I have a Galaxy Relay S btw (T699)
Jan 11 19:44:01 <NardtheBard> You can back up your existing configuration in clockworkmod
Jan 11 19:44:17 <NardtheBard> You can also flash the Samsung firmware manually with Odin or Heimdall
Jan 11 19:44:25 <NardtheBard> You are correct, Kies will not flash you back
Jan 11 19:45:11 <puntloos> cool very helpful, let me hit the googles on where to find odin/heimdall
Jan 11 19:45:39 <puntloos> does odin/heimdall come with the actual firmwares or do I need to find a torrent or something for the specific device?
Jan 11 19:45:42 <NardtheBard> Are you using Windows?
Jan 11 19:45:45 <puntloos> the relay s is a bit rare
Jan 11 19:45:52 <puntloos> I have windows and mac both
Jan 11 19:45:57 <NardtheBard> I have all the files you need for Windows
Jan 11 19:46:05 <NardtheBard> Someone else would have to help you with Heimdall
Jan 11 19:46:17 <puntloos> windows sounds just fine to me
Jan 11 19:46:37 <puntloos> if you could point me to said files I'd be very grateful
Jan 11 19:46:54 <NardtheBard> we have a wiki page with odin 3.04
Jan 11 19:47:02 <NardtheBard> here's the version I use, 3.07 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/103520801/Odin307.zip
Jan 11 19:47:24 <puntloos> got it
Jan 11 19:47:36 <NardtheBard> Here's the Samsung firmware https://dl.dropbox.com/u/103520801/T699UVALJ1_T699TMBALJ1_T699UVALJ1_HOME.tar.rar
Jan 11 19:47:47 <NardtheBard> You will also need the odin version of clockworkmod
Jan 11 19:47:55 <NardtheBard> to initially root your phone
Jan 11 19:48:58 <NardtheBard> http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s-r...-step-step-instructions-root.html#post5378904
Jan 11 19:49:09 <NardtheBard> Note this will possibly void your warranty
Jan 11 19:49:17 <NardtheBard> they will know you've been flashing things
Jan 11 19:49:25 <puntloos> <nod> when going into cyanogenmod territory thats how it goes
Jan 11 19:49:31 <NardtheBard> Although I can neither confirm nor deny I got warranty service anyway
Jan 11 19:49:38 <puntloos> heh
Jan 11 19:50:05 <NardtheBard> Use our 12/8 build of cyanogenmod...do you have the nfc fix for it?
Jan 11 19:50:11 <puntloos> samsung has been good to me too. totally different area: my 4 year old TV had a hardware problem and they fixed it for free
Jan 11 19:50:19 <NardtheBard> Whoa, nice
Jan 11 19:50:56 <puntloos> yeah.. although my gf's galaxy nexus had water damage and they refused to fix it. (and it was never in the rain, just a foggy env once).. so I guess YMMV
Jan 11 19:51:17 <NardtheBard> you can buy those stickers
Jan 11 19:51:31 <puntloos> hah I did not know that
Jan 11 19:51:42 <NardtheBard> it's a water-sensitive sticker
Jan 11 19:51:46 <NardtheBard> you can buy them
Jan 11 19:51:51 <puntloos> yeah I figured as much..
Jan 11 19:52:09 <NardtheBard> obviously if your phone has actually been submerged in water they will be able to find out anyway
Jan 11 19:52:20 <puntloos> nah it hasnt at all
Jan 11 19:52:38 <puntloos> normal use.. maybe some raindrops once but nothing remotely like actual water contact
Jan 11 19:52:47 <NardtheBard> the rust on the screws would probablt give it away ;p
Jan 11 19:52:55 <puntloos> nfc fix> yeah I saw that somewhere on xda-dev thread
Jan 11 19:53:00 <puntloos> not that I ever use it
Jan 11 19:53:16 <NardtheBard> the 12/8 build will drain your battery otherwise
Jan 11 19:53:29 <NardtheBard> it'll (eventually) be included in the next build
Jan 11 19:54:38 <puntloos> cool. And thanks for your work! I've been waiting SO long for a proper qwerty phone
Jan 11 19:54:55 <puntloos> (I've been a blackberry guy for far too long to admit, purely for that reason)
Jan 11 19:55:10 <NardtheBard> i've never used a portrait qwerty
Jan 11 19:55:18 <NardtheBard> (so yes you need the nfc flash)
Jan 11 19:56:08 <puntloos> gotcha will do that
Jan 11 19:58:58 <puntloos> You've been incredibly helpful, thanks again. Now lets see if the gods (hee, see what I did there.. ahem..) are smiling upon my attempts.
Jan 11 19:59:40 <NardtheBard> The ancient Greeks had hundreds of gods and still kept a shrine to "The Unknown God"
Jan 11 20:00:08 <puntloos> I think the americans do the same with soldiers.
Jan 11 20:00:14 <NardtheBard> The Apostle Paul avoided getting stoned for blasphemy when he pointed out to them that preaching unknown gods was in their religion
Jan 11 20:00:25 <puntloos> hmm now to remember my phandroid account.. cwm.tar.zip needed
Jan 11 20:01:23 <NardtheBard> "We shall stone you for heresy!" "Why, for preaching about an unknown god? His altar is right over there!"
Jan 11 20:02:08 <NardtheBard> I don't think you need luck, or gods, btw, just a good USB cable, the right drivers, and a USB port connected directly to your motherboard
Jan 11 20:02:11 <puntloos> Haha =)
Jan 11 20:02:35 <puntloos> "the unknown" is just his middle name.
Jan 11 20:03:47 * NardtheBard speculates on his first name.
Jan 11 20:04:23 <puntloos> I'm going for 'Willy'
Jan 11 20:04:29 <puntloos> suitably nordic
Jan 11 20:04:42 <NardtheBard> Willy Smite Me?
Jan 11 20:05:15 <puntloos> that would be an unfortunate epitaph
Jan 11 20:22:05 <NardtheBard> ok now we're getting somewhere
Jan 11 20:22:29 <NardtheBard> I've got a properly matched set of prima drivers and wcnss
Jan 11 20:22:37 <NardtheBard> it's refusing to load the new firmware though
Jan 11 21:15:45 <NardtheBard> anybody know how to reverse engineer a PIL firmware metadata file?
Jan 11 21:35:52 <NardtheBard> Samsung appears to be enforcing some kind of signature verification on this firmware
Jan 11 21:36:20 <NardtheBard> I've bypassed the software checks and it's still not loading
Jan 11 21:56:18 <Eugene_373> NardtheBard I can't get past reboot issues loading the wifi.ko
Jan 11 21:56:57 <NardtheBard> I'm trying a different tack
Jan 11 21:57:22 <NardtheBard> On the HTC Ville they managed to load the Prima driver by using another device's WCNSS firmware
Jan 11 21:57:27 <Eugene_373> I have the ril unsecure... module loading hack in place + Tainted module
Jan 11 21:57:27 <NardtheBard> apart from the prima firmware
Jan 11 21:57:33 <Eugene_373> but I still reboot
Jan 11 21:57:46 <Eugene_373> Yeah I have that stack already
Jan 11 21:57:59 <NardtheBard> you put in the patch I linked to earlier?
Jan 11 21:58:11 <Eugene_373> they are using the htc_wlan_nv file from htc
Jan 11 21:58:18 <Eugene_373> we can't use that
Jan 11 21:58:52 <NardtheBard> and you have the xperia t wcnss firmware?
Jan 11 21:59:06 <NardtheBard> because i can't even get mine to load the xperia t firmware
Jan 11 21:59:08 <Eugene_373> I've had it a few days now... I came across the same & that how I found the missing call points
Jan 11 21:59:19 <Eugene_373> I get a reboot loading any firmware
Jan 11 21:59:47 <NardtheBard> I'm not talking about the prima firmware
Jan 11 22:00:07 <NardtheBard> I'm talking about wcnss.b00 .b01 .b02 .b04 and .mdt
Jan 11 22:00:07 <Eugene_373> I don't have the xperia firmware no
Jan 11 22:00:33 <NardtheBard> apparently you need to match THAT to the prima driver as well as the prima firmware in order to get it to load
Jan 11 22:00:34 <Eugene_373> hm.. think I'll have to try that
Jan 11 22:00:53 <Eugene_373> I'll repo sync the latest 3.0.31 build I'm using
Jan 11 22:00:55 <NardtheBard> and you need to patch the pil driver
Jan 11 22:01:04 <Eugene_373> already have it patched
Jan 11 22:02:03 <Eugene_373> Moreless I've done all that, but use xperia firmware
Jan 11 22:02:28 <NardtheBard> https://github.com/TheMuppets/proprietary_vendor_htc/tree/cm-10.1/ville/proprietary/etc/firmware
Jan 11 22:02:37 <NardtheBard> and you need the exact driver that goes with that
Jan 11 22:02:46 <Eugene_373> Cool thanks
Jan 11 22:02:57 <Eugene_373> Pushing to the 3.0.31 so you can see what I pushed
Jan 11 22:03:38 <NardtheBard> https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_kernel_htc_msm8960/tree/cm-10.1/drivers/staging/prima
Jan 11 22:04:11 <NardtheBard> Anyway that driver and that firmware go together, but even with insecure riva dmesg says it can't load the firmware
Jan 11 22:04:41 <NardtheBard> I tried to be sneaky and load the sammy wcnss.mdt file back and then it gave me a different error
Jan 11 22:04:53 <NardtheBard> it said the blobs failed verification
Jan 11 22:05:07 <NardtheBard> so despite my efforts it's still enforcing sigs
Jan 11 22:05:31 <Eugene_373> def. going to play with that firmware then
Jan 11 22:05:46 <Eugene_373> I think mine loads, but not sure what fails to cause a reboot
Jan 11 22:06:17 <Eugene_373> latest push of the Comanche source for the Relay https://github.com/eugene373/Kernel/commit/b19e18cea007c9108713dabc9d2b270ad5e5eeda
Jan 11 22:06:41 <NardtheBard> This document describes the PIL loading process http://tenderloin.bricked.googlecod...628c004eb44768b/Documentation/arm/msm/pil.txt
Jan 11 22:06:46 <Eugene_373> I said ICS but it's the JB
Jan 11 22:07:06 <Eugene_373> thx
Jan 11 22:07:27 <NardtheBard> Is your source overclocked or anything?
Jan 11 22:07:32 <Eugene_373> where is the firmware that matches that?
Jan 11 22:07:48 <NardtheBard> first link I gave above
Jan 11 22:07:52 <Eugene_373> no that source is plane-jane
Jan 11 22:07:58 <NardtheBard> wcnss.* files and the prima directory
Jan 11 22:08:03 <Eugene_373> I see prima but not the firmware
Jan 11 22:08:28 <NardtheBard> no, the link before that
Jan 11 22:09:09 <Eugene_373> oh lol
Jan 11 22:09:14 <NardtheBard> heh
Jan 11 22:09:22 <NardtheBard> so the wlan/prima directory, and wcnss.*
Jan 11 22:09:37 <NardtheBard> compare the .mdt files in a hex editor
Jan 11 22:09:55 <NardtheBard> samsung is gung ho on the signature enforcement, there's even CRL information in there
Jan 11 22:10:23 <NardtheBard> if you use the sammy mdt with the wrong blobs you get a signature error
Jan 11 22:10:43 <NardtheBard> if you use the wrong mdt it just says invalid firmware metadata
Jan 11 22:11:19 <NardtheBard> we need to figure out what it's using to parse the metadata
Jan 11 22:11:22 <NardtheBard> is it in the kernel?
Jan 11 22:11:25 <NardtheBard> or is it hardware
Jan 11 22:11:59 <Eugene_373> well I hope it's not harware
Jan 11 22:12:05 <Eugene_373> that's going to suck
Jan 11 22:13:43 <NardtheBard> you're saying it's not going to work because it's htc, but xperia t is sony so ;p
Jan 11 22:14:22 <NardtheBard> might give the mako stuff another go now that I know everything to try
Jan 11 22:14:23 <Eugene_373> hmmm.... I figured they was reading from the HTC_NVS
Jan 11 22:14:28 <Eugene_373> Happy to be wrong
Jan 11 22:14:56 <NardtheBard> I looked at that, it's exposing the htc nv to userspace
Jan 11 22:15:02 <Eugene_373> awe
Jan 11 22:15:04 <NardtheBard> I'm not sure why it would matter
Jan 11 22:15:22 <Eugene_373> What I saw it was reading the calibration file from the bootloader
Jan 11 22:15:28 <NardtheBard> yes that ;p
Jan 11 22:15:35 <Eugene_373> that's why I said I didn't think it would work
Jan 11 22:15:54 <Eugene_373> idk, worth a try
Jan 11 22:16:05 <NardtheBard> could try the mako again then
Jan 11 22:16:15 <NardtheBard> and apparently the atrix hd has a prima
Jan 11 22:16:22 <Eugene_373> awe
Jan 11 22:16:29 <Eugene_373> might look into that as well
Jan 11 22:16:38 <NardtheBard> pity there's no samsung devices with working ports on the prima
Jan 11 22:16:52 <NardtheBard> I've identified the comanche, us, and the aegis2
Jan 11 22:17:04 <Eugene_373> ?
Jan 11 22:17:18 <NardtheBard> samsung devices with the prima
Jan 11 22:17:20 <Eugene_373> I thought the Galaxy S2 Intl. used prima
Jan 11 22:17:25 <NardtheBard> did it?
Jan 11 22:17:31 <Eugene_373> legacy I think
Jan 11 22:17:39 <Eugene_373> I'm almost sure that it does
Jan 11 22:17:45 <NardtheBard> did they every successfully open source it? ;p
Jan 11 22:18:02 <Eugene_373> idk to be honest... didn't even think about it now until you said that
Jan 11 22:19:05 <Eugene_373> so all the wcnss need to be swapped as well
Jan 11 22:19:11 <Eugene_373> didn't even think about that
Jan 11 22:19:23 <NardtheBard> Found that out today
Jan 11 22:19:35 <Eugene_373> wow sammy is ood at times
Jan 11 22:20:37 <NardtheBard> galaxy s ii is not prima
Jan 11 22:20:41 <NardtheBard> it's not even qualcomm
Jan 11 22:21:54 <Eugene_373> I found something that was intl. that had the legacy prima source
Jan 11 22:23:26 <NardtheBard> no way
Jan 11 22:24:25 <Eugene_373> yes
Jan 11 22:24:48 <Eugene_373> just not sure what the phone was now & yes it was legacy prima
Jan 11 22:24:56 <Eugene_373> built as the prima_wlan though
Jan 11 22:25:45 <NardtheBard> hopefully we can find that again
Jan 11 22:27:14 <Eugene_373> I think I found it by searching prima_wlan
Jan 11 22:29:33 <Eugene_373> nice, Phone still reboots
Jan 11 22:30:16 <NardtheBard> you changed out the firmware?
Jan 11 22:30:23 <Eugene_373> yup
Jan 11 22:30:28 <NardtheBard> mine doesn't even try to load the firmware
Jan 11 22:30:39 <NardtheBard> and you built the new driver? that fast? crap
Jan 11 22:30:46 <Eugene_373> yeah?

