Anyone else curious if Android TV will work on the Nexus Q?
If it is I am definitely going to try to port a version to it.
I was just wondering about this myself.
Here's something else they just released yesterday that might be of interest to us:
Google Cast Receiver

Nice, I was wondering the same thing. I haven't seen anything indicating it wouldn't work. These things might end up front and center in my livingroom again...

Nice! Anyone hosting the Apk yet? Anyone peeked inside to see the minimum API level? Or try side loading it (potentially to system/priv-app) yet to another device?
Better yet, anyone have a system dump or factory image from an ADT-1 (Android TV Dev box given out at I/O today)? I'd bet it has an unlockable bootloader, so hopefully we'll have factory restore images.
It would be cool if the Android TV firmware could be ported or the Google Cast Reciver app could be sideloaded on the Nexus Q. I hope we can do this. I love the hardware. Small and stylish and sounds great.
Does the chromecast (Google Cast Reciver app) support multi room playback?
Anyone have any updated info on this? I would be amazing if we could sideload onto a Nexus Q - it was the perfect hardware for powering my outdoor speakers (I put it in a waterproof box).
Gtvhacker have uploaded the build.prop from a ADT-1 Android TV. So we can now spoof the Play store into thinking our device is a ADT-1 Android TV. Will have a try later.

I can post my build.prop when I get home (@work). But I only changed these parameters:
ro.build.version.sdk=20
ro.build.tags=release-keys
ro.product.model=ADT-1
ro.product.brand=google

this is the my edited build.prop. Anyone that is US based that can try to spoof the Play Store?

No luck on my N7 '13 trying to pull the Cast Receiver apk using the build.prop either. It gets flagged as the wrong hardware still.
Grishka11 has posted the apk on this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/har...ast/apk-adt-1-cast-receiver-leanback-t2814210
Only installs on Kit Kat or Android L. Doesn't do anything on my Nexus 10 running 4.4.2. Decompiled and altered the minimum sdk version and installed it on a Jellybean Android box and again does nothing.

And nothing that is named cast, mediashell or something similar in ./adb shell ps. Maybe something with the unknown permission.
I think we need those from /system/etc/permissions to keep trying. I'll let Grishka know and see if he can adb pull them. :good:
Anything new yet?
anyone have any luck on this?

These are raw .img & .mbn file roms, downloaded directly from ZTE & unaltered. You can flash some of them using the TPT method, depending on your device, config & the rom. Others you may need to use the windows ftm mode flashing method for.
As always, flash at your own risk & do your own research first. If you flash a rom intended for a different device then it is very likely to break your phone. I don't take any responsibility for that & there might not be anything you can do to rescue your phone. Even if it's the same model phone, a rom intended for a different region - especially if either the phone or rom were intended for the chinese market could break it. There is also the Gen1/Gen2/Gen3 issue. If you flash a rom that somehow got corrupted, that's another way to break your phone.
ZTE Racer & ZTE Link share the same model number, but the roms are not compatible, flashing a link rom to a racer or vice versa will probably break it. I'm not sure which are which, check first (use unyaffs on system.img & read build.prop for clues).
In short, don't flash these if you're a n00b. They're intended for rom developers & people wanting to reset their phone to their original stock rom only.

Unless you have a ZTE Skate.
seen on another forum ...
Hi all, I just unfortunately bricked my ZTE Racer (3uk version) by flashing an unknown TPT rom , maybe a zte-link one.
So now my phone is totally dead. Tried every keys combo but no luck to make it connect to PC, that means USB connection is no longer available.
I google around and found it may need a Jtag device for resurrection. But with proper Jtag pinouts and software tools , the hardware might not be necessary.

Be careful with these roms, make absolutely sure that what you're flashing is compatible with your device before you attempt to flash it. If you're using the tpt or windows method then it rewrites all the low level firmware & bootloaders, including the parts that allow you to flash the phone - so if the new version doesn't work, you might be screwed.
As wbaw states some zte numbering is bizarre. Zte racer and zte link both are p726. Zte roamer and orange san Francisco 2 are p736.
P735 is zte amigo
P725a is zte tureis

Thread stuck
I'd better update it next week, I think half the links are dead & there are some new ones available.

The flasher will download the right files for your phone only. You shouldn't use these files unless you know exactly what you're doing with them, flashing the wrong version for your phone can permanently break it. There is a flasher built into the phone software, TPT, or there is hacked Windows flashing software somewhere.

