New Tab, Should I root BEFORE OTA updating, of AFTER ? - Thinkpad Tablet General

Hello Everybody !
I've just had my new Yoga 2 1050F yesterday, and of course, I want it rooted...
But, I have a question here, Should I Root it BEFORE updating Android or AFTER ? (With OTA update)
Actually I'm on 4.4.2.
And which tool is prefered for rooting Lenovo Tab's ? It's my first one (before i've own ACER A20FHD, and Motorola Xoom2, all rooted.)
A big thanks everyone !
Have a nice day

that is an existential question you're asking...

And you have any idea ?

It doesn't matter when you root. Try this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=62237366

[Q] official ics

hi, my brother and me, we ve got two acer iconia a500 with 32gb.
my brother rootet his iconia 1 month ago and installed an ics rom.
now i bought my rom with normal firmware and no root.
i updated it to 4.0.3.
now my brother wants the official firmware on his iconia back.
is there a release of the ofw or is it possible to make a backup of mine
and he flash this rom to his iconia (so its nearly the same)
im looking forward for a positiv answer
Hi there,
Best bet would be for your brother to revert back to stock honeycomb and then allow the OTA updates to update him to the official ICS. There are many guides here on XDA on how to do that. That is likely the safest bet based on what bootloader he might be running etc.
can you please give me a link for a guide to getbstock rom back. hard to find something, aspecially when you are german
I went back to stock 3.0.1 and did updates up to 3.2.1 then i install Iconia tab update from the playstore when i got upto 3.2.1 then checked for updates again and it pushed ICS to my tab hear is the link method one worked for me method two did not let me update i kept getting the your device is upto date message. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276227
Method two would be the best if you are not able to get your cpuid did not work for me but might do for you good luck need anymore help post back hear.

5.0 Update and the possibility of no root

Hi all,
i think there is a high change of not getting root after offical 5.0 update. My phone is not rooted or flashed but i want as soon as any good rom come.
Should i wait till with the update (when it´s out) till there is a good 5.0 rom?

in my opinion no you should not wait or take OTA's we will have custom 5+ roms why risk being completely stuck on stock .... plus we will most likely have 5.0 before LG release it (im assuming on this from my experience with other devices and the way the community works compared to companies)
Thank you for the information.

Samsung Tab E Android Upgrade

Hi All,
I am very new to rooting and updating Android versions, to the point that this will be the first time I have done it.
I have a Samsung Tab E (Model No : SM-T560) running Android version 4.4.4 and would like to get it updated to the most recent version possible.
I am after some advice on the best and easiest way of doing this please, if anyone is able to help I would be very grateful
Many Thanks,
Ben

This device is does not have an updated official firmware. Samsung abandoned it at kitkat.
There are unofficial lineage builds in the development section to Nougat.
root not necessary for 7.1.1 using Odin.

Is it a SM-T560 and not a SM-T560NU? I just flashed 7.1.1 on my SM-T560NU and you can do that without having to root the device at all. My SM-T560NU came with 4.4.4 and did an update to 7.1.1 all by itself but then I did root the thing and it started boot-looping so I was forced to put it back at 7.1.1 stock.
Jim
Yes because its improperly rooted and it will revert to stock. You should install a custom recovery, boot directly to that recovery, then root it.

Before you decide to flash any device have the 4file official firmware on hand (stored in a folder). That way, whatever goes wrong you can recover from a bricked device, but there are times as some us know recovery is not possible.

Easiest way to restore a tablet is to use Lenovo's Rescue and Smart Assistant. Note that this will wipe all the data from the tablet, so backup anything important first.
You can also find the stock ROMs at lolinet, if you know what you're doing.
Hello, Big thanks for you'r answer thé problem it's i need this firmwar too bypass thé Google vérification After a total reboot...