Jan 12 09:51:09 <puntloos> hey nardthebard, had to go to bed over here.. but a quick question: how does one boot into recovery? T688 galaxy relay?
Jan 12 09:51:18 <puntloos> some combination of hardware buttons Im sure
Jan 12 09:51:23 <puntloos> volume down and power?
Jan 12 09:51:33 <puntloos> er t699
Jan 12 10:05:38 <puntloos> Basically when I boot with volume down and power, nothing happens, until I let go of those buttons.
Jan 12 10:05:46 <puntloos> If I do, the phone seems to boot into normal mode
Jan 12 10:06:51 <puntloos> maybe that is actually the recovery mode (?) but I would've expected some different display
Jan 12 12:22:52 <Eugene_373> hey NardtheBard do you have a git repo? I'm positive I've done everything you have & I result in reboots... Maybe it's the 3.0.31 kernel source?
Jan 12 12:24:01 <Eugene_373> okay, going to drop in all the parts into the stock kernel source & see what happens
Jan 12 12:30:51 <Eugene_373> whoops..... forgot about the wcnss
Jan 12 12:31:27 <Eugene_373> gues I'm not used to all the ccrapp needed to make wifi work
Jan 12 12:32:48 * Nardthe77 ([email protected]/Nard-the-Bard) has joined #apexqtmo
Jan 12 12:35:15 <Nardthe77> I think there may be a permissions or service issue with restarting the driver
Jan 12 12:35:29 <Nardthe77> it will only cycle on or off once per boot
Jan 12 12:35:46 <Eugene_373> check caf? I thought I seen a fix for reloading a dirty module after unload failed
Jan 12 12:35:51 <Nardthe77> but it's running!
Jan 12 12:36:05 <Eugene_373> gratz
Jan 12 12:36:35 <Eugene_373> I forgot about the wcnss folder, I grab the firmware but didn't match it in the kernel
Jan 12 12:36:41 <Eugene_373> maybe this is why I reboot?
Jan 12 12:37:02 <Nardthe77> maybe
Jan 12 12:37:18 <Eugene_373> hey check the ip6 settings
Jan 12 12:37:31 <Eugene_373> if those are not set correctly no tethering will work
Jan 12 12:37:40 <Nardthe77> I also made some minor modifications to the startup scripts, I borrowed an ssr script from the mako
Jan 12 12:37:40 <Eugene_373> also it might be in the framework-res.apk
Jan 12 12:38:03 <Eugene_373> ssr script?
Jan 12 12:38:07 <Nardthe77> and did away with the wlan.ko symlink
Jan 12 12:38:17 <Eugene_373> awe
Jan 12 12:38:45 <Nardthe77> the driver in my build is just straight up system/lib/modules/prima_wlan.ko
Jan 12 12:39:00 <Eugene_373> 1.7mb?
Jan 12 12:40:09 <Nardthe77> 1.66
Jan 12 12:41:34 <Nardthe77> I'm going to look over the ville and mako and atrix hd startup scripts
Jan 12 12:41:45 <Nardthe77> the answer has got to be there
Jan 12 12:41:54 <Eugene_373> might be
Jan 12 12:42:18 <Nardthe77> i shouldn't have to patch this driver from caf
Jan 12 12:42:30 <Eugene_373> 3.1.7.16
Jan 12 12:42:34 <Eugene_373> old
Jan 12 12:42:44 <Eugene_373> but, then again it might break the wcnn
Jan 12 12:42:54 <Eugene_373> idk... I'd be afrid to change the source
Jan 12 12:43:08 <Nardthe77> the ville is also using a 3.0 kernel