Hi yalll!
I can't get the OPT skate rom to work with TPT. I'm able to flash everything except the original ROM with TPT. I hate the original ROM, but I need it to take the phone up to be serviced. The earphone is broken... again.

Stock ROM without Root and CWM?
Sure. Ist an flashable version via Odin like the first LQ8. Not zipaligend or deodexed. When you flash it via Odin you must root your Tab again.
So, the obvious question to anyone who has flashed this ROM: have they fixed the battery drain in stand-by, the jerky HD Youtube videos and the impossibility of playing HD videos?
TNX.

I second that one, anyone notice any difference in play back? A lot of the time, these releases are actually the same ROM, just with different variations for the country/region of release, so it may not be worth the hassle flashing if you've already flashed the first release.
Swyped from my finger to your face, on my Samsung Galaxy Note.
Just flashed. (wipe, flash, wipe, root)
I will let you know tomorrow

How to root?
What about the jerky HD Youtube video playback (to me it's the biggest of the 3 bugs)?? It takes a moment to check!
Battery drain is still there... 21pm - 9am -> 12% of the battery.

- Flight mode OFF
- 3G OFF (SIM card missing)
- WiFi ON

- apps like G+, Pulse, Kobo, etc removed

I did. Seeme like the new tw etc update similar to LRQ and LRT.
It does not have samsung cloud services, but is localised with Chinese keyboarss etc.
Pretty smooth.
Rooted kernel here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31911656
2 Bugs i can see:
1. big size Widgets (ie. 5x5,3x4,2x5) will be recognized as smaller(5x5-->5x4,3x4-->3x3,2x5-->2x4)
2. if any apps moved to USB device, the icon will be moved from folder to out side after the phone reboot.
Yea its why I had phil add his recovery to the kernel.... you guys are a bit late to the party aren't you LOL.
Just update today, the Launcher was update, got popup player, Application Menu change !!!
just saw this on samfirmware and then came here to check for feedback lol
i wonder what took samfirmware so long to show this was available since it was supposedly released on sept 21? it didn't appear on the site at least when i checked 2 weeks ago...
very disappointing update imo since it appears to be a minor one...how is it the other regions have moved onto xxLRx fimrwares and Hong Kong is still stuck with xxLPx?

Anyone else getting OTA update today? I'm on LPM stock rom and use hardcore's speed mod kernel with root.
Downloaded the 84MB OTA update but failed to upgrade firmware, likely because I'm rooted.
Does anyone know what this update is? According to Sammobile twitter some devices are getting JB 4.1.1 for testing ...
The update was LPN OTA indeed, but downloaded it from samfirmware instead and flashed it with mobile Odin, afterwards reflashed speed of kernel.
Very smooth sofar, only had to re-assign all widgets and shortcuts. There is a bug indeed with x5 horizontal widgets not showing properly...

also got it today
still 4.0.4 but we have some of the features that were raved about in the s3
but re-doing all the pages on home screen is a pain
THanks
install SuperNexus rom for a pure JB experience... 4.1.2.. LOL
my guess is that, we will be receiving the JB update somewhere in the first weeks of december.. if you can't wait, there are a lot of custom JB roms out there..

