Samsung Galaxy S6 cannot see a Wi-fi Network - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am on holiday in the Costa del Sol and the hotel has free wi-fi.
My Windows 7 laptop and my daughter's Windows 10 laptop, and my HTC One M8 phone can all see the hotel wi-fi network listed after a network scan, and can all connect after entering the password. The signal is strong, 6 bars.
However, my daughter's new Samsung Galaxy S6 cannot see the hotel wif-fi network after a scan at all, but does see various other distant wi-fi networks.
We have tried rebooting the S6, but no joy.
If it helps, using my laptop, it tells me the following about the connection:
Security Type: WPA2-Personal
Encryption Type: AES
Anyone any idea why the S6 does not see this network, while all our other devices can see it no problem?

WIFI problem of Hero

I am using my Hero for about 1 month
recently it is not able to locate any wifi network
i can open wifi, but no network comes out(there's open network avaiable)
when i press search, nth happen
anyone konw what's happening?
Thank you so much
My Hero will not connect to my home wifi whether wpa-psk or-wpa2 or open (Tiscali Siemens585 router) or my Win 7 laptop used as a router (using its Atheros wifi card). It's a T-Mobile UK stock handset. It can see all the connections and remembers the login details but will not hold a connection.
Any ideas?
I've had spurious connections to the router before, I have no idea what's going on, if I|had to guess I'd say it was an ip address allocation problem ( I have always got 2 pcs and a wifi printer on the network).
Help!!!

Cant connect to my WiFI

Got my 10.1 yesterday, it connected fine to my parents WiFi and Starbuck's... no go on my cisco wireless router at home. Anyone else have issues with connecting to a WiFi? I tried WPA2 and WPA, reset the device multiple times, even tried a static and it was a no go.
I can't connect to my Linksys router but I can connect to the qwest modem its attached to.
When connecting to my Linksys router it says obtaining IP address on both my tab and my galaxy s 4g but never obtains one. I did some research and a lot of people solved this problem by using a static IP for their device but my network is set up dhcp and I'd love to find a solution without having to setup a static IP.
I've also noticed when I'm using the wifi on my tab and sgs4g I experience a delay when loading pages and using data. I have a hspa+ tower right next to my house and when I use 4g or tether 4g to my tab I don't experience this lag. Has anyone else experienced this?
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Tried adding my MAC address and it got me one step closer (Obtaining IP), the router said it was giving it one, but it wouldn't take it.
I will post more details of the router that I use so we can compare the types and figure this out.

[Q] WiFi router hop

Hello,
First at all thank you for the help you provide here.
A week ago I got an AT&T GS4 (stock for now) and I use it at the office where we have two wifi routers connected using the same SSID to allow "roaming" across the office, they all are in separate channel but share the same SSID and Passkey.
Every time the GS4 it connects to a different router I get an authentication error message and the phone is disconnected from the network, then I have to re-enter the wifi password (though they are the same) and the phone connects to the network again. This did not happen with my prior phone (Inspire 4G with stock or Cyanogenmod) and does not happen with other's people phones (iPhones, HTC One), unfortunately mine is the only SG4 so I can not check if other SG4s have the same issue.
Checking the routers I see that this occurs when moving from one wifi router to the other, remember they both have the same SSID and password with different channels.
Any advise?
Thanks
Same here, "authentication error" with a similar configuration using two Buffalo Tech routers running dd-wrt. The S4 is the only device with issues, several iPhones, htc ONE, iPads, Blackberrie move from router to router seamlessly.
Anyone? thanks

I've run into Wifi connection issues with a particular Wifi network. I've read thread after thread and tried all the usual procedures but no luck so far...
SGN3
EE UK network
Not rooted, stock rom
Zerolemon 10000mAh battery
BT Wifi network
Basic BT Wifi router.
The SGN3 connects to other wireless networks just not this one. Other devices connected include:
2 x ipads
3 x I phones
1 x Google nexus
1 x Alienware Dell M18 laptop w Windows
1 x BT broadband TV on demand box
Now i have tried switching off half of these other devices and then rebooting the Wifi but still the SGN3 won't connect...
Authentication Error. ..
I'm loathe to attempt to issue fixed ip addresses as the BT TV Box won't allow it and it's not my network as we are currently staying with relatives between a house move. It is infuriating as being a basement flat, I can't get the mobile data network.
Any ideas that don't involve static ip?
FYI
Other devices added to the network have no issues.

try fiddling around with the security in the wireless section in the router. Some old 802.11n chips (on routers) that do not have 5ghz have problems with newer devices.
Authentication error sounds like a bad password or Auth method.

Another problem that I have seen in some WiFi routers is a sort of "confusion" over the encryption method - in theory WPA2 should be able to use both the older TKIP and the newer and more standard AES, but for some reason the router 'confuses' the two and you must force a specific one of them (not necessarily the same on all models) inside the router - experiment with both but I have seen most often things being fixed by forcing WPA2+AES.

Looks like configuration related issues.
# In your router if you’re using static IP did you enabled DHCP?
# If DHCP enabled does it has range of IP which can fulfill all devices? Like if you have 10 device your DHCP IP range should be at least 10 or above. From 100 to 110 or 110+ etc
# If using static IP you must use Address Reservation for each device with their mac address otherwise when all device reconnect router cant assign IP for each. When all device are connected using Static IP try connecting the Note 3 > when asking authenticate password > put pass > check mark advance setting > check your router for which IP is free, which you want to assign for note 3 > on note 3 under advance setting choose static IP (its DHCP by default) > put the same IP and save. If this connect check your router and take the mac address of note 3 and assign a Address Reservation for the note 3 mac with the same IP.
# If its showing Authentication Error then definitely its password related issue. Use WPA2/PSK and AES encryption (if other device supports). When connecting it shows obtaining IP address. If no IP free, it will keep showing that.
# while doing this turn off mobile data, after all done you can turn it on. However mobile data isn’t an issue for this.
Thanks all it was a channel issue. The router kept shifting channel. Software update has solved it.

Samsung S8 no internet through WiFi repeater

Hi there,
I have a 2 routers set up at home.
192.168.0.1 - Main AP, DHCP enabled, WiFi Channel 10
192.168.0.100 - Repeater, DHCP disabled, WiFi Channel 4
Both are connected by an Ethernet cable and have the same SSID Name, Password and Security.
Other devices (FireSticks, Chromecasts, Google Home, Moto X Play) can connect to either router wirelessly to the internet.
But my Samsung Galaxy S8 (and my wife's S7) sometimes has a problem when it initially connects to the repeater first. When it happens it connects but I get the exclamation mark (!) next to the WiFi symbol and not connection.
A workaround I've found is to turn off phone WiFi and get closest to the Main AP and turn back on so it connects to that one first.
I've tried setting Static IPs for the phones, but that still hasn't helped.
Once connected to the Main AP successfully the phone roams between it and the repeater as expected.
Any ideas anyone? I never had any issues with my old Moto X Play phone.