Jan 12 12:44:08 <Eugene_373> forgot the pil hack
Jan 12 12:46:23 <Nardthe77> for some reason mine didn't work, I think it may have been a caching issue in my build
Jan 12 12:46:55 <Nardthe77> i ended up just ripping out the secure pil code lol

Jan 12 15:51:20 <Eugene_373> awe
Jan 12 15:51:43 <NardtheBard> let me push my crap up
Jan 12 16:00:05 * opticron watches the progress intently
Jan 12 16:01:57 <puntloos> Hey Nardthebard, got 2 questions: 1/ Is there a recent modem binary somewhere for the T699? I'd like to update that one too since I'm getting crashes.
Jan 12 16:04:06 <puntloos> and 2/ recovery mode.. I have the device 100% turned off, power it on by pushing vol down and power.... one buzz but screen stays black.. if I let go of the buttons it just boots normally
Jan 12 16:04:30 <puntloos> am I doing something wrong or is the 'normal boot' actually some recovery boot? (honestly I'm not sure what to expect.. I was expecting a special recovery menu)
Jan 12 16:04:52 <NardtheBard> refspec master does not match any? argh I hate git
Jan 12 16:05:10 <NardtheBard> If your modem binary is crashing flash back to stock
Jan 12 16:05:42 <puntloos> I can do that just with odin and using that stock image?
Jan 12 16:05:46 <NardtheBard> yes
Jan 12 16:05:56 <puntloos> cool, will give that a try
Jan 12 16:05:56 <NardtheBard> how the frack do i create a git repository?
Jan 12 16:06:40 <teferi> git init
Jan 12 16:08:02 <puntloos> and then git start for a new branch
Jan 12 16:08:16 <puntloos> Do the above 2 in a new directory
Jan 12 16:08:17 <NardtheBard> family calls
Jan 12 16:08:26 <NardtheBard> will figure it out later
Jan 12 16:08:29 <puntloos> g'luck
Jan 12 16:08:31 <puntloos> thanks =)
Jan 12 16:09:41 <puntloos> hey teferi, I'm suspecting my phone has an 'ancient' modem/radio stack.. will just flashing the device itself to stock fix this? Or are there modem stack images floating around that I should odin into the device?
Jan 12 16:09:56 <teferi> dunno
Jan 12 16:11:01 <puntloos> k I guess I'll just give it a shot.
Jan 12 16:26:41 <NardtheBard> I have a CWM modem available
Jan 12 16:27:06 <NardtheBard> puntloos: what's your baseband version?
Jan 12 16:34:27 <puntloos> Nard: er.. don't know and cant check cause I'm flashing the image as we speak
Jan 12 16:34:32 <puntloos> lets just say "very old"
Jan 12 16:35:03 <puntloos> (now flashing t699UVALJ1_t699TMBALJ1_T699UVALJ1_Home
Jan 12 16:36:38 <puntloos> (on a mildly unstable windows machine.. lets hope it doesn't crash now..)
Jan 12 16:38:23 <puntloos> OK.. flashing is not.. completely unsuccesful at least.
Jan 12 16:39:50 <puntloos> "android is upgrading" (after a pretty scary few minutes just flashing 'samsung'...)
Jan 12 16:42:06 <puntloos> OK the device seems to be alive.. thanks so far Nard. to answer your question.. baseband: t699UVLJ1 now

Jan 12 16:54:29 <puntloos> btw will the thing I flashed from you also auto-update or will tmobile/samsung know Ive updated custom?