Oh my god this. I was thinking I did something wrong with my setup, as everything was fine until I started moving apps to external storage. Here is what happens when you install an app to internal and then move it to external storage (through Titanium Backup, App2SD etc.):
You just moved an app to external. Upon the very next reboot, you will get an error in the notifications tray saying "Error: app info cannot be downloaded" or something. If you click the notification, it will take you to the Play Store market link and the "install" button will be available (as opposed to "open" or "uninstall"). However if you go back into your apps menu, the app still exists on your phone, and you still can open it.
If you put the moved apps into a folder in the apps menu (stock TW), they will "move back out" and be at the very end of the apps list upon next reboot. This is reproducable. Move app to external storage, problems start occuring. Move it back (or uninstall it), and the problem disappears.
This seems to be the only problem I have noticed, but it is a pretty major problem.
Just some background info, I came from a rooted stock N7000ZSLPF 4.0.3/12.05 Taiwan ROM to this N7000ZSLPN 4.0.4/12.09.15 Hong Kong ROM (because I wanted the Samsung Chinese keyboards).
The improvements include:
A much better looking app menu icon.
Home screen scrolling left-and-right has a 3D effect instead of the simple 2D scrolling (app menu still has 2D effect).
App menu now is separated between apps and widgets.
There is no more dark patch / background behind icons created on the home screens.
Startup times (including loading of background user apps) seems to be much quicker than before (from 4.0.3 anyway).
Now... due to the nature of the move-to-external-app-bug listed above I don't think this ROM is very usable at all (unless you plan to stay within the stock 2GB app storage limit). The only way I can think of going foreward for the people that want / need the Chinese keyboard is to either:
Go back to a stock 4.0.3 ROM (lol).
Extract the keyboards, flash another 4.0.4 ROM (e.g. Germany or something) and install the Chinese keyboard over that.
Wait for an official fix for this.
I haven't figured out which path I want to undertake yet, but I may go for number 2 from above, as this "bug" of sorts is just unacceptable.
Quick Update: Re-flashed ZSLPN 4.0.4 ROM and seeing if there is any way around it, trying clear Play Store cache, cache partition, Dalvik cache etc.
Hi All,
I installed the [ROM][L7]Jelly-Bean Mini Project 4.1.2(Release-5) on my P705. This is by far the best Rom for my device.
I have installed V10j Baseband. I have the following issues.
1. I do not have mobile Data, I can call and sms etc but cannot access internet over Mobile Data. I only receive mobile data if I add a v20 baseband but v20 doesn't work with this Rom. the other Rom i.e Kitkat or Carbon etc are still under development and are not really stable for me.
2. No Stock Radio.
Is it possible Port the Rom above with a v20 baseband or any other alternative so I can have internet access over mobile Network?
Is it possible to include stock Radio in the next release?
Thank you for the good work done on these rom, My device is reliving with this Rom.

Thanks Zodex, As long as radio is concerned that's not a problem.
The only big issue is with Mobile Data which simply doesn't work. I confirm that on v20 baseband it works flawlessly, but v20 is not supported with this rom as I don't have network. that's driving me nuts. please help. I need mobile data working.
hi !
i really think that you have to clean your phone and reinstalling ....and quietly .
download :
this V10baseband ( it's a v10K "europe")=> https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B2Yt4LYuF0UuSkZUanB5Sm83azg&usp=sharing
the rom
this P705 kernel here (for you !) => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2619072
in CWM :
-wipe cache
-wipe data/factory
-wipe dalvik
-mont and storage : format SDcard (not the external Sd !!! where there are your .zip downloaded previously for to flash ) + format "system" => that all ! no other !!!
...and then flash in this order : ROM + P705 kernel +v10 baseband + Gapps
reboot you phone ,do the first install ,(try it few minutes ...) and reboot it( 1 or 2 times ) for to "fix" the rom if you have problems .

Fantastic, it was worth asking. i did try this once and I got all my applications etc back as if nothing happened. So i restarted the whole process. Wipe all, formated the whole system and started with a clean install. after that I added the network settings for my ISP, it said that registering with the proxy server failed but I can actually see the E on my network and since I am in a no network coverage sometimes in my office so, I can confirm that this is now working.. Thank you for your time guys. Loulou - 13. thanks a lot.

In fact it stopped working again today. I seriously dont want to start flashing everything again as it would be my 50th flash probably. Any solution for me guys?
I never have this problem with a v20 baseband. I cant post to the developper forum on jelly bean mini to request for a built with v20a baseband, anyone know whether this is possible. If yes can someone request this for me on the jbmini post?
impossible to have a custom rom 4.1.2 with a V20 baseband because they are real ICS base... but with JB adds .
your problem is very strange !
look your APN very very carefully !
on my phone i have "near" to 100 flash i think ...L7 is a good phone !

Can you now give me the best tips to get my device working as smooth as possible with KitKat. I can confirm that 3g data works with Kitkat and v20d baseband. This phone is my personal phone but I use it for work purposes as the company pays for the plan. So i occasionally need to look at my emails when off from the office.
I still haven't been able to install it though, trying to do a clean install now.
for KK , CM11 and others are good for daily use , according to goods feedbacks on thread ! :good:
Howdy,
We are migrating over from BimmerPost over to XDA because the Original Thread has evolved from just the DIY install into more of a modification of the Unit itself. The unit we are talking about is This One In Particular, however it has similarities of other units that are in the F Series BMWs (jmoney99 on BimmerPost has one in the X3).
I hope that we can engage the whole Android Community better here on XDA while talking with other folks who have this unit on BimmerPost.
Avin has released a GEN2 unit with a different hardware format in connectors, but the specifications seem to be the same. The software ROMs and MCU also seem to work without issues on the GEN2. Until stated otherwise, you can assume software is identical.
Specifications:
AVIN Model: BMWF30A-1025
Device: rkpx3
Device Model: rkpx3
Manufacturer: rockchip
Brand: rockchip
Hardware: rk30board
ID: KTU84Q
The unit runs Android 4.4.4, 1GB Ram, 1.6 Ghz Quad Core CPU. So far, this is what we know is possible with it:
Rootable through KingRoot
KingRoot can be removed by SuperSume