Jan 12 17:01:23 <NardtheBard> you should be completely back to stock and kies should recognize it
Jan 12 17:01:38 <NardtheBard> if not, the next stock rom will be downloadable
Jan 12 17:02:28 <Dillalade> guys, what is the relevance of the 'flash counter', does it matter if it increments?
Jan 12 17:05:17 <puntloos> dilla: mainly samsung not giving you warranty
Jan 12 17:05:37 <opticron> you can reset it now, though

Jan 12 17:07:53 <Dillalade> aha, thanks for the info opti
Jan 12 17:08:22 <opticron> doesn't say galaxy s relay 4g is a supported device, so may need tweaks for that phone
Jan 12 17:09:08 <puntloos> plus it needs root
Jan 12 17:09:14 <opticron> yeah
Jan 12 17:10:04 <opticron> but it does support the US versions of the SGS3, so there's a good chance it'll work
Jan 12 17:10:18 <NardtheBard> ooo it says qualcomm based devices are now supported

Jan 12 17:49:14 <NardtheBard> That seems very odd. What are the symptoms?
Jan 12 17:49:26 <NardtheBard> Is it rooted? What are you using to root?
Jan 12 17:49:36 <puntloos> Just flashed with Odin, not rooted device.
Jan 12 17:49:43 <puntloos> did not factory reset though, shall I do that?
Jan 12 17:49:57 <NardtheBard> that would have been the first thing I tried

Jan 12 17:51:48 <NardtheBard> meh if you figured it out then you don't need my stuff
Jan 12 17:52:12 <Eugene_373> I said it loaded on my 3.0.57 kernel lol... well, thought I did
Jan 12 17:52:46 <Eugene_373> Loads fine, but once you unload it... kinda screws the pooch
Jan 12 17:53:00 <NardtheBard> yes and that's why tethering doesn't work on it
Jan 12 17:53:09 <NardtheBard> Where did you get a 3.0.57 kernel?
Jan 12 17:53:34 <Eugene_373> it's my Patched kernel... also got it working on the 3.0.31 kerenl from the Comanche
Jan 12 17:53:47 <Eugene_373> and the 3.0.8 lol
Jan 12 17:54:03 <NardtheBard> yeah that's my 3.0.8 kernel with a few of my tweaks
Jan 12 17:54:08 <Eugene_373> awe
Jan 12 17:54:17 <Eugene_373> well going to push to the Comanche relay source
Jan 12 17:54:32 <Eugene_373> I like that source better since LPA works better with that kernel
Jan 12 17:54:38 <NardtheBard> now that you've finally figured out where all the blobs go
Jan 12 17:54:46 <Eugene_373> yeah
Jan 12 17:54:59 <NardtheBard> maybe you could try a different set of firmware and driver
Jan 12 17:55:03 <Eugene_373> Just odd, never had to work this hard to get wifi going

Jan 12 18:03:07 <NardtheBard> we're literally stealing their work
Jan 12 18:03:23 <NardtheBard> which is why I'm sure the solution to the driver loading is somewhere in there too
Jan 12 18:04:03 <NardtheBard> not entirely sure why they got the bright idea to use xperia t, my guess is sony was better about the open source
Jan 12 18:04:19 <NardtheBard> might be some clues in the xperia t code too

Jan 12 19:58:03 <Eugene_373> so .8 & .31 is stock from sammy & I patched up to .57 with fixing compiling issues here & there.

Jan 12 20:00:00 <Eugene_373> 49 patches

Jan 12 20:04:59 <NardtheBard> there should be an overlay file corresponding to it

Jan 13 13:14:40 <Hymie> oh
Jan 13 13:14:43 <NardtheBard> inheritance ax, for when you can't wait for natural causes
Jan 13 13:14:58 <NardtheBard> damn Hymie beat me
Jan 13 13:15:28 <NardtheBard> 100% inheritance tax? that's just going to penalize the stupid
Jan 13 13:15:42 <NardtheBard> the rich would still set up corporations and trusts to convey wealth
Jan 13 13:16:08 <bkero> Which get double taxed anyways
Jan 13 13:16:27 <NardtheBard> I read about a scam that's ingenious
Jan 13 13:16:41 <NardtheBard> Nevada and Delaware allow anoymous corporations
Jan 13 13:16:56 <NardtheBard> overseas tax shelters do not
Jan 13 13:17:07 <Hymie> you know what I find amusing? I'm a Canadian, and up here, there was no property tax until WWI, when it was setup to pay for the war effort (and, then never removed). And, at that time, almost all tax was paid for by corporations
Jan 13 13:17:19 <Hymie> of course, back then, we didn't have paved roads, or 1000 other things we do now
Jan 13 13:17:19 <NardtheBard> But you can have your anonymous Nevada corporation own your overseas tax shelter
Jan 13 13:17:27 <Hymie> my grandparents used to have to maintain their own road
Jan 13 13:17:35 <Hymie> but, cars were new then
Jan 13 13:17:55 <Hymie> but what really erks me is taxing one thing, and using it to pay for another
Jan 13 13:18:16 <Hymie> I pay a gas tax up here, and you guys do to.. it bothers me that every dollar taken in a gas tax, isn't used on road maintenenace
Jan 13 13:18:22 <NardtheBard> so all bridges would be toll bridges in your world?
Jan 13 13:18:34 <Hymie> we also have IE (employement insurace).. that gets used for other funds too
Jan 13 13:18:44 <Hymie> don't need toll bridges, the gas tax more than covers everything
Jan 13 13:18:54 <NardtheBard> the CIA would fund itself entirely through selling drugs (which they do anyway)
Jan 13 13:19:28 <Hymie> but, what's really happened is that in the last 100 years
Jan 13 13:19:33 <Hymie> corporations used to pay most of the tax
Jan 13 13:19:47 <Hymie> then, that was shifted from corporate shoulders, to indivdiausl -- but here's the nasty part.
Jan 13 13:19:55 <NardtheBard> we also allowed them to get filthy stinking rich by abusing the masses
Jan 13 13:20:00 <NardtheBard> so they could afford that tax
Jan 13 13:20:03 <Hymie> they still paid the tax, because of course that tax makes up wages, which makes up the cost of part of their budget
Jan 13 13:20:30 <Hymie> unfortunately, with outsources, corproations have entirely gotten around paying any tax. That's what outsourcing is, more than anything. A way to get around paying domestic income tax
Jan 13 13:21:01 <NardtheBard> sure, Apple in China charges $600 for a $650 iphone
Jan 13 13:21:11 <NardtheBard> so Apple US only logs a $50 profit
Jan 13 13:21:18 <Hymie> (eg since domestic employee's income tax used to come out of domestic company's coffers, and now it doesn't)
Jan 13 13:21:43 <Hymie> that's not what I'm referring to though, I'm referring to the income tax you pay, which is part of your wage, which is part of what a company pays you
Jan 13 13:22:07 <Hymie> eg the company that pays your wage is still paying the lion's share of the tax roll
Jan 13 13:22:48 <Hymie> the real enemy to taxation is free trade, it's a crock
Jan 13 13:22:53 <Hymie> yes, sure, it helps to have free trade
Jan 13 13:23:03 <Hymie> that's certainly true, and definitely a job creator
Jan 13 13:23:17 <Hymie> but it's being abused, as in any imperfect scenario, by companies seeking lower tax shelters
Jan 13 13:23:40 <Hymie> the real goal should be to get companies like china to tax morem, and use that tax to pay for roads, health care, etc... then they would be less competitive.
Jan 13 13:24:09 <NardtheBard> well look at NAFTA. Cotton is grown in the US, it is shipped to Mexico tax-free to make underwear, which is then shipped to Canada tax-free to sell
Jan 13 13:24:19 <Hymie> or, we could just put duty on anything coming from china, AND COLLECT A STIPEDEND BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF TAX COLLECTED!
Jan 13 13:24:26 <Hymie> yup
Jan 13 13:24:29 <NardtheBard> but the price of underwear didn't come down just because they eliminated the tax
Jan 13 13:24:43 <Hymie> mexico is the real problem in that equation though. the wage differential
Jan 13 13:24:56 <Hymie> and notice -- that has decreased markedly over the last 20 years
Jan 13 13:25:18 <Hymie> free trade is a way to increase the plight of the poor, and this is true of chian too
Jan 13 13:25:29 <Hymie> it actually has a middle class now, and wages are increasing dramatically
Jan 13 13:25:33 <Hymie> eventually, china will be like japan
Jan 13 13:25:40 <Hymie> eg not cheap labour any more
Jan 13 13:25:50 <Hymie> taxing like any other juristicion
Jan 13 13:26:21 <Hymie> the real enemy is the bank
Jan 13 13:26:27 <Hymie> the bank councils governments to borrow money
Jan 13 13:26:51 <Hymie> "how should we forge economic policy", the government asks economists -- and, the lead economists are, wait for it, bankers
Jan 13 13:26:57 <Hymie> which make trillions loaning to governments
Jan 13 13:27:03 <Hymie> so, what is the suggestion banks make?
Jan 13 13:27:07 <Hymie> "borrow the money"
Jan 13 13:27:28 <NardtheBard> I was reading about how ironically China is losing jobs to Indonesia
Jan 13 13:27:51 <Hymie> all of our textbooks are literally written by lead economists, all of our future economists in top knotch schools are taught by leading economists, and all those leading economists work for .... banks and investment houses
Jan 13 13:27:56 <Hymie> that I can believe
Jan 13 13:28:04 <Hymie> their wages have gone up quite a bit...
Jan 13 13:28:16 <NardtheBard> eventually all manufacturing will be done in Africa
Jan 13 13:28:29 <Hymie> until they become better off ;D
Jan 13 13:28:32 <NardtheBard> but what happens when wages in Africa come up to world standards
Jan 13 13:28:35 <NardtheBard> yes dammit
Jan 13 13:28:36 <Hymie> it's just a merry go round
Jan 13 13:28:51 <Hymie> but, here's the problem, the fact that few people will be doing manual labour soon
Jan 13 13:29:03 <Hymie> what happens when walmart lays off 80% of its workforce over the next 5 years?
Jan 13 13:29:14 <Hymie> as it mechanisizes almost all aspects of its operation?
Jan 13 13:29:26 <Hymie> what happens when trucks auto-drive freight around?
Jan 13 13:29:30 <Hymie> mining is 100% automated?
Jan 13 13:29:49 <NardtheBard> You know why George Jetson couldn't be fired, right?
Jan 13 13:29:52 <Hymie> and, with innovation in computer tech, even white collar jobs are disappearing
Jan 13 13:29:56 <Hymie> the button
Jan 13 13:30:01 <Hymie> that I do recall
Jan 13 13:30:07 <Hymie> what is a union thing?
Jan 13 13:30:12 <NardtheBard> He was considered a menial laborer because he did physical work
Jan 13 13:30:22 <Hymie> right, heh
Jan 13 13:31:30 <NardtheBard> ok so you've hit the nail on the head
Jan 13 13:32:01 <NardtheBard> the poor become rich by selling their labor
Jan 13 13:32:09 <NardtheBard> this is an economic bedrock
Jan 13 13:32:19 <NardtheBard> what happens when the labor is not necessary?
Jan 13 13:32:52 <bkero> The poor do not become rich by sellinf their labor.
Jan 13 13:32:58 <bkero> The poor sustain themselves by selling their labor.
Jan 13 13:32:58 <NardtheBard> you have a huge class of unemployable people, people who otherwise would be perfectly employable
Jan 13 13:33:29 <NardtheBard> ok fair enough
Jan 13 13:33:51 <Hymie> http://marshallbrain.com/robots-in-2015.htm
Jan 13 13:33:55 * Hymie checks
Jan 13 13:33:57 <Hymie> this seems like it
Jan 13 13:34:01 <Hymie> was written a decade ago
Jan 13 13:34:11 <NardtheBard> and job retraining only works so much, there are only so many tech jobs, and lots of people just aren't capable of doing tech jobs
Jan 13 13:34:30 <NardtheBard> I say we identify such people, and give them a budget to drink their sorrows away
Jan 13 13:35:08 <Hymie> http://marshallbrain.com/robotic-nation.htm
Jan 13 13:35:11 <Hymie> here's where to start
Jan 13 13:35:20 <Hymie> the guy breaks it down into manual labour jobs that can be replaced
Jan 13 13:35:27 <Hymie> by robots, etc
Jan 13 13:36:12 <Hymie> yes, there is that.. but, if you kill 1/2 the population because they are too stupid, then you reduce those consuming products, which means that of the remaining population .. 1/2 as many jobs will be available for white collar work
Jan 13 13:37:11 <Hymie>
Jan 13 13:38:02 <Hymie> here's the truth in this guy's article. He says that at some point, some big retailer will introduce automated inventory management. RFID tags plus robots and automated checkouts, etc. And, if one retailer does it, and reaps the savings, than any other retailer that wants to stay in business will have to follow
Jan 13 13:38:05 <Hymie>
Jan 13 13:38:30 <Hymie> whivh is precisely what happened with exporting our production to china. Walmart started it, but everyone had to follow, otherwise their product would be too expensive
Jan 13 13:38:40 <Hymie> so, that said, the same is true of any fast food restaraunt
Jan 13 13:39:23 <Hymie> the first to use automated machines to cook fries and big macs, and turn 70 employees in a restaruant into 2, will force the rest to follow
Jan 13 13:40:09 <NardtheBard> ****ing samsung
Jan 13 13:40:19 <Hymie> yes, their robots will be the biggest part of the problem!
Jan 13 13:40:30 <NardtheBard> the driver's not unloading because of d2 inheritance on wifi
Jan 13 13:40:33 <Hymie> they'll be closed source, and buggy, and we'll end up with them trying to take over the world
Jan 13 13:40:40 <Hymie> oh
Jan 13 13:40:40 <Hymie> that
Jan 13 13:42:30 <NardtheBard> we really should break free from that and combine our *3* folders into one device folder
Jan 13 13:46:11 <NardtheBard> there's only one solution really
Jan 13 13:48:46 <NardtheBard> let the module handle its own reloading if userspace won't cooperate
Jan 13 13:52:21 <NardtheBard> that article doesn't say when I can buy a fully functional sexbot
Jan 13 14:09:20 <Hymie> heh
Jan 13 14:10:37 <NardtheBard> well I can add a custom wifi.c to force the driver to unload when it loads
Jan 13 14:10:47 <NardtheBard> seems like there should be a better solution
Jan 13 14:11:09 <NardtheBard> that doesn't actually solve the problem, it keeps it loaded all the time
Jan 13 14:59:07 <NardtheBard> hm, in cm-10.1 it looks like they eliminated the check to see if the wifi driver is already loaded before loading it again
Jan 13 14:59:46 <NardtheBard> I wish I knew someone who owned a One S to ask them if the prima driver stays loaded all the time
Jan 13 15:07:58 <NardtheBard> From the looks of it they never bothered trying to use the open source prima driver in ics
Jan 13 15:35:46 <NardtheBard> what were the reasons we weren't on cm 10? I know it was Samsung blobs, we got wifi down, what else was there? ;p
Jan 13 15:59:21 <NardtheBard> ok the ville guys say they haven't done anything special to make the driver unload after use
Jan 13 15:59:36 <NardtheBard> so I'm thinking it's just some bug in cm9
Jan 13 16:02:48 <NardtheBard> that's up to 2 the list of unfixable stuff due to CM9
Jan 13 16:02:54 <NardtheBard> multi-part SMS and now this
Jan 13 16:31:10 <Hymie> cm9 is not very polished
Jan 13 16:31:15 <Hymie> every rom I've seen shows that
Jan 13 16:31:19 <Hymie> so I wouldn't be surprised
Jan 13 17:00:34 <opticron> well, it was the slightly polished version of honeycomb
Jan 13 17:01:04 <opticron> there's good reason they didn't release HC source until it was not worth touching
Jan 13 19:00:26 <NardtheBard> oh ffs that's subtle
Jan 13 19:00:47 <NardtheBard> cyanogenmod loads wifi modules by absolute path, but it unloads them by module name
Jan 13 19:01:27 <NardtheBard> guess who said "why the **** do we *need* that symlink?"
Jan 13 19:01:43 <opticron> lol
Jan 13 19:13:42 <NardtheBard> actually it's samsung's fault. they magically named their prima_wlan module as wlan internally, which confused the hell out of me
Jan 13 19:14:23 <NardtheBard> and then they set up the symlink to perpetuate the magic
Jan 13 19:16:33 <NardtheBard> For the life of me I can't figure out how or *why* they'd do that
Jan 13 19:57:36 <NardtheBard> Eugene_373: Samsung sucks soooo bad. The driver wasn't unloading because we have our environment set up to use their driver which magically uses a different name internally
Jan 13 19:58:38 <NardtheBard> in other news, the open source prima driver now works 100%, tethering and wifi p2p turn on, they *should work*
Jan 13 19:59:35 <NardtheBard> as soon as I can figure out github I'll push it up, and then teferi will release it in about 3 months
Jan 13 20:58:06 * opticron applauds
Jan 13 21:05:31 * dippingsauce bows
Jan 13 21:10:06 <NardtheBard> no I take that back