Thanks for starting this here. (same member name for me at Bimmerforums) I'll start with the original link - http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1374452&page=19

Found a few launchers that might work better:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rwebguru&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ncher.motorcar
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...es.carlauncher
Trying at least one over the weekend myself as there is practically no use for the stock launcher after removing the Stock Browser, Altered AVIN Music App and Altered AVIN Video Apps. (crashes HOME launcher when selecting now)
Too simplified for me but this might work well for others: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...nus.launchertv

Thanks for coming over bud.
Have you experienced any issues with the governors thus far, besides a potential overheating that you mentioned back in F30post?

No issues to report with any of them and I did see a performance boost when set to PERFORMANCE since it keeps it maxed out all the time. My next step is to set it on boot to: OnDemand -> Min CPU 450mhz and Max CPU 1200. I also want to try and UNDERCLOCK it to see if that helps any. I would then go back to Interactive -> Min CPU 125mhz and Max 1000. On the commute home, I am planning on trying one new launcher and setting that CPU to option 1.
Interested in how the new launcher's work. Also if there is a way to intercept the CAN bus buttons.
I installed AG Launcher and this was a pic while driving. Since then, I have customized it to launch what the hell I want lol. I'll grab more pics tomorrow and might even try another!

Coming over from BimmerPost as well to talk about Android specific topics. How do you physically connect to the screen to start root? Did you guys use a laptop to do that?

No laptop needed for this unit. KingRoot is able to root it through its app. Then use SuperSume to remove KingRoot since it's bloated with adware.

Was warm today and the Android aide of the unit just **** the bed. Said no signal on the screen after using it for about a minute. Luckily the OEM side was fine. Not a happy camper.
Once I got to my destination and started car again, everything seemed to work fine.

My screen died completely today: it got stuck with the BMW logo and won't boot up properly. I contacted Avin nd was given a newer ROM dated August and instruction to reflash it using the SD card. I am now able to use it again. Let's see how long it will stay running this time and hope the new ROM is more stable.
Also check out this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...usa-bmw-android-4-4-2-multimedia-nav-t3489042
I stumbled upon this and was very interested. Even more when you guys started rooting it. Not trying to be rude, but unfortunately this just seems to be old, outdated and slow consumer grade hardware.
Another question I'm asking myself: Where is the difference between one of these random chinese headunits and this avinusa model? Seems to me they are just reselling for a higher price.
I was really excited for this to work because I have the old CHAMP2 headunit but seeing the thread linked above the aspect ratio is completely off.
Anyway, I basically just wanted to give you guys the link to the thread and wish you the best of luck to make something useful out of this

Do you mind sharing a link to the ROM that Avin passed along? Can you take a picture of what you have in the system info screen (where the build numbers are, etc)?

Waze was completely unbearable last night. Had to use Google Maps instead which worked without a problem...Seems to be luck of the draw with this thing.

Thanks for the link to the thread buddy! I agree that this is most likely outdated consumer grade hardware. Besides the brand name and "support", I doubt there is a difference been the no name units. I mean the interfaces basically look the exact same.

We might as well start documenting the MCU, OS, and APP versions that are floating around. Looks like AVIN send updates adhoc to people who are having issues instead of having a centralized update server.
Mine:
MCU: 0120aJLY-NBT-
OS: 3.0.36+ Mon Dec 19 16:58:22 CST 2016
APP: 20170711-Ver1.0.0.0001_foreign_a
I basically replaced the launcher today with one that is more customizable. Can't post links yet, but it's FCC Car Launcher on Play Store. Disabled Several system services and such. Also dumped the build.prop file, it is edited in the first post.
anything we can do somehow to keep this thing from going into 24 hour time drives me crazy.

I can't post link as I am a new user as well, but you can go to google drive using this:

I have attached a picture of the build info.

Thanks for the file. Just updated mine. Can confirm it breaks root. EDIT: KingRoot/SuperSume process works fine in order to restore root.

I disabled the EZ Browser (the AirPlay/Mirroring App) in the system as well since i never used the functionality, would pop up randomly, and unneeded resource drain.