Jan 14 11:50:14 <teferi> device to device communication
Jan 14 11:50:21 <teferi> like wifi ad-hoc mode or a bluetooth pair
Jan 14 11:50:54 <somebody> I get that, but what can it actually be used for on an Android device?
Jan 14 11:51:36 <teferi> sharing files, contacts, that sort of thing
Jan 14 11:53:14 <somebody> is BT not better for these things? Or are we talking BT3 == wifi direct?

Jan 14 14:58:51 <somebody> All ok NardtheBard?
Jan 14 15:07:30 <Kanerix> Has it been reported that Wifi Tethering doesn't work?
Jan 14 15:09:28 <somebody> On the 12/8 build? I believe that is well known. Big work going on wrt wifi drivers.
Jan 14 15:10:04 <Kanerix> My buddy needed to do something on his iphone but had no cell signal
Jan 14 15:10:13 <Kanerix> I had about a 14 megabit connection at the time
Jan 14 15:10:26 <Kanerix> and his iphone was retarded vs bluetooth tethering
Jan 14 15:10:45 <Kanerix> bluetooth tethering works great with other devices, so it's not my phone
Jan 14 15:10:59 <Kanerix> Went to try wifi and it had issues.
Jan 14 15:11:07 <Kanerix> So I'm glad that's known and worked on =)
Jan 14 15:13:04 <somebody> Nard reported tethering functional yesterday evening with the 'now working' open source prima driver.
Jan 14 15:19:29 <NardtheBard> i can get tethering to turn on
Jan 14 15:19:37 <NardtheBard> it doesn't actually work
Jan 14 15:22:16 <NardtheBard> and the functionality changes depending on which name you build the module with
Jan 14 15:23:35 <NardtheBard> i'm going to run the sammy .so's through strings and look for wlan and prima
Jan 14 15:26:40 <NardtheBard> we were operating under the assumption the problem was in the wifi driver
Jan 14 15:26:52 <NardtheBard> hence the sigh
Jan 14 15:29:17 <somebody> I'm gathering that the driver loads, once, but doesn't unload as a result of the different name?
Jan 14 15:29:39 <NardtheBard> no that was an easily solved problem
Jan 14 15:29:50 <NardtheBard> i just changed the name
Jan 14 15:30:11 <NardtheBard> and discovered something in the process
Jan 14 15:31:02 <NardtheBard> when you build the driver as prima_wlan tethering turns on but doesn't work
Jan 14 15:31:31 <NardtheBard> and p2p throws errors about being unable to load firmware
Jan 14 15:32:14 <NardtheBard> when you build it as wlan it behaves exactly like the stock driver
Jan 14 15:32:44 <NardtheBard> tethering and p2p simply refuse to turn on without throwing any errors

Jan 14 15:34:14 <Nardthe45> this whole time we assumed it was a driver issue
Jan 14 15:34:45 <somebody> So.. the blob is asking the driver "whats my name" and saying "get bent" if it doesn't like it?
Jan 14 15:35:11 <Nardthe45> kind of
Jan 14 15:35:35 <Nardthe45> it's got to be a lib or permissions issue

Jan 14 15:50:04 <NardtheBard> not sure, we have people here who understand this stuff
Jan 14 15:52:06 <NardtheBard> But someone will discover the answer I'm sure
Jan 14 15:52:46 <NardtheBard> but I can quite definitely say the wifi driver is not the source of the inability to tether
Jan 14 15:54:53 <somebody> I guess I'm not clear on HOW the wifi can work, but tethering not.. tethering is just wifi + DHCP + NAT (iptables).
Jan 14 15:56:42 <somebody> And p2p is tethering without the NAT.
Jan 14 16:00:10 <Eugene_373> Hey NardtheBard
Jan 14 16:00:50 <Eugene_373> Something I noticed when building as prima_wlan.ko, it wouldn't connect to my router
Jan 14 16:01:11 <Eugene_373> when I build using wlan & doing the rename it connected fine..
Jan 14 16:01:25 <Eugene_373> just odd
Jan 14 16:03:50 <somebody> NardtheBard: have you tried setting up tethering manually? Enable ip_forward, add nat table, hostapd, etc.?
Jan 14 16:05:27 <somebody> Er, scratch that, forget the forwarding and nat, just see if you can set up hostapd, master mode, set static IP's and see if you can ping it from another wifi device.
Jan 14 16:06:49 <NardtheBard> Eugene_373: there's a flag in boardcommon config telling android what name to expect for a wifi driver
Jan 14 16:07:00 <NardtheBard> no need to rename actually
Jan 14 16:07:47 <NardtheBard> somebody: I know how to enable forwarding but not the rest of that lol
Jan 14 16:09:31 <somebody> Not difficult. Its home time for me, so gotta run, may be online later. Here's a link that should might help: http://exain.wordpress.com/2011/03/...s-point-using-linux-wifi-lan-cardusb-adapter/
Jan 14 16:09:47 <NardtheBard> k I'll look
Jan 14 16:10:13 <Eugene_373> NardtheBard , no I mean it works the same, turns on & everything... just wont connect.
Jan 14 16:10:27 <NardtheBard> odd, it worked for me
Jan 14 16:10:34 <Eugene_373> wpa?
Jan 14 16:10:59 <Eugene_373> well, it's wpa2
Jan 14 16:11:04 <NardtheBard> you mean just normal wifi? yeah
Jan 14 16:11:39 <Eugene_373> odd?
Jan 14 16:12:06 <NardtheBard> Eugene_373: you may have to rebuild your userspace and tell android to look for prima_wlan
Jan 14 16:12:21 <NardtheBard> that also solves the toggle on off problem
Jan 14 16:12:27 <Eugene_373> lol yeah I shoould do that
Jan 14 16:13:01 <NardtheBard> but it also introduces some interesting phenomena
Jan 14 16:13:09 <Eugene_373> like?
Jan 14 16:13:21 <NardtheBard> wifi and p2p actually start generating erros
Jan 14 16:13:39 <NardtheBard> instead of just turning on and doing nothing
Jan 14 16:13:54 <NardtheBard> or rather hanging while turning on
Jan 14 16:14:38 <NardtheBard> it is my belief there is something, perhaps in the stock .so's interacting with wlan
Jan 14 16:15:04 <Eugene_373> oh I'm sure sammy messed it up
Jan 14 16:15:21 <NardtheBard> so my new theory is we can change the name to prima_wlan and try to get it running
Jan 14 16:15:31 <NardtheBard> or try to fix it as wlan
Jan 14 16:16:51 <Eugene_373> I'll have to check it out to see what the errors are being thrown to be any usful

Jan 15 08:56:09 <Eugene_373> well wrong ones, but I know there was a hand full of flags I had to set
Jan 15 08:57:41 <Eugene_373> well I feel confedent somebody, so I'll push the latest & can revert if needed
Jan 15 08:58:15 <somebody> That would be amazing.
Jan 15 08:58:24 <Eugene_373> pushing it now
Jan 15 09:03:10 <Eugene_373> commit push
Jan 15 09:04:51 <somebody> While I download it and work on building, where can I find the right firmware for it?
Jan 15 09:06:16 <Eugene_373> I closed out my Firefox already but, google that # and you should fined it or I could upload it for you in a few
Jan 15 09:07:51 <somebody> I'm not sure which number you're referring to.
Jan 15 09:09:02 <Eugene_373> it started with M8960A in the commit log
Jan 15 09:09:19 <Eugene_373> I'll have to double check it in a bit to know for sure
Jan 15 09:09:47 <Eugene_373> Xperia T WCNSS Firmware M8960AAAAANAZW153614
Jan 15 09:10:01 <somebody> Ok, thanks.
Jan 15 09:10:06 <Eugene_373> or google M8960AAAAANAZW153614
Jan 15 09:10:10 <Eugene_373> yup, np :0
Jan 15 09:12:31 <somebody> EFFER!!!! DMCA takedown??!?
Jan 15 09:13:02 <Eugene_373> ?
Jan 15 09:13:14 <somebody> intervigilium's github...
Jan 15 09:13:46 <Eugene_373> 1 sec. I'll post the firmware
Jan 15 09:16:36 <Eugene_373> http://www19.zippyshare.com/v/33291188/file.html
Jan 15 09:17:14 <somebody> Whoa, lzma.... I didn't know anybody used that.
Jan 15 09:17:28 <Eugene_373> yeah I love lmza
Jan 15 09:17:49 <Eugene_373> lzma* lol
Jan 15 09:18:15 <Eugene_373> well it's just an old habit
Jan 15 09:20:07 <somebody> ... yum install xz-lzma-compat... heh.
Jan 15 09:21:47 <Eugene_373> I'm sorry
Jan 15 09:22:00 <somebody> Not a problem. What compiler should I be using for this?
Jan 15 09:22:09 <Eugene_373> 4.3.3
Jan 15 09:22:12 <Eugene_373> gcc
Jan 15 09:22:49 <Eugene_373> well anyone that will work at this point... I was only using 4.3.3 so the stock wifi MOD would load witht he kernel I built
Jan 15 09:23:01 <Eugene_373> now that we can compile you can use what you want
Jan 15 09:24:37 <somebody> Ok, I've got 4.4.3 from google, guess I'll go with that.
Jan 15 09:31:23 <somebody> Ah, there we have it... you hardcoded CROSS_COMPILE into the Makefile.
Jan 15 09:31:42 <Eugene_373> yeah I always do
Jan 15 09:32:08 <somebody> Just threw me for a loop.
Jan 15 09:32:14 <Eugene_373> lol
Jan 15 09:33:21 <Eugene_373> 4.6.1 toolchain building...
Jan 15 09:33:32 <Eugene_373> need to get up on the latest though
Jan 15 09:54:13 <somebody> I take it that its normal that there is no prima-wlan.ko or wlan-caf.ko?
Jan 15 10:05:52 <Eugene_373> should be a wlan.ko in /drivers/staging/prima
Jan 15 10:06:03 <Eugene_373> rename that to prima_wlan.ko
Jan 15 10:06:13 <somebody> Gotcha.
Jan 15 10:06:54 <somebody> And its supposed to be close to 32 MB?
Jan 15 10:06:59 <Eugene_373> wireless can take about 30 seconds to connect but does work once connected. Just takes a few minutes for it to connect correctly
Jan 15 10:07:23 <Eugene_373> run this command lne in the root of your kernel
Jan 15 10:07:32 <Eugene_373> find -name "*.ko" -print0 | xargs -0 arm-eabi-strip --strip-unneeded
Jan 15 10:07:47 <Eugene_373> that will strip the .ko of all the extra
Jan 15 10:08:05 <Eugene_373> 2.2mb .ko should be left atfer which
Jan 15 10:08:16 <somebody> Shouldn't hurt to leave it unstripped though...?
Jan 15 10:08:34 <Eugene_373> nope, just extra space used
Jan 15 10:22:30 <Eugene_373> damn it
Jan 15 10:22:34 <Eugene_373> I knew this was a problem
Jan 15 10:22:47 <Eugene_373> CTRL-EVENT-ASSOC-REJECT
Jan 15 10:23:58 <somebody> It booted....
Jan 15 10:24:10 <Eugene_373> congratz
Jan 15 10:25:31 <somebody> Its not turning wifi on.
Jan 15 10:26:35 <Eugene_373> did you put all the firmware in?
Jan 15 10:26:45 <Eugene_373> everything has to be switched for it to work
Jan 15 10:27:01 <somebody> Yes, all firmware. I think I know where the glitch is.
Jan 15 10:27:18 <Eugene_373> wifi mod permissions
Jan 15 10:28:09 <somebody> More fun than that. Just location of prima_wlan.ko
Jan 15 10:28:40 <somebody> Its connected now.
Jan 15 10:38:38 <somebody> So its getting jammed when trying to switch on wifi direct or wifi hotspot. Normal, correct?
Jan 15 10:38:42 <Eugene_373> you having connection issues?
Jan 15 10:38:57 <somebody> No, regular wifi is working as expected.
Jan 15 10:39:06 <somebody> It connected right up instantly.
Jan 15 10:39:35 <Eugene_373> yeah normal... NardtheBard has edited his build that lets it turn on.. that's why I am needing him to test my newer kernel to see if tethering & direct is working
Jan 15 10:39:51 <Eugene_373> turn off then back on & see if you get connection issues
Jan 15 10:40:16 <Eugene_373> might be my wpa2 it's having issues with... slow reconnecting times
Jan 15 10:40:59 <somebody> Took about 10 seconds on the reconnect. Also wpa2.
Jan 15 10:41:23 <Eugene_373> hmmm... I bet it's my u-verus
Jan 15 10:41:43 <Eugene_373> well no, stock wifi.ko has no issues connectiing
Jan 15 10:41:52 <Eugene_373> likely a setting in the kernel it's not liking
Jan 15 10:42:24 <somebody> There is a lot of variation in wifi devices and the way they communicate. This one is running openwrt.
Jan 15 10:42:49 <Eugene_373> yeah I've had wifi issues in the past with a few devices
Jan 15 10:42:54 <Eugene_373> pain in the butt
Jan 15 10:42:58 <somebody> Other devices take a year to connect to this one.
Jan 15 10:43:04 <Eugene_373> lol
Jan 15 10:43:25 <somebody> Reinforced concrete wall between me and the router.
Jan 15 10:43:53 <Eugene_373> well I blew out that damn reject flag... Going to rebuild now & not sure why Sammy added that...
Jan 15 10:48:21 <Eugene_373> well keep an eye on it, wondering if it's just my route & the Firmware
Jan 15 11:03:22 <Eugene_373> okay my wifi is working okay now
Jan 15 11:03:38 <Eugene_373> wonder if removing the reject on acc,
Jan 15 11:04:16 <somebody> hostapd doesn't seem to be working. It just locks up. No output at all, and not visible by other wifi devices.
Jan 15 11:06:39 <Eugene_373> no we need to wait on Nard to login
Jan 15 11:06:59 <Eugene_373> he has that fix were it enables
Jan 15 11:07:15 <Eugene_373> I think it was a CM9 issue, not 100% sure what he did to fix it.
Jan 15 11:07:52 <somebody> I'm bypassing CM altogether. modprobe wlan; busybox ifconfig wlan0 10.0.0.1; hostapd -dd /external_sd/hostapd.conf
Jan 15 11:07:53 <Eugene_373> I'm here waiting on Nard to test the latest kernel with the flags added to the make
Jan 15 11:08:11 <Eugene_373> why on external?
Jan 15 11:08:30 <somebody> It doesn't make any difference, just an easy place to copy files.
Jan 15 11:08:39 <Eugene_373> might need the wlan0 in the build.prop
Jan 15 11:08:44 <Eugene_373> try this
Jan 15 11:09:12 <Eugene_373> wifi.interface=wlan0
Jan 15 11:09:12 <Eugene_373> wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=30
Jan 15 11:09:19 <Eugene_373> may not even work
Jan 15 11:09:21 <somebody> build.prop does not / can not apply.
Jan 15 11:09:54 <Eugene_373> so it see the wlan0 then
Jan 15 11:10:23 <somebody> ifconfig makes wlan0 available.
Jan 15 11:10:45 <Eugene_373> yeah I think we'll have to wait on Nard to login to find out what he did to get that enabled
Jan 15 11:11:11 <somebody> <3>[ 1466.489699] [0:3054:F :HDD] wlan_hdd_cfg80211_add_beacon:Error!!! Allocating the new beacon
Jan 15 11:11:25 <Eugene_373> checking into it
Jan 15 11:12:06 <Eugene_373> awe
Jan 15 11:12:23 <Eugene_373> that's why p2p isn't working
Jan 15 11:12:32 <Eugene_373> it's set to 3.4 kernel
Jan 15 11:12:45 <somebody> ...??
Jan 15 11:12:56 <Eugene_373> #if (LINUX_VERSION_CODE < KERNEL_VERSION(3,4,0))
Jan 15 11:13:28 <Eugene_373> I just need to edit it so it build correctly on 3.0.x kernel
Jan 15 11:13:49 <somebody> Huh...
Jan 15 11:13:54 <Eugene_373> Good find somebody
Jan 15 11:14:51 <somebody> Alright! I helped!!
Jan 15 11:14:58 <Eugene_373> It has a codec set, so if kernel version is below 3.x.x it will compile is a diff flag
Jan 15 11:15:16 <Eugene_373> or if the kernel is 3.4 it will compile with the error you just posted
Jan 15 11:15:22 <Eugene_373> simple fix & great find
Jan 15 11:15:45 <Eugene_373> I've not been checking debug as much as I should, have a 3yr running around the house
Jan 15 11:16:40 <Eugene_373> crap
Jan 15 11:16:59 <Eugene_373> simple maybe not... going to have to look at all of the prima source
Jan 15 11:18:16 <Eugene_373> wish me luck
Jan 15 11:18:25 <Eugene_373> compiling to see if that fixes it.
Jan 15 11:18:33 <somebody> Crap, that comparison seems to happen a lot. GOOD LUCK!!!!
Jan 15 11:20:00 <Eugene_373> I'm sure it will fail, I'll like have to search for all those "beacon" states & double check to make sure I fixed all the cross references to that.
Jan 15 11:20:55 <Eugene_373> that makes since why there is such a delay in wifi if it's having issues with the beacon lol
Jan 15 11:21:50 <Eugene_373> like checking this file as well #include "wlan_hdd_softap_tx_rx.h"
Jan 15 11:30:04 <somebody> I'm not understanding quite what you mean by "it's set to 3.4 kernel". You mean when it runs that comparison, it thinks that kernel version == 3.4.0?
Jan 15 11:30:29 <Eugene_373> okay like this
Jan 15 11:30:48 <Eugene_373> #if (LINUX_VERSION_CODE < KERNEL_VERSION(3,4,0))
Jan 15 11:30:48 <Eugene_373> if (params->ssid != NULL)

Jan 15 14:20:03 <Eugene_373> is that really the Def. of it?
Jan 15 14:20:07 <Hymie> but you wet-behind-the-ears types wouldn't know that

Anyone else curious if Android TV will work on the Nexus Q?
If it is I am definitely going to try to port a version to it.
I was just wondering about this myself.
Here's something else they just released yesterday that might be of interest to us:

Nice, I was wondering the same thing. I haven't seen anything indicating it wouldn't work. These things might end up front and center in my livingroom again...

Nice! Anyone hosting the Apk yet? Anyone peeked inside to see the minimum API level? Or try side loading it (potentially to system/priv-app) yet to another device?
Better yet, anyone have a system dump or factory image from an ADT-1 (Android TV Dev box given out at I/O today)? I'd bet it has an unlockable bootloader, so hopefully we'll have factory restore images.
It would be cool if the Android TV firmware could be ported or the Google Cast Reciver app could be sideloaded on the Nexus Q. I hope we can do this. I love the hardware. Small and stylish and sounds great.
Does the chromecast (Google Cast Reciver app) support multi room playback?
Anyone have any updated info on this? I would be amazing if we could sideload onto a Nexus Q - it was the perfect hardware for powering my outdoor speakers (I put it in a waterproof box).
Gtvhacker have uploaded the build.prop from a ADT-1 Android TV. So we can now spoof the Play store into thinking our device is a ADT-1 Android TV. Will have a try later.

I can post my build.prop when I get home (@work). But I only changed these parameters:
ro.build.version.sdk=20
ro.build.tags=release-keys
ro.product.model=ADT-1
ro.product.brand=google
ro.product.name=molly
ro.product.device=molly

ro.build.fingerprint=google/molly/molly:L/LPV79/1236599:user/release-keys
ro.build.thumbprint=L/LPV79/1236599:user/dev-keys
this is the my edited build.prop. Anyone that is US based that can try to spoof the Play Store?

No luck on my N7 '13 trying to pull the Cast Receiver apk using the build.prop either. It gets flagged as the wrong hardware still.
Grishka11 has posted the apk on this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/har...ast/apk-adt-1-cast-receiver-leanback-t2814210
Only installs on Kit Kat or Android L. Doesn't do anything on my Nexus 10 running 4.4.2. Decompiled and altered the minimum sdk version and installed it on a Jellybean Android box and again does nothing.
I got this in logcat when I installed
./adb logcat | grep mediashell

And nothing that is named cast, mediashell or something similar in ./adb shell ps. Maybe something with the unknown permission.
I think we need those from /system/etc/permissions to keep trying. I'll let Grishka know and see if he can adb pull them. :good:
Anything new yet?
anyone have any luck on this?
